tilt 2 oct 8!!!!!FINALLY!!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

i just got off the fone with one of the reps and she said it is coming out THURSDAY!!!!!FINALLY!

I'm going to be at the store when they open on Thursday

I wonder if this is only being launched in some areas because I called a few stores today and they had no idea when it was going to be released. Or maybe the reps at AT&T stores around here just haven't got the word yet.

yoo mee too im takin this pure back tomorrow! and ordering my td2(HTC IMAGIO) from verizon tomorrow!

You guys seen the keyboard on the Tilt 2? Ewwww!!!!
The number keys should be on the top row like on the rest of the Rhodiums
Good thing there is a program to remap them...

This has been known for a couple months now, and it is the same layout as the Tilt and Fuze essentially. Unfortunate, but those of us who want a Rhodium with 3G on AT&T don't have a choice.
I can't believe the Tilt 2 is finally almost here, I was totally expecting the 18th, and not such a stealthy launch like this.

I like the number keys the way they are, MUCH faster to type for me.
I posted in a few other threads that October 8th was the release day, where were you guys??
Here is what my business ATT rep sent me that came from ATT corporate:
"Hello Eric,
I figured that I would make your evening!! See below: I have put in Bold the information that will make you happy! Looks like we will be ordering in a couple of days.
Have a great evening!
Channels: Consumer Care, COR, Local Dealer, National Retail, DMDR, and Small Business
Roles: Representative and Above
Markets: All Markets
Contacts: Your Manager
AT&T will launch the HTC Tilt 2 to all channels of distribution on October 8, 2009.
The HTC Tilt 2 has a large, vivid, tilting touch screen that enables easy navigation via the Touch FLO™ 3D interface. The HTC Tilt 2 has an extra-large physical QWERTY keyboard, plus on-screen touch virtual keyboard that works in horizontal or vertical orientation. The HTC Tilt 2 provides a quality speakerphone experience with dual speakers, dual microphones and advanced noise cancellation with StraightTalk™ technology.
The HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T arranges conversations by people, not by the application that used. Users can now see a history of conversations, in whatever form it took place, directly from the contacts list. The HTC Tilt 2 comes loaded with AT&T applications, but users can also download more applications through AT&T’s Appcenter, or from the Windows MarketPlace Mobile store. The HTC Tilt 2 supports quad-band GSM, bi-band HSDPA/UMTS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth."

I'm gonna go bug our business rep tomorrow for a new TP2 2 days early

Still no price listed. Why is AT&T making it so hard to find a no commit price on this thing?

i think i read somewhere that it'll be 299.00 after a $50 rebate with 2 year contract. not completely sure though.

really hoping for this. I read somewhere (i think wmexperts) that it could go for $349.99 after $50 rebate. I hope ATT doesn't go the T-MO/sprint route, n leans more toward the verizon route. Either way, im gonna try to bargain with the workers to lower the price a little. Maybe 250? haha

yeah. im hoping that 49.99 deal that people have gotten the past couple weeks. haha i doubt it though.

yea i want to get this the first day but tmobile and sprint had their tp2 on sale a week or two after it release for a day or two...i dont want to buy it and see a deal like 200 or lower show up that would hurt...

I don't care about the discounts, rebates, etc. I am planning on paying full retail for mine. But I need to know the full retail price because I have to withdraw the money like a week in advance from my brokerage account...

The subsidy price is usually $150 less than full retail before MIR. I suspect that the full retail price is $349.99 + $150.00 = $499.99

I can't agree more. If you want to dial it like a normal phone, use the touch screen. I don't want to have to hold Fn every time I want to TYPE a number. I wish I could swap the keyboard out somehow...

Well I don't want to hold fn every time I use punctuation, which is far more often than numbers.

I've got the sprint TP2 which needs to go back because sprint coverage is horrible in my area.
Looking at the photos and the couple seconds in that video in the other thread I have to say the AT&T version looks really chincy compared to the sprint version. Is that what took so long for At&t to come out is excessive value engineering?
Either way I'm going with the cheap ugly at&t version because I don't have a choice.

Really? It seems to me that among the US carriers, AT&T has the one that looks closest to the original HTC version, which I kinda get the idea that everyone likes best. AT&T messed with the keyboard but it looks like they had sense enough to leave the rest alone.

AT&T might not actually be getting the TP2(fortress)?

Hey guys First post. and i wanted it to be good so here we go. I was looking around on some sites to see if there is any new word on the release date or anything, cause my phone is really outdated. So i stopped by Wmexperts.com and reading some HTC stuff, and came across an article(end) and it said that US Cellular shows rebates and stuff for the Touch Pro 2. Well, only 4 passed the FCC, and thats one sprint verizon tmobile and a ______. Well would this be true if it shows rebates, will AT&T ever get the TP2?
http://www.wmexperts.com/touch-pro-2-snap-headed-us-cellular
Colin I can't see at&t being the only carrier not to have the TP2.
Anyways, here's a post that shows an at&t variant of the TP2 clearing the FCC: http://www.wmexperts.com/touch-pro-2-att-passes-fcc .

Just because ATT clears FCC with this phone doesn't mean it'll happen... If memory serves me right, ATT had the Samsung i900 cleared to go last year, also, and that didn't happen
But not saying the TP2 won't happen, either...
ok, i have seen these posts before, but did the FCC say that that specific one would be AT&T's model to be sold on the shelfs?
it doesn't make any sense that ATT would miss out on the TP2. we shouldn't look into this too much. ATT will be getting their variant of the TP2. we just need to be patient [:

really? I can. They are the only ones getting the new iphone and with all their sights set on it, i wouldn't be surprised at all if they ignored the Touch Pro completely. Give how many iPhone users their are, and how many would jump on the upgrade, id say they dont see the TP2 as much of a thing to bother with, while the other carriers Need it just to compete with the iPhone.

for most AT&T customers on these forums, I hope you are wrong lyian...
in my eyes, the TP2 will completely overshadow the iPhone, regardless of how fast the 3GS is.
and, knowing ATT, they would be remiss if they didn't pick up the TP2. I mean cmon, they could make much more money with both the TP2 and the iPhone on their store shelves.

Oh i hope im wrong too, but its hard for me to think i can be. But understand all this that ive said is only from my perspective. I live in a college town, and i swear if i had a dollar for every iPhone i saw on campus every single day id be a very rich man. Two of my friends alone have them and they arnt students! iPhones are Every dam where over here. So for atleast the ATT stores here, the iPhone is king, much as i hate that idea.
I will say tho, that when i went into best buy to get a charger, i showed the cellphone guy my phone and he was like "ah HTC, yea, they're about the only phones worth running Windows Mobile on these days" hehe i just smiled
Remember the rumor involving the Barium? Hmm.... I would get the more featured OmniaPro before an ATT phone that doesn't tilt, even w/o 3G!
I have to agree with Lyian on this one. At my college some students doing a statistics project about cell phones found out that over 61% of the campus was using some sort of iPhone (2G-3G) and that another 20% or so were using a LG envy of some sort. I found this to not so surprising. I myself am using the iPhone (I know I know). I gave up on my old HTC 8525 due to the sluggishness of windows mobile. But now that I see the overhaul HTC has done with their Touch Interface, I really want one bad.
I popped into the ATT Shop yesterday and asked all the clerks and even asked to speak to the manager if they had any word on the HTC Touch Pro 2 or code-name ATT Fortress and they hadn't the slightest idea what I was talking about. Instead they kept showing me over to the iPhone 3G S and trying to get me to buy that instead (I told them I was looking to upgrade)
With ATT having the iPhone (and just getting the 3G S) they really is no need for them to push this phone out anytime soon. Maybe the 'changes' they will make to the phone will be there as to not overshadow their signature phone
Maybe I should just get the 2G TP2...
but they have released both the tilt and fuze; both of which were released along side the iphone. why would they stop now? i really believe that at&t markets these phones to two completely different markets; the fun young crowd (iphone) and the more business oriented customers (touch pro2). at&t has released an updated htc device every october/november. i dont see this being any different.

two reasons.
1. With each iPhone release, the sale of that model phone has been better than the last. Im sure the 3gs will outsell the 3g. At first they were all about the HTC phones, then the iPhone came out, and while they may have been holding on to the HTC phones as a 'just in case', they likely feel pretty secure in their sales of the iPhone and dont have to worry about it not being a good seller.
2. Apple is making more business like apps available to try to merge into that selling market as well. Now they arnt nearly as flexible as something on a Winmo(especially with the limited interface of the iPhone) but thats not the point, and i doubt ATT cares much.
I bet if you look at the HTC phones vs the iPhone sales, their would be a major difference. Perhaps they so much more potential profit from the 3gs release, that they don't see a need to bother with the Pro2
But who knows.. All any of us can do is wait and see what ATT ends up doing.
But I don't understand why at&t would care? Either way they're making money, the data plan is the same price, why not offer both and give more options to their customers? makes no sense for them not to carry it, and I'm almost sure they will carry it. However its probably not gonna hit till october...

Sell TP2 Before EVO is Released?

I don't want the value of my TP2 to drop so I am buying a Touch Diamond to hold me off until the EVO 4G is released. Is this a good idea? Will the TP2 actually drop once the EVO is released?

The going rate for the TP2 may drop some when the EVO is released, but it's already taken a fair hit when HD2 was released. If you're thinking about getting rid of the TP2, I'd do it asap...it'll probably drop just due to age in the time before the EVO hits the streets.
Looking at ebay values just now, it seems like the sprint/verizon versions have held value better than the GSM models, but yes that's likely to be affected more when it's no longer the flagship CDMA device on the market.

I agree, there's still no better full-hardware-qwerty handset available, and I don't see any real contenders on the immediate horizon.
However, in addition to the prices it fetches on ebay starting to slide, the market is swelling with available used units, and as that starts to happen prices will drop as availability outgrows demand.
As stated above, there is no better hardware keyboard device on the actual world market and nothing on the upcoming, so it´s value won´t go down as fast as Leo...
Unbranded Rhodiums are the highest valued and will still that way till a real successor appears, tmobile and CDMA are the ones with lower prices.
I would keep it definitely
yeh, kinda figured the T-Mobile TP2 value wouldnt last due to the fact the phone has been totally transformed on the outside at least the keyboard feeling is still the same
but like Orb said the TP2 is definitely a keeper, like he mentioned, unbraded ones are going to be real high,
the question is to rhfoxdude24:
which Touch Pro 2 do you have? CDMA or GSM? and im guessing its a carrier phone as well

I have the CDMA Sprint Version and that is why I am looking at the EVO.
I just bought a used diamond (wont lose too much value) on ebay. I will sell the TP2 after I swap phones. Once my contract expires July 17, I am going to sell my SERO plan with the Diamond. After that, I plan to hop on to my family plan with siblings and get the EVO and pay about $45 a month.
Any flaws in my plan fellow members who like to work-the-system?
What ROM should I sell it with? I'm thinking either EnergyROM, MightyROM, or just Sprint Stock. I also was wondering if I should install Android on it, and if so, should I boot it a first time or instruct the buyer on how to set it up?
Thanks

T-Mobile you SUCK!

today I went to a T-Mobile store in Bellueve to see if it is true that you will never find a Windows Phone 7 on display. As I was looking around for Windows Phone 7, I did not see any Windows Phone 7. All I see were shevels and display of android phones. I made an attempt to ask one of the salesclerk, and told me because Windows phones aren't selling, they didn't want to waste the shelf display. I am really upset at T-Mobile, and I think Microsoft should investigate into this practice. No wonder their phones are not selling.
When I went to try the HD7 back at the end of November they had two phones on display, they even had and HD2 on display.

I bought mine via Amazon wireless, with T-Mobile contract. I am very disappointed that I am thinking about canceling my contract with them, but I must find ways to cancel without getting charge.

Weird, the T-Mobile store in my City had the HD7 plastered everywhere.
I have noticed a difference with att stores and att authorized stores which look like an att store but they are privately owned. I assume it is the same with T-mobile. The authorized stores will push there highest end phones that are not neccesarily the newest or best phone out considering they want to rid their inventory; so they will try to sell you anything high end that most of the time they have little to no knowledge about haha.

Gonna have to call shenanigans. Almost every decent AT&T store I've been in has a display unit for pretty much every phone they carry barring maybe a few feature phones and dumbphones. But as far as smartphones go, they almost always have at least 1 display unit for every phone.
I used to have AT&T, so I've been in a LOT of AT&T stores
T-Mobile stores are just full of lazy employees. There's a 50% chance the phone you want to try will either not be on display, or the reps unplugged it and let the battery run out.
I don't know. Around me I have four T-Mobile stores. Each one has a Vibrant, MT4G, HD2 and HD7 running side-by-side. Only one store had the HD7 not working because it was played with so much that it was always in need of a charge.
The problem at these stores is that they were selling the HD7s, but most of them were returned within days of the purchase. According to the sales people the reasons varied. I think most of them were returned because they weren't what people were expecting. However, the sales people were actively pushing it over the Android phones.

Uh, the Bellevue (Factoria) has an HD7 on display. It's on the left hand side of the store when you walk in.
The RTC store has one on the left hand side of the store on the upper display when you walk in the door from the main street.
Are you referring to the Bell Square store? While I can't vouch for it, I'm quite confident that they have one on display. Since I'll be there tomorrow, I'm more than happy to take a photo of it.

which exact t-mobile bellevue store did you go to?
exact location is needed.
The T-mobile store in my area isn't even selling WP7 devices, but all the Tmo Stores in the City over have the glass covered with ads. I think it has something to do with whethers its an authorized reseller or an official store. Because T-mobile will market every device. Unlike official stores, authorized resellers will only sell what they see fit. Couple years back the same store in my area would sell the G1 and stop selling sidekicks.

These type if things happen to all the newcomer OSes. It happened to WebOS on Verizon, Android on AT&T somewhat, etc. While reps should be objective and respond to the customers needs, anytime you have something that isn't understood and you have humans with preferences this will always be the outcome. Just give time for Windows Phone 7 to mature and I'm sure the attitude will Change.

[Q] AT&T Preorder Problems?

Thought I might ask here, am I the only person not able to order this phone? After two days, and hours on the phone, whenever I place my pre-order, I get a confirmation email...and then seconds later, I get a cancellation email. You can't pre-order this over the phone or in stores...is there some special number I don't know about, to call and get this issue resolved? I've literally had an AT&T service rep tell me that they will just continue to cancel my order, and I'm out of luck.
I've thought about trying with bestbuy, but I have unlimited data, and Bestbuy (online) doesn't give an option to upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.

I had the same problem Oct 25, as I was ordering 2 Notes, one full price and one for my wife with 2 year renewal. I also spent an hour on the phone, ATT couldn't figure it out. I finally thouhgt I would order one at a time. First I ordered the full price Note and received a confirmation email, then I ordered my wife's with discount for the 2 year contracrt, again confirmation. This time, it worked, so both ordered and confirmed for 11/6 ship date. Now if you were ordering only one, no idea, but finally worked for me by ordering only one at a time.

Yeah, I'm only ordering one. And I'm not going to risk being charged 700 dollars, when I'm trying to upgrade at the discount price. I see a few other people have had the same problem, but there aren't any solutions posted. Unfortunately, ATT just says to wait and buy it in a store, which isn't an option for me. Long story short, it's a gift and the person buying it is half a country away. And it's bs that I'd have to wait even longer, due to their crappy system haha.

Really makes no sense and I agree with you. Why did I have to split my order to get both, ATT didn't even know.
Good luck.
Having a lot of problems getting the phone as well. Tried to pre-order it online only to have it either give me an error, or give me a *$399* price instead of $299. On-the-phone reps had no clue, told me I could go to a store to preorder it. Store had no clue, said there's nothing in their system about it. "We won't sell out, just come in on the 9th and get it here." URGH. Such a giant waste of time.
Reps told me to come in as well. I asked if they thought there would be a line guy said usually not for samsung. I asked what time they opened he said 9 I said ill be here at 8.

You'd be doing whats called an alternate upgrade. Basically upgrading your dads line to the note 2 then putting his original phone back on his line and putting the equipment on your line (note 2) if his old phone did not need data before it won't add data. I do these at least once a day with no complications. It's incredibly easy and done more often than regular upgrades are. And you shouldn't have to call and cancel anything. Just have the associate doing the upgrade make sure and show you that your dads original equipment has been returned to his line.
I wish the employees at my lo Al vest buy could figure out how to do an alternate upgrade. I tried to do one last month on my wife's line and none of them could figure it out. I just took the phone to an att store after I left best buy to get it taken care of.

You might have an incompatible rate plan code. Apparently I had an old rate plan with an old code that the instant savings discount didn't recognize. I got all of this info from someone on AT&T live chat. They told me to call Premier and tell them to update the code and that they'll know what I'm talking about. 5 minutes later I was able to get the $100 discount and my preorder was in.

Stop believing dumb **** you hear on the internet. I work for BBY and there is almost nothing we can't do when compared to carrier stores. Unlimited data? Effing easy. Blows me away that people would still believe that BS

Dumb s? Really now...look at your own GD website. It doesn't give the option to upgrade to unlimited LTE, it just gives the option to not CHANGE anything. It does not clarify if that will upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.
Look at your own site before *****ing. No wonder no one takes Best Buy seriously lol...
As for everyone else, I got a higher tier customer service, and they can't figure it out. It's basically FUBAR'd. In more detail, they said that the order isn't even making it through. That they, for some reason, don't believe I'm me. So I'll have to take care of it through a bit more complicated way.
Good luck for anyone else trying to order from ATT. I went on their forums, and I'm not the only one dealing with this hassle lol.

You're *****ing about our website not keeping your ****?? So a system that is based off of someone else's system (ATT in this case) didn't work correctly? Get off your lazy ass and go to a store. That way you can get it done correctly without having to deal with any operator error

Comon now guys, let's keep it civil on on-topic.
My preorder on att's site was cancelled and now it instantly cancels when I try to reorder.:crying:

This pre-order has just been a nightmare. I couldn't even get to ordering it as the site just gave me an error. Customer service told me to do it at a store, store told me they don't even have it in their system to pre-order it. What's the point of a pre-order that doesn't work?

Heh, just got off the phone with support. We tried two different credit cards, both are empty not used very often, and it denied both then locked the account. She said I'd have to go to a store to show two forms of id to unlock the account. Yea, their system is ****ed up.
Preordering is a major waste of time. Yet another advantage of not being a iPhone user is not having to order early just to try and get it delivered day 1.
I can see certain situations where you might want to buy online and have it delivered to someone half a country away as a gift, but on the whole there is no incentive to do it.
The phones will be in stock unless their delivery didn't arrive on time. As great a phone as the Notes are, they are still in a fairly niche market. Not many people like the idea of this massive phone. People still freak out when they see me pull my phone out. My buddies will give me even more crap with the bigger screen when I get mine in a few days.
Best Buy handles everything very quickly. If you have a standalone Best Buy Mobile location near you, go there. My experience has always been better there, but that's just my experience. Less lines, less crowded.

That reminds me. I need to call geek squad again. They've been double charging my card for my protection plan every other month or so. I think this will be call number 9 to get them to fix it, again... :silly: Started when my OG Droid's touch screen died, and verizon wouldn't do anything to help me out, so I ditched them and went back to at&t. Got the Dell Streak because the Atrix wasn't out yet. 29 days later the Atrix dropped, so I swapped over to that. They "canceled" the protection plan and started it up on the new phone, but the Streak plan is haunting my account. It just won't go away. The geeks at BB can't do anything, I always have to call their customer support.

Received Note 4 was defective, should I wait for another or wait and get Edge?

My Note 4 was defective (overheating and static sound coming from speaker when camera is on) so Best Buy screw my order after sending defective unit back. After bunch of promises that I will get "immediate" replacement for my pre-order they will provably cancel it completely and provide refund... Question is should I make another order and wait 2 months or wait and pre-order (this time thru Sprint) Galaxy Note Edge which might be released in about a month? Yes Note 4 is nice but still very similar to my existing Note 3 while Edge would be something very different.
Either way Edge should be here by end of the year (leak source says before) , yes first T-Mobile version but others should follow up as well.

I find the edge a little too gimmicky to jump the gun on until hearing from real world users if it's worth it

Have a friend (pilot who actually tried real Edge phone somewhere on his world around trip) and he is amazed by Edge. Guy has been all about IPhone but now he's waiting to get Edge. This should say enough.
2nd there is a reason they released one at the time, if you release two good phones at once or even selling better one first - selling other one of them might be a problem, so maybe keep sweeter deal for an end ?
think about it
I think the edge is going to be a bust and would stick to a working Note 4.
The edge won't work with the gear vr. If that is a big deal for you i would stick with the 4.

Lol, even thinking about it I'd still say it's gimmicky. No doubt it's cool and different, but I don't believe different necessarily mean good either. Not that the Edge is NOT good. I just didn't personally see any great appeal with it in-store.

Not the store, their corporate. Now they are trying to pull bunch of bs on me but I have all calls recorded and they were aware of recording. Last bs they puled is "you never returned device" but I have recorded conversation where they confirmed return and tracking # confirmation. Still waiting and not sure that will happen (so signs of phone or money for that line. In the meantime I got another Note 4 for my other line upgrade which I swapped to mine (went thru hell to get this one). There is only 3 ways in here to resolve issue with my first line (sprint agreed to those), send another phone, reset upgrade eligibility and provide refund or law suit using those recorded conversations. Additional issue is I had 1500 land line minutes (didn't know that include toll free) and I received email from sprint that I might get charged 0.40 per minute (spent all my landline minutes with stupid bestbuy)
