i must just tell everyone that SportyPal was a realy nice program working perfect on the HD
its a tracking program for workout and its realy simple and easy to use and give realy good information
http://www.sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/730
see my biking today there
only 1 flaw i was in a tunnel and then it lost track thats why its a straight line if they fix that (i have reported it) this program has realy big potensial and its free
anyone else have tryed it? or have a program like this i should try?
I tried out yesterday, it's exelent, works perfectly.
The design is almost perfect, very clean. It is very simple for insatling, registering and using, one button press for every functionality. Except main stats screen where time, distance, speed, average speed and calories burned there is another screen with actual track. On some phones track is integrated with compass on the iPhone and Android there is live Google map. The price is RIGHT - FREE. And the web site very functional.
Yeah, it looks promising, i'll test it after exams !
Thank you gnagis
I tried it yesterday, WVGA on my Xperia is looking great. The map feature with compass is interesting solution, first time seen by me...
http://www.sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/1649
Sportypal web seems to be interesting, with one workout I could not say much, but there is RESULTS link with diffrent statistics....
I'm using Diamond, and on my phone it works and looks great.
I can leave my phone while exercising and then with just one click i can put all the data on their web site. Also I can say that the community service works amazing, can show my workouts and maps to my friends and colleagues . Very nice very nice...
Thnx gnagis for letting us know about this intresting software.
Im stuck at "initializing GPS" screen... any advise on this ?
Though My navigation software works w/o any problem.

Looks really nice and I hope it works just as well!

I saw the article it looks promiseing, but there is too much technical stuff. Is it ok you turn on GPS every 10 min? I noticed that most of the problems cames before GPS lock.......
I don't know how it works GPS at Sportypal, but I've noticed that after 1-1,5 min from workout start Screen goes down, if you like to see info during workout press ON button shortly and screen goes on for 15-20 sec inough to see info, if you touching the screen time is bigger. Probably this save energy.
On my Xperia at least 6 hours and more, enough for me.
http://www.sportypal.com/Public/Workout?workout_id=2326
Some on did 147km (91mi) and more then 6 hours see the link.
After couple days of use it, I discovered that Sportypal web is full of detailed info. If you are logged in, there is My Results tool for statistic of your workouts and My Records. And also there is tools for analyzing the workout track.
And the most intresting, there is a people with diffrent phones platforms whith who you can be a pal. There is NO PHONE DISCRIMINATION - I like it most. If I decide to change the phone I can continue with sporting on the same way.
Once i also try to use this cycle computer, haaaa it took a lot of time until i got him running, it's way to complicated procedure to get turn it on. I would go with the sportypal, it's simple, easy to install and use.
Thanks gnagis,
I'm using Sportypal couple of days, and every day I discover one small pleasent surprise. I found "track" during the running with built in Compass on mobile application, and button analyze on the web. For this you should be loged in.
Sportypal motivates really much, example is my cycling from yesterday:
http://www.sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/422,
haah 16,14mi with average 14,48 for me the best average for now.
Thank you for the tip! First impression: Confirming, very easy to use, very fast access to Sat (normally in a few secconds), battery drain looks okay and for me very important: the screen turns off automatically (as above described).
You must register on the website to have the export option (gpx-file).
Very nice & useful application!
Thanx for the tip!
Tried it and is werry good. Use it for running. You can export the track.gpx and than import it to some other program for statistics (I use myasics).
Werry goog!

Yesterday i was walking with my dog, for 1h30 with music on, when i came home the battery level was around 70 %,
I just saw that on their website now they provide a way to embed the maps on to other websites or blogs. Great stuff if you have a blog or you want to show people your rides or performances.

Sportypal and the switch off button
Sometimes, when I have been hassling with my TouchPro2 I see that Sportypal has lost the GPS connection.
When looking the second time I see a straight line between the last time I touched it.
I think I have hit the power button on top of the phone by accident .
But programs like Agile and MSN keep working on the background after hitting the power button. So why not Sportypal?
I work with or without S2U2 and see no difference.
Maybe I am wrong and that's why I have the following questions:
1. Anybody using S2U2 while working with Sportypal, and if so, with which settings?
2. Or do you just put your phone in your pocket without touching anything?
In that case I have the idea that I accidentalyy hit the pauze/continue button while in my pocket.
3. At battery, advanced settings, you have the second square(Switch off after x minutes when not on external power) toggled or not?

Sportypal 1.0.7 is mature application. It is Sportypal but with some small but important things. The www.sportypal.com has new features also GOALS and Compare tracks which is very good for every day training.

I feel kind of silly here. I did a search on the forum, and didn't find much.
I want to be able to look at my phone and see how much power is left. Right now I have to go Start-->Settings-->System-->Power.
Ridiculous!
Am I missing something?
You will need to install some plugin on the today screen to get the feature you are looking for. I personally use PowerCheck version 3.5, which is freeware and allows you to monitor both the battery and memory state.
I have attached a a CAB file with PowerCheck. Just copy it to you device execute it there to install.
dont install this program. i did and I have to hardreset my XDAIIs
Is this a general issue with the Blue Angel (or what device do you have xcalibur)?
Honestly, I have been running this plugin for more than a month on my Magician. It hasn't caused me any problems at all - not even something that required a soft reset. I find it strange that it should cause problems on the Blue Angel but not on the Magician given that they both run Windows Mobile 2003 SE PE. Moreover, this plugin has received almost purely positive reviews on several ppc freeware sites.
I'm sorry xcalibur, but I have ask: could it be that your hard reset was caused by something else than this plugin - or perhaps by a bug in some other software that doesn't work if this plugin is installed?
I have an O2 XDAIIs with ROM Version 1.12.62WWE. ROM DATE 10/4/04.
Try SPBPocketPlus http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/
You can create today shortcuts and put a small block style powerbar across the very top edge of the screen.
Loads of other features as well including the option to make the X button really close apps rather than just minimze them.
Completely customisable as well
anyway, thanks.
Hi!
I remember when i load the O2 Uk ROM there was this battery bar in the today screen, any know what program they use?
I hope if possible it can be extract from the O2 UK extend ROM, i just need to know which file?
I have recently upgrade to the iMate Arabic 1.31 ROM so lost the O2 features.

Try this one: TodaysInfo
Hi
Try this on: TodaysInfo. I'm using it on SPV M1000 & M2000 and it works fine with direct access to memory and bat.
There is one TodayScreen add-in where this one will disappeare but I don't know which one. Un/reinstall it and it's back.

Hi! Ag,
Thanks very much, appreciate your help. I have search the net for this today battery plugin but the one im looking for was like in O2 UK XDA IIs.

I'd recommend Magic Button 1.8. It's supposed to give you control of running programs, but also incorporates a powermeter, as seen in the top right corner.

This is the smallest and nicest I've ever seen. You can also choose the position on the top bar.
No installation required, just copy it wherever you want and execute (\windows\startup is a good place).
Tapping on it you will have immediately all your bat and mem information at a glance.
Cheers.

hi,
this file don't has uninstall option but you can uninstall it manually,
1- go on your pocket pc to windows folder you will find a file called bettery.exe,,, delete it
2- now most important you have to edit the registry because the phone will be looking for battery file every time you reset it and it will give an error because you deleted it , now using any reg edit software go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init
"Launch250"="\windows\battery.exe" <= delete this key.
that should work.
please make first a backup for your pocket pc, you may need it in case something wrong happened.
Regards.
'Uninstalling' battery_OU
Thanks for the reply; appreciate it. After I posted here, I started looking at files w/in the CAB & found the reg entry. I also thought it's _250 init meant that the corresponding pgm would get started in the order implied (basically about last if I remember correctly). Reminded me a little about the root pcs start sequence dependencies in Unix. So I removed the reg entry, restarted & the upper right icon disappeared. Then I was comfortable w/deleting the windows\battery.exe.
Rebooting, that-all looked fine. So then I thought I'd wait for your reply, to see what else I might have missed, then reply back.
Again, thanks for your reply. I think whoever built the CAB didn't build the corresponding uninstall; kind of 'hacky' to me, but, no harm.
FWIW, I'm using the kbattery executable that 'dave' posted in his post dtd Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:20. Small, works fine, can place in the Start where I want. Shows primary battery strength, which is what I'm mostly looking for most-all the time. Can click it to get more info if I want too (although it shows more detail about memory only).
Hi Guys,
hope i'm somehow right here and you are - more or less - interested in my concept/idea.
I didn't really know about this forum, but some guy in an other forum suggest i should post it here. Well... i do, don't know...
Anyway. Since the day i knew that WP7 wouldn't have any multitasking from the start, i was pretty sure how i would let it look like.
And a few days ago i saw the pictures of version 7753 with this search-button on the rightside and i realized, that MS could actually use that space.
So i decided that it would be time to visualize my thoughts, so here they are:
htt p://img215.imageshack.us/img215/5137/mulasking.png
Instead of the search-button i'd put a taskbar-icon at that place. Pressing the icon drops the actual taskbar with all running programms. By pressing an icon you can directly go into the programm/app, by pressing and holding the icon you can close it. And with the little up-showing arrow you can close the taskbar.
I also made the mail-hub a "wide-hub" (don't know how to call it...). First of all, i love those "wide-hubs", but it would also be nice, to see who wrote your latest recieved email and whats the topic is.
And last but not least i would like to split the zune-functions. I use the zune-hub basicly for listing to my music for example, so it would be nice, to sort out that function and create a music-tile on the homescreen. This could also work with videos, podcasts etc.
And... while i was in the mood i made some customization-concepts. I tried to keep all basic Metro-elemnts and just improve some things.
The transparancy is not knew, i know that it was introduced in an earlier conecpt by someone else, but it's a nice idea and i'd just love to see something like that. Of course it only make sense, if you can put pictures or at least gradients (like in the mentioned concept) on your homescreeb background.
htt p://img846.imageshack.us/img846/1870/custom.png
At last i thought about some all-over-themes, where you can't individually customize your UI, but use themes. For exempale i love the zune-look with, which is why i even made three different zune-themes.
htt p://img202.imageshack.us/img202/7904/themesl.png
C&C is of course appreciated... in any way.
And sorry if i'm totaly wrong here.
Buddy i can not see the pictures...It says to login to imageshack! Please Upload them somewhere else or you can upload them here.
Regards.
No. I'm a first-time-poster so i can't put outgoing links into my posts. At least as long as i havn't made 8 posts. ;-)
But i put a [space] between the htt_p. Thats why those links won't work with simple copy-paste. You just have to erase that little space there and the links will work.
At least they do it for me and i also have no imageshack-account. o.0
I can see the pictures okay. It makes good use of the blank space below the "next screen" arrow in WP7.
Maybe this is why Microsoft left the area blank The only thing I do not like is the way you did the close menu. I would do it like the OS has the menu system - bottom. It would also give you more options.
Can you give me wallpaper on the second slide?
wow! i think your concept of multitasking is fantastic! i really like the way it looks and its a very smart use of the space on the right of the home screen!
Looks really good! But what if you want to switch while being in an app?
I can see the wide eMail icon come really soon! Hopefully ;-)

Ditto to your comment. I was wondering the same thing about switching within an app.
After all, having return to the home screen is what we CURRENTLY must do... There's no advantage in this unless you can call up the task manager from within any app.

This is just adding a second set of tiles to the homescreen. That's it. Unless there's some way to open that taskmanager up within any app- it's no different than what there currently exists.

yea i can see what you mean. opening the multitasking in an app would be nice. but it would not affect me to have to return to the home screen
Yeah, you're right. That was, was I was kinda missing.
But here is where the actual multitasking that MS showed before could come to work again. While you're in an app you press the back-button a litte bit longer. What than shows up could look like it does now in the "officel concept", or maybe like this...
htt p://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4185/multi2d.png

I'll have a second thought about it.
And thanks for all the comments anyway. Made my at least think of something i obviously forgott.

Agreed.
I like the minimalist use of that side space, but I'm not sure a multi-tasking menu there is any improvement over the Mango demos. However, it might be a decent space for a "recent app" history bar, a toggle-able notification menu (a la Android/WebOS), or something along those lines.

i do have to say that is a fine idea. keeps all the tiles as the are on in the games area (like how if you enter multitasking on iOS the icons pop up with the same size as if they were on the main screen). so yea everything stays equal. both ideas are great! would be awesome to see microsoft impement one of them!
Very cool work! All of these are pretty realistic additions and I hope Microsoft eventually does something like this.
Your multitasking and customisation concepts look really good. I'd love to have multitasking like this.
After all, I would start the taskmanager by longpressing the Windows-button too.
Official concept says it will be longpressing the back-button but in my opinion you'll need the taskmanager more often than this useless voicecommand.
since ms is not yet done with their own concept of mt., i hope they are still open to other great suggestions such as this one. it maximizes the blank space on the right side, simple and neat. its a great concept. hope what they have presented in mwc will not be the final code for mt. they need to think of ways on how to simplify it and one good example is this one.
there are also pic in wmpoweruser about themes and transparent tiles

good job on the concept.

The goal of my application is to show the battery drain in percent per hour.
This unit if for me the most important, I don't care about the charge level of my nexus.
So my analysis lead to:
5-10 % lost per hour when normal use.
more than 20% when on Youtube
about 1% (even less) during the night with wifi off.
Does it work on other devices running gingerbread??
Thanks for the app anyways!!

I just updated the app and removed thhe stupid graphs to have something more easy to read:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.WazaBe.android.BatteryDrain
Great idea! My suggestion would be to add an option to show how long it takes to lose 1% for each %battery.
Great app, but it doesn't seem to work with Force GPU Rendering On
Great idea, and here are my suggestions:
Feature to show summary
Something like this:
Start logging: [datetime]
Time now: [datetime]
Duration: [?d ?h ?m]
Average drain: 1% per X minutes.
Common phone settings:
* Brightness: ?%
* Airplane mode: ON
* WiFi: ON ?%
* 3G Data: ON ?%
* NFC: ON
* Sync: ON (5 accounts ... ) <--- if possible to check/stats
* etc.
----------------
When measuring WiFi/3G percentage, just check every 1% change whether it is OF or ON
The idea is to be able to make screenshot of this summary to compare with other user when discussing about battery drain.
You know, to make this tool as some kind of "standard" tool for battery drain measurement. That would be nice.

A lot of great suggestion, the main problem is to detect when wifi, 3G, Bluetooth, etc.. are ON during a lost of percent.. I will have to make a lot of approximations!

I'm using a GSM Galaxy Nexus that is running stock 4.0.2 thats unrooted and has a locked bootloader.
I downloaded the app from the market and initilly it didn't work with GPU Rendering. Since then, I believe you pushed an update? Now the UI is blue rather than white (a good choice) and now it does work with GPU Rendering on
Great start, love to see where this one goes.

Just to be clear, my app will never try to diagnose wich app is causing the drain, I don't want to make hasardous approximations...
My goal is to display the raw data in the most efficient way and to let the user make his own decisions and compare the drain with or without an app installed or some settings turned on off.
I will try to display only very accurate data only
Just a question...
Do you need a lot of explanation for the summary windows I just created?
I don't want to make a too complicated app and will now work on making the app nicer and more clear to understant, but I would like to know what id the most diffucult to understand from your side.
Thank a lot for your feedback.

I think those look good, just an easy way to see average drain. It would be quite cool if you could break it down with a couple of averages (kind of like you mentioned in your first post):
%drain during standby
%drain while in use

I will of course implement that feature.
But you have to remember that the standby/in use detection will be quite approximative.
I need two consecutive points with screen OFF to start counting standby.
As you may turn on your screen during the interval, I don't like that for my computations... I can add some trigger, but I want my app to be nearly invisible regarding battery...
By the way, please wait one week or 2 and you will have something!
I'm quite good with the standby/in use detection being approximated. I'm primarily interested in seeing a value indicating battery drain in standby for long periods of time (like overnight) versus during the day while I am frequently using the device.
Definitely looking forward to what you can cook up!
I am on Stock Rom (Forgot to mention this)
I average about 3.30 hours of screen time with my settings everyday, today I had 4.30 hours, 1.4 Internet surfing, 30 min voice calls, and 12 hours of wifi, total time 22.54 hours.
This is my best so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...79392&page=114 (I think I can reach better results (Have better average results now)
Also please feel free to share your settings.
My settings:
Unlocked and rooted.
LED Notifications off (except for SMS).
Fastboot in power settings unticket.
Sound Settings - Turned sensors Off: Quiet ring on pick up, Pocket mode, Flip for speaker.
Brightness Control using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rightnesslevel (I mostly leave it at 15% its more than enough for my vision at least, then if out and its really sunny I just switch to 50% its a widget so its easy to use).
All vibration settings, haptic feedback and stuff off(except for phone calls).
All auto-sync off (everything updates when you enter it like email and weather and others so no need to be on).
All animations Off (you won't notice any difference after awhile so it might as well be off).
Phone dial, keyboard and other tones off.
In developer options-> Background process limit set to 3. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Using Core Control, can be found here (Must be rooted) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652136 and I have it set to 2 cores. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Have the backlights on the 3 capacitive buttons on the bottom off at all times using Tasker using a mod made by backfromthestorm, credits go to him and nobnut, mod can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1657619&page=3 (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another mod from backfromthestorm (which can be found in the link above aswell)is better multi-tasking which changes the values in sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree file to 1536,2048,3584,5120,15360,20480, I set the values using Tasker. (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another thing I do before going to sleep or not going to use the phone for a few hours is I use the built in app Task Manager's and kill all tasks and then turn the screen off, by doing this I have noticed that battery percentage doesn't mysteriously drop without using it.
Can't remember what other settings I may have at the moment but will add if memory allows
I have frozen the following apps and others:
I thought this way would be quicker and easier, I hope at least excuse my laziness otherwise

Old thread copied and up with moderators consent.
Old thread was closed due to pointless flaming.
Old thread could not be re-opened so I copied the contents, I hope people that comment here keep it clean and to the subject.
Decent stats:
This was pretty much hardcore non-stop usage.
This was pretty much not letting the phone rest from the moment it finished charging.
Will do some video tests later to see how long it can last while watching some HD flicks.

Thank mate.
Always have to be sure 100%
Thanks for all the tweaks, I have never had more than 2.5 hour screen time. Ill shall now use some of your settings to mix my own frozen yogurt (edit Ice Cream yogurt) . So far CM9 seems to be my bag, but I bought the phone for the camera...
Very useful thread, thanks
Just one thing though, the LEDs used for the LED Notifications use so little power that you can leave them enabled and it will drain next to no power at all! Not sure about the capacitive LEDs though, I can't imagine they use much power either!

You are welcome, yeah I know that the LEDs may not save much battery at all but one thing I like about the capacitive lights is that I have the options as widget shortcuts on my screen so I can turn them on when I feel like I need them, but most of the time I keep them off

Will give these tips a try. Quite a lot of cutting here, kind of reminds me of what David Cameron is doing to the UK economy to save money
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
thanks Johnny0906, wow just got the phone and that info is priceless.. Thanks
Thanks at first since it's a piece of useful information.
But I can't keep myself wondering. what do you use this phone for since almost everthing is frozen.
Out of curiosity I quickly put together Wear GPS test app.
It uses build-in GPS only! (Doesn't matter if you connected or disconnected)
Huge thanks to satstat [email protected] https://github.com/mvglasow/satstat for the implementation of SNR and Gps position views.
Install it on your phone and it will sync mobile app. Phone app is solely for installation/uninstallation.
Please let me know how your gps behaves. Mine is really strange - sometimes will fix quickly at home and sometimes outside just jumps between 11/20 to 0/20 to 4/20 to 12/20 withing 5 secs
I guess this attributes to zigzaging track.
Operation - Scroll face right to get into Sat positions view and then left to get back, Long press to exit.

P.S. DOP/HDOP and VDOP are not populated right now.
Changelog:
0.2 Added reset and request AGPS, tho have no idea if it works w/o direct internet connection, also added simple status screen by request
0.1 Initial release
Cool! nice app!
BTW, speaking of jumps, look at the graphs for pace I got with "my tracks" during my last test. As you can see there are a lot of times when the gps signal is lost. This does not happen when I use my tracks in my nexus 5.
This is cool. maybe you could give Runtastic and Endomodo some tips. I haven't found a running app that works with the native GPS yet, they all seem to only work if the phone is tethered to the watch during a run.
didnt find a fitting thread but you look like haveing a plan bout gps...
Im more paranoid user and was wondering, if I turn the gps of my phone, does this also entirely disable the gps module of my smartwatch?
And if the answer is "no" how can this total disable of gps be acchieved?
It looks to work fine on my SWR50.
What I'm missing is a page with ALTITUDE, BEARING, DOP, SATS written in BIG, since on the 1st screen is VERY very difficult to read while you are moving (too small text).
Can you?

Well, I can, but would I?
No promise, but will see what can be done in a limited time.

OK; the file should be this one

FANTASTIC: great job.
Maybe fonts size could be even bigger in page 3.
Thanks a lot: bravo!
great app!
font sice could be a littel bit greater, and is it show the satellites number?
the app itself works like a charm, except if i do a screenshot at the android wear manager, the app closes - but that happens with ervery app if i try to make a screenshot.
my swr50 has no hopping at all, just the altitude is too high (approx. 40 meters), but that is even the case if i open the developer menue.
Altitude is what GPS reports, but it is not reliable at low altitudes, better on a plane.
With app closure it is wear 5.0 feature I believe, but I plan to implement persistent notification in app closure. Once i find some free time - I'll do it...
Bumping an old thread, but still relevant at least ; loaded it on to my new SW3, and seems to work great. Only complaint of course is can't do the swipe to close; not the end of the world, but would be a good future improvement.
Still, thanks for the work!
When a 0.3 release?
Here's another GPS software from GhostRacer developer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...d=com.bravetheskies.gpstest&rdot=1&feature=md
It's very intgeresting.
