Hi folks,
Can anyone help me?
I was using BSB 6.5L WM6.5 on my Diamond and i had some problems with that.
Mainly, my Diamond was "hard reseting" the manufactures settings everytime i turned it on.
So i decided to downgrade it to WM 6.1
At this point i started to have serious issues.
I installed Rom 1.93xx and just after the uptade, my Diamond froze in the first black screen (Touch Diamond and radio/Rom version).
Even if i do the hard reset, it freezes again in the boot screen.?
So, how could i go back to the Rom i was using before or install another one?
My Diamond is useless now... Hope someone can help me.
Thanks
should've used search, this is also a wrong forum for this topic.
with that said, power off the phone, press and hold power, volume down and reset until you see the tri-colour bootloader screen, connect the phone to your PC, you should be able to flash at this point.
do report back.

What technote said is incorrect, doing that will just cause it to try and read from the Internal Storage, what you want to do is what I did when I had the exact same problem;
With the phone on the frozen screen - make sure the USB cable is DISconnected, open ActiveSync/WMDC on the PC and in connection settings, disable USB connections. Now press the red reset button on the phone and as the phone is turning on (before it vibrates - 'touch Diamond' splash), you need to press Volume Down once, don't hold it. Just press it once. Now plug the USB cable in when the tri color screen appears, and Serial should be written near the bottom. Renable USB connections in ActiveSync/WMDC and then flash a ROM. All should work.
Thanks...
It worked flawlessly....

When i do this, it still keeps going to the splash. I reset, press vol down, and it continues to go to the splash. If i do it the other mentioned way, power, reset, vol down i get to the tri colour screen.
how to enter in bootloader = press volume down and reset simultaneous !

While upgrading my XDAII to the new O2 rom, I got a connection error which tiole me to disconnect the xda and do a soft reset.
I did this and it's now stuck on the O2 boot screen and wont budge, wont connect via active sync and does nothing else when I hard reset.
Have I f**ked it up ??
Please help,
Tommy
Don't panic
Just reset the device, place it back in the cradle and re-run the upgrade. It doesn't require Activesync as the upgrade process looks after its own connection.
Make sure the cradle is connected directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub. Also make sure the power supply is connected to the cradle.
Thanks, but that doesnt seem to help, the program just says that their is no connection.
Do you have another PC you can use? or try using a different USB port.
tried it on both and nothing, It looks like the XDAII can't start up properly and that's why it can't establish a connection. As I said it's stuck on the O2 boot screen (the one with the bubbles on it) with the version nos at the bottom and does nowt else.
I feel sick...

OK. I misunderstood. I thought you were in the bootloader screen. So you need to see if you can put the device into bootloader mode. Press the jog button (bottom middle front of device) and power button at same time whilst pressing the reset button. This (hopefully) will put you in the bootloader - a dark screen with Serial 1.xx displayed. Then when device is put in cradle it should change to USB 1.xx. Then you can re-run the upgrade.
Whayhey
DCS you are indeed the man!
Thanks for your help.
Tommy
I just received my O2 Exec, and upgraded the ROM to the latest off the O2 Site. When prompted, I disconnected the device from the computer and did the reset. (Two soft keys plus reset button). The screen comes up and prompts to press "0" to load factory defaults. I press "0", and a message briefly appears...."clearing". Screen then goes blank.
I then tried to put it into bootloader mode, with no luck.
What can I do?
check
check to see if there is a faint "serial" written on the to of the blank screen (very faint can barely see it)
if so .... you are in bootloader mode

I checked a few times in very good light. The screen is blank.
Is there nobody that can help me? Please my new phone is dead. What can I try?
What I have already tried:
1. Will not go into boodloader mode.
2. When I do a hard reset, the screen show up, but does not continue to splash screen.
If it is going into a hard reset it should go into bootloader mode no problems. Hold down the power, backlight key and the reset button for about 3 seconds. Sometimes it doesn't enter bootloader with just a quick press.
When you have done this try re-flashing with a freshly downloaded copy off the FTP or somewhere else.
I have flashed many Custome ROM's before. I have HardSPL installed on my phone.
I tried flashing to a ROM (I forget which one now, I think Cloudfa or something) and it stopped at about 15%. The Update utility stopped as well.
I cannot connect to bootloader at all. I tried holding down on Volume down/Reset to enter bootloader, but the thing is that it's already in bootloader with the message "Upgrade ROM code error, Please try again"
ActiveSync doesn't see my phone either. In fact all it does is just sit on the bootloader screen with that error...
Please Help... Thanks You...
A normal soft reset still brings you back to Bootloader?
What happens when you plug in your device? Does it not change from serial to USB at the bottom?

Sorry. Yes it does show USB when plugged in, but won't respond to anything that I have tried software wise. It does not switch from this bootloader/error screen at any point. Even after I pull my battery and turn it back on...
I have yet to come across a thread which has this exact problem...

Have you tried flashing a different ROM while in bootloader?
^^ Yes. It give me an error on my computer...
I would like to try the internal flashing method but I don't seem to have a way of getting at my Storage Card.
I found this thread with a similar problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480022
I WAS just able to get off of that screen I was talking about, but the best I get is to the Touch Diamond Screen that lists my ROM and such. So no real progress.
I have a feeling that I would resolve my problem if I could Flash from the Interanl Storage...
Have you tried hard resetting the device?
Pull out stylus and Holding....1) Vol. Down 2) Center Round button 3) then press red button aka soft reset with stylus
Nothing...

i preformed task 29 on my tilt 2 and i now have an ATT screen and wont go any further. when i try to stat it it only goes as far as the first screen and no further. i tried resting it to no avail. i can not establish connection with pc. i have vista for pc. can somebody help please?
Yes. now u preformed that, you want to plug in your USB. Push reset and the lower volum button at the same time. You will go into boot loader mode. It should say USB on the bottom once u have made a connection after connecting your USB to the computer. At that point flash your Radio, after flashing your radio, flash your rom. All like you normaly would ..
PS. make sure Sim and MScard is out of phone before preforming Flashing Radio, then the rom. Then replace the sim card after all the installation from the rom you are installing..
First go back to the task 29 post and read all the instructions.
Task 29 is a memory wiper,it completely wipes the memory of the device leaving only the radio and basic functions.
To get up and running again follow these instructions:
1. Download the newest stock rom for ATT found in the Rom Development forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737168
2. Remove back cover from the device, remove the battery, remove the SIM card and remove the SD card if you have one. Reinstall the battery, do not replace the back cover.
3. Power up the device and connect it to the PC. Press the down volume button and press and hold the stylus into the reset button, hold both until the boot screen appears. Windows may install some software at this time, let the software install.
4. When USB appears at the bottom of the boot screen run the ROM installer software run. Follow ALL on screen instructions.
NOTE: If you have Hard SPL installed you can install any custom ROM, if not you MUST install a STOCK SHIPPED ROM.

First of all check to see if your phone is hardspl'ed by turning phone completely off then hold volume down key then power phone back on from here you should be on tri-color screen see what the spl version says if it says 0.85Olinex it's hardspl'ed anything else is not hardspl'ed.
If your phone is hardspl'ed then your good all task29 does is wipe your entire os off your phone thats why it won't boot to nothing but the startup screen so in order for it to boot you need to flash a rom on to it, so like before power phone off hold volume down key & power phone on you should be on tri-color screen again at the bottom of phone screen it should say serial now plug in usb from computer now it should say usb at the bottom of phone find a rom that you like then flash it phone should reboot after flash & work like normal once again.
Hope this helps
thank you all you guys. you all were awesome. as you could imagine, i am new to wm. but with the help of every body, i got my phone up and running.

no problem i'm glad we all were able to help you
Hello all,
I've searched and found some things, but nothing that matches my problem.
HTC Kaiser, branded Swisscom. HardSPL, I don't remember the version. Trying to get to tricolor screen, no key combo works. Camera+reset w/stylus, camera+power, even the two soft keys to reinstall the rom in memory.
After pulling the battery (and waiting more than 5 minutes) and inserting again, pushing the power button turns on the green LED, but goes no further, even after waiting up to 10 minutes. Pulling the battery, then plugging in the USB charger (without presses the power button) will flash a white screen after 7 seconds, then a pause of another 10 seconds, then the phone boots in to Android (again, without pushing the power button, just plugging in the USB cable.
Once in Android, everything works (except the factory reset, it just hangs forever). I need to install WM 6.5 ROM.
Tried the KAISDIAG.NBH and the 329 HardSPL recovery, but no reaction and still can't get to the tricolor.
One last piece of information, when I plug in the USB data cable, the phone flashes the "USB connected" message, and then repeatedly flashes it again every 3 seconds. The computer makes the USB connected sound, but no communication and the KaiserCustomRUU.exe can't see the phone.
Any suggestions to get to the tricolor? It unusual to turn on the phone by just plugging in the USB cable.
Thank you and great work.
Try power+camera+stylus pressing the reset.
A while back the charging behaviour was changed, so that now plugging in a charger, or usb, boots the phone, ( previously we could not charge if it was switched off).
Your problem of `losing` the bootloader has been seen before, but is rare, and seems to have no definite cause, the last time I remember seeing it turned out to be a faulty camera button.

Thanks and one more question
Thanks Zenity.
I'll continue working on it. One quick question, is there a command in Android to force a hard reset or to the boot loader?
Camera Button
Ok, after searching more (due to Zenity's suggestion) and reading other threads, I don't think it's a faulty (Fawlty?) camera button.
Somehow, the phone takes along time to boot, and must use some info from the bootloader, as it loads Android.
But all attempts to get into the bootloader fail. I can't establish communication by USB, but I think I will focus my efforts there. I've pushed and help all the buttons in different combinations for too long.
I'll let you know, and thanks again!
Ok, done some research into way to detect that the camera button is functioning, ( since this button is vital in getting the bootloader), no luck yet, but research continues, looking at remapping the camera button using atools, just so i can get a response of some sort, ( normally the camera button does nothing in android, it's unmapped).
Edit: nope, atools won't help, won't let me remap the camera button.
Atools-keymapper remap the key only in the android GUI not in kernel so any change doesn't effect directly the kernel.
Yeah, realised that, just thought there might have been an easy way of diagnosing the camera button, to see if it was at least functioning, but if it's not enabled at kernel level then it will be difficult to test without disassembly and getting a meter on it.

Update - Android.process.acore
Hey all, still trying to connect by USB to use the CustomRUU tool. Now when I plug in the USB, I get a repeating 'Process android.process.acore has stopped etc".
when I click force close, it pops up again and again.
Pulled the battery, and rebooted. Now it boots repeatedly, it shows the splash screen, right when it should go to the Android home screen, it reboots.
Any ideas? Thank you!
probable that the FC and subsequent reboot corrupted the data partition, which is known to happen when the device shuts down unexpectedly.
You can try a 'fix permissions', and 'clear dalvik cache', but normally it takes a wipe and re-install of the system, you may get away with not clearing data, but it's often safer to go for the full wipe of system and data.
