hi all,
I'm running Miri' lastest 2.5 manila ROM and I'm having some problems tidying up the start menu.
I'd like to have a few extra folders, tools, connections, mutimedia and such. I have created these folders in \windows\start menu\programs ok and i copied all the shortcuts into the correct folder and then i deleted the oringal shortcuts.
My problem is that even though the apps i have installed since I flashed my phone have now moved to the correct folder, the apps that are included on the ROM are still present in the start menu and my folders.
Have i missed a step here?
Is there another location i need to go to to remove the links in the start menu?
Presently if i open \windows\start menu\programs with a file explorer there is nothing in there but the folders i created (no shortcuts). If i open the start menu from my home screen all the shortcuts come back!!
Any ideas anyone??
Cheers in advance
Same is here. Looking for answer as well !!!
use total commander
http://www.ghisler.com/ce.htm
all the folders and shotcuts can be seen and editied, great app
Using any registry editor go to
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher
these numbered folders corresponde with the order of your start menu shortcuts. starting from 0 folder being the 1st shortcut in manila start menu and then 1 being to the right then so on.
you can now choose where you want the location of your new games folder in your star menu. once in that folder editthe string... path ....to the folder in which you have your games located.
for sum it might read.../Windows/Start Menu/Games
others maybe.../Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games
it really all depends on where u have your game lks located. i personally created a folder named Games in my storage card and then cut/paste all the lks for my games into this folder. this prevents have my games all scattered in the all programs tab. my string reads ... /Storage Card/Games
once done soft rest and your done.. hope others find this as useful as i have
i also did the same as above with a bunch of the programs lks that i dont use all that often that are installed to storage memory. only difference it was programs saved in a diff folder in my storage card not games.
have been doing this since wm2003
have been doing this since wm2003
thanks neways
all im trying to do is help..
how since 2003 when im talking about the new manila start menu??
this is good for new tp2/winmo users. i just wish this was up a while ago before i went crazy. took a while to figure out but i got it lol. i'm pretty new to the winmo phones so this could've been very useful when i had first gotten the phone.
good job
i meant that i used to organise all my programs into folders
like utilities
productivity
games etc
i just used file explorer
open windows_start menu_programs
there u will find all the program shortcuts
cut reqd shortcuts and paste in2 folders created by u in the Programs directory
press ok
when u open start_programs
u will find folders and all ur apps arranged systematically in those folders
its almost the same thing u told for manila
sorry if i am wrong
but even in my 1st post i thanked u bro!
y do u get agressive?????
I found out some apps inside the folder.Facebook,Youtube Astro fileware and such. But after running Eclair,I found out there are no related apps inside the menu. And also there's no Live wallpapers. Can anyone help me out?
you have to move them out of the sub-folders and into the AndroidApps folder.
Changlog note from a while back.
AndroidApps now consists of 4 folders
( Copy the applications you want to the root of AndroidApps. For people who dont know what core files to copy, i suggest you copy them all )
I asked about this too in the thread and didn't get an answer. I noticed that during android runtime start it is actually supposed to load these folders automatically but something causes it to omit them.
I'll try this as there are some of my own apps that I want to install to have a more complete build (gallery should work well enough).
Im new to this so i dont know how to delete my previous thread, but im creating a new one. So, i noticed that my files got moved to the emulated folder, i can access them if i use a file browser with root access, but i cant see them in the regular file manager, gallery, music app, etc. What do i have to do? They are there, but i cant have access to them without root.
