Ok.. so I work for a T-Mobile exclusive dealer here in the US.. the HTC representatives stopped by my store today to ask a few questions about how the dash and the MDA were selling at my store.. after talking and chatting for a while, one of the reps pulls out what they call the "T-mobile Wing" which will be releasing late May.. its a really slim version of the MDA with a nice full rubber keypad.. and best of alll, Windows Mobile 6..
I pulled out my 8525(hermes) and compared the OS's.. Keep in mind, I'm running XDALive v0.20.. the official release is very different than the beta that kypher released. Instead of the task manager being in Settings>Memory.. it's located in the top right corner of the screen where the "X" usually is.. instead of the "X" being there, its an arrow with a drop down menu. from there, you can close one or all of the applications that are running.. it will be something like this:
Activsync [X]
Internet E. [X]
Windows L. [X]
and so on and so on.. pretty cool.
ALSO, there is a bluetooth icon and wifi icon on the today screen, to where you can turn either/or on and off. Which is convenient.
Icons and colors, etc are all the same.. but there are little quirks here and there that make the official release different..

Isn't this just pBar (3rd party task manager) installed on it?

This is the HTCHomeplug today screen plugin.
Both thinks you can put on any existing WM6 (or WM5) rom.
thanks pof,

Ahh I see now.. where can we get HTCHomeplug? and Pbar?
@mun_rus: That's the task manager from SBSH iLauncher, which I use myself. Real good one...

That task bar was in one of the roms that we had here (maybe AKU 3.3). except there wasnt the Icon in that area. I found it by accident. I will try to remember which one it was. You had to hold the stylus in the area where the X normally would be with an open application and it would pop-up.

I seriously doubt it.
THAT "wing" is the Universal, and the link you posted from the Reg is from early 2005.
If I had to guess, i'd say that the T-mobile USA "wing" is going to be the VOX.

First.
there may be a new Task Manager in the final Wm6, and a new on Todayscreen Comm manager. among other things. whether it will be HTC developed (likely) or 3rd party software(less likely)
"Neither one may be initial available upon the Herald release but in subsequent rom updates. or for purchase from the Marketplace/Handango." it is unclear. as i understand it MSFT is going to be pushing an integrated software ecosystem a la itunes for phone software cept integrated into the device.
I know that microsoft is really going to push this marketplace thing this year, thats one of the points I got out of the Windows mobile folks @ the vista launch event. we should see a much more organised system for getting software than what we have seen in the past. Im really excited.
Second.
He saw the Herald.
Third.
This thing is going live sometime during/after april
Fourth
Tmobile May not end up with the vox unless the price point gets lower. (I have not heard anything about this device in awhile, it could still be coming) - it doesnt really make sense though since the price point on the dash is so low and the specs r almost the same.
fifth
the HTC wing is a 3g Phone and I have heard nothing about it since it was initial announced.
sixth
I have no idea why im numbering these.

g.baltazar,
Was it something like this one?
HTC Wing:
400MHz Samsung, Windows Mobile 6 Pro, 3G/HSDPA, 2.4"QVGA LCD, ROM 128MB, RAM 64MB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1.9-megapixel Camera, 50 x 100 x 19mm, 120g
Or perhaps he saw :gasps: a pre-release engineering version of the... *trembles* could it be??? The... *trembles again* KAISER?!?!?!?!?!?
hello everyone,
First a big thanks to K for his beautiful roms. I am currently using K's 1.30a (december) rom, and I love it.
But, my problem....... I was playing around in the registry yesterday, and recall setting something along the lines of "transparent dialer keys" (dumb idea #1). I noticed that it didnt do anything, so I left it (dumb idea #2).
Today, I had to restart my phone, and then went to make a call and guess what. The dialer keys are transparent!! It makes it look like hte phone is freezing, but I can still use the empty spaces to dial.
Does anyone know WHERE in the registry this key is? I can definitely set it back ( I believe it was a 1 or 0 setting), but only if I can remember where it is.
If anyone can help me, I would be eternally grateful. Otherwise I will have to go about upgrading to K's next newest rom (was going to eventually anyway), and/or finding a new dialer skin to install.
Heres to hoping someone knows!
any body ?
try this, but if doesn't work, plz hard reset ASAP. and don't forget to make a back up data first (just PIM, Message not the SYSTEM, afraid the last registry will follow).
Thank you sir!
Does it matter that I'm on a Hermes and thats a Kaiser dialer?
I will try this in about an hour.. thanks again!!

it works on hermes. it's made look alike (i think).

Well I installed it, and it asked me to reboot. Upon restarting, the phone skin was completely unchanged! I think I'm just going to suck it up and upgrade to one of the newer roms, again. Thanks for your help though.. I included a pic of what it looks like .. its pretty interesting.

nope! same old thing. I'm pretty sure the reg value I changed is what's causing it. I will never find it though (I'm surprised there isn't a big map of what sections of the registry do what .. even for windows!)
Not a big deal thought, New rom for me. (i will be documenting everything thsi time!)

Weird but cool . I think I need that registry if you find them to protect my billing from my lil' bro. (just kidding). Good luck to u.
Looks and works great on my HTC TYTN RU version. Thanks a lot. The only problem is the previous "green" short call list.
I've got the same problem!!!!
With a P4350 when I install any dialer (tried some of them) I've got the transparent keys.
Right now no solution to the problem
Edit: See Post #7 for the solution!

[REQ] Custom ROM without HTC volume control
Hello,
Does anyone have the time or inclination to make a ROM without the volume control? I only ask because I've so far found no way of disabling the program.
Basically I've discovered that the standard WM dialer is more responsive and more intuitive than the Diamond one while using about 8MB less memory. The problem is, the in-call volume won't work unless the HTCVolumeControl can be disabled or removed.
I'm going to follow up this request with a noob question - how easy is it to take an existing cooked ROM and remove applications?
Many thanks
Cooking a ROM without Volume control is easy. Just remove the DIAMOND Volume Control from your kitchen.
Many thanks for the reply! I don't currently have a kitchen.
If I were to find a chef who is willing to let others alter their work, how long would it take a novice to achieve?
Try VIC's ROM for example. Also take a look at: Cooking Guides for Ultimate Noobs.
Thanks again. I've had a look at VIC's ROM, looks good. I'll have a look at that guide when I have some spare time.
How much time would you guess it would take to do the job? I'm a complete noob but fairly quick learner.
Isn't there an option to disable this in one of the tweak progs, either schaps adv. config or diamond tweak, I'm sure one of the two can do this.

This option does exist in Diamond Tweak but it doesn't work.
I've searched the forum and found a manual method that involves stopping a service called HTCVolume, however that service doesn't appear to exist in the latest ROMs. HTC must have changed something which would also explain Diamond Tweak not working.

For me, the 8MB free came when using the standard WM dialer rather than the HTC one. It's not as pretty but it does match my altered windows colour scheme. I'd rather have a phone that works properly than one that just looks nice - which is why I'm not using TouchFlo 3D either.
I would guess I'm getting an additional 1 or 2 MB with the volume control also gone.

Seems the DLL?? messes up the font of the USB PopUp and SIP Selection screen Will try to cook a ROM without the VolumeControl to see if you can disable it without causing trouble to the fonts on the device..
I'm already using a ROM without the HTC Volume Control, Panosha Simple 1.1, so I don't need this cab anymore. It was invaluable before I switched ROMs!
I can confirm that the SIP selection text is already broken, without installing this cab. HTC must have relied on their dialer dll for the fonts on these other menu screens.

Not had that problem, except for the one time mentioned above which was caused by SKTools.
It's a very plain ROM - no Manila, Opera or even MMS! However, it suited my needs and I was able to track down all of the cabs I needed eventually.
I can't find anyone that has posted one yet, but I have made one for all you that have one and have the screwed alt key! The registry file is attached! It is not a hack at all. Just a registry export that worked!
Enjoy
edit//Cab added to post.
edit2//Also, just an FYI for everyone, the TMO keyboard has the GBP and Euro symbols on the hardware keyboard, it just wasn't put on the key itself. It is the same keys as the HTC version for them. alt+e = euro and alt+r = pound symbol.
edit3//Make sure HLKM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles shows et9.rhodium.wwe.txt. Otherwise, the layout will still be messed up.
I think this should get stickied for a few weeks
If necessary. I am sure it will stay alive for a bit since a lot of us have the TMO version.
To be fair though, you get some of the credit. Your suggestion in that other thread is what made me do it. It took me about 1 hour of poking around.
Can any onecab this up for easy install? That would rock, changing values to match though reg editor does not work!
Just use Task Manager to import it. It worked for me.

so what exactly is the problem with the tmobile us alt key anyway? i just got my tp2 yesterday and haven't really noticed a problem with it?
This is only an issue for people with cooked roms.

Well my Rom is stock but I'll be sure to remember this if I flash a new one.
This fixes the alt key, for sure. But what about the shortcuts on the arrows? Those are still incorrect, for me. Is this a separate problem? I assumed it should be related, due to the fact that the shortcuts on the unlocked devices are different than the T-Mobile shortcuts.

Thanks Dave!
what exactly does this fix ?
my ctrl button doesn't function at all but I thought it's due to the PDAC hebrew support I have.
also FN+SYM doesn't ddo anything.
my TP2 is unbranded.

As noted by the thread title, this ONLY applies to the TMO (T-Mobile) US branded TP2. It applies to NO other branded or unbranded TP2 devices. It fixes the keyboard layout changes that were implemented on the TMOUS TP2. The Alt, ctrl, and a few other keys had some changes.
To fix your keyboard, flash back to the original rom, export the same reg key that is in the first post, and then apply that to the newly flashed rom.
Will post feedback as I play with the handset. Wasnt expecting it quite so early....
Congrats leoni, I would love if you could say about:
- The responsiveness of the screen
- How easy to type using its virtual keyboard (and compare to the iPhone if you have used before)
- And the biggest question, is the voice-to-text included in the virtual keyboard? Probably you may test it on several differents input type. Or it might need to be installed from the HTC apps/widget list?
Thanks!
I still own an iPhone, owned an iPhone 3g, currently (or until today) running a HD2 so I've got a good idea of what I like and dislike about each ;-)

Nice .. i see that the device is the "Brownish" colour after all
if you could verify wither there is a speech-to-text feature or not, .. you have to change the keyboard to Android keyboard though (if it exists). because the HTC keyboard does not have it by default ..
The Android keyboard is either removed or hidden as the Windows one is on the HD2. Turning off Sense UI doesn't seem possible by clearing data and defaults through the applications menu....Sense just restarts automatically.
I'm pretty sure there is no Speech to Text. I've searched hard to no avail, plus when I installed SMS Popup and pressed the S2T button it said it was not available for this device.

In settings there is an option for text to speech you have install voice data which takes you to marketplace.
