Hi reisyboy,
If you flash in a proper way (meaning; Use USPL to unlock your device every time you flash with a new ROM), you can always go back to the factory ROM supplied by your provider.
I have downloaded the official -updated- ROM of T-M... before I was going to flash my phone. At a certain time I didn't see any improvement with an other ROM and flashed back in no time to factory settings. I have not used USPL for flashing back to the factory ROM. If you are having trouble finding the official ROM, try to find it in the Artemis-WIKI. Very usefull.
Read these instructions very good and you are in business
Grtz and good luck!
My 8525 started locking repeatedly up today. I haven't loaded any new software so I figured I need to do a hard reset and load everything. I have several questions:
1. Can someone tell me the process/steps I need to follow.
2. It has the factory operating WM6 installed, should I put someone else's ROM on the phone since I have to redo it? I use most of the HTC software with Spb modules.
3. If yes to #2, suggested steps and which ROM?
Sorry for all the questions, but I really don't need to brick this phone since I need it working tomorrow.
Thank you
Andy
just go to settings/system and do a "clear Storage" (=Hard reset) .
Since you need your phone tomorrow just do that and tomorrow night you can find another ROM . But first you will have to flash Hard SPL v7 in order to avoid bricking your phone
So I need to install Hard SPL v7 before I start upgrading the ROM?
Yes for safety reasons. But you void warranty.
Just search the Hermes Wiki . You will find how and what for
thank you.
Hi All,
I am new here and by reading a lot within several threads I got a bit confused.
I would really like to try these great custom roms, but I am worried about my warranty. According to some threads, it is not possible to go back to the original SPL after using hard SPL and some other threads mention putting back the original SPL.
So sorry for asking this question, which is mentioned in some other threads also. Is there anyone who can tell me how to back-up and restore my original SPL?
Thanx in advance
Robert

thnx in advance..
All the info is in the Hard-SPL thread. Go to the part where it says "how to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!"
If your problem is with the ALT key then there is a patch for that... dont do a return for that!!
I seem to remember reading that the T-Mobile radio isn't available for you to re-flash. But I think it's very unlikely they're going to check that if you return all the other stuff to stock. In any case, I don't see how they can say changing the radio has affected your keyboard.
no i kno about the alt key and everything, its a hardware issue non software. but thank u all for your quick replys. and thank u ohyeahar, hope this works.

Worth to read here in case you haven´t.
As far as I understand you can go back to stock ROM and that way you can send to warranty your Rhodium, however I could be wrong...
Let´s see what the experts say.

So you can´t undo hardspl according to experts
See the first post of the Hard SPL Thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
Look at note 2 to find out how to revert for warranty.

All that means is that you never have to HardSPL again to flash more ROMs.
You need to restore the original SPL for warranty returns, otherwise they will void your warranty (and I think they make you pay full price for the repair). The first thing they do when they receive your phone is put the phone in bootloader and see right on the screen that a non-ATT SPL is on the phone, and that you have messed with the ROM (it says right at the bottom of the screen in bootloader "Olinex" after you HardSPL, remember?). They will void your warranty for this. They look for any reason not to honor the warranty, and charge you for the repair. So make sure you restore the SPL.
Read the link that rgb posted above, it has instructions on what to do for warranty returns (flash stock ROM, then restore SPL).
