I have searched this forum and the internet for over an hour and I cannot find any software to access the touch hd from my desktop as activesymc doesnt give you access to the PPC windows directory .. I think Im just being a bit blind so can anyone point me in the right direction....
all I want to do is organise my programmes... delete dead shortcuts, organise programmes into new folders etc......
I tried using total commander as I thought this would do the job... to no avail.......
im not even sure Im explaining myself very well....lol
Hmmmm, I have this as standard in ActiveSync - Tools - Explore Pocket PC.
Do you not have that option available?

I can explore the device from within activsync but it does not show the windows sub folder on the device....that is what I want to access
I figured it out/// i went into folder options within tools and selected show system files!!! woohoo
Update: annoyingly I can only move some of the programmes to folders I have created - all the programmes that came pre-installed on the device only let you copy shortcuts not move them....argh!!!
Do you have total commander - this is a much better file manager than the standard.
Also, it will generally let you move protected files.

I have just removed a program from my MDAiii and there is an icon left behind in my programs menu.
I want to remove this but I cant seem to locate it in explorer.
Can someone please tell me how to remove this small but nigglin pain?
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
then remove it... done!
I have tried exploring for it via my PC and it doesn't appear in my program files directory.
The icon is for a the game A VIKING SAGA.
I have even searched for any file with the contents "viking" in the name and it cannot find the file.
I have also searched for .exe using the search facility on XP but it replies with no files found!
Now it must exist somewhere otherwise it wouldn't appear in my program files list.
BUT WHERE?
suggestion
in ppc file explorer press a little longer and enable "view all files" and then see if u can find it!
or enable vie all files on PC and try!
I have view all files enabled on my PC and still no luck!
Where is the option to view all files on my MDA file explorer?
I apologise for my stupidity but I have only had it for two days!
Are you looking in the right directory?
Should be:
My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Cheers Neil!
Sorry everyone - I was looking in the wrong place but now I know!

I know everyone is going to think this is the obvious thing. I have copied the manila file I want with Total Commander to various locations outside of the Windows directory, but I still can't see the files on my PC. They show up in the new locations on my phone using either Total Commander or File Explorer.
I have not had this problem prior to the new ROM that I loaded, see sig. Is it a ROM problem?
I got around this, by creating a zip file with Total Commander. the zip file was visible from my PC, and when I opened it the manila file was visible and usable, but it's not ideal to have to do this each time I want to get manila files to my PC. If anyone has any suggestions, why I wouldn't be able to see them using Windows 7 64-bit, that would be great.

Turn on 'show hidden files' and turn off 'hide protected operating files' in your folder view settings.
Hi everyone,
sorry to bother you with such a beginner question but I'm trying to access /windows directory from my computer when my device is connected to it but I can't find it.
First, I thought we can't get to it and looked for an app to get the access but I don't find anything...
So, do you know a way to access /windows directory from your computer?
Thank you a lot!
A Windows setting on your PC is hiding certain folders/files, and that extends to your phone when viewing the phone from the PC.
On your PC, in Windows Explorer or similar screen where you can see files and folders, click on Organize>Folder Options>View. Exactly where this is and what it's called depends on which version of Windows you have. Then select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" and unselect "Hide protected operating system folders".
I have a Tilt 2 running 6.5 with the new ROM. I have added new ringtones to the 'My Documents/My Ringtones' and those work great.
However, I am at a lack to figure out how to add new tones for the Reminders. It appears it uses a completely different set of tones and I don't like any of them or they are too soft. I want to add my own Reminder tones.
Is there a way to do this?
How are these tones installed into the phone?
Thank you,
Exlorador of file, my tones of stamp, you choose the one that you like, to edit, to copy, folder windows, to edit, to stick and I list. You can add all those that you should love. I you hope to have helped in something.
I appologize, but your post doesn't mean very much to me.
You seem to indicate you have tones, but you don't provide a link to where they are. I do not need new tones.
I did discover that the "Reminder" tones are in the "Windows" folder, but none of the tools I have allow access to the "Windows" folder.
Does anyone have any tools that will allow transfering files into the Windows folder?
Thanks

Use Total Commander. Works great and it's free...
We are talking about the "Windows" folder on the Tilt 2 phone correct?
Because when I installed the Total Commander on my PC it didn't even see the phone, let alone see the "Windows" folder on the phone.
With Vista, even the default Windows Explorer shows the phone and subfolders, but it does not show the "Windows" folder, which is what I am attempting to gain access to.
Thanks,
Richard..

Yes... the Windows folder on the phone...
Don't use the PC version of Total Commander. That won't help you. You need to install Total Commander on your phone. There is a PPC version on that site. Install it, then copy files you want to transfer to your somewhere on your phone (your Storage Card would be best), then copy to your device's Windows folder using Total Commander on your phone.
I hope this helps...
Also, I believe you can change the folder settings on your PC to allow you to see the Windows folder, but it still may not let you copy system files there. Total Commander always lets you do that.
