As more and more Chef end their awesome work on the Hermes because they´ll buy a new device like MaHaRoX and Schap or brick their Hermes like PaY87 or Abusalza (PDA Corner), time for Hermes seems to come to an end after almost three years on the market.
Which device will be your next?
I think Touch Diamond Pro (Raphael)
Even jasjamming will cook again for that device. Check the new Raphael thread and you will see how many chefs are going there..
That was my first idea also - the Raphael.
What about the SE X1? It´s also produced by HTC, I guess.
i going to Raphael too...
my first thought: iphone 3 g or raphael
after second thought : raphael
Hi,
i hope htc have at next year 5 megapixel camera and real flash.
This 5 MP (more is better) Device is my Favorit.
The best mobile camera and real flash is in Samsung SGH-i8510.
Also not bad would be a GPU.

i will stick on the hermes threads for unknown period. still waiting to get new 2nd hand hermes. i hope my old hermes came back on good condition (if possible) from repair centre. i 'll sell it to buy new device (hope with one i can handle 4 flavour of my rom).
i will keep my new hermes coz to many people have contribution for give me one. thanksssssss for all donators and hermes community
Im quite tempted To get a Raphael, blow my student loan on it, though I only just got my Hermes.
The problem is, that I normally get the phones when the great guys here at XDA have sorted out all the annoying problems (first Blue angel now Hermes)
Ill have to see what the early reviews ect say, and how many problems pop up.
I was thinking about getting a Kaiser, but its just the same phone with more ram, and iffy vid drivers ;/
"blow my student load on it"
hey keep it civil!
I am hoping to get a Kaiser within the next 2-4 months. Love my Hermes to death, but I would love to have built in GPS and a bit more available memory. Since I have T-Mobile US, I'm trying not to get anything too extravagant since they're slower than a snail to roll out 3G.
I'm going to stick with Hermes until Touch Diamond Pro comes to at&t in USA...looks like I'll see the rest of you guys in 2010.
Don´t worry! The Raphael is even not out in Germany until now.

Woopss! I blame Firefox spell checker and proofreading! sorry! all fixed now
I have been drooling over the Touch Pro all day, maybe if I can get it for £400
It will be my first "new" HTC phone!
Omnia
I'm thinking that the Samsung i900 (Omnia) will be my next device after the Hermes. Still WinMo, so I'm sure ROM updates will continue in my future, but it looks like it has everything that I want. We shall see -- I do love HTC devices...
maybe one of these.
touch pro, XPeria and omnia.
hmm
For me will be a kaiser, known issues already been 'fixed' by the doctors here, and plenty support. after that I will get a raphael, after it has been in distribution for two or so years.
same choose. in the end of year, or maybee later will jump to kaiser. when all troubles whith raphael gone, and his price become more polite. I realy love the backslide qwerty, only thing I miss is a little more bigger display.
Can anyone tell me, is a kaiser much faster than a Hermes, with the new drivers ect?
I just watched a vid of the touch pro, quite speedy, even with HTC's default rom.
Anyone got any pics of a kaiser running a new rom in action or anything? GPS would be nice, but I dunno if its much of an overall upgrade.
raphael???
hmm that's a dream for me now
but if i able to cook rom for this one, it will give me more experience

At least that confirms the 2.0 version we've seen? And the release date Hurray!
wew
that's grate news
TFLo3d
It's not as responsive as I see it in the youtube vids.
Seems to run flawlessly.
I notice a real slow down when I import contacts. I have quite a few.
and what is with the new versions of WM?
To the question : "WM6.5 or WM7 on diamond ?", the answer is "YEEES ! you will have WM6.1++ !!!"
I think it means we won't have them from HTC, as they probably reserve it for a brand new phone they'll try to sell us...
But XDA developpers are the bests, so i'm sure we can expect them to cook a nice WM7 Rom as soon as it will be available...
Let's hope WM7 will be able to run on our Diamonds. Can't wait till the release!
Not too sound too negative, but I mean WM6 kills the diamond - it makes it choke (cooked ROM's or not).
Hopefully that won't be the case for WM7. Because up to this point, I'm rooting Android all the way
This is pure speculation from all of us, since we're talking about an unreleased product. That said, Windows 7 beta seems a lot snappier than Vista (I know - doesn't say much) and slightly faster than XP. So, maybe WM7 will run faster than 6.1?
Some people have mentioned WM7, I highly doubt HTC will release 6.5 for the Diam/Raph/BlackS, never mind 7.
Good thing we have xda-devs, though I suspect that 7 will require new and diff. hardware in phones, such as multitouch.
how reliable is the news?
yea wm really sucks.. ms is really poor at innovation..
diamond doesnt have multi touch?
anyway been waiting for a new official rom for a damn long time.. was tempted to flash to a cooked rom.. so i guess can wait till jan for now to see what they offer..
Hopefully they resolve issues like memory leak.. and learn from the forums what the users really expect of the diamond and tf3d..
LOL when it be wm7 upgrade you ll have another **** phone from htc so what are you solving here i consider that due to ms is poor bastard* wm7 will be at 2010...just look to articles and news...

The guy interviewed is:
"Selskapets produktsjef for de nordiske og baltiske markedene, Christer Högström" ==> "HTC's Chief of Products for the nordic and baltic markets, Christer Högström"
So probably as reliable as it gets before the actual download is available.
Edit:
HTC actually got a bunch of questions regarding WM6.5 on current models, to sum up they're answers:
HTC will have to pay an upgrade license per device for 6.1 to 6.5, the details regarding this is not all worked out yet, so he couldn't answer if there would be released official 6.5 updates and if it would be free or a upgrade fee involved.
I suppose most/many of the hardcore users would be interested in upgrading if the fee vs gains is the right...
Don't hold your breath!
If HTC release an official 6.5 ROM upgrade for the Diamond, I will video myself eating my device and post it on YouTube for all to see! New OS means sales of NEW devices.... this makes good sense for businesses. Why offer an upgrade for a device someone has already bought when they can sell you a nice new device with the latest OS installed?
Thank goodness for XDA Developers, that's what I say! We will have our upgrade one way or another!

I confirm! I sell it to a friend but in my opinion for more things is much better than my new diamond ... (only few ram)
Making an upgrade available for some small fee wouldn't be that bad. Bussinesswise I understand your viewpoints but on the other hand, I buy my phone for 500EUR ($800 or something) I think for that price I can get some service. If I get bad service I wouldn't stay with HTC, but frequent updates will make me buy another one (or your operator will buy another one for you with ur contract), if that's 500EUR every 2 years I think they can be really happy.
Hi all,
The title says it all: What will HTC change in their ROM-update?
I was wondering about this and like to know what you think of it.
At the moment, HTC has some functionalities covered that WM 6.5 will have build-in.
-Bigger menu's
-Better program list
-Touch flow (vinger friendly)
I'm hoping they will remove these features from the shell, so that the phone can have some memory back (since it's already integrated in the OS).
Also I'm a bit scared for the upgrade. Untill now, I havent seen any example of WM 6.5 that is as snappy (fast) as the touch pro 2 is, with it's stock rom.
Will HTC (be able to) polish it that good again?
To make this thread a bit more informative, only react with plausible suggestions.
Will they add extra features? (Will the FM-radio be activated?)
Regards
Fix the horrible memory leak like where all the f........ Memory gone please someone anyone fix this.

There is no memory leak on TP2, not that I have found yet.
The reason you have so little "free" memory is because of the heavy caching and apps running in background to improve responsiveness.
There is still plenty free for additional apps, and the OS will release more if it deems necessary.
Personally I prefer to have a snappier more responsive device than one with loads of free memory not being utilised.
As far as HTC updates, I believe WM6.5 will be the only update we will see and that's even a slim chance I think, although if they do release it officialy for TP2 I don't expect it to be as polished as the stock 6.1. (There is no financial beneift to them , so why bother..........)
Cheers

I allways hoping android will be converted from the hero rom onto tp2 and hen we will have the best device possible with android.

HTC are using an upgrade to 6.5 as a unique selling point for the device, so they have to provide it, the financial benefit would be extra sales before 6.5 is even released
Cheers

and then?

Yes mate, this has been done in the past too.
Doesn't mean it will be up to the standard that we have seen with this 6.1 though
Hopefully I am wrong and they do another stunning Rom (I won't hold my breath)
Cheers,

Well the update is expected pretty soon. (in 2 or 3 months). There won't be a WM phone from HTC out, like the touch pro 2. So a good update will provide more sales of the TP2.
But if it get sloppier, I will stay with wm 6.1. Ofcourse, if there will be a snappy and stable 6.5 version provided by XDA I will go for that, but I'm pretty hard headed in that. I think this time around it will take a lot time before the first GOOD custom roms will appear. Especially if they integrate TF3D. This piece of software has gotten a lot more complicated tot work with.
Every spec I look at for the T-Mobile TP2 it says it will have WM6.5 when it drops is that true? I looked at the spec for the other carriers for TP2 and they all say 6.1.
Just need someone who knows these things well to confirm because I read WM6.5 doesn't drop until this fall to around christmas time.
Thanks!
Someone has to know something!
It is WM6.5 Ready...
Most likely you will have to Buy the OS at additional cost.
The good old Orange day's where they did know what service was are over and done since T-Moblie acquired Orange.
But with a HardSPL (hopefully soon) who cares, just flash any ROM you like.
Why do I have to buy the OS if it comes with it?
It will launch (Aug 12th) with 6.1, but once MS releases 6.5 you will be able to upgrade to 6.5. What is unknown is whether T-mo will provide that update or if we are going to have to get the update from HTC. I highly doubt we will have to pay for it either. Kinda like when tmo provided an update to win mo 6.1. it was free.
T-Mobile Netherlands will provide the WM6.5 upgrade for free. It says so in my contract and manual. Too bad T-Mo is always way behind when HTC provides upgrades. On the other hand... i'm not welcoming 6.5 with open arms. I rather have a speedy 6.1 ROM for my Rhodium. 6.5 or HardSPL... i go for the latter.
Alright thanks for clearing that up. But I rather have WM6.5!!!
Question!
WindowsPhone is WM6.5 or WM7? Is their even a 7?
There is no WM7 yet, but there supposed to be one sometime in 2010!
Is their a release date for the official WM6.5? I saw a video on WM 6.5 where the guy said it will be released around Christmas time.
The guy was doing a demo on what looks like the final version of WM6.5 with the HTC Diamond 2 I think it was. Anyone seen that video? (He had his legs crossed through out the whole video with blue jeans.) Lol
I'm at work and I'm restricted to certain sites so youtube is a no no.
Hello everyone. Can I have some expert opinion please? Do we think that the tilt 2 which was just released last Oct. and I just got mine last week, will be able to support windows mobile 7? Do we think that AT&T will upgrade the OS when it comes out? Being and owner of win mo phones since the 8125 first came out, I know how slow AT&T is to release updated OS's.
This is by no means an "expert" opinion. But the general consensus nowadays is that only the HD2 is confirmed to support WinMo7 and our TP2 will not.
But, consider this:
-WinMo 6.5 was not meant to be on the Touch Diamond.
-WinMo devices were not meant to run Android.
-Sense 2.5 was not meant to come to our TP2.
Yet all the above are happening thanks to the great minds of XDA developers...
I'm not an expert at all...
But it seems like it's one thing for W7 to be somehow cooked to run on the TP2, but another thing for it to run well, without excessive lag (for example).

This is a great point. Whenever someone dares to mention WinMo7 on the TP2, you get flamed and the spec impossibilities yelled at your face. But exactly my point about what people said "couldn't" be done!
It definitely won't be easy, but as long as the OS is cook-able, somebody will take on the task.
What worries me is though, WM7 may not be WM at all! Several reports told something about Zune OS being used instead, and being incompatible with any of the old applications. I hope not

The Zune OS is based off of the Windows CE kernel, which is also the base for Windows Mobile, so there wouldn't be complete incompatibility as some of the false rumors lead you to believe. There are a lot of blatantly false rumors floating around on even the most respected WM sites, so take every unconfirmed rumor you read about WM 7 with a grain of salt.
Though I would love Windows Mobile 7 on the Touch Pro2, I have to say that it's pretty unlikely it'll happen. First, to everyone who gives the example of WM6 running on WM5 devices and WM6.5 running on WM 6.x/5.x devices, the reason this is easy is because all these operating systems (WM5-WM6) run the same Windows CE 5.2 kernel. It's a lot easier to backport an OS when it uses the same kernel. Windows Mobile 7 is going to be based off Windows CE 6 or 7, and it'll likely take a hell of a lot of low-level work to get WM7 on the Pro2.
If you don't believe me, look in this thread at PPCGeeks, where some of the most technical people discuss this issue in more detail. It seems to me that we'll need a new everything, from the SPL and bootloader to new hardware drivers (since it's extremely unlikely that WM7 will support the Qualcomm MSM series considering the rumored WM 6.5.x and WM 7 coexistance scheme, where only 6.5 supports lower end devices and hardware like the MSM series).
I'm not saying I don't want WM 7 on the Rhodium, since I really do, but I am trying to be realistic here, so I'm gonna say it's likely no to WM 7 on the Pro2.
one guy from htc russia announced WM7 minimal requirements: 8Gb onboard, CPU1GHz,FM, 5Mpx,compass,G-sensor,3,6",WVGA.
but of course its not true
My Universal (2005) came with wm5!
Then upgraded to wm6, then to wm6.1 and I got it working with wm6.5
I´m sure the great chefs here will manage something so we can have wm7 for sure!
