I've been reading and I see there's uspl for devices, for upgrading a rom without the need to upgrade to hard spl,
Is there uspl for htc diamond? Is it more dangerous for use?
Im asking because everything I found is related to hspl only.
I need to keep the option for restoring everything back for warrenty reasons, but I see its not possible to flash back to stock spl from internal storage, so I'm afraid one day maybe my usb slot will stop function and I wont be able to flash it using AS.
It may sound dumb, I know, but I want to make it carefully.
Is there any risks involved in using uspl instead of hspl?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I did found SSPL, though only for very old versions of radio and rom, Mine is 1.93 and radio 1.00.25.05

Hahahaha, hi eranyanay, your worries have come true for me.. Couple of days ago, my Diamond stooped recognizing the usb port, and all the syncing and transferring have been done through bluetooth..
Now i can not revert to factory SPL, thou i have flashed a stock rom and put some of the original parts (bootloader, splashes and OS) back, just to try and make the warranty work (if they accept it )... we will see in the end
And, btw, i have been flashing and using HTCs for 3 years intensively now...

Hi guys. I have installed loads of ROMs onto my trusty hermes yet today, when trying to flash DuttyThroys Ultra Ultra Lite rom this happened: i downloaded ROM and installed it, it seemed to install fine, got to 100% and then came up with error message stating that Image File was corrupt. Now my hermes is stuck on the multicoloured bootloader screen?!?!?!? I have SPL 2.10. Hard SPL V7 HERM 100 IPL 1.04 (Dont know which of these is relevant to anythin?) .I have read the WIKI on repairing bricks but for my problem it says to reflash any nbh without radio. How is this possible if i cant get my pc to connect to my hermes???
Tried the method of turning off usb connection in active sync, removing battery, reconnecting to usb and running mitty (command SET 14 0) but nothing happens. Mitty says CMD error and active sync doesnt reopen the connection like the guide says! Man i hate this cuz i have now become one of those annoying noobs who has bricked their phone and hassles everyone for help!!!!
Have also tried to flash from sd card but nothing happens, flicks to white screen with LOADING... on it for 2 secons then flicks back to that wonderful multicoloured screen of joy!
Any help will be appreciated guys, cant live without my hermes!!!
Welcome to the fuc... nightmare world of the brick,i'mma in your same situation, now my Tytn is a piece of white stone, and it seems there's no reason to bring it back to live!
I can't stay without my Tytn i do a lot of things with it,Skype,SIP calls,Mail,Messenger,Memo,Internet......i'm in totally despair!!!
you should be able to just reflash a known good rom.

Brilliant story! both compelling and rich. But i have already explained that my pc doesnt recognise my hermes so how do you RECOMMEND i flash??
IT could be interesting to make the minimal effort to go and read the wiki.
anyway:

With the microsd card...
right, its looking good. managed to begin flashing (bar has stopped for ages but having read this is normal im not so scared!) using the SD method. Where my device wasnt superCID i had to use the matching ROM (Orange) to my CID (which incidently i dont know, just downloaded both Orange ROMs).
While im waiting ill try and help you TETSUO! (Im a noob so probably cant!)
Is your device SuperCID??? tell me as much as you can about your device SPL etc
dude, if u read my post u would have seen that i have tried SD method once (sing Black 3.5 not ORANGE ROM), im not crying and im grateful for any help but when i get advice such as 'flash a rom' im gonna be pissed!
And i have read ALL the page on unbricking!!!
It worked!!
One more question, as i have installed a stock Orange ROM do i now need to reinstall HardSPL v7??
Are you on a Win XP or a Vista PC?
XP dude, sorry should have said! and thanks
i went into bootloader, still says 2.10 olipro but when i try to update to new ROM (Black X RC)and pick autodetect it says it says unknown version, use SSPL. it never used to say this so i assume i need to install HardSPL 7 again???
with the tri colour sceen, when you plug the usb cable in does it go from serial to USB ?
what OS have you got ?
just my 2 cents hope it helps.
dude, i have got past that problem and have managed to install an Orange ROM onto it. i only need to know ow whether to install HardSPL v7 again!
sorry slooooooooooooooooow typing
good question hope there an answer,

just saw your post if ur device is hardspl you just need to supercid your device, If your spl is still showing hardspl and its coming as a error that normally happens to me as well just manually click spl 2.10 and tick (is it hardspl?}
To recap, i have now managed to flash a stock Orange ROM from SD card ( i think the reason it didnt work first time with SD is because device isnt SuperCID and i was trying to flash Black RC, soon as i used Orange ROM (my device is M3100) it worked. I am now back to a fully operational device. I wish to go back to Black but when i AutoDetect what bootloader i have it recommeds SSPL method. Before all my problems it would always automatically pick 2.10?? Does this mean i need to install HardSPL v7 again??
it was HardSPL v7 before all these problems, but im a noob so dont know if it still is?? would installing Orange ROM from SD Card remove HardSPL?? Bootloader still shows SPL as 2.10 oli

If you only flash the orange os.nb only then your hardspl wouldnt have changed so its safe to flash your device just manually choose.
If you want to flash hardspl again then do it on a precaution method
Mark,
First of all well done for getting yourself out of a hole. It seems quite difficult to ask for help these days without being shot to pieces even when you have first tried to help yourself by doing all the right things, which is more than can be said for some who come on here asking for help. So well done again.
Re your question, I would reflash Hard SPL anyway to be sure; however before you do that go to the Mr Vanx's guide on hard SPL (forgot the link but type in www.mrvanx.org and you should be taken there) and follow his instructions.
Good luck.

Hallo,
sorry für this question but is it possible to have a Soft-SPL instaed of a Hard-SPL to jump the SPL protection like the HTC-Prohet.
with my Old HTC Prophet i used always the Soft-SPL (copy some files in the Phone, run them and the phone boot in bootloader mode, then flash any ROM) so i do not need to worry about warranty or else! it is more secure than a Hard-SPL
is that not possible with our precious diamond?
Thanx in advance
WBR
This might not be a satisfying answer, but you can revert to a stock SPL at any time, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2324837#post2324837

yes i know that, but i do not want to swim in the Hard-SPL stories (change from 1.xx to 1.40, flashing, ROMS compatiblilty (some has problems with Hard-SPL after ROM flashing), reflash to stock SPL.. and so on..)
any way thanx for ur answer
WBR
the issue is not necessarily jumping the SPL protection.. Hard-spl remains on your phone and protects you in case of a bad flash.. it is removable and doesn't really make any sense to not use it unless you're desperate for a really expensive paperweight..
To answer your question, yes there is a kind of SoftSPL.
It was used to flash the HardSPL and is loaded by the batch, you executed.
It uses JumpSPL by pof and a modified mfg bootloader in .nb format.
Theoreticaly, you can take JumpSPL, the Bl.nb and a shortcut with the right arguments to the device storage and execute it.
Or use the SSPL from Developer HardSPL, it's one file.
And, no. I'll not explain more, because I won't write a How To for device bricking.
But it is highly recommended to use a HardSPL.
There is always a way back and in case of a crash, it may protect you from a nice brick.
It is safer to use HARD SPL.
DO NOT USE SOFT/JUMP SPL TO FLASH ROMS OR RADIOS.
THERE ARE CHANCES TO BRICK YOUR DeVICE USING JUMP/SOFT SPL.

Re-flashing SPL is the most dangerous part.
To use SSPL you don't have to re-flash SPL, so it IS safer.
If OS doesn't boot though, SSPL can't be used. HSPL is your best bet if you want to flash just anything you come across without damaging SPL.

Yeah but imagine your running sspl to install a rom, and your flash did not go well eventhough it completed the 100%. Now you are stuck on bootloader. You can´t do anything coz you did not have hard spl on. I think you can still recover using mtty.exe but that is a long thing. Do not take the risk of losing your phone forever by bricking it.
Hi everybody, first of all I'm sorry if I ask something already discussed..
Is it possible to restore original IPL / SPL without USB port using bluetooth (to copy diamimg file) and rebooting from the phone?
I have a Diamond with Olinex 1.93 SPL installed and my USB port is not working. I can't charge batteries and I can't connect with PCs; only the headphone is working.. I need to re-apply original conditions to return my phone on warranty..
I restored the original Italian ROM 2.03 (from HTC site) putting it into the 4gb memory via bluetooth and installing it from internal memory; then I'm trying to restore the SPL putting the original HTC SPL nbh file into the memory installing it booting from internal memory. But after the process is completed and I reset, I have always the 1.93 by Olinex version on the display.
I tried with a lot of signed and unsigned versions of SPL, the process is always completed but anything change.
Could you help me and tell me what to do? Thank you for your help...
As far as I know it isn't possible, yet. But as I also wanted to change SPL the same way we flash ROM and Radio images from our Internal Storage, I PM'ed cmonex about it a few months ago.
She thinks it's possible to change SPL without USB. In the end I didn't need it anymore and I couldn't test it for her. So we left it at that. But if you contact her, maybe she can help you?
Ok I asked to cmonex.. In the last days I continue flashing images from the 4gb memory but anything changes...

I think, you have to use Jump=SPL if your spl after flashing isn't changed, use button search, and type JUMP SPL
So as you can figure out from the thread title I have a problem flashing my htc diamond.
I have installed a HardSPL version 1.30 OliNex, I can confirm that becouse on the three color screen there is a text saying "1.30 OliNex".
I still have the original ROM that comes with the phone when I bought it, so this meant to be my first flashing.
I want to flash the phone with this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593678 it is a WM 6.5 based ROM.
Because in the ROM package there wasn't a ROMUpdateUtility.exe I used it from other ROM package.
Connected via ActiveSync and followed the wizard. The phone reset and there came a gray screen with a progress bar. Now both progress bars on the phone and on the PC screen remain 0% and after a wile RUU finished with 262 ERROR Connection error, see the attached picture.
After that I tried to flash it from Internal Storage. A followed the steps according the procedure, and after the three colored screen it came the gray screen with "Loading..." message. I waited for almost 30 minutes and nothing happened.
What seems to be the problem?
I assumed about firewall disabling the connection. But I turned off the firewall and again the same story.
Then somewhere I found that there is incompatibility with the RUU and HardSPL version, but tried to flash with the same RUU that I used when I was installing HardSPL.
Then I tough that the problem is about flashing unsigned ROM on a signed HSPL, but it is not that the ROM is signed.
I am afraid to use MTTY so I don't brick my phone, because this is my first time flashing a Diamond.
I'm confused What seems to be the problem?
Any help can be welcomed.
Could this be indication of a hardware problem? When waiting for the "Loading..." message disappear the back cover warms a little.
Thanks.
1. Did you use the RUU from my thread?
2. NEVER USE AN H-SPL RUU TO FLASH ANYTHING OTHER THAN H-SPL!
3. is this a CMDA phone. IE, what network are you on?
Well no I didn't use the RUU from your thread, I've used a RUU from other ROM package.
This is not a CDMA phone I'm on T-Mobile Macedonia network. And the phone looks like this
On other Macedonian forum they told me it is a hardware problem. Can this be true?
So what do you think about my problem?

EDIT: I did tried the RUU you recommended in your thread but it's the same.
I think it is in the PDA.
Configure active sync, and uncheck "allow usb connection" and try again.
For updating from internal storage you must have to copy the rom to the root of internal storage with a special name, ""diamimg.nbh"
Hmmm..
What he said... and...
Should have used one of the earlier SPLs. you only need to use the latest one if you are having problems with the older versions. I have the same diamond and used an early SPL.
Upgrade the radio rom first and go with a rom that's version 6.1 not 6.5 as most 6.5 roms now pack the Sense application.. (IMO Non-Sense, Senseless (Not enought ram or responsiveness))
Old roms here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470757
Give olinex some cash for his Diamond Unlocker as this is the surefire way to fix it.

The connection between PC and PDA is made, because as I said there is a progress bar on the phone screen too.

As I understand you, you are saying to install later version of Hard SPL right?
So to install a new version of Hard SPL I just need to do the same procedure as the first time, or I have to uninstall the previous one?
And please help me which version of Hard SPL is safest to install? I'm afraid of the developer versions or maybe they aren't so scary
Are you a 100% positive it is the HardSPL?

Presuming from your post, you are using a signed Olinex SPL, i doubt that the rom has been signed be OliNex, the only difference with Dev is you can flash any Rom, flash the Dev one from my thread, nothing to be afraid of
Good Luck
Badwolve1
What are the steps of installing new SPL?
Do I just need to do the same procedure as the first time, or I have to uninstall the previous one(somehow)?
UPDATE: I did it, I successfully flashed my Diamond PDA! It seams that the problem was in the SPL I installed 1.40 OliNex Unsigned and it flashed like a charm. Thanks guys for the help. Now this thread can be closed, or do I have to close it myself.
Great!
Glad it all worked out
Hi guys!I've only been with you for the last month or so and still don't do everything perfect! However,I've been using HSPL 1.40(all signed by OliNex) since my first custom rom installation and have tried to install 1.93 but to no avail.I install it and everything goes ok during the installation, but when I check what HSPL is installed on my device it shows version 1.40...What's wrong?
And another (stupid) question...What happens when you brick a device?I've been reading about people bricking their phones but I have absolutely no idea what it means! What is bricking? And is there any way to fix it?
Hi,
If you really want to upgrade your SPL (not needed unless you have problems, like with screen), you need to first get Jump-SPL. Find it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334667
Then execute the .bat file, follow instructions, and press yes on your phone when you get prompted. Your device will go black. Now, just go find Hard-SPL 1.93, and start that, and install it like normal. When you boot you should have 1.93.
Also, bricking is basically when your device becomes a "brick" or a nice piece of furniture (unusable). There are different things people mean by bricking. Sometimes it's just when you can only get into bootloader. This can be fixed by installing stock ROM, or doing some research. Other type of bricking is when you can't even turn it on. This can be fixed using JTAG, but you need equipment and intense knowledge.
Otherwise people just send it into HTC for repairs. Just make sure if you do that you have the original stock ROM installed (you need JumpSPL to install this).
So careful with what you flash or you could brick your phone!
~codeslicer
Thanks for your reply!Well,as it turned out you didn't need to tell me about bricking...I bricked my device just about 2 hours ago, just after my post! I managed however to "revive" it...Thank god!
Anyway,thank you very much again!
