Hi
Does anyone know of any software that lets me queue up different mp4's in a particular order so I can play on my Touch HD?
I've converted some DVDs into MP4 and can play the chapters individually but at the end of each chapter, I have to pick the next one in File Explorer; really want something where I can select a number of chapters in a certain order and play back to back.
Thanks
Arjay

What is the best music player on the Desire ?
Something that ideally supports mp3, m3u, flac, wmp, wav ogg
Stock supports MP3 and WAV. Flac is supported if you root and install CyanogenMod. I haven't found any player capable of playing M3U, WMP or OGG yet.
I'm pretty sure MortPlayer plays .ogg (brilliant music player BTW) - I could be wrong though...
If installing CyanogenMod allows for flac playback then then pushes me that much closer towards rooting my device - just need the courage as I've heard one or two stories of people bricking their phones. I wouldn't consider myself that much of a noob with these things but I hope someone can come up with a noobs guide to rooting your Desire...
TuneWiki is the best, has more than just music playback!

Ahem... The built-in player supports playing OGG files...
Thanks for the tips. I prefer MortPlayer which can play my files even if they are not perfectly rendered ID3 tags and have no album cover.
One thing that annoys me about most of the newest phone on the market is that it requires you to create a playlist of some sort.
Back in the days when most players would work just by simply playing all the files inside a folder.

Meridian can do that. You can navigate through your sdcard, long press the desired folder and play all (and a few other options)

Not mine it doesn't. Copy and pasted files into a directory and played. Not until a few days later did I set up a few playlists. This was using the stock player but was also playing around with TuneWike and 3 at the same time.

Thats something thats annoyed me too. I just want to play files in my folders, not spend ages making a playlist........ Just downloaded Meridian and its doing what I want. Thanks for the tip off.
I just make sure all the tracks within a folder have the same 'Album' name, that way when you sort by album, they're all grouped correctly.
You can do this in Windows by highlighting all the tracks within a folder, then right click and go to "Properties | Summary | Advanced" and update the 'Album Title' field.
It can be instant, or take a minute or so to update the album name, depending on what type of ID tag it uses.
Mods, if this is better in the general Android app section since it isn't really Epic exact, please move.
So, as most mobile phones do, the Epic records in 3gp format. Fine for playing back on the phone itself, but becomes a pain when you pull the file off to a PC, or any other media player that doesn't support that file. I know there are applications that can easily convert the 3gp file to a more broadly supported mp4, but I was wondering if there was an Android app out there that could convert 3gp files to mp4 (or any other more common type) actually on the phone?
That would be awesome. Then DLNA (via PS3) might be worth something.
It seems there's some type of video editor that comes on the Droid X stock called Arc Video Editor.
There's an .apk out there from a Droid X dump. Tried installing it, but there's no way to run it after installing. Doesn't show up in the apps list. Other users have reported they couldn't get it to run either.
Still looking around..
I have lots of MV and KTV videos and I wish the phone would play them one by one automatically (like I did with CorePlayer or TCPMP in WM). But I just can't found any option for that. And I can't find any software like that either. Do you folks has any solution?
only ones which zune understands can be loaded onto the phone unfortunitely.
Does anybody know why this won't work?
I converted an avi file to 3gp and put it on a server.
When WP7 browser loads it, it displays it in byte form instead of playing it.
Trying to figure out why the difference from m.youtube.com 3gp vids which do play on the phone.

Your server doesn't tell the right MIME type so it confuses the IE on WP7. You have to manually add the right MIME type for .3gp if your server doesn't support it out of the box.
Thanks, great answer.
I'm trying to use it with gnu MyServer on my computer and forgot about the MIMETypes.xml file.
I did add this though and now it starts to play but then I get a message that says "Can't play. Try again later".
So I guess I need to research it further.
Code:
<MIMETYPE>
<EXT>3gp</EXT>
<MIME>video/3gpp</MIME>
<CMD>SEND</CMD>
<MANAGER>NONE</MANAGER>
</MIMETYPE>
<MIMETYPE>
<EXT>3gp</EXT>
<MIME>audio/3gpp</MIME>
<CMD>SEND</CMD>
<MANAGER>NONE</MANAGER>
</MIMETYPE>
And the .3gp i'm trying to play is converted from an .avi. I wonder if that is the problem.
I suggest to try with a .wmv file instead, but if you really want/have to use 3gp, you may need to use different settings for the file, like width and height. I don't know much about 3gp files but there may be some variations, one can use different codec than the others.
I just got the GN 10.1 2014 tablet. Looks great, works great.
I am VERY new to the video game. I want to encode some DVDs and Blurays and move them onto this thing.
Apparently the free encoding app called HandBrake needs specific settings for each model tablet?
Where do I find settings for the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014?
A friend gave me a file he made with Handbrake that he encoded as an .mp4 for his Amazon Kindle Fire HD.
If I try to drag/drop copy that file from my PC over to the Galaxy Note 10.1, a dialog window comes up on the PC
saying that it will "convert" the file and take 2 hours. Why would it need to convert it, if the file is already a full HD
mpeg4? Or, is that the part about needing custom settings for each android device, to use in handbrake?
Ideally, I want to learn how to set the settings in Handbrake so that the completed file will SIMPLY copy over to
the galaxy note in a few minutes (normal file copy), and NOT be re-converted a second time.
Where would I learn about the settings needed for the Handbrake app?
I can see from google that several of the high-cost video encoder apps have already added a "profile" for this tablet.
But, Handbrake is free, if we can learn the proper settings.
Sincere Thanks,
Neal
Hi
Have a search on the internet for nexus 10 hand brake settings. Both tablets have the same screen resolution and the nexus has been out longer so the setting should be readily available. If you have a MPEG4 it should already play it on the samsung the only advantage of using handbrake is to reduce the file size whilst maintains the quality. Ripping your own DVD's and converting the for your tablet can be time consuming. I do not condone piracy at all but if you already own the physical DVD or blu ray to be honest you may be better down loading a digital copy. Someone else would of done the hard work of ripping and converting the files for you.
what i liked about the old galaxy note was that i didn't have to convert anything. everything played fine on it. this refresh doesn't support ac3 audio any more. you may be able to get by without conversion if you use mobo, mx, or buy archos player and us the free codec app. i know the archos has played everything so far.
