Hallo,
sorry für this question but is it possible to have a Soft-SPL instaed of a Hard-SPL to jump the SPL protection like the HTC-Prohet.
with my Old HTC Prophet i used always the Soft-SPL (copy some files in the Phone, run them and the phone boot in bootloader mode, then flash any ROM) so i do not need to worry about warranty or else! it is more secure than a Hard-SPL
is that not possible with our precious diamond?
Thanx in advance
WBR
This might not be a satisfying answer, but you can revert to a stock SPL at any time, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2324837#post2324837

yes i know that, but i do not want to swim in the Hard-SPL stories (change from 1.xx to 1.40, flashing, ROMS compatiblilty (some has problems with Hard-SPL after ROM flashing), reflash to stock SPL.. and so on..)
any way thanx for ur answer
WBR
the issue is not necessarily jumping the SPL protection.. Hard-spl remains on your phone and protects you in case of a bad flash.. it is removable and doesn't really make any sense to not use it unless you're desperate for a really expensive paperweight..
To answer your question, yes there is a kind of SoftSPL.
It was used to flash the HardSPL and is loaded by the batch, you executed.
It uses JumpSPL by pof and a modified mfg bootloader in .nb format.
Theoreticaly, you can take JumpSPL, the Bl.nb and a shortcut with the right arguments to the device storage and execute it.
Or use the SSPL from Developer HardSPL, it's one file.
And, no. I'll not explain more, because I won't write a How To for device bricking.
But it is highly recommended to use a HardSPL.
There is always a way back and in case of a crash, it may protect you from a nice brick.
It is safer to use HARD SPL.
DO NOT USE SOFT/JUMP SPL TO FLASH ROMS OR RADIOS.
THERE ARE CHANCES TO BRICK YOUR DeVICE USING JUMP/SOFT SPL.

Re-flashing SPL is the most dangerous part.
To use SSPL you don't have to re-flash SPL, so it IS safer.
If OS doesn't boot though, SSPL can't be used. HSPL is your best bet if you want to flash just anything you come across without damaging SPL.

Yeah but imagine your running sspl to install a rom, and your flash did not go well eventhough it completed the 100%. Now you are stuck on bootloader. You can´t do anything coz you did not have hard spl on. I think you can still recover using mtty.exe but that is a long thing. Do not take the risk of losing your phone forever by bricking it.

I need to downgrade my rom for warrany purposes (the OK key is stuck) But when I load up my Original ROM when my unt goes to the bootloader tingy, it disconnects from activesync and just well.. does noting.
Please help, anyone?
Thnaks
Execute SSPL and then run the RUU.
EDIT: Note that Hard-SPL (which I assume you have installed) will not protect you from failure because the original ROM has its own bootloader that it will put on your device, which is a good thing in terms of warranty, but a bad thing in terms of a power outage.
Original rom
Did you manage to do it and revert back/
look at this guide http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/
Yep, the guide will help you through doing this. It takes a slightly more time consuming approach but you are almost guaranteed not to permenantly brick your device doing it this way, as the last thing to be flashed is the radio, then the SPL.
Ive read the guide when i wanted to upgrade and its very helpful. Did'nt notice there was a segment on downgrading which i believe will be helpful as well. Thanks for your patience and answering, you guys are kind, for pointing me in that direction.
HArd SPL? Uh, no I didn't install that.. should I?

@ Deadman
I would suggest you start reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
Then go to the wiki:

and do a lot more reading before you really do something even more seriously seriously nasty to your phone.
You should have installed Olipro's Hard-SPL before any kind of rom upgrades.
There is also a complete guide on the wiki to unbricking your phone.
Got it, thanks.
Thanks

Hello,
So much time in the forum and i still didn't get this part properly:
I have used USPL for the Artemis, and i have been flashing some ROMs with no issues at all. My problem is that i want to try out an official WM6 ROM:
HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R
And i know this will overwrite my SPL once again. I currently have SPL 1.11.0000 (so it is CID unlocked).
Can i flash this ROM safely without bricking the Artemis? (silly question but better safe than sorry). I know that if my SPL gets overwritten i have to USPL once again in order to flash cooked roms, this part i got
Basically what i need to know is if USPL will make the Artemis flashable with ANY type of ROM (cooked, official, etc).
Thanks for any help.
yep, uspl will allow officail/cooked roms
tried flashing official rom with out uspl and my ppc was showing SPL 1.11.0000 from before, it wouldn't flash even though it was the official rom.
flashed with uspl and all was fine
Okay thank you
hey dude - did you read the uspl manual by POF
the uspl tool for artemis temporarily add files to the phone RAM so that it will allow any rom to be flashed! once the phone is immediatly soft-reseted after running the uspl utility the uspl files will be deleted (from the ram i think) and it will be protected again (locked again) the uspl tool by pof does not change the ispl it just create kind of a backdoor way! (my analogy)
from experience a hard reset is alway beneficial and necessary from my point of view after flashing roms
also soft rest is useful before running the uspl - u need ram
best wishes and happy flashing - we are flashing addicts here thanks to pof
jahrami:- not true, start_uspl thru cewrite.exe adds some files to allow Ruu to flash USPL (SPL:1.11.0000) after flashing spl is finished(correctly) U can do as many HARD/Soft resets as u want to. U can flash whatever U want as many times U want to. But u need to take care if its not SHIP rom (they flash SPL as well) While u'll use only cooked roms, u can sleep in peace. Best way is to check SPL version always before flashing.

Hi phsnake
When you use uspl does it change the spl version??
read the notes 2-6 in the uspl manual
2 says the uspl does not change imei we all agree
3 says says the uspl it does not correct cid (country id) area yeah
4 says the uspl TEMPORARILY unclock the device
5 says the uspl AFTER FLASHING the phone is set back to factory settings
dear phsnake ppl were running uspl, soft reseting their phones, then try to flash a rom (they reported that flashing did not work) so it seems that files extracted by uspl go into a temporarily memory would you say its the rom or ram?
i just offered my understanding to what i've read i am not as intelligent as pof - i am just an ordinary member i am even not senior
best wishes
The USPL is permanent unless it is overwritten by another FULL flash (including SPL). If you just flash the OS, GSM, EXT_ROM or SPLASH parts, it'll be there forever.
I tried flashing an official ROM after USPL and it still said the device didn't have the characteristics for the ROM or whatever, so i extracted OS.nb, flashed it, and it worked like a charm.
For as long as you have SPL 1.11.0000 (forever if you don't overwrite it) you can flash away as you like.
I know you guys most be tired of this but im still a lil confused about all this since i have searched around and i have still to know how to return the stock SPL...now i know theres alot of post that show how but what i need to do is find out one which i dont have to use my phone:
What i mean is....i dont have to copy SSManual.bat to my fun and run it from my phone...because i have to return my phone to HTC for warranty reasons but i cannot get passed the align screen configuration at boot since my touch is messed up (p.s. i can still flash and active sync)...
what i need to know is a way to return to the stock SPL without using the phone (except for Active Sync)...
p.s. if i have the ASIA WWE HK ROM on the SPL would be 1.34 or 1.93?
thank you!!
[SOLVED]
Basically, thanks to the ppl in this thread for helping.....since i couldnt get passed my align screen cause of hardware problems with my screen i couldnt access the sspl-manual in order to revert to stock spl so what i did is i flash my phone with Dia duit 1.4 which has no welcome screen or align screen so i could go thru to the phone then performed the sspl manual and reverted to the 1.93 spl (my version)and afterwards i flash my phone with the Asia HTC wwe orginal romhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410720 ......i know ure supposed to first flash orginal rom and then the stock spl but i took a chance and it worked...THANKS u guys keep up the good work and now its up to HTC to fix my hardware....Hoping its on warranty
By the way right now im on Olinex 1.40
thank you again!!!
can't you install the hardspl through bootloader mode?
Unfortunately no, everytime i do either i get an error [202] or it goes straight to 100% but then when i check with the vol - and reset button it shows olinex 1.40
did anybody ever try to send it without reverting back to the stock spl ?

Try to install a rom which don't have to align the screen. then you copy the file you wants from the phone.
Good luck
does anybody know of a rom like that that exists cause that sounds like a pretty good idea!!
hi
i had your problem and has olinex 1.40 anld like to restore hard spl
first you should install original rom on your device
then install original hard spl ( i try it )
download rom 1.93 WWE from the htc site (it should be 1.93)
then hard spl with it (copy sspl manual om your device run it then restart you device run it again then connect it to pc and run ruu
hard spl : http://rapidshare.com/files/215819452/1.93_Original.rar.html

i think the new rom of suiller (diadiut 1.4) would do. you don't need to screen align after flashing.

I've been reading and I see there's uspl for devices, for upgrading a rom without the need to upgrade to hard spl,
Is there uspl for htc diamond? Is it more dangerous for use?
Im asking because everything I found is related to hspl only.
I need to keep the option for restoring everything back for warrenty reasons, but I see its not possible to flash back to stock spl from internal storage, so I'm afraid one day maybe my usb slot will stop function and I wont be able to flash it using AS.
It may sound dumb, I know, but I want to make it carefully.
Is there any risks involved in using uspl instead of hspl?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I did found SSPL, though only for very old versions of radio and rom, Mine is 1.93 and radio 1.00.25.05

Hahahaha, hi eranyanay, your worries have come true for me.. Couple of days ago, my Diamond stooped recognizing the usb port, and all the syncing and transferring have been done through bluetooth..
Now i can not revert to factory SPL, thou i have flashed a stock rom and put some of the original parts (bootloader, splashes and OS) back, just to try and make the warranty work (if they accept it )... we will see in the end
And, btw, i have been flashing and using HTCs for 3 years intensively now...

Oh I know!
You're one of the reasons for my question.
Its just that I couldnt find any attention to sspl around here, only to hspl.
Due to a hardware problem in my Diamond I needed to restore it to manufacturer default. I didn't find a guide to this and since I've done the research anyway I thought I'd put together this little tutorial as the information was somewhat scattered around the forum. I hope this guide will be of use for the community.
My phone was originally branded and sim-locked by 3. After I was through with it, it was SIM-unlocked, security unlocked and had HSPL, custom ROM and a radio ported from another device. The steps below is what I did to restore it to stock. All steps might not be neccessary for you. This procedure might also work for other devices than the Diamond, but of course you need other versions of SPL, ROM etc.
1. Backup everything on your phone to your computer - use activesync, PIMbackup etc and make a copy of your Internal Storage.
2. Make a hard reset (hold vol down + enter and soft reset) and chose to format moviNAND. This step is only neccessary if you want to wipe your Internal Storage before you send the device in for repair, but I recommend it.
3. Go to www.htc.com and download the latest stock ROM (includes stock radio and SPL). You find it under Support and you enter your s/n to get the correct stock ROM for your device, complete with branding for your operator. You can also find stock ROMS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471699
4. Flash the stock ROM. Now you have stock ROM and Radio on your device. Stock SPL will not be installed until you've replaced HSPL with an older stock SPL and flashed ROM again.
5. Get RUU-SSPL and stock SPL from HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324829&postcount=39. I used the stock 1.93 SPL. Some instructions and info about restoring stock SPL is in the linked post by cmonex and due credit goes to her. I will repeat some of that info to keep this guide step-by-step. EDIT: Stock SPL 2.03 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3359191&postcount=390
6. Put the .nbh file from the SPL you downloaded into the same folder as the extracted contents of RUU-SSPL-withoutNBH.zip and run the RUU. This flashes an old stock SPL.
7. Flash your stock ROM from step 3 again. This step is neccessary to get the correct stock SPL on your device, eg. the one that corresponds with the stock ROM you've downloaded in step 3. It was not installed in step 4, because then you still had HSPL. In step 6 you've installed a stock SPL and now the correct stock SPL will flash along with the stock ROM. After this step I got SPL 2.03 on my Diamond.
8. Remove the Security Unlock from your device using the instructions and Security Relocker by Olinex from this post by cmonex: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3299516&postcount=492
Now, my Diamond is still SIM-unlocked. I have not managed to find any info about how to restore the SIM-lock, but it is hopefully not neccessary for warranty. As far as I can tell, the unlock doesn't show anywhere, but of course all they need to do is to try a SIM-card from another operator...
If anyone has info about how to restore SIM-lock, then I'll update this guide with that info.

However i have a problem. the touch screen of my device is not working.. so i can't get pass the allign screen part .. and for somereason the ruu won't connect to phone when it is at tha part so i can't install the spl.. the only way i can do that i through bootloader and it flashes fine but when i then look in bootloader to see the spl it still shows 1.40 olinex..

You're right, I tried it too. Flashing SPL through bootloader doesn't work.
You can try using JumpSPL instead, I've attached it in this post. I don't think JumpSPL will require any screen prompts on your Diamond. You can read instructions.txt in the zip, but it's just really the .bat file so you get an idea of what it's doing. Run the .bat, press enter at the prompts and run the RUU for your stock SPL instead of HSPL when asked. At your own risk, I have not tried this myself.

I have just tried it and it gets stuck where it should run the JumpSPL.exe on the device. After a few minutes it comes with an error:
"ERROR: CreateProcess failed with Errorcode = 30123
- UNKNOWNERROR: 0x000075ab"
This is not good I just think its wierd that because of a broken screen it is impossible for me to get the stock spl flashed back on.

Sorry to hear it and I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. After all, my little tutorial is primarily aimed at those whose Diamonds have working screens...
On another note, my Diamond came back from warranty repair and the repair shop had not noticed anything that would void my warranty. In the meantime I got myself a Topaz and now I've sold my Diamond, but I'll be checking this thread from time to time.
Hey thanks bro..!! I need to give mine for reparing..
I have a hardware problem with the reset button.. Do you think I should flash my diamond back to stock? (I don't think they'll check the software right?)

I would restore it to stock anyway. Some workshops actually look for excuses/reasons why the warranty won't apply so I say you'd definitly be taking a risk if you didn't.

If you manage to install ANY stock SPL and then flash the correct ROM for your country and operator then you automatically get the correct SPL too, since stock ROMs include SPL. If you go to htc.com and type in your s/n then you automatically get the latest ROM for your device and operator.
