Hi all:
Just got my Tilt2 yesterday from Negri electronics....very happy with the quality of it but hated the stock AT&T ROM. Just some questions I am hoping the experts here can help me out.
The phone came unlocked....if I attempt to flash it to another WWE ROM will the phone be re-locked?
I also need chinese input as well and currently I have CEstar 2.8 installed. Is there any other options to have chinese input instead?
Thanks!
K
no as to unlock
don't know answer to chinese

I don't have any answer for Chinese input. For flashing a different WWE ROM, you MUST flash HardSPL FIRST. Don't even try to flash any other ROM before flashing HardSPL. First you need to read and follow all the instructions mention in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
If you have any questions about the HardSPL ask in that thread.
For the WWE ROM's you can check this thread.

Thanks guys! I am more concerned about the sim unlock.....I'll check for a WWE ROM from taiwan and hopefully that will have chinese input....otherwise I just use a english ROM and go with CESTAR.
Thanks again.
just remember to READ THROUGH the threads linked above and Hard SPL first or else it's the end of the world!!! For sim unlock, there are many like olipro who will unlock it for a price or if you're an ATT customer with good standing, you can just call them and they'll give you a sim unlock code. I do that for every phone I get - and that's free.

Dear All,
I spent a lot of hours, days, reading the posts on the forum about the Universal and upgrading it. I didn't find some answers.
I still have some open questions that I request your help in order to have a safe upgrade.
I have a Qtek 9000, that is SimLock.
I would like to Upgrade to an AKU 3.5 ROM or to one Crossbow ROM ( still under assessment)
Now my questions:
To upgrade,
I will have to upgrade bootloader, because since Aku 3.2 Rom , it needs to be 1.01. That is clear.
Edit: Opsss tried bottloader for first time and my version is 2.01 So no bootloader upgrade, but new question:
Sim Unlock works with bootloader 2.01?
1 - Do I need to SIMUNLOCK before ROM or Radio ROM upgrade? If yes:
- I will need an oficial radio ROM. Which one? Are 1.13 or 1.14 is OK?
- Must I first Simunlock and only after upgrade the bootloader?
2 -Country Code error, what is it? (Solved)
Edit : About Country error, no specific answer, but i got almost what I looked for.
Thx you all for the hard work and colaboration on this site.
Cheers

I'm afraid you didnt took your best sshot at searching, cuz 3 or 4 post above yours is a topic called "problems with upgrading?"
in this topic you will find the info AND tools you need to succesfully upgrade..
I don't know about the simlock thing, i flashed mine with the simlock on, to a cooked rom, and it works, but don't blame me if it F*CKS up your mobile i suggest that you do a bit of research in that part..
Country id error:
You get that when you try to install a rom that is from a different manufacturer/country then yours, to solve this problem look at this link
(the link to the forementioned topic)

I know how to solve the country error, I just would like to get more info about it.
About the other post, I will look for it, but when i made search ( last time was the last week) I didn't find the answers i look for.
Since I looked and didn't find it could you please provide a link? ( sorry)
Thx for your help.
Hi,
1. I agree with bastiaanoskam cause I think almost any question about upgrading the Universal has been answered before in this forum.
2. I don't see the need to unlock your device if you don't want to change your current provider.
3. As far as I understand the country error is due to a change in the original language for which your device was thought (look for MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe) i.e. you have a Japanese device and want to upgrade to WWE version.
4. About the bootloader, I just saw one ROM that is said it requires to upgrade your bootloader to 1.01, it was a preview AKU3.2 from i-mate but I don't really know if the upgrade is really needed. I have read it's not needed for Crossbow and also for custom cooked AKU3.5 but again every new cooked ROM usually has a thread so you can find answers there.

1 - I do agree that there is a lot of info about the upgrade process, I just didn't find the answer for what I'm looking for.
2 - I didn't find a post where is stated that the device should be unlock to install the new ROM, but I also din't find the oposite, so my doubt.
3 - It seems that I should try first and if I get the error, go for the alternative method. I woul like to jump this step, but if there isn't other way, well, that's life
4 - Maybe it's a bad interpretation on my side of the wiki post. Porbably only some I-mate based roms need the bottloader upgrade.
thx for the help
Dear All,
I wonder if someone can give me a definitive answer, I've read posts saying that if you want to use another vendors ROM then you have to unlock first as in the old days but I have also read that the following ROM installs straight off without unlocking.
I have downloaded the following from HTC SEA site: RUU_Artemis_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.7.707.1_4.1.13.30_02.69.90_Ship.exe and would like to install it without bricking my phone! As it is a legit ROM I'm happy to give it a go but I thought I'd check here first.
Many thanks
Alex
You still have to unlock using USPL.
The only ROM's you can flash without unlocking would be UK T-Mobile ones, because they will match your CID lock.

What phone do you have?
And anybody tried it...
I tried downloading the newest HTC ROM update---says my device is not supported for this update. ???????
I downloaded the file using a provided serial in another thread for the WWE version.
Can I use this file to flash my rom????
My diamond is an UNBRANDED and UNLOCKED version. I assume its a UK or US version. I use it with my ATT&T sim card.
It's a 1.93.422.4 WWE currently...
Any reason this 2.03 rom WONT work for me?
Can I use it?
I started the flash process just to see if it would give me an error or incompatible message and it did not. It was ready to install.
Any thoughts?
thanks
Man,
You really need to read the wiki and this thread.
Not meaning to sound rude - but your questions are answered thoroughly, providing the information you need to understand before flashing your device.
wow man, that was SO INSIGHTFUL.... thanks
I have flashed MANY phones, many times. I am very aware of how to do it and Yes I have read that page.
I am just trying to see IF ANYONE KNEW offhand if that new WWE ROM would work over my existing ROM without bricking it.
but thanks
If you got it off the Diamond page and know it's a Diamond ROM for sure, then you can flash it. If you don't know where you go it or have no idea for which device it came for, it has to be ported.
Thread closed.
Hi there
I've buyed a Diamond locked by orange. Now I like to unlock it and install a custom rom.
I was going through the forum but I found too much and different articels that I decided to create a new thread.
So the question is:
What do I have to do to get my sim-locked phone ready for flashing a custom rom?
Thanks for the answers.

You DO NOT need to SIM unlock your phone to use a custom ROM.
You DO need to install HardSPL to your phone before you can use custom ROM, you only need to HardSPL once.
There is much information in the sticks posts at the top of the ROM section that will tell all you need to know about HardSPL and ROM flashing.
welcome to XDA
Thanks! this has just helped me aswell
good luck with journey to worl of rom`s
Here's additional NOOP question. Do you need to CID unlock the Diamond AND HardSPL to use cooked ROM's? Or is HardSPL enough?
Thanks!

If you mean, do you have to change the CID, the answer is no as HardSPL means that CID is not checked.
My phone is EasternEurope region coded, so HTC gave us only 6.5 upgrade to sense 2.1 (october 2009). I`ve been waiting for new rom upgrade (`cause every other region is allowed to), but H*C support send me a answer:
"Dear Mr.xxxxx
Thank you for contacting H*C.
Kindly note that for the time being we have no information when the upgrade will be released. However, please send us your software information from Start>settings>system>device information>version
If you have any other inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact us again.
Please note that you can contact us via support line. For further details, please go to http://www.h*c.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx , you'll find a toll free number that you can dial only from a landline.
Thank you so much for using H*C products.
Respect & Regards,
H*C Team"
So, there`s no help, only hope for us. So, I downloaded a WWE Europe rom :RUU_Rhodium_S2_HTC_Europe_2.07.401.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91_Signed_Ship
My question is, as a flashing rom noob, can I flash it on my device without a issues. My device has ROM version: 1.86.401.1(67102)WWE, ROM date: 10/07/09, Radio version: 4.49.25.17, Protocol version: 61.44tc.25.32U.
I also have a Olinex 0.85 Hard SPL.
P.S. I read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540 (Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs)), but I just wanna be sure that everything will be fine.

I'm in the US, and I have flashed the ROM you mention several times. I use it as a base ROM for my own version.
As long as you have HardSPL on, you should not have any problems. You can always go back to what you have now if HTC has posted the Ship ROM or you find it here somewhere.

hi darkic,
any progress? did it work? thx
Yes it will work. With hard spl you can flash ANY rom. That includes cooked and stock. That the radio version are different doesn't matter. The radio controls the signal for you're rhodium. If you get less reception you can always flash the old radio back.

Just bare in mind that installing the hardspl voids your warranty.

Confirmed, European rom works without any issue. Also, if hspl is installed, in a warranty repair case, there is a way to instal stock spl with Olinex relocker.
Darkic, enjoy your new rom! By the way - you don't need Hard SPL for stock roms. And Congs! Flashing can be daunting in the beginning.
