[REQ] how to sort/tidy start menu - Touch HD Themes and Apps

hi all,
I'm running Miri' lastest 2.5 manila ROM and I'm having some problems tidying up the start menu.
I'd like to have a few extra folders, tools, connections, mutimedia and such. I have created these folders in \windows\start menu\programs ok and i copied all the shortcuts into the correct folder and then i deleted the oringal shortcuts.
My problem is that even though the apps i have installed since I flashed my phone have now moved to the correct folder, the apps that are included on the ROM are still present in the start menu and my folders.
Have i missed a step here?
Is there another location i need to go to to remove the links in the start menu?
Presently if i open \windows\start menu\programs with a file explorer there is nothing in there but the folders i created (no shortcuts). If i open the start menu from my home screen all the shortcuts come back!!
Any ideas anyone??
Cheers in advance

Same is here. Looking for answer as well !!!

Location: Icons for the Programs Menu

Upon install some third party applications, two icons for a program will install in the programs menu instead of just one (not talking Start Menu). These are not two separate installs, but two shortcuts to the same program. Under Remove Programs there is only one program instance.
On a related note, I had switched phones and had installed Beta player on my SD card..it was still there, of course, but now an icon does not appear in the Programs folder.
1. Where do I go to remove or add shortcuts into the Programs Menu?
2. How do I do so? (if it is too long to type out, where can I read about doing so?)
Thanks,
First a real file explorer then find the links here....
Get a real file explorer first. The Windows standard one is terrible and you can not see many files that savy users need to see (such as the shortcuts I mention below). RESCO is a good and popular one. Then you can find the program shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu\Programs. These are just links to the actual executables and if you get the file properties you can see where they link to.
Alt file explorers
Ah...I figured it was something simple like that. I will download some file explorers and try them out.
Thanks ;-)
Resco Fixed it
Once I could see and read everything on the pda, everything was a breeze. Thanks again.
Hey is there a way to show the programs as a list when you go through the menu or does it have to show the full icons?

Shortcut .LNK settings page

Does anyone know the .lnk for the Settings folder page? I dont need the one for the folder itself but the one to the regular page showing in icons view Hopefully someone out there understands what Im trying to ask for.
+1
More specifically, is there a LNK that points to the Windows DEFAULT Settings folder, not the Manila Settings (which is HTCSettingsEntry.exe contained in settings.lnk in the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder).
I believe it's going to be something along the lines of ctlpnl.exe... but I can't find the solution.
Anyone???
Just create folder ''Settings'' in Windows\Start Menu folder - restart device and you will have Settings folder back in start menu.

can i just delete att icons?

I just started over on my hermes, and would like to know if I can just delete the att music(and other att crap) program from fileexplorer:Mydevice\windows\start menu\programs\AT&T Music
if I could delete from here and get the icon off the start menu that would be great. I would like to delete other att icons as well. If anyone has done this before could you give me heads up to problems that may arise.
Thanks,
Nicholas
P.s i did do some searching.
You can delete the icons no problem. The programs will still be on you system just no icons to link to them any more.
the \windows\start menu folder is a personal folder indeed which you can customize the way you want and which leads to customizing the Programs folder on your Start Menu
PS ignore the "file delete of a system file popup confirmation"

Help, Missing Setting's folder in Start Menu

Im using MIghtyROMS current version and I was using total commander to move some utilities into the settings folder. I did something and the settings folder turned into a file? it was no longer a directory... so know when i navigate to /windows/startmenu/programs/ there is no directory for settings. When i am in touchflo and i go to the start menu i can see a "settings" folder and navigate to it just fine and it still has the original docs/shortcuts in it.. what did i do where can i go to add/delete items out of the settings folder??
i know that i am missing something or looking in the wrong area...

[Q] Adding new programs from .cab files into Start Menu folders?

Hello, I just had a question about adding new programs on my Rhodium. Whenever I install a new program over active sync, or through a .cab file, it places the link to the program (the icon) right in my start menu (Using a Rom that has WM 6.5 with the new start page)
But, in my start page, there are folders like "Internet," "Tools," and "Multimedia" that I would like to add my new programs into. For example, I want my Slacker Radio app I just installed to show up in the Multimedia folder instead of just thrown at the end of my start menu.
I was wondering if there's any tweaks or anything to get my new programs to be installed to one of these folders instead of just the start menu.
You can use Total Commander or JSPA Program Manager to move the shortcuts to the desired folder. JSPA is the easiest to use and is free.

Click to collapse
Thank you, I'll give JSPA a try right now!
