I have just removed a program from my MDAiii and there is an icon left behind in my programs menu.
I want to remove this but I cant seem to locate it in explorer.
Can someone please tell me how to remove this small but nigglin pain?
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
then remove it... done!
I have tried exploring for it via my PC and it doesn't appear in my program files directory.
The icon is for a the game A VIKING SAGA.
I have even searched for any file with the contents "viking" in the name and it cannot find the file.
I have also searched for .exe using the search facility on XP but it replies with no files found!
Now it must exist somewhere otherwise it wouldn't appear in my program files list.
BUT WHERE?
suggestion
in ppc file explorer press a little longer and enable "view all files" and then see if u can find it!
or enable vie all files on PC and try!
I have view all files enabled on my PC and still no luck!
Where is the option to view all files on my MDA file explorer?
I apologise for my stupidity but I have only had it for two days!
Are you looking in the right directory?
Should be:
My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Cheers Neil!
Sorry everyone - I was looking in the wrong place but now I know!
DOH
I'm new to the forum. I have just bought a XDA Orbit and I need some advice.
When I use bluetooth to beam a file from my PC to my XDA, where does the file go ? file path ?
When using File Explorer, it seeme to take a lifetime to move between folders, is this down to the App or the XDA ?
When you unzip and copy files to the SD card, do they need to go a particular location ? There does not seem to be a utility for format the SD card.
What do you use to edit the registry ?
I have tried to search the forum for answers, but I've been unsucessful
Thanks in advance for the help
UPO.
Beamed files go to the my documents folders, and phm registry editor is one of the best out there for the pocket pc, do a google search for it. Also, total commander is a great file explorer which also has a registry editor, but thats for the advanced user.

Thanks for the advice.

can anyone help me out here??? im trying to install the battery status cab for my wing but when i open it all it does link me to an internet page with the codes and doesnt actually boot an install
anyone know what im doing wrong???
The trick with .cab files is to open them on your DEVICE, not your computer.
Use activesync to connect to your Wing, then go to My Computer.
There should be an icon that says "mobile device". Click on that. Drag the .cab file to a place on the device that is easy to remember. Then go to the location of your Wing and open it simply by clicking (tapping) it.
No offense, but if you don't know this, you shouldn't Overclocking yet.
no i see what your saying, look this is what i did i downloaded the file extracted it with rar then put the files into their own folder on my storage card and i tried tapping it but it just brings up that stupid web page, i know alot about the phone and ive overclocked others before i just cant get this stupid cab to work
wow never mind i didnt know you werent supposed to extract the file ha i feel like an idiot
ok i have a excalibur and i have wm6 on it and im trying install apps on it it is unlocked but i have no clue what a cab file is or how to install it or how to run it is there anyone that can help me??? [email protected] THANK YOU
Generally, you install the cab file to your PC desktop, hook up your phone to your PC via Activesync, and after the sync operation, click the "Explore" icon in Activesync to open the folder with the contents of your phone, drag the cab file icon from your desktop into the new folder you've opened and it's on your phone. Then click on that program file in "File Explorer" on your phone and it will install onto your phone.
Generally, one posts with a topic that is useful and gives a summary of the problem, not "HELP ME!!"
Thanks
ok i have done that and it still wont install some sights say i need netcf 2.0 and i tried installing it and found out i have netcf 3.5 or something like that?
I have searched this forum and the internet for over an hour and I cannot find any software to access the touch hd from my desktop as activesymc doesnt give you access to the PPC windows directory .. I think Im just being a bit blind so can anyone point me in the right direction....
all I want to do is organise my programmes... delete dead shortcuts, organise programmes into new folders etc......
I tried using total commander as I thought this would do the job... to no avail.......
im not even sure Im explaining myself very well....lol
Hmmmm, I have this as standard in ActiveSync - Tools - Explore Pocket PC.
Do you not have that option available?

Click to collapse
I can explore the device from within activsync but it does not show the windows sub folder on the device....that is what I want to access
I figured it out/// i went into folder options within tools and selected show system files!!! woohoo
Update: annoyingly I can only move some of the programmes to folders I have created - all the programmes that came pre-installed on the device only let you copy shortcuts not move them....argh!!!
Do you have total commander - this is a much better file manager than the standard.
Also, it will generally let you move protected files.
