Hard Reset TMobile TPII - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

This is the strangest thing... I cannot perform a hard reset! I followed the directions from the TMO manual and it won't work as well as trying the reset for the non TMO tpII.
Any ideas?

Did you try the "Clear Storage" icon in Settings -> System?

I did accomplish that however in the past with other HTC phones that never seems to be as complete a reset as one done via hardware buttons

Make sure you are doing it with the power off...I tried about 5 times and id did not work...then I had my wife read the directions to me to make sure I was not over looking something. Sure enough I kept trying it with the power on. Powered down device and it worked.

Universal Radio Upgrades - Hard vs. Soft Reset

OK I think I just did a stupid thing!
I thought that a Radio only upgrade didn't require a Hard Reset (i.e. to Factory defaults and losing all your local data / program installs).
So I went from 1.09 to 1.11, hit the 'reset' button on completion and the stupid thing did a hard reset!
So where did I go wrong - well I think it is because I did the radio upgrade as a standard upgrade just by running the normal update files with only the new radio ROM file present and no other ROM files.
What I didn't do was to enter the BootLoader manually first I left it all up to the RUU files to do the job
Is it this (not manually entering the bootloader first - like the Wiki tells you to - mind you it also tells you to hard reset) which caused the hard reset which was beyond my control :?:
I'm sure I've changed the Radio ROM only on my old BA without all this hassle - just can't remember what I did differently.
From what I remember, you are supposed to press the reset pin hole while pushing down on the ON/OFF button. This would cause it to soft reset according to the on-screen instructions, and it did on mine when I tried it. But of course, I also performed a backup to be on the safe side.
Really not my day today - Whilst reinstalling and going through reset cycles my Exec turned into a brick
Stuck at boot-screen with ROM versions showing
Hopefully the Wiki resolution to this one is going to work..
Ever wish you'd just left the thing alone
Whenever I've done a radio upgrade, I've simply pressed the reset button with the tip of the stylus - that's it.
I've done about 6 up/downgrades, I would guess, and not had any problems. I hope you get yours sorted out.
Cheers,
Steve.

At least I'm not going mad then - That's exactly what I did before this all went pear-shaped.
Did you upgrade whilst in the bootloader or just from WM5 running normally?

WM5 running normally - to be fair, it sometimes took a few attempts for the upgrade to "take", but once it was going, I've had no problems - glad to hear you manage to de-brick it.
Cheers,
Steve.

No, haven't tried via bootloader.
I am not sure how safe is that, I mean i dont have my rom backup and i don't wanna mess and brick my phone trying something that i am not confident of.
So please tell me if Factory reset is safe vua bootloader ? I mean i won't have to install ROM and Kernal stuff again right ? Just a simple Factory reset and my phone will roar back to life after format ? Right ?
Check out this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243318
This makes me think twice before attempting reset via bootloader.

Hey man, I appreciate you going beyond the line for helping me out by performing a factory reset yourself ! Seriously, Thank you bro.
Haha, since it does nothing, i am glad you didn't have to take pains of reconfiguring everything after reset .
The primary reason i wanted to perform reset was, lately i am getting error "System UI stopped" and really runs low on ram.
Instead of reset, try going to recovery and choose fix permissions. That should help that problem to go away
Looks like the comment that this was a reply to has been cleaned from the thread. Sorry for adding to the ot

[Q] Hotspot toggle gone.

Hi everyone. I'm stock, unrooted and running 5.0.1. I did a factory reset and just before the phone actually reset, the little android guy said performing system update. When the phone was restored, the Hotspot and tethering toggle under connections was gone. I chatted with both Sprint and Samsung about this and both were clueless. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know why or how to get the toggle back? Thanks in advance.
The first time I flashed Lollipop it wouldn't access any sd card. I searched for hours to find any kind of solution but nothing worked. I wiped everything. Data, System, Cache, everything (except my sd card) and flashed Lollipop again (from the same image) and now everything works perfectly. If you have crazy problems, a full wipe and reflash should fix it.

Thanks. I tried all that to no avail. After two trips to the Sprint store and half an hour on the phone with tech support, no one knows why it's not there. Sprint is going to replace my phone.
I dont have a 'hotspot and tethering icon in my notifications toggles..
BUT.. it is under settings, connections, turn it on there..

Google is your friend here.
This is a fairly well known tool for all galaxy phones. It has an option to enable all toggles that are hidden by default:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../app-one-click-hotspot-enabler-menus-t2816159
Check unknown sources, download, install, run, scroll down, 1 tap.
Worked on my friend's Sprint Note 4 on Lollipop. Good luck.

Thanks. Sprint already replaced my phone, but I'll keep this in mind. Although this requires root and my phone was not rooted which makes the whole thing even stranger.

Now that Sprint replace your phone, did the toggle magically reappear? Did the phone they give you was on lollipop, and then did you do an update over the air? And then did the toggle re disappear?

No one at Sprint or Samsung was able to figure out why the toggle disappeared. Sprint replaced the phone with one that was already running lollipop. The toggle was on the replacement phone.

I was stock, non-rooted on Kit Kat. Had thetoggle.
OTA to lollipop, 5.0.1. Had the toggle.
Did a factory reset. No toggle.
Im wondering if the OTA and factory reset made the toggle go away?
Lets say i flashed with Odin the tar for BOB7...
and did factory reset in recovery,
then will the toggle stay?
Has any-1 here flashed the stock tar and retained the 'hhotspot' toggle?
Can you post a s/s of the toggle please?

Right..
The 'setting' is there under settings..
BUT, the OP said that there was a 'toggle' in the pull down notification bar.
I cant remember seeing one there, untill I MSL'ed the hotspot turned on. Thats when I started to notice..
Was it ever there in the first place???

My apologies. I've been calling it a toggle. The "setting" for hotspot and tether under "settings" is what disappeared. So without it I couldn't even get to the actual toggle that turns the hotspot on. Under connections, it just went Bluetooth>Airplane Mode. But the setting was there before the factory reset.
Did anybody figure why the settings is gone. I did the same the same thing for my mom phone hot spot there. I search for hot spot on mine and it can't be found. I did the update and the msl hack and nothing.

I would suggest to do a factory reset in recovery to try and get it back.
And if that doest work, then I suggest to Odin flash the BOB7 and see if it comes back without an additional factory reset.
good luck..
Heres what mine looks like..
I took the OTA update and factory reset twice in recovery.

Good for you. The factory reset is what made the setting disappear on my phone and could never get it back.

The OTA made it disappear, and the factory reset put it back. On my mom phone no affect.

A factory reset usually fixes those sorts of problems.

I think it's best you send it back to where you got it then and let them have a look. Otherwise you could try flashing your original firmware again incase your current one has missing components.

Send it it back is definitely not going to happen cause I've tried that lol... But to flash the firmware wouldn't I need USB debugging checked? I hope not cause i can't get to it and is there any tutorials that could give me a step by step instructions?

yes, the "find my phone" service will work after a hard reset or new FW install, it just needs to be set back up again. If youre asking if your phone can be located after it was, for instance, stolen and them wiped and so forth, the answer is still yes, but it would take more resources than recovering a phone is worth.
If your phone was taken and you fear that it was wiped and had new FW flashed on it, write it off and move on to anther device. Its gone
