[Q] Hotspot toggle gone. - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I'm stock, unrooted and running 5.0.1. I did a factory reset and just before the phone actually reset, the little android guy said performing system update. When the phone was restored, the Hotspot and tethering toggle under connections was gone. I chatted with both Sprint and Samsung about this and both were clueless. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know why or how to get the toggle back? Thanks in advance.

The first time I flashed Lollipop it wouldn't access any sd card. I searched for hours to find any kind of solution but nothing worked. I wiped everything. Data, System, Cache, everything (except my sd card) and flashed Lollipop again (from the same image) and now everything works perfectly. If you have crazy problems, a full wipe and reflash should fix it.

Thanks. I tried all that to no avail. After two trips to the Sprint store and half an hour on the phone with tech support, no one knows why it's not there. Sprint is going to replace my phone.

I dont have a 'hotspot and tethering icon in my notifications toggles..
BUT.. it is under settings, connections, turn it on there..

Google is your friend here.
This is a fairly well known tool for all galaxy phones. It has an option to enable all toggles that are hidden by default:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../app-one-click-hotspot-enabler-menus-t2816159
Check unknown sources, download, install, run, scroll down, 1 tap.
Worked on my friend's Sprint Note 4 on Lollipop. Good luck.

Thanks. Sprint already replaced my phone, but I'll keep this in mind. Although this requires root and my phone was not rooted which makes the whole thing even stranger.

Now that Sprint replace your phone, did the toggle magically reappear? Did the phone they give you was on lollipop, and then did you do an update over the air? And then did the toggle re disappear?

No one at Sprint or Samsung was able to figure out why the toggle disappeared. Sprint replaced the phone with one that was already running lollipop. The toggle was on the replacement phone.

I was stock, non-rooted on Kit Kat. Had thetoggle.
OTA to lollipop, 5.0.1. Had the toggle.
Did a factory reset. No toggle.

Im wondering if the OTA and factory reset made the toggle go away?
Lets say i flashed with Odin the tar for BOB7...
and did factory reset in recovery,
then will the toggle stay?
Has any-1 here flashed the stock tar and retained the 'hhotspot' toggle?
Can you post a s/s of the toggle please?

I flashed the stock bob7 tar and the toggle was still missing. the toggle is located in settings between bluetooth and airplane mode.

Right..
The 'setting' is there under settings..
BUT, the OP said that there was a 'toggle' in the pull down notification bar.
I cant remember seeing one there, untill I MSL'ed the hotspot turned on. Thats when I started to notice..
Was it ever there in the first place???

My apologies. I've been calling it a toggle. The "setting" for hotspot and tether under "settings" is what disappeared. So without it I couldn't even get to the actual toggle that turns the hotspot on. Under connections, it just went Bluetooth>Airplane Mode. But the setting was there before the factory reset.

Did anybody figure why the settings is gone. I did the same the same thing for my mom phone hot spot there. I search for hot spot on mine and it can't be found. I did the update and the msl hack and nothing.

I would suggest to do a factory reset in recovery to try and get it back.
And if that doest work, then I suggest to Odin flash the BOB7 and see if it comes back without an additional factory reset.
good luck..
Heres what mine looks like..
I took the OTA update and factory reset twice in recovery.

The OTA made it disappear, and the factory reset put it back. On my mom phone no affect.

[Q][Help] No service after rooting my Galaxy S3?

I haven't been able to find a solution to this yet. I rooted my phone last night and after that, I lost my signal. All I get in the top corner is the circle with the line through it in place of the signal bars. I've tried everything I can think of. I've re-downloaded the files and re-flashed my phone twice. I've even unrooted my phone and put the stock rom back on there and still nothing. I'm kind of at a loss right now and could use some advice on how to fix this. So if anyone knows a solution to this I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced for your help.

I am having this same issue...sadly
I've never had this happen with any of my other devices. Will I have to unroot back to stock, or can I use a stock rooted ROM? Because after dialing ##72786# in the dialer, it rebooted, and now says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" every two seconds...and still no service.
I'm worried, but am confident someone should be able to help me out on xda. I'm so impressed at all of the work that takes place on here. I wish I had the time to be able to learn how help others like myself in situations like this. :highfive:

Out of curiosity what happens when you do *#06# in the dialer? U still get a imei? Phone for closing is intriqing. Make a nadroid, wipe data/factory reset and format /system as well then reflash ur rom. If ur good after that advance restore the /data from ur nandroid
Yes, I do still have the MEID.

Hey...I found out why I didn't have service and was able to fix it. When I had flashed AOKP, there is a setting in the Mobile Networks screen to change the CDMA subscription to RUIM/SIM. Somehow (probably playing around) I changed it from the NV to RUIM/SIM. THEN, I nandroided back to stock, and had no service. As far as I know, that CDMA Subscription option isn't on the STOCK ROM...so I was baffled. Good thing I remembered what I did.
Thanks for all of your help.
Can anyone direct me to a link to alleviate an issue with only getting 1x data with AOKP? I can't seem to find a fix for it yet...I think I might not even have data actually...

[Q] Inaccessible OS after (Slimbean) ROM setting mistake

Long story short, with above average ROM knowledge, and two previous successful flashes under my belt, I flashed Slimbean JB 4.2.1 Beta1 for my Sprint GS3 SPH-L710, and all was quite fine until I messed with menu/security/SIM PIN. Though I thought I was setting it for extra phone security, I actually implemented an unknownst-to-me feature that upon the following reboot, the phone requested a PUK code for a now-locked SIM card (my phone doesn't have a SIM card by the way).
After a long CS call to Sprint, including International Sprint, I was told to go to a local store. The short part of this story is that no one has been able to help. You see, since I DON'T have a SIM card, I have no ID to provide to Int Sprint for them to find a PUK code for me to enter. Although, I've had many troubles in doing so, I have since been able to reset the phone to stock factory settings; HOWEVER, this has NOT removed the PUK code screen, which prevents me from using the phone at all.
I am out of ideas of things to change, alter or fix to get rid of this issue. I have tried CWM and TWRP solutions with no success. In a sense, although I can do anything with the phone - recovery, download, flashing - except actually use the OS, I would consider this phone as useless as if it were bricked at this point. Any ideas from out there would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have successfully returned boot, system and recovery to stock, but this has not resolved the overriding issue. I don't believe I have tried to re-root since doing so. Perhaps that is worth a try.
EDIT: rerooting after Odin stock flash did not help the issue.

I am afraid none of these tasks worked. This issue must reside somewhere recovery can't get to, and only the OS can. The software is likely built so that a regularly performed task can't override a security issue - even if it is a false issue.

Did you have to contact International Sprint CS or just regular? How long exactly did you badger them? Had you flashed the phone, increasing your Binary count? If so, did Sprint not hit you with a bill after replacement? Just curious, as I have really upped my count due to recovery flashes to try to fix the phone. I think I can still get a Samsung E-ticket through Sprint store for about $37.00. But again, I am concerned about the flash count, and being unable to reset it. Perhaps I should do what I can to really brick it once and for all before I turn it over.

Maybe give that a whirl. I believe you must be on stock tw for this to work effectively which it sounds like you should now be on.
On second thought, your phone may not even allow you get as far as being able to dial the activation number, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Yeah, I don't have any access to the phone OS whatsoever. Sprint tech has it now; doing some kind of process which includes a 40-minute file extraction and a 30+minute flash. Perhaps that will finally reset everything. If not, Sprint has already said it will then replace the phone.
Received a new GS3 today and I'm back in the game. Thank you to everyone who tried to assist me. In the end, no one on any forum, not Sprint, and not even Samsung could correct the original phone problem. The moral - be very cognizant and careful when flashing any CMDA variant of a native GSM ROM, as there could be settings within them regarding the SIM cards that GSM's do have, but CMDA's do not, or perhaps other harmful settings if messed with or changed. This warning is really nothing new to anyone flashing custom ROM's; it's simply another hard-learned lesson by one person whose adding more truth to the usefulness of such warnings.

Anyone have this issue?

So last night, I guess my phone was trying to download and install security update from samsung and failed. My battery died later cause it was low and after I recharged my phone and turned it on, my phone literally took a crap. Everything crashes even settings. Cant send a text out. Bluetooth wont turn on etc.
Now after I back up my photos somehow, what would be the best way to restore to keep root and CWM?
Settings-restore?
dl note 3 os then flash with CWM?
Thanks guys.

It's possible during your update critical files were missed do to power loss and were replaced on reboot? I unfortunately was not able to get passed the bootscreen to recovery or the system itself. So i was forced to divert back to stock firmware and start from the beggining. So if you run into any more issues you might start there. If you kept root all should be well i believe. :good:

Lg qmemo+ toggle resets after reboot

Recently I did reset my phone via lg support tool and restored my phone manually. Now everytime I reboot the quick toggle for q memo reappears on its own. I uncheck it from my toggles and reboot then its back again. The only way ive been able to stop it is to delete the app, but I use it(just not from the quick toggles) so I dont like that option. It wouldnt even really bother me if it didnt put it all the way in front of the other toggles... Anyone know how to fix this?
I got the EXACT same thing, damn, no idea how to work this out.
I tried flashing a new .kdz to no avail, this is so irritating.

That's tmobile's root checking app, I think the only way to stop it is to disable or uninstall all the tmobile bloat, all of it.
Maybe then it will go away.
Also report and diagnostic info needs to be turned off in settings / privacy and safty.

i ahve the same issue, did you fix it ?
Use titanium to delete it you don't need it
is an APP?, a custom rom ?, a root program ?

If you havent figured it out yet, try opening up titanium backup app and select the magnifying glass at the top to search and then type in com.tmobile.pr.adapt and freeze or uninstall from there. That worked for me.

So you're not rooted and you're having this issue? That's strange, yeah I really don't know how to get rid of it in that case. Maybe you should try downloading samsung smart switch software to your PC and use it to reset your phone, hopefully fixing the issue. Did you try that yet?
Unrooting as far as I know can't be done without doing a factory reset or flashing the stock factory image through Odin, so it's better to just try using smartswitch first. Just make sure to back up all of your data on your PC first, because I think smart switch may wipe your storage.

Yeah try using smart switch. It will take longer but it is more recommended. Also, I recommend you backup any files you have on your phone before using smartswitch because I don't remember if it wipes your storage or not.

ok, i root to unlock, then i reinstall stock firmware throw odin, reading what you say am still root, smart switch fails (cause i am root ?), how can i unroot safe ?, cause smart switch fails
I'm a little confused. So you tried smart switch and it failed? That means that you either are rooted now or were rooted at some point. If smart switch fails then the only other way is to Odin the stock firmware which will factory reset and unroot your phone. If you're familiar with Odin just download the stock tar file from the first page in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3144105
First boot into recovery pressing volume up+home+power and do a wipe data factory reset from there (assuming you have stock recovery). Then boot into download mode pressing vol down+home+power while phone is off and Flash stock through Odin and you will be factory reset and unrooted for sure as long as your device is a T-Mobile s6 edge 925T model. That should make your com.tmobile.pr.adapt battery drain go away as well.
Keep in mind that the tar file in the link is the stock 5.1.1 firmware so it will update you to 5.1.1 if you weren't already. Also this will wipe your data for sure so back that up to your PC before you do anything.
ok, i change computer, and smart switch works, how ever com.tmobile.pr.adapt still there :/
Hmm I'm really not sure after that honestly, I thought that would fix it for you. I've only had the com.tmobile issue while being rooted so I really don't know how to get rid of it without root and using titanium. Maybe someone else can weigh in and offer some advice..
TB only works to delete /remove if your rooted.

ok, i fix it (i guess), first i reinstall firmware throw smart switch (fails on windows, so i use my mac), then i install Package Disabler (play store), and i choose all tmobile apps, including com.tmobile.pr.adapt, all with out being root, at the moment my battery improves a lot, 98% baterry on standy after 2 hours (1 % per hour), and before, like 10% per hour
