Whats the Best WM 6.1 Kavana - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Whats the best version of WM 6.1 Kavana to run on a T-Mobile Dash? The radio version was 4.1.13.51_03.07.90, this version was ok but i think it came cluttered with to many things in the package. Is there a version that comes with less stuff inside?

Q's before I upgrade.

First of all, is WM6 worth it? I'm fine with WM 5.0 it's just a little slow...
Is Pocket IE in WM 6 better?
Does the device seem snappier in WM 6?
I'm thinking of using Hemlie's ROM. What do I need to know before upgrading? What doesn't work?
Would you reccomend upgrading to WM 6? If not, whats the "Best" WM 5 ROM?
Thanks, Mitch.

Hi,
if you're already planning on using one of the available roms (in this case Helmi's) you could ask in its thread your questions. Also you'll find there what's working and what's not....
Generally speaking the device seems to perform better under xbow than WM5 but there're some points where some work is needed....so please read all the open threads about WM6.

WM6.1 apps!! work on WM6.5??

hi im thinking of flashing my touch hd to 6.5 when the full release of windows mobile 6.5 will be made available but just like to ask if all the apps in WM6.1 will work on WM6.5. thank you
not all of them work but a fair number do...

WM 6.5 versus 6.1 speed?

WM 6.5 looks great! but is it faster than 6.1? I'm currently using Schap's WM6.1 and looking forwarding to an OS upgrade if it provides better speed performance. In addition, which ROM will provide a minimum of 20mb program after load. Thank you for the input
ive used the 6.1 roms for a long time decided to change to a 6.5 rom but i had problems with it such as memory shortage and i didnt like a lot of programs on it. i didnt find it any quicker so have changed back to a 6.1 rom which i prefer. as for choosing a good rom your going to have to flash and look through lots of different roms to find one you like or cook one your self.
Have fun
The core of the 6.5 system is faster than of 6.1 - the problem is how many of those various additions are cooked in. If too many, or badly cooked ROM - as a whole it's slower - but if unnecessary things are removed it's a faster system. The RAM is more problematic - it needs more of it, but after removing some elements and reediting others you can get 25 to even 29 MB of free RAM on 6.5

As far as i understand Schaps 4.31 is based on WM version 6 not 6.1 so damikey question should be restated. I havent tried 6.5, maybe when becomes official, so cant answer your question, but I have read in this forum that version 6 core is faster than 6.1... WM6.5 vs 6

No! Absolutely not.
WM6.1 is the most fast and responsive ROM right now, while WM5 was the worst one. WM6 was way better than WM5, but it's slower and less stable than 6.1.
Wm6.5? It depends, as I said before... its core is faster than 6.1 - but UI is just bigger and more resources-hungry.

Do you think using that dll in dev and hacking forum we can increase the speed? maybe with that... we could edit all the icons in dlls and Theme to make it faster than the hell... but i cant figured out how to use it... cause we must to sacrifice a little megabytes of storage.
utak3r rigth...didnt know that, thanks. I have read months ago about unstability problems in 6.1 but maybe the threads were just outdated or google trick me into thinking that. I havent tried myself, just know rigth now about WM5 and 6. So I which a lite stripped down version of 6.5 even without Titanium if were possible just with honey like programs menu to make trials and see how it feels in day to day use and not only by benchmark results... something like that exists rigth now or is in development?
Maybe you or +Que PPC or other chef can do it !!!!!????? would be awesome

Still with doubts I did a quick search and the thread wasnt that old. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496318 some people disagree with the fact that 6.1 is faster. I saw the benchmarks for hermes (dont have the link rigth now) for different cooked ROMs and results were similar between WM6 and 6.1 with the same pagepool.
IMHO maybe as you say the 6.1 CORE could be faster (!?) but some other issues (like only 64mb RAM in Hermes) could make some people FEEL like its slower with their configurations and stick to WM6 or make a jump al the way to 6.5. Its just a thought. damikey only concern is performance and memory in his post, because he have Schaps which is a very stable ROM IMO, but stability, now that you mentioned it, would be another issue (not offtopic). I know you have lot of more experience than me and as I have the same doubt as damikey would be interesting to know about this a little more. I need my tytn as a phone so dont want to flash every week. Thanks again.

ROM with HTC Sense 2.1 and WM 6.1?

is there a ROM already made for the Rhodium that has Sense 2.1 on WM 6.1? would love to try it out since 6.1 seems to be easy on resources and battery life...and its been ages since i tried it out lol but yeh for those wondering if its possible? yes its possible, Xeperia X1 already has a custom ROM thats got sense 2.1 and WM 6.1 all in one ROM http://htcpedia.com/276/soft/sony-x1-rom.html
please let me know, thanks
I have made such a Hybrid. But the problem is that the battery life is crap. You need to use the new rilphone.dll together with the 4.xx.xx.xx radio and WM6.1. The rilphone and radio doesn't match the WM version and this results in a poor battery.
Check my Oldschool thread in ROM developing, I have put there my WM6.1 + Sense 2.5 ROM (have a look at the last posts), see how the battery live is, if it fits you I'll upload you a WM6.1 Sense 2.1 Hybrid too.

it will update you to the .57 radio (the one you asked about in the other thread), and winmo 6.5 and sense 2.1 (you have TF3D 2.1 right now). I noticed a improvement with that radio when I did the upgrade, not huge but noticible...connection stability got better, battery life stayed about the same.
Setting -> System -> TouchFLO -> About
It says "TouchFLO for Pocket PC Version 3.0 (Build 1914.3222).
Where would I see 2.1?

I don't recall exactly where on there (if anywhere) you'll actually see "2.1" listed, but that is the last version of TF3D produced before HTC switched it all to sense, and it's the only version that shipped with T-Mobile's WM 6.1
cookie's for TP2?
i no longer have a TP2, but have related question:
is there a version of Cookie's Home Tab for sense2.1 on the TP2? or any equivalent cabs that would add functionality and quicklinks to the home tab? preferably any additions that does not involve cooked roms?

No, that program requires Sense 2.5.
If you don't have a TP2, why do you ask? Also, what are you using now?

Currently using epix and HD2.
Why did i ask? I was going to update the rom for a friend's tp2, but since both versions had tf3d2.1, decided it was not worth it. Besides, the sense2.5 cab at 80MB is too much for the tp2, so not going that route. And no way am I flashing a custom rom on somebody else's phone.
back on topic, if a current tp2 owner is satisfied with the radio and is not using tf3d, the is really no point in updating to wm6.5.
I am doing it in hopes of getting a better radio.
