Stuck on O2 boot screen - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

While upgrading my XDAII to the new O2 rom, I got a connection error which tiole me to disconnect the xda and do a soft reset.
I did this and it's now stuck on the O2 boot screen and wont budge, wont connect via active sync and does nothing else when I hard reset.
Have I f**ked it up ??
Please help,
Tommy

Don't panic
Just reset the device, place it back in the cradle and re-run the upgrade. It doesn't require Activesync as the upgrade process looks after its own connection.
Make sure the cradle is connected directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub. Also make sure the power supply is connected to the cradle.

Thanks, but that doesnt seem to help, the program just says that their is no connection.

Do you have another PC you can use? or try using a different USB port.

tried it on both and nothing, It looks like the XDAII can't start up properly and that's why it can't establish a connection. As I said it's stuck on the O2 boot screen (the one with the bubbles on it) with the version nos at the bottom and does nowt else.
I feel sick...

OK. I misunderstood. I thought you were in the bootloader screen. So you need to see if you can put the device into bootloader mode. Press the jog button (bottom middle front of device) and power button at same time whilst pressing the reset button. This (hopefully) will put you in the bootloader - a dark screen with Serial 1.xx displayed. Then when device is put in cradle it should change to USB 1.xx. Then you can re-run the upgrade.

Whayhey
DCS you are indeed the man!
Thanks for your help.

lmao now i know..i was coming from an elfin, not used to diamond as of yet but now i know
Bootloader bottom says "serial" but wont switch to "usb"
Perhaps this is a known issue but I could not find the solution easily and ended up discovering it myself so wanted to share it in case others face the same.
I was try to use the mtty software to "clean" my touch diamond in an effort to get rid of some bugs in macadam 1.2 rom [great rom, by the way].
I had disabled the usb connections in active sync on my laptop [mac running windows xp in bootcamp]
I could enter bootloader easily but the bottom part of the multicolor screen kept saying "serial" and would not switch to "usb" when I connected the phone to the laptop.
What finally worked was ensuring that the phone was set for "activesync" rather than use as a "disk drive" or "internet sharing". I had assumed, wrongly, that once in bootloader the last selected option [disk drive] would be irrelevant.
So I exited the bootloader by pressing the reset key; connected phone to pc via cable; selected the active sync option; disconnected the phone; entered bootloader, connected the phone via cable again and the bottom of the bootloader changed to usb and I was able to use mtty successfully.
I wonder if this has implications for people stuck with bad flashes etc. In my case I could easily exit the bootloader and go back and select 'activesync' from the working phone. One could also hard reset if a working rom was on the phone...
BUT If one is stuck with the option of only the bootloader, would it matter on what the last selected option was [active sync or use as usb disk drive or internet sharing]?

This doesn't make any difference. When you're stuck in bootloader just plugin your USB and the display will state "USB" as well. You can flash a rom at this point.

Need help..My BA stuck in 'USB' / 'Serial' gray screen

heloo
I am currently upgrading my XDAIIs from WM2003 to WM6.5.
after checking the system from my XDAIIs, suddenly the power led went off and the sync is disconnected so I cannot continue the upgrade. On my phone screen there are only gray screen with USB at the top and V.2.07 at the bottom.
I have tried to restart the upgrading process but the problem is now my phone cannot connected to my laptop although I am using USB. I also tried to change the usb port and sync with other computer, but the problem is still the same.
FYI : at the beginning of the upgrade process, I didn't hard reset the phone. Is this the cause of the problem??
Please help me, does anyone have any solutions?
your device is in bootloader mode and it should show up as a ms_wm_device in
windows and you should be able to flash it again you can read more here

Bricked Diamond

Hi folks,
Can anyone help me?
I was using BSB 6.5L WM6.5 on my Diamond and i had some problems with that.
Mainly, my Diamond was "hard reseting" the manufactures settings everytime i turned it on.
So i decided to downgrade it to WM 6.1
At this point i started to have serious issues.
I installed Rom 1.93xx and just after the uptade, my Diamond froze in the first black screen (Touch Diamond and radio/Rom version).
Even if i do the hard reset, it freezes again in the boot screen.?
So, how could i go back to the Rom i was using before or install another one?
My Diamond is useless now... Hope someone can help me.
Thanks
should've used search, this is also a wrong forum for this topic.
with that said, power off the phone, press and hold power, volume down and reset until you see the tri-colour bootloader screen, connect the phone to your PC, you should be able to flash at this point.
do report back.

What technote said is incorrect, doing that will just cause it to try and read from the Internal Storage, what you want to do is what I did when I had the exact same problem;
With the phone on the frozen screen - make sure the USB cable is DISconnected, open ActiveSync/WMDC on the PC and in connection settings, disable USB connections. Now press the red reset button on the phone and as the phone is turning on (before it vibrates - 'touch Diamond' splash), you need to press Volume Down once, don't hold it. Just press it once. Now plug the USB cable in when the tri color screen appears, and Serial should be written near the bottom. Renable USB connections in ActiveSync/WMDC and then flash a ROM. All should work.
Thanks...
It worked flawlessly....

When i do this, it still keeps going to the splash. I reset, press vol down, and it continues to go to the splash. If i do it the other mentioned way, power, reset, vol down i get to the tri colour screen.
how to enter in bootloader = press volume down and reset simultaneous !

Trying to flash Tilt 2

Hi all, I have a general problem that I'm hoping someone can help me fix.
I have a Tilt 2, I performed a hard reset back to the stock AT&T rom. I am following the Hard-SPL instructions, but am having difficulties. Here are the steps I have followed:
1) Installed enablerapinew.cab to device and soft reset
2) Am running Rhodium-HardSPL from my PC, while the device is connected via ActiveSync (also showed up in Mobile Device Center as connected on Win7)
3) I am using the Automatic flash button, and I get the first warning dialog just fine. I press Next
4) HardSPL has a list of instructions, saying to make sure that ActiveSync is still connected. This is the part that has the error. When I pressed Next from the previous dialog, the phone goes black, but ActiveSync disconnects from the PC. I have to perform a reset on the device to get it out of the black screen.
I have tried these methods on both a Windows 7 Machine and my Windows XP laptop. It seems that when the phone switches into the black screen, the PC is no longer seeing it as a phone device, so it automatically cancels out activesync.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
how long are you giving it? When it runs this your phone will reset and go into bootloader mode, so its possible that your phone is just loading. Do any on screen errors pop up?

After the first dialog box, the phone goes black and then does nothing unless I use the reset button. I let it sit there for about 10 minutes, and all it did in windows was install a Qualcomm driver. Not sure why activesync cant see the phone once it goes off. I just tried booting the phone up into bootloader by itself and seeing if any drivers installed, but nothing did.
Just tried a different USB port also, same thing.
The drivers it installs into windows when the device goes black are a Qualcomm driver, and HTC USB Sync. Nothing happens after that
try running it while in bootloader.
shut down your phone, hold the volume down and end/power key while using the soft reset button. Once in bootloader make sure it shows you are connected via USB. Run the hardspl.
