Auto turn on/off, WiFi & BT on External Power? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi folks, is there a program or a method of setting the TP2 to automatically Turn ON/OFF Bluetooth & or WiFi When external power is connected / disconnected?
Apologies if this has already been covered and I have missed it in the search. I know there is software available for the Diamond but is there anything specific to the TP2? Thanks

I could probably whip that up for you, but if it's available for the Diamond, why not use that?

This has all the tweaking tools you will ever need!

g-profile should work and i think it's free

Have you tried the requestet function with the linked programs? Because TP2 has another Bluetooth-stack than older phones. My SPB PhoneSuite can't turn on Bluetooth on TP2, it worked with TP!

Can't use tomtom with telephone switched off.

Hello, I have installed TomTom Navigator 5 in my Qtek s200, but I can't connect it with the bluetooth GPS if the telephone is switched off.
Tomtom runs ok, but doesn't find GPS device.
If I switch on the telephone there isn't any problem, tomtom runs ok and find the GPS device.
I have used tomtom, and dell GPS bluetooth GPS reveivers.
Someone knows if is there a solution to use the GPS with the telephone utility switched off?
Thanks!
ive got this problem too with my xda 1 which i only use as a satnav unit
I use the xda with a wired gps but tomtom complains there is no gps device because the unit is in flight mode, even tho im not trying to use any wireless signals.
anyone help ?
thanks.
I don't know if I understand you right, but I might have an explanation for this. On my Qtek 9100, I can't use a bluetooth GPS-receiver when the device is in flight-mode. Flightmode disables all radiosignals...and since bluetooth is sort of a radio signal, it's disabled as well
A solution might be to turn off and on your device and "cancel" when you're asked to enter your SIMs PIN-code. This way, the device is not in flight mode (so bluetooth works) but the telephone-reception is disabled.
I hope this helps, if not: let me know!

yes that works but the phone device is still switched on so uses battery
the gps in question in my situation is a wired unit going directly to my old xda 1's com port so shouldnt matter if the phone or bluetooth are on or not. Even if the pda was in flight mode it shouldnt affect use of my wired gps as there are no radio signals.
seems like a 'bug' in the tomtom software that if the pda is in any kind of flight mode including the phone being off, it decides it cant communicate with any gps, no matter how its connected, as if they expect everyone to be using bluetooth gps' and just include the wired configuration as a legacy function.

Darn...sorry, I misunderstood. I'm using a bluetooth GPS-receiver myself, so I just took for granted that you also used a bluetooth device And indeed, looks like a bug...not very convenient.

Concerning bluetooth devices:
This seems not to work with Windows Mobile 5.0.
With Pocket PC 2003 devices it is possible to use with TomTom bluetooth while in flight mode.
Here's a work around for Win 5.0:
1) Enable the phone and bluetooth in the Comm. manager.
2) Make the link to thte bluetooth gps in TomTom.
3) Disable the phone in the Comm. manager.
4) Return to TomTom.
The bluetooth link will be maintained until you exit Tomtom or try to link again.
This might also be the case with a wired gps.

Bluetooth Explorer creates PROBLEMS for TomTom!!!

Indeed clicking as much as one time on "Bluetooth Explorer" will cause TomTom not to function properly any more (maps/voices not found etc.).
I have learnt that the hard way!!!
Many members of this forum speculated that the Artemis SD card housing is somehow related to TT's maps to vanish.... NOT TRUE!!!
After a hard reset I have tested that TT was fully functional and I have (intentionally... just to find out) clicked on Bluetooth Explorer and BINGO the TT6.1 maps&voices are GONE!!!
If some of the forum experts would happen to read this and would feel like giving instructions to disable Bluetooth Explorer it would be very helpful.... this will surely avoid SEVERAL hard resets to many people.
I have read that one should go to Settings/Connections then select the FTP tab and uncheck "Enable Bluetooth Explorer" but this is not to be found on my ARTEMIS (P3300)... Let's see if somebody will find a moment to share his/her wisdom with the rookies and shed some lights on this annoying problem.
Cheers!
SiperX
On my Orbit you do the following to disable the Bluetooth Explorer
Settings / Connections / Bluetooth / FTP (tab)
Then select or de-select Bluetooth Explorer.
I appreciate your kind reply Patrick but as you can read in my thread this path (Settings / Connections / Bluetooth / FTP (tab)) is not available in the Artemis/HTC P3300.... Anybody else?
Do you have a comms manager? If so you can access the ftp option of the bluetooth settings from here.
TomTom and Bluetooth explorer both work on my xda orbit.
herghost, what version of TomTom are you running?
I m unable to have Bluetooth Explorer enabled on my Orbit, and get TomTom to find the maps. I am running ver 6.02
perfect, i wasnt able to make tomtom recognize maps on orbit(on universal it works w/o probs) i switched bt expl. off and it works. thx
Guys, there is no doubt. TT (mine is version 6.1) and BT Explorer are NOT going to work together! I am glad to hear that phsnake could get his orbit to resume TT functions.... And (also) I found out that my old rom (the one originally shipped with the P3300) had the path (Settings / Connections / Bluetooth / FTP) to disable BT Explorer (as Patrick_UK explained) ... but the one I am using now does not offer the chance to enable/disable BTE.... any registry master would be kind enough to offer his/her expertise to make this possible? I am not so keen on editing the REG unless I know exactly what has to be done
rom 1.28.0.0 wwe
rom date 11-06-06
radio 02.69.90
protocol 4.1.13.30
ext. rom PDAMobiz.com
SiperX:I'll try today to find reg solution, i cannot promise anything, but i'll do reg export with btexpl. switched on, then with switched off and compare reg.files. hopefully i'll find the right one key.
Phsnake, this sounds like a great idea! Thanks in advance!!! I really hope that you can succeed and give me support in this matter.
By the way where did you find the rom (ROM: DOPOD IPL: 1.25.0001 SPL:1.27.0000 GSM: 2.69.90 OS:1.28.0.0 WWE) you are running now? It sounds lke the right one for my T-Mobile Artemis.
so i compared the regs and diff follows:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BluetoothFolder]
"EnableClient"=dword:00000001
"HDEVICE"=dword:00031380
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\68]
"ClientInfo"=dword:00000000
"Hnd"=dword:00031380
"Key"="Drivers\\BlockDevice\\BTDisk"
"Name"="BTD1:"
i guess all U need 2 do is change "EnableClient" from 1 to 0. try it and let us know. (i can disable it thru bt settings). or remove above posted reg entries.
ROM:its standard dopod shipped(the latest one) should be on wm-gurus.com
Thanks man! The registry editing you suggested worked and the BT Expl. is now OFF and TT finds the maps again!!!
But the option to enable/disable the BT Expl. (via BT settings as you say) is still not available any chance you could send me a screenshot of your reg for both [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BluetoothFolder] and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\68]?
For your Dopod rom, could you please give me a precise link where I can download it? I could not find it at wm-gurus.com.
Thanks a lot
ftp.wm-gurus.com/Artemis/Shipped_Complete_Updates/ARTE_DOPODAU_12570702_026990_WWE_SHIP.exe
yes i know that wont allow u to switch off btexpl. thru bt control panel.
Here are regentries U requested, but i dont think it'll help. but try.
Thanks again!
BTW, the same file (ARTE_DOPODAU_12570702_026990_WWE_SHIP.exe) was available at XDA too.... I have tested it a few weeks ago it and -being an AU (Australian rom) my sim (Dutch T-Mobile) did not get registered as the operator is apparently not quoted .... strange that you can use it in Scotland.
For regs I will see what I manage to put together and will let you know... Great (and prompt) support was very appreciated...
Hi again,
I have flashed once more the ARTE_DOPODAU_12570702_026990_WWE_SHIP.exe onto my Artemis and I have (FINALLY) noticed that the SIM does register and I am able to use the phone (incoming & outgoing calls).
The only problem is that every time I reboot I get a notification from the "NETWORK WIZARD" which says "your current operator (20416) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor".... Any idea how I can get this nag off my back?
Thanks
try to check \windows\startup
I have deleted (& made a copy for backup) these 5 files:
netwiz.cpl
netwiz.dat
netwiz.exe
netwiz.exe.0404.mui
netwiz.ini
from the Windows folder of my Artemis.
After rebooting the Network Wizard notification does NO LONGER pops up!!!! So I would say "Problem solved", right?
I am glad that -thanks to the recent communications we exchanged- you "inspired" me to give one more try to the Dopod rom and I finally seem to have found what I wanted.
Only one final point: In other roms if you click on the phone signal bar you get the option to turn on/off the flight mode and if you click on the icon on the right of the phone signal bar you culd turn on/off the WiFi... in this rom you get a small (blue) Comm Manager link to follow in order to enable/disable these functions.... did you find any faster ways to activate WiFi or Flight mode? May be they can be added to the voice commands?
Cheers
u can use phonealarm-some skins supports one click wifi, gprs, btooth switch,
I saw phonealarm but I have decided to spend the end of the weekend configuring my newly installed rom (immediately after I will make a Sprite backup) and along the way try to think of something to keep to a minimum the amount of additional SW installed. What do you think if I use "tray launch", would that allow me to make the necessary shortcuts?
By the way (with previous roms) I kept my Artemis overclocked at 240 Mhz and it was pretty stable, did you test any higher frequency on the Dopod rom?

Quick way to turn off wifi?

Has anyone got any good idea for setting up a quickly-accessible shortcut for turning the wifi connection on or off?
There's CommManager button on the keyboard that leed you to WiFi and other connections. I'm on the SPB Mobile Shell3. Try it and you find out that there can be everything you imagine on the screen. So have Wireless Manager right in fron of me.
Dan
Thanks - I hadn't noticed that.
Interesting that you're choosing to use SPB Mobile Shell 3 instead of TouchFlo - I was thinking of doing the same myself.
TF3D is definitely not bad and this last release is good. But MS3 is awesome, using this already since times of Kaiser. There is much more freedom and operativness with MS3. Worth of trying at least...

Have set long press on the "phone" key to Comms Manager, then you can twiddle wi-fi to your heart's content!
This program works great just one click on or off
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-aktogglewifi.html
This is one of the issues that I'd like to solve as well. One of the great capabilities of Nokia Symbian OS is that you can directly press on a bookmark for example and it will pop up a menu asking you to choose the way you want to connect (GPRS, WIFI access point, WAP, ...)
You just choose from it and there you go! Once you close the browser or the application that requires the internet connection it automatically stops wifi!
I find this setup great and it makes things much easier. Any way we can have such a setup on our beloved TP2?
I have installed smaberg's action screen:

That's affirmative!
The util, a great util by the way, is written for the Xperia, which has a WM bluetooth stack.
The Rhodium has a WidComm BT stack, so that's the only part that won't work.

today plugin bluetooth toggler

Hi,
I am look ing for a SIMPLE today plugin to fast switch on/off BT. I have tried a dozen but none of them seem to work. Strange. I used to have a HTC Universal (WM 6.1.) and there the BatteryStatus (name of the program) worked like a charm (even the last version homescreen_plusplus doesn't work on the rhodium) I tried exe versions (like BtOnOff.exe)and cabs (like BlueTogglerSetup). So I am starting to think I am missing sth. Anybody a suggestion?
Oh yeah, the indicators do switch on of these plugins (when i switch on BT trough settings-connections) so they detect the state of BT but are not able to switching on them selfs?
Help welcome!
thx in advance

(damn, i am missing my solid universal!)
Read the very first post in this forum! The very first paragraph. The search function works well ;-)
Pro2 use a different bluetooth stack than all previous models. Currently I have not seen other BT toggles that is working, but I expect they will come later.
I have CommManager assigned to the send button, so it is no big issue for me.
The biggest issue is, that the BT headset controls are hardcoded to WMP/HTCPlayer, so I can not use my favorite mediaplayer.
thx
thx, yeah I searched and read about the BT problems.
I just wanted to check in to see if there was sth new going on this front.
I hope you didn't mind too much.
In the mean time I assigned comm manager to a soft key in combination with 2 today screens it is feasable, but definitely not sth I want as a final result.

Bluetooth Schedule Time

I am wondering if it's possible to schedule to turn Bluetooth on and off at specific times of the day, automatically on our Rhodium
Does anyone know of this is possible?
It's not a freebie, but I use SpbPhoneSuite to provide different "profiles". These can be used to turn on/off bluetooth and can also be configured to activate based on time or other triggers (e.g. during an appointment, when cradled, etc.).
As this is primarily a Today Plugin, I've used "Second Today", which gives me a separate today screen (aside from TouchFlo) which I use to access PhoneSuite and change profile if I need to do it manually.
I had a licence for PhoneSuite from my previous phone, so I didn't care about the cost.

I found G-Profiler. Free and alot of config.
BUT... The Bluetooth part dont work.
I've found the reg key for BT on the Rodium:
HKLM\system\state\hardware\
bluetooth=8 is the value for off
bluetooth=9 is the value for on
I havn't found the place to put that value in G-Profiler.
But it's possible to call a prg instead. Mortscript to change this reg-value?
Is this the easiest way? I've had this problem in other prg aswell, so i'd like to know.
Thanks for your replt, however I read that HTC switched from the WM BT-stack, to the WidComm BT-stack and SPB Suite will no longer control BT as we would expect.
Any other ideas?

phoneweaver
With SBSH Phoneweaver, Profiling works fine with Bluetooth. Make sure that you use version 1.4.2 (the issue with the BT Stack has been solved in this version)

Ahhh - I'd seen the Bluetooth option, but not actually tried to use it in anger.
D'oh!
Phoneweaver looks as though it might also do the trick, though...
