from the wiki here are the different types of diamonds by operator:
CDMA:
HTC P3051 / HTC Touch Diamond CDMA / Bell & HTC Touch Diamond / Sprint & HTC Touch Diamond / Telus & HTC Touch Diamond
GSM:
HTC P3700 / HTC P3701 / HTC P3702 / HTC Touch Diamond / HTC Touch Diamond P3702 / HTC Touch Diamond (White Gold Edition) / Orange & HTC Touch Diamond / Swisscom & HTC Touch Diamond / Vodafone & HTC Touch Diamond / Dopod S900 (Touch Diamond) / O2 Xda Diamond / O2 Xda Ignito / T-Mobile MDA Compact IV / EMobile Emonster S21HT / NTT DoCoMo PRO series HT-02A
EMobile Emonster S21HT / NTT DoCoMo PRO series HT-02A[/QUOTE]
Are definitely not GSM devices since neither Docomo nor Emobile operate a GSM network. As far as I know there is no GSM network in operation in Japan.

I have a DIAM400 from Verizon Wireless (US), which I believe is CDMA. Correct me if I'm wrong. I dunno.

this will work in europe?
i have one only catch 3g
if phone is tri-band or quad-band you can use it in Europe, cause thing is in frequency 850/900/1800/1900 mhz maybe numbers for frequency aren't exact , but look for that thing!
GSM 900 / GSM 1800 MHz are used in most parts of the world: Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East, Africa.
GSM 850 / GSM 1900 MHz are used in the United States, Canada, Mexico and most countries of S. America.
Greetz
yup that´s correct after i read this thread i google and discover good phone work only in 3G
back to canada

If you open the battery cover and you don´t see a place for a sim card then it´s a CMDA phone,CMDA phones dont have a sim card slot

Can any of the Diamond ROMS (except RADIO) be used on the USA spec Diamond? My mate has a Telstra (Australia) branded Diamond (USA WCDMA 850) and wanted to know if you could load cooked ROMS on it.
WDCMA Roms

look to ppc-geeks.
There i have seen any WDCMA Roms.

I have the US 3G Diamond, have used dozens of ROMs and all have worked fine.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you can use a ROM from PPC Geeks, as these are for the Verizon/Sprint CDMA versions of the Diamond, as opposed to GSM versions with WCDMA high speed data.
I have a Telstra branded diamond, and i have loaded a few cooked ROMs on it so far. Also put the 1.00.25.05 radio on it and noticed an incredible jump in battery life (even though it was technically a 'downgrade' from the stock radio)
What is the different between between T-mobile TP2 and Asia version? Hardware software? 3G work for both places in Asia and U.S.A?

The phone will work, but 3G will NOT.
There's 7 different flavors of this thing. see link below and do your research.

I have already do some research and i have read many posts in the forum.
I want to know if there any method to solve the problem now?
I have a HTC diamond which is "rogers" brand.
I use it in Honk Kong, all the things work perfectly, but i can not get the 3G signal
In the forum, i have gotten some information,
Rogers is 850/1900 MHz
Asia(Hong Kong) is in 900/1800 MHz
Is there any program to solve my problem?
Or it is the hardware problem, no software can solve it
Thank you for your help
Yes, you are right. Rogers Diamond will not work in HK 3G. HTC seems to have different version of their phone for US and the rest of the world.
So, no need to buy HTC phone in Asia or other country. It will not work in N.A.
Only a few old model will work in HK 3G and NA 3G such as
HTC TytnII
HTC Curise

He is right....and actually so are you, it is a hardware dilemma. Eventually they will make all phones truly a world phone in all aspects. Not half, half....
I have a TP2 which I got outright and currently has 3 sim. Today I tried my friends Telstra NextG sim and I can't get any service. Tried manual search and also tried changing Band from Automatic to GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850).
Nothing. Also, manual search finds Optus network but not Telsrta.
This is a bit of a bummer cause I was going to switch to Telstra NextG in few weeks.
Would a ROM upgrade fix this? plz help.
Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.5 HTC Rom)
ROM: 1.86.710.3 (67102)
Radio: 4.49.25.17
btw. My friend has a Telstra branded Touch Diamond2
thats quite interesting! telstra are yet to release their 6.5 update, but perhaps getting a copy from your telstra friend when its released will fix this?
My understanding is thtat the unbranded TP2 is a 900/2100 phone. the settings may allow 850/1900 but it will not work. My understanidn is that the nextG version sold by telstra has a different internal antenna setup
The unbranded TP2 is quadband GSM but does not support Telstra 3G. Does Telstra not operate a 2G network? If not then it will not work on Telstra. You need either a Telstra TP2 or a North American TP2 (such as AT&T or some Canadian ones).
yeah Telstra does have 2G, but the whole reason of me switching is the Next G network.
can anyone with an Telstra branded TP2 post their ROM and Radio, plz.
wondering if changing the radio will fix it. I find it hard to believe that HTC manufactures TP2s, as well as Diamond2 or even Touch HD, just for Telstra.
