Firstly.. i'd like to know if every messaging software is thunderbird by default.. theres no other softwares rite??
well. . heres my problem.. im using faria's R32.. wm 6.1.. everything works great except for messaging..
at times.. i get lag and hangs on the messaging programme.. if in luck.. they phone mode will restart itself.. not soft reset.. but to reset the phone line and it tells me the message couldnt be sent.. if bad.. i'd have to soft reset myself...
and i couldnt receive messages.. not all.. but some of my frenz told me they sent the message but i jus couldnt receive them..
so anybody encouter this problem?? what should i do with it?
thanks in advance guys
I have had a couple odd issues with pocket outlook.
But for your question about thunderbird, I'm not sure what you mean. Thunderbird is the email client from the firefox/mozilla arena. Outlook is the Microsoft client.
Try creating a new email account on your phone, and name it something different, like, if it's from gmail, name it gmail.com, or gmail1, or something that is different from your current one. Then delete the old one. That has fixed some issues I have had in the past. I think a file gets corrupted, just not sure what file yet.
its not about microsoft outlook.. or thunderbird either.. i always thought the messaging software was thunderbird.. pardon me..
the problem it with the normal text messages. not emails or others.. couldnt it be rom problems?
Ahhh, ok! It very well could be a rom issue. I haven't tried the faria rom in a long time, so I really can't remember any issues that I might have had.
If you wanting a 6.1 rom, try crc's or mine. If you want 6.5, there are a bunch to try!
hmm.. i've tried schaps wm6.0 rom too.. its still having the problem.. but its now getting lesser.. but one problem still exist.. i cant receive messages from certain person.. like 3 guys tried to msg me but i couldnt receive.. others just works fine..
i did a backup on the rom.. so its not basically clean.. might it be the backup carrying the problem over to the new rom?
im having your rom already, just waiting to be flashed. haha.. i guess its very soon if problem still persist
If your trying to do pim backup with messages I have seen some little oddities going from one rom to another.
I have also seen text messages not go through, or just take forever, going from one provider to another. I don't think they always get along happily. Never any issues with messages on the same provider.
yeah.. i do full backup.. which includes the pim as well..
hmm.. i nvr had this problem when i was using an old phone.. non winmo phone.. well.. for everyone rom i tried now.. its giving me problem.. but its all backed-up. guess i'll be trying out all the roms
yay man.
i think ur rom has jus solved my problem. lol.
but just one thing bugs me bout ur rom.. the memory isnt at its optimum.. is there any possibilites u can make it like faria or crc's.. they go 27 to 28 mb after a restart..
Part of it is opal phone canvas, it is a bit of a hog on memory. You could try a different dialer, or there is a registry setting to turn off phone "skins" I'll have to find it again if you want to try that.
Do you have any issues with anything running? I work mine fairly hard during the day, and it never complains about being low or out of memory.
the rom
yea..it shud be the opal dialer tats taking up the memory.. if im not wrong it shud the cprog.exe process tats running. i ended it with task manager and about 5mb of memory was freed.
i personally prefer the default dialer.. im not sure whats the name but i prefer it.. theres a vid call button above the green talk button.. crc's and faria's rom run it.
hmm.. the prob i have it with the memory. when im running opera.. when a msg comes in and the messaging sofTware opens, opera will be closed.. maybe it because of memory. i have like 7 to 8mb free when i run opera.
any suggestions?
hmm.. ur rom really works well. one thing i cant get is to get button 5 as flashlight shortcut. it says it cantlocate the file name.
hope there can be a free memory released by u. or maybe a custom made for me. haha.. 'fingers crossed'

Ahh, yes that is the full. I can remove things that you don't want. Make a list of the items you would like to see taken out, and I'll build it.
seriously thanks man!
hmm.. i'd really like to learn to mod a rom myself.. but im having problems with it.. well kinda gave up trying it..
im really not sure what i need and what i dont.. basically.. i'll jus need an empty rom.. i use Crc's device update. that shouldnt be any problem.. besides i'll be doing a full backup.. everything will be restored..
ur original LITE rom will be fine for me. and would be good if theres more storage and RAM of course. haha.. i dont need da opal phone canvas or anything. jus the default will do for me.
a question here.. do u use opera mobile for internet surfing? i find it takes quite a lot of memory from it.
Thanks again bro! cant wait for the rom

I'll try to work on it in the next couple days.
I mostly use PIE for browsing, but I will use opera mini, when PIE doesn't suit, opera mini is a bit lighter than full blown opera.
But, I just normally read news, sports, and weather on my phone.
i see.
thanks for the info..
hmm. im still having a slight problem with the messaging using the rom.. the phone connection gets restarted on it own and the message isnt sent. but it isnt a big deal. i'll get used to it. but on ur rom the problem isnt that often anymore
trying out the full rom now.. i seriously love the battery thing there.. but does WkTask mess with it?
and the pocket digital clock is superb.
do u have a cab file for it?
and maybe a cab file for the taskbar icons and the battery thing?
with the backup on the full rom.. im having some problem with it.. mainly with the start menu thing.
the dialer seems fine to me.. its almost the same as the old dialers.. the colours etc but the interface is changed i suppose? it seems diff in faria's and schap's rom. but its all fine
well its basically all fine. i'd jus like to inclue the taskbar icons and the pocket digital clock in the lite rom.
then i'll have to install everything manually without the backup and the rom would last me for sometime. haha
haha! glad to see your liking the stuffs.
With quickmenu (it makes the battery where it is), you shouldn't need wktask (I have never tried installing both at the same time). You can set quickmenu to close apps with the "x" button, it will list your running programs from the start menu. And I have alt tab assigned to the short press of button 5 to switch between apps.
Pocket Digital Clock is installable from device update, but very easy to include.
It's sounding like your backup is making some conflicts, so I would avoid it. I would guess all the roms released lately are "uc compliant", meaning you can set up files on your sd card to install cabs and even set settings (but that can be a bit harder to learn). You can read all about it here: [App] ROM Flashing Junkies: User Customization is here!
I'll work on removing the things that it sounds like you don't need or want in the rom, and get it uploaded as soon as I can.
Also, what radio are you running? I find that 1.47.30.10 seems to be the best overall for me. the newer ones just have too many issues. Just be very careful when flashing the radio, and use the sd card method.
oh.. i find the start menu is great too.. do include it in your rom bro.
guess i wont need wktask rite. ah.. radio wont be a problem for me. im using 1.47.30.10 too.. but i guess the sms problem isnt related with it. its fine.. i'll just need the rom..
lol.. basically.. im seriously liking ur rom. its really my taste.. and the opal theme.. works great. i guess im pretty sure what i'll be wanting.. mostly will be your full rom without the opal dialer, voice commander, adobe reader too. other basic stuffs will be fine.
i think i'll do a fresh manual install-over to your rom. hmm.. do include camera inside. well.. arcsoft 5.0 and HTC connection wizard. but if ur busy it will be okay.. i'll be using the device update. ah yea. SPB alt tab is not needed. I'll be putting in SPB pocket plus. its included inside.
what u can focus on is optimizing the memory to the best it can..
thanks in advance!!

Monday I received my 8525 in the mail. After setting everything up and playing with wm5 for a few hours I switched to vp3g's latest rom. I've done some tweaks to increase speed but it's still a little sluggish.
I've looked at the benchmarks that Karhu has made but I'm still not sure which I should be trying. Of course I could install new roms and find the one I think is fastest, but I'd like to get other peoples input on this.
What is the fastest rom? I'm looking for something that switches from landscape to portrait mode the fastest and opens programs and menus the fastest.
Just try them all, you will receive mixed opinions from users that use different rom's. You are the only one that can determine which is the fastest for you.
as custel has stated ,try them all, thats what i did to find the best rom for me
Yes, again the same question just a different day...
Go with your instincts and try a few!
Yes, try a few and then post back here with what you think is fastest to switch from portrait to landscape. I am curious.

Most likely one of the roms with a larger pagepool...
I've tried most of them and Black Satin and Hypercore SE feel the most responsive. Mind that you have to install your software on the SD card to keep your ROM snappy.

Yep.. Most roms when flashed are quick but slow down with the amount of programs you install/run. Just keep that in mind.

Weird, i do feel that the responsiveness of the system goes down when i install the apps in the phone memory. When i install them on the sd card the system remains much snappier.
That's my impression anyway.
schaps 4.01

BTW, I have used both Schap's 4.00 Full, Scahps 4.01 Lite and VP3G's latest releases (3.62.3?) All awesomely cooked ROMS and props to the chefs, but the ATT official Carrier release seems to be the speediest of all.
Now when you say snappier are you guys refering to the program running or just navigating around the ROM? My programs i need to run fast always run faster in main memory. As for fastest i like hypercore and beleive it or not the New ATT but ive been throught about 12-15 roms and versions since ive had my device and the ATT made it the longest with about 3 weeks use.

Where do you find the time to constantly do updates? That and don't you get sick of reinstalling software and updating stuff? Updating this thing is a major inconvenience, especially when you have to scrap all your dates on the calendar. (I know Activesync is supposed to back this up, but still, what PITA). This kind of constant tinkering is what drives people to the likes of the iPhone (I'm not there yet, though!)
Theres always new roms on here. Most roms take about 10 mins to update. I have all cabs saved on my memory card so it only takes about 20mins to set up the phone. Its just that everytime i come on here there is a new damn rom . I have looked at cooking my own but have had no luck. I actully just flashed a new rom and was looking for another before i found this thread...i dont know i may need help...

Setup a free exchange account with mail2web...that's what I did, I have my gmail forwarded there- that way, when I reflash I just have to setup the connection and it downloads my contacts, appts, to-do, and e-mail...works like a charm for me...I also keep the programs I install in a folder on my sd card, and just install them quickly as cabs, whole process takes me <10mins no biggie

Only 30 or 40? Faria and I would do that in one two weeks, eheheh!
yes, the saving your cabs to your SC and having SOME kind of push mail service is a must, IMO. Indeed I'll pull off to the side of the hiway, whip out my Thinkpad and reflash another ROM when the one I'm testing goes south... and I'm back up and running 10 minutes after it's done with a months worth of emails from my Exchange server. (Of course me having one cab that adds all my settings including my User info helps )

ATT is the shiznit
Honestly,
and i'm quite surprised myself, but i do find the ATT wm6 rom to be the snappiest i've tried. My issue now, is that there isn't enough space on it. I wish there was someway i could get rid off all the ATT stuff.
what i'd get rid of:
Internet Sharing (never gonna use it)
SAP Settings (no clue)
Push to Talk (don't live in the US)
Customer Feedback
Windows update
voice speed dial
windows media player (much prefer htc audio manager)
real player
zip (since it doesn't open rar files and i'm gonna need winrar anyways)
error reporting
oh & i want the kaiser comm manager & dialer
and to get rid of the god awful noisy att startup animation.
Is there a reg edit to make the picture when someone calls bigger? It is pretty much useless right now because it is extremely small. If there is no native way to do this, then a program would be nice.

photo contacts pro is a good 3rd party program that can blow up the pic in near full screen
I like Encallio for a 3rd party app to do this
http://www.nikafx.com/encallio/
I am so hesitant to install Photocontacts Pro. It screwed my registry up & a hard reset later prevented me from going back. It would send my calls right to voice mail if it wasn't loaded or the task was killed back in tmo 6 rom by accident. I also installed an older version but how stable is Photocontacts currently? Anyone have it running for sometime without (any) issues?
Still a memory hog?

I stick with v 4.03 for my dash.... Any version before that or after that just plain sucks...the latest version 5.0.? still sucks. After 4.03 the program did not run in the background and always shows up in task manager, which disallowed me from selecting the end all tasks. They are trying to make this program waaay more advanced than it needs to be..... I however have no problems with 4.03..... but the only thing i use it for is for the photo caller ID... i dont assigne special ringtones or speial profiles or anything involving text,,, which i think is what starts all of the problems with calls being sent directly to voicemail....... i tried encallio and i actually liked it, but i can tell it still needs more refinements before i will consider using it.
Good to know still going to pass on it...
So I shouldn't use the newest version?
Less than 24 hours into the phone and not fully explored but ...
1. As discussed elsewhere, the Snooze and Alarm issues suck. No Snooze intervals. "Next Alarm" does not show.
2. Receipt of txt msg. does not light up the screen, but I wonder if this is merely a setting in sounds and notifications
3. Default browser in the tf3d tabs blows. Does not appear it can be reset to another browser.
4. Call list does not show pics of the callers that are saved with their contact information.
5. The threaded texts are ok and I suppose I will get used to it but I am not cool with seeing my own outbound texts show up in my INBOX with the designation "me".
I have NOT installed any of my spb products or other cabs yet. Just feeling it out. One of the greatest tweaks was reassigning the PTT to Voice Recorder and I am hoping to do that with the T2.
I will experiment with disabling tf3d soon enough and maybe that will resolve some of these issues.
Big thanks to the XDA crew for the tips, tweaks and cabs that helped me customize my original Tilt and I am looking forward to what you guys can do with the T2.
i kept the at&t rom on there for like 10 mins. i flashed a few different cooked roms, but settled on the offical htc 6.5 rom. very fast, stable, and much less bloatware. i would advise flashing a new rom asap, before u set up all ur preferences.
I also agree that you will be much happier on any of the custom roms, or the stock HTC rom.
Unfortunately AT&T loaded so much garbage onto the tilt2 that the phone is sluggish and just not fun to use.
Once you get a better rom.... you'll love the phone.

Well, I am still screwing around with it but I disabled TF3D and then installed SPB MS 3.5. I have not installed any of the MS tweak cabs though.
The screen clarity and the keyboard make it worth the price of admission to me. I think I paid 199.
Will flashing over the HTC ROM give me the keyboard issue that is mentioned in another thread? ATT has managed to set new records in crapware. On the Tilt 1 I could hard reset and soft reset, eliminating the crapware. Does that work on this T2?
I have to say, I've had no problems making the ATT one work for me. First, I purchased 16GB micro SD external storage. Started deleting all the extra misc files that come with the ATT, demo music etc.. moved pictures/albums off to external.
Then I've gone through and started throwing on some of the tweaks. Removed bottom bar, disabled internet push, increased Opera tabs, removed Opera from staying in memory, threw on some of the extra camera modes, and hit up some of the common reg edits.
I've had no problems with the phone's performance now. Fast as ever. The Opera in memory was the largest performance upgrade since I saved about 10% memory.

The phone works ok; no "problems" just preference issues.
How did you take Opera out of memory? For a 10% boost in device memory I'ld do that, even though I also typically run with a 8gb card (which I have not put in yet...and how freakin wierd to have the slot where it can not be quickly accessed!)

install the NoPushInternet_v2.CAB
Second I forced Opera to close upon exiting instead of minimizing (taken from tweaks sticky)
* Go to: HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System
* There delete Opera9.exe (now it will show in the task manager)
* Go to: HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\TerminateProcess
* There, create a DWORD with the name Opera9.exe value "1"

Yes you will have the keyboard issue. But installed the keyboard cab fix and you're set to go. I'm using it and works great.
No, the hard/soft reset wont eliminate crapware sadly. You need to go to another ROM. Trust me, you wont look back.
why does everyone say that their screen doesn't light up when the get an SMS? Is Tmobile the only carrier that kept this feature in, because mine lights up every time.
if you don't like the threaded SMS you can disable it with Advanced Config.
Greetings All,
Well after 1 1/2 days of searching with no help or guidenance from anyone, (Sorry but alittle annoyed that no one likes to help, but I'll get over it) I managed to wrap up a hotfix for our SMS problem with lagging and not beng able to txt. I am currently testing this to see how it is working, and so far, on an install level it went without a hitch.
This is not a fix for a noob, I STRONGLY suggest noobs do not attempt this hotfix, I am not responsible for bricking, crashing, loss of data, or frying of your phone! I assume no responsiblitly and if you attempt this you are doing so with knowing the risks that come with this!
Now since that is out of the way:
This hotfix is actually the last hotfix for the HD2 that was dated 1/24/2010. As far as I know the last fix corrected the issue of being able to txt while the thread loaded in the background, and since Seppi the good soul came up with migrating the fix to tp2 but was a much older version (1.5.2011.2130) I decided I wasnt waiting for HTC and decided to take their HD2 hotfix and do the same thing Seppi did and here it is.
HotFix Compatability:
All 2.07.40x Manila 2.5 Roms. NOT COMPATABILE WITH ANY PRIOR OR FUTURE ROMS. All Languages Supported.
You Have to turn off Manila by going to Settings/All Settings/Today/Items and pick windows default. Also make SURE HTC messaging is not running or the hotfix will not install.
It will ask you to install either on the Device or SDCard. MUST BE INSTALLED ON DEVICE.
Fixes: (2)
1) Fixes the SMS lag we all have been dealing with and not being able to type as the whole thread loads. Now SMS's load in background.
2) So Far fixes the loss of contact picture, this is due to a resetting of the phone and associates SMS's to sim card and loses association with phone contact.
Known Bugs: (3)
1) Same as in the HD2 at times the screen when rotating from landscape to portrait might mix up the last line where the last line and the one above it merge, going back to landscape corrects this. Does not happen from portrait to landscape.
2) All prior SMS's might not associate with the corresponding phone contacts.
3) This MAY reset your MMS settings and will need to re-enter MMS info. based on your service provider. You can reach this by tabing to Msgs/All msgs/Menu/Settings/Options/Menu/MMS Server. Select SampleMMSC to change your settings Manually.
Or going to Settings/All Settings/Connections/Connections Setup and going through the wizard again.
Notes:
I have attached two files, One is a direct install with no way to uninstall it, this is how I have it setup and is working. The other file has an uninstall feature incase of anything can be removed. I have not tested the one with the uninstall feature to see if it would work that way, but Your free to test it out.
To know if the hotfix has been applied, to go Msgs/All Msgs/Menu/About if successful, your app build should be 1.5 (Build 2011.3631) The original version on the TP2 was Build 2011.3831.
Any comments good or bad Feel Free.
75 Views and no one has anything to say? Gee wonder about that one.
And no one willing to try it huh? Well I can tell you this much it has made a difference so far, and it seems it might have fixed two POSSIBLE problems as well:
1) I have no SOD as of yet since doing this, even with weather animation.
2) No screen going black while typing or right after hitting send.
What can I say... If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
Others who have this problem might chance it but since I don't I'm not gonna stuff up a stable phone just to see if it breaks it....

Oh it's broke alright. I haven't looked in these forums in a while. I gave up waiting for somebody to get a fix for this but I was curious and decided to take a peek in here to see what people are up to. The reason "it ain't broke" for some people is because they either don't have much sms volume or they clean out their inbox on a regular basis. For those of us who have a large volume of sms and don't have the time to clean out our inbox, it's definitely broke.
Anyway, you don't know how happy I am to see this fix! Thanks so much. I'm going to try it and I'll report back.
One question though...You say it's for manila 2.5...I'm not real fluent with the whole manila speak so I'm not sure if this will work on my phone. I've got a att tilt2 with the stock 6.5 rom running spb mobile shell. Will this update work on my phone?

Explanation: People like me see the title and wonder: "What's this?". So I click on it and see it's a solution for a problem that I don't have and haven't even heard of...so I have no comment on it. There's no big mystery about it nor any reason to take it personally.

The Stock 6.5 that came with your phone is WinMo 6.5 Manila 2.1, it will not work with this version I do not suggest it at all. This version is for anyone who HardSPL-ed their phone and are using any of the generic HTC Roms without any Service Provider Bloatware. I would Add Customized Roms to the list but I think most Customized roms removed the 2.5 msging app from their cooked roms.
MCbrian
The people who dont have this problem either are using stock Roms from providers that have the 2.1 version of the app which didnt have this issue, or are people with the New Roms that are not heavy sms users, Or are using cooked roms without the 2.5 manila app in the rom and have reverted back to the WM msging app.
BTW FYI HTC didnt make the new msging system, its a 3rd party app, originally made by Jataaya, but was bought out by a company in india called ComViva which actually makes the app I believe.
Hi
Just installed the fix: looks like now SMS application has much better options, it just works better. I restored 500 messages, as for now it works smoothly. No hung after sending message. I'll test it for few more days, but even now I can say it fixes the buggy app!
And quick question: bulid version of the fix suggest it is 'previous' version (3631 instead of 3831). How is it?
and regarding SOD: had it 3 times already since instaling hotfix, but it is not rather related to hotfix. Just want to tell that hotfix doesn't fix SOD...

Glad to hear it fixed your problem. Question, did you use the uninstallable cab or the direct cab?
The reason for the version difference again is that HD2 software versioning is different then TP2, HD2 jumped from 2031, where The stock TP2 6.5 Manila 2.5 had the 3831 Being that its from HD its the same app but different build #'s.
And thanx for the feedback and about the SOD being the only one who was using it and not having the issue anymore I thought maybe it had something to do with the fix, but thats why I said POSSIBILITY cause being the sole user I had nothing else to go on.
Glad I made a difference. Thanx.
I used version with uninstall option. After another day of testing I confirm it fixes the most annoying behaviour of HTC SMS app. Sad that many people complain about the bug, not many want to try the fix- just look at the threads...
Regarding SOD: I contacted HTC service, they advised to upgrade the firmware (that's why I had to test the hotfix), now they say I have to 'repair' the device. I'll try. My company uses more than 40 TP2s, I am the only one who enocounters SOD. Maybe it is really broken...
Once again - thanks for the fix!
OK, I've installed the un-installable version, so far it seems to work well - the HTC messaging has never run so quick.
I'll keep an eye on it over the coming days.
much more smooth now! thanks!
Agreed, I also installed the removable version and it seems to work all ok, certainly much better than before!. This maybe a coincidence but when I flick through my picture album now (full screen images), sometimes it takes 2 or 3 'flicks' to get to the next image, don't remember it being like this before. It could be that the images are about 4mb a file, hhmm, will have a look at this.

The SMS Hot fix does not change any files that have to do with HTC Album, so it either is coincidence, or you were not aware of it before. But I assure you the two are completely unrelated.

That's what I thought, have just resized them, now only 1.49mb a file Definately better so must just have been a coincidence, will resize again properly when I'm back home to see if it's any better. flippin annoying! lol.
I have tilt 2 energy rom, will this work for my phone? the sms lag is bugging the crap out of me.. Thanks in advance!
AD_SMS_HotFix_w-Uninstall
I just installed it on two us t-mobile hd2's. One is the orignal rom and the other is the updated rom. Both are responding much better to sms. The new rom is working almost perfect 99% better than it was. The orignal rom has 85% ish increase in speed so I would say that this cab is very much worth the install.
Thanks for you work.
AD_SMS_HotFix_w-Uninstall
I figured I better give some more info.
I lost no sms info on either device.
I have had no issues in any of the other functions on either phones.
So again thanks for the work.
this is just personal opnion, but this version blows away the 3/31 build. i juss had issues with data not wrkn but i fixed it with the tips in the threads. I hear people talk of stability. well, to me, this new sense version moves way faster and smoother. really. juss make sure to cut off the 3d harware box..it isnt wrkn and will slow things up. i have more features working in this install than the 3/31 build.
my last install didnt load all the folders right and i never saw a keyboard selector or update. checked thru everywhere in device, no luck..but it still worked, i juss couldnt auto update and i was getting hung up trying to change the files. Now, with this new install...everything is perfect..lol i know have "andboot" folder....my last install named it "Android" and no matter how many different ways to change folder name or replace, it didint work. Now all i gotta do is auto update..which i did with this install also..wrks perfect. now my my dual boot wont recognize it...i tried to different versions the 1.05 and 1.06 Gene Y dual boot cabs, no luck..not worried though, i figure it soon enough.
almost half the day been on Sense...i always keep a charger close by. lol for all the skeptical people, wifi does work..i tested it..its pickn up signals...my 03/31 install didnt wrk..as far as wifi goes...im making and recieving phone calls...juss set your calls and txts and emails to vibrate...it works..all my data wrkn perfect...i got opera mini 5 up here along with a ton of stuff i downloaded..lol
A smart move to do is to use your Astro Explorer and press menu to back up data/apps..u can bck up all ur dwnloaded stuff from the market or wherever..and be able to reinstall them if u ever reinstall a new xdandroid version or somethng. ive did install/uninstall numerous times already..so knowing i still have my programs backed up is good. get opera if u havent....its way faster thn the android one. i got programs im dying to use once everything wrks on this build like my morse coder or the virtual walkie talkie apps..i cant say enuff how truly amazed with this forum, its members, and the Feats being accomplished here. and they do this for free...Unbelievable...THANK YOU DEVELOPERS N ALL WHO MADE THIS BUILD POSSIBLE. i cant wait to show this off to my pops and friends back home...ima blow their mind...
Im staying with Sense 2.1........cuz IT MAKES SENSE...lmao
to me this is better than last version and moves faster, at least on my tilt2 it does...oh and if u want true speed readings, get the Speedtest.net app frm da market..its free... if u think im pulling your chain on this build, juss look at da sig..im on android sense now on xda app..wit no problems..im goin crazy ova here on how cool this is...i just joined this site not too long ago n already got my phone on a whole new level of being upgraded..i got all da fixes. 3D DRIVERS...DA LIST Goes on and on..too cool

Or if you're using the startup utility then just uncheck the box.
i think I've confirmed that rooted apps and WiFi tethering works on this build. i downloaded barnacle wifi tethering app from the marketplace that said ur device needed to be rooted in order to work. well it seems to wrk. i know wifi wrks for sure and data, so therotically should. i gave my old tilt to my mom so cant test right this second but the program runs fine and commands say its broadcasting successfull. goodnight..lol

Which installer did you use? The .cab or the .rar?
demandarin- would you say the new build is stable for the majority of Android features? What's your opinion on using it as your default OS system for the Tilt 2?
hey
this is a great version and i think its basically usable for people who arent dying for the GPS, bluetooth, and camera. the one thing that is killing it for me though is the lack of the speaker and headphone jack working. that is the only features preventing me from using it all the time.
i know these guys are making great progress but does anyone have any idea when theyre gonna at least solve that issue? because im sure that would bump up its mass appeal

its pretty stable, to me. it isn't my default OS yet but keeping it on longer and longer everyday. I be pushing da limits on this build. as far as apps and modding Android within itself. essential functions wrk like being able to make/receive calls, txts,data,WiFi...I can even do WiFi tether wit app I found on marketplace. I had marketplace wrkn but I messed around and now its saying serve error but my gsm and data wrk fine...marketplace acts funny at times..lol ill get it wrkn again soon, already deleted data img. I get tired of reading all my settings and apn and downloads..I hve alot..there's some good tool apps on mrktplce

I personally think its SO annoyingly slow. I'm constantly waiting for screens and lists to populate, and it makes me feel like I am using WinMo again. Contacts take forever to load, and the sms app, takes FOREVER to populate. Then when you're trying to do something sense will force close itself, and then you find yourself staring at a black screen with "htc" on it, and you have to wait for it to completely start Sense again. Personally if I want sense UI, ill use WinMo ROM with it, at least everything works that way.
The AOSP 2.1 is WAY smooth, and SO fast, and a more "official" release. 110Mb free ram vs 45Mb sounds WAY better to me.

ok well that is a damning summary coming straight from the horses mouth! Thanks for all the advice everyone, sounds like AOSP 2.1 is the way to go for stability. Can't wait to try this out. I won't have to switch between my G1 and Avantage for much longer.
i downloaded that 2.1 no sense last night after i posted. I installed it juss like any other build but couldnt get it to finish the haret loading. 3/31 2.01and the 4/23 2.1 w/Sense builds i had no problem installing and running. I even checked the folders and it was all correct, in the andboot folder with all the necessary files in it. Even updated the 2.1 AOSP b4 running it the first time. the first time right after haret started up, it got hung up in the beginning..so i rebooted to try again. this time the haret ran the loader all the way till the end and got hung up right b4 the startup screen. said something about trying to init. pid or something. it kept on searching and repeating the command but no luck. i shut it down after i seen it aint gonna load up..lol i really do wanna try this build also but get tired of uninstalling and installing and setting up all my settings again. i have a ton of downloaded apps for the android already. after no success, i just installed the sense one again. Wrks wit no problems..lol
Theres ways to make it run faster within the os itself. I found alot of good memory manager apps and startup auditors. The reason i believe it runs laggy at times is because of all the programs always starting up without u even doing anything. U gotta kill apps all the time. I cant remember the name, but i have this memory app tool that lets u set a minimum and maximum MB for ur programs. For example i set it to 50mb, the program starts killing off apps in order of priority in order to maintain at least 50mb threshhold. works pretty well to me. i might try that 2.1 no sense build again another day but im stickin with the Sense build for now. It has potential..lol

yeah im glad theyre working on it either way, but ill only start using it as my full time OS when they get that feature in at least. but it sure is fun to mess around with in the meantime
yeah, i believe its gonna come soon. I be away from my phone alot and need to hear it when a call comes in or i get txts, or "BACKGROUND Notifications"..lol that made me laugh...thinkin of somethin someone else told me in another thread.. I believe Reefer posted up the new cab for the 2.1 non-sense version. I havent gottn to try it out yet. Im still havin fun with the Sense version. Plus finding out how to cut the Sense UI off is a big plus for me. Now everytime my device boots into Android, It asks me what UI i want to use. Either Home, Sense, or Launcher. if i use home or launcher , it loads right up. Not like when using Sense and its loading forever. I like it cuz i have the option to choose.
