Hello
How do you think that will issue an update for the HTC Diamond and Pro, which will include Windows Mobile 6.5? New versions of Diamond and Pro have the same processor, but 2 times more memory. The conference had used MS HTC Touch Pro 2, which is pretty good at handling inquired with WM6.5.
I do not know policy, HTC, so I ask you.
all,i think both Diamond and Pro will inclulde WM6.5.
No updates for current devices...
I think you'll find that HTC will not release official update for Diamond / Pro to WM6.5 - The new devices (Diamond 2, etc) will be released with WM6.1, but will get a free upgrade, when available, to WM6.5
So... the only way you're gonna get 6.5 on your Diamond is to use a cooked ROM from here. If I'm wrong, you can drag me naked through the streets behind a horse

Realy, I can?
Given that HTC is still selling Diamond and Touch Pro in many countries today, it is bad business decision for them not to provide updates to these phones as people would hesitate buying these models and would wait for Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2. And it is always bad to the business if prospective customers hold their purchase decision as these customers may be lured to other phones in the meanwhile.

Unfortunately this is not the case... M$ are only allowing 6.5 on newer phones that have a 'Start' key and a 'Back' key specifically. Hence the 'slight upgrade' to the TD2 and TP2.
No phones currently have these hard keys. I believe HTC are releasing these updated models prior to 6.5 solely for this reason - to have a phone already out that can handle and take WindowsPhone 6.5 (it's Windows Phone now guys ). I also think that is why HTC are offering free 6.5 upgrades for those that purchase these devices.

I was just sorting out a bridle but then I reckon you're right
I'm pretty sure "cooks" will figure out some other buttons to use for start & back ... don't worry we'll not only have 6.5, but we'll also have 6.5 running smoother than any possible official update from HTC.... just look at the current 6.1 roms!

it already has a back button, so cooks would just remap the home button i think
and wm6.5 beta is already working on a diamond right? so i dont think cooks would even bother to remap that key

Oh of course... I am running it on my diamond right now - I think it's faster than the 6.1 ROMS just quietly. Certainly opens Windows folder waaay quicker. Lacking a bit of polish and flashy-ness but more than good enough for daily use with some tweaks (and I added PointUI).
So no doubt we'll have it on our Diamonds for sure... And as you guys have said it's an obvious replacement for Start - Home key!
Just tryied out a 6.5 version on my Diamond.
Nothing so interesting:
Titanium interface instead of manila (vertical tabs instead of horizontal) not working well
Honeycomb menu is damn slow
Graphic (Mac like) scrollbars
Graphic (nice) context menu
As bilbo says "There and back again"...by now stai with 6.1 with some additional programs if you like.

What programs to add if I want 6.1 to look like 6.5?

me too, i want to install wm6.5
If you read the latest threads in this subforum you'll find wm 6.5 roms
Jesus, what are we ?? Digging threads from the grave ?
This is what I found on the official Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/devices/details.mspx?id=693
The specs say that the Rhodium runs Windows Mobile 6.1; Professional
Perhaps because 6.5 is not officially released yet?
Correct and correct WM6.5 is not released until 6/10 officially. HTC will release a free upgrade to 6.5 in due course, carriers may take a little while longer to release their upgrades.
If you are impatient there are many people running cooked 6.5 ROMS with success, check out the ROM dev section.
Gordon
Of course is not launched yet
Google it please!
this is what i found :|
www.google.com
my acer laptop has Windows VISTA!!! :|
Perhaps because windows 7 is not officially released yet?
:|
no just kidding, is kind of stupid to make a topic about this.. everyone knows this.
Hello everyone. Can I have some expert opinion please? Do we think that the tilt 2 which was just released last Oct. and I just got mine last week, will be able to support windows mobile 7? Do we think that AT&T will upgrade the OS when it comes out? Being and owner of win mo phones since the 8125 first came out, I know how slow AT&T is to release updated OS's.
This is by no means an "expert" opinion. But the general consensus nowadays is that only the HD2 is confirmed to support WinMo7 and our TP2 will not.
But, consider this:
-WinMo 6.5 was not meant to be on the Touch Diamond.
-WinMo devices were not meant to run Android.
-Sense 2.5 was not meant to come to our TP2.
Yet all the above are happening thanks to the great minds of XDA developers...
I'm not an expert at all...
But it seems like it's one thing for W7 to be somehow cooked to run on the TP2, but another thing for it to run well, without excessive lag (for example).

This is a great point. Whenever someone dares to mention WinMo7 on the TP2, you get flamed and the spec impossibilities yelled at your face. But exactly my point about what people said "couldn't" be done!
It definitely won't be easy, but as long as the OS is cook-able, somebody will take on the task.
What worries me is though, WM7 may not be WM at all! Several reports told something about Zune OS being used instead, and being incompatible with any of the old applications. I hope not

The Zune OS is based off of the Windows CE kernel, which is also the base for Windows Mobile, so there wouldn't be complete incompatibility as some of the false rumors lead you to believe. There are a lot of blatantly false rumors floating around on even the most respected WM sites, so take every unconfirmed rumor you read about WM 7 with a grain of salt.
Though I would love Windows Mobile 7 on the Touch Pro2, I have to say that it's pretty unlikely it'll happen. First, to everyone who gives the example of WM6 running on WM5 devices and WM6.5 running on WM 6.x/5.x devices, the reason this is easy is because all these operating systems (WM5-WM6) run the same Windows CE 5.2 kernel. It's a lot easier to backport an OS when it uses the same kernel. Windows Mobile 7 is going to be based off Windows CE 6 or 7, and it'll likely take a hell of a lot of low-level work to get WM7 on the Pro2.
If you don't believe me, look in this thread at PPCGeeks, where some of the most technical people discuss this issue in more detail. It seems to me that we'll need a new everything, from the SPL and bootloader to new hardware drivers (since it's extremely unlikely that WM7 will support the Qualcomm MSM series considering the rumored WM 6.5.x and WM 7 coexistance scheme, where only 6.5 supports lower end devices and hardware like the MSM series).
I'm not saying I don't want WM 7 on the Rhodium, since I really do, but I am trying to be realistic here, so I'm gonna say it's likely no to WM 7 on the Pro2.
one guy from htc russia announced WM7 minimal requirements: 8Gb onboard, CPU1GHz,FM, 5Mpx,compass,G-sensor,3,6",WVGA.
but of course its not true
My Universal (2005) came with wm5!
Then upgraded to wm6, then to wm6.1 and I got it working with wm6.5
I´m sure the great chefs here will manage something so we can have wm7 for sure!
After 2 years on Blackberry, I have to give it up. Since I'm somewhat short on cache now, I'm planning going back to my Tytn. When I did use it, I remember liking it besides ocasional lock ups.... Is it possible to flash Tytn with Android to get a better stbility? Generaly, how do you consider Tytn to perform in 2010?

For now isn't posible use android over Hermes Read here when linux is runned normally over hermes maybe and android will be ported
Search the forum for android and you could have found earlier threads.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6130350&postcount=2
Very true sadly the hermes has reached its last upgrade, the WM6.5 and 6.6 (6.5.X) cause even HD2 will not get wm7 upgrade maybe a ultralight version of it can runs but it has many drivers issues imagine a turtle with wheels and hermes is already dead cause wm6.5 and or 6.5.X is heavy for hermes.
Is there any existing roms for diamond with Windows 7 phone?
Or is there any projects which are planning to make a Windows 7 based ROM for Diamond?
There are vids on the web displaying Windows 7 Phone on Diamond, but i believe they were uncovered as fakes using RDP.
The phone is laggy enough on Windows Mobile and Android. And you want to run a Snapdragon needed Windows version on the Touch Diamond?
Think before you ask a silly question.

That was a silly answer.
The correct answer would simply have been no, Windows 7 requires a much more powerful phone.
There are some good themes for SPB Mobile Shell that represent WP7 pretty well

The question was realy silly. He just want to give a hint to the creater of the thread: if everyone would just create a threat for every sh**, then we would have a lot of spam here....................
Although I would have refrained from creating this thread I want to remind everybody that my beloved HTC Magician was in the same position once:
It was shipped with WM2003SE. Years later WM6 came out. Several threads asked for updates. Nothing. WM6.1 came out. Lots more of those threads. Nothing. WM6.5 came out and what was that? Someone hacked together WM6.1 for this forgotten device, which was always told: you're to old, slow, bad, ****ty, rotten, ... In between we have WM6.5 for it.
Maybe it will come,in my opinion it won't,but as Chatty said is stupid to spam those board,if and when it will come si unknown
Someone works on a "Like wp7 rom" for the HD2. But´its only win mobile 6.5.
Maybe someone can port it to the diamond.

You're soo right about this. My HP iPAQ hx2750 had WM 6.5.3 tough everyone said that WM6 would not possibole to run on that. Even the Android with the Diamond, a lot of people said, that it is not possibole. And what now? It works on the Diamond. A little slow, but works. The same will happen to WP7. It will be very slow, but it will run.
