Hi all,
I was trying to upgrade my Qtek9000 with an official ROM Updater, but my device went immediately into the Serial bootloader mode and I've not been able to do nothing to run out from this mode...
I've tryied the solutions suggested in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290234 without any luck...
The problem is that neither Mtty nor the UNI_exitbootloader tool are able to connect to USB.
I'm using no usb hub, I'm running on a Dell Precision M90 notebook, I've disabled USB connection in Activesync (4.2.0) and also tryied with a pc without activesync installed.
Any idea?
Thanks
Paolo
Are you on XP or Vista, and what version of AS/WMDC do you have?
Hi,
I'm running Xp, ActveSync is 4.2.0, don't know what WMDC is sorry, can you please explain?
Don't worry about WMDC - it's only relevant if you have Vista.
Are you using the proper cable that came with the Universal? Some cables don't have all the pins wired. That (or a broken USB port) would explain why your Universal isn't going to USB mode when you plug in the USB cable. Have you looked carefully to see if it changes from saying "Serial" to "USB" at the top of the Bootloader screen when you plug in the cable?
If it does change to "USB", I would try upgrading to ActiveSync 4.5 - go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx
Make sure you disable USB Connnections in the Connection settings before plugging in your Universal. Then try flashing the CE ROM again.
Good luck
BTW did you try doing a hard reset to get out of bootloader (both soft keys and then the reset button, then select 0).
Good advice, especially with upgrading to AS 4.5, it's a full release now on Microsoft Update site, and I have a feeling the WM6 ROMs may require it... Good luck with it, keep us posted.
Ok, thanks all!
This morning I connected the PDA to my office's PC with it's original cable and it instantly switched to USB mode...
So, I launched the upgrade and it's now in progress... let's hope!!!
It might really be a cable problem, yesterday night I tried with 2 different PC and a not original cable (I think it's my camera one...)
Thanks a lot, by now... I'll let you know own this story will end...
Ok, new ROM is up and running!
Thanks all!
Bye
Paolo
Good stuff.
Hi,
I need your help please. I flashed the my Diamond with SpeedUP TOR ROM V2 GER. Now I would like to flash again, because I have some issues with Wlan.
But everytime I try to flash the updater hangs at:
"Checking informations on your pda phone. Please wait ..."
After 30-60sec I get the error [224]:
"Device not responding:
The update utility cannot get response from your PDA phone. Please check that your USB cradle/cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDA phone. And also check your PDA Phone"
ActiveSync and browsing through the folders in my diamond are working. Anybody any idea?
Regards Benjamin
Reset the diamond with volume down key pressed. You come in the bootloader screen. At the bottom you should see USB. If you see SERIAL, then there is no connection with your pc, plug off your cable and replug it again till you see USB.
Give your pc a little time to detect device and install drivers, then flash.
did you hard-spl your device first?

Hello. It is possible to HARDSPL a phone without using activesync?
Thanks to what i read on this forum i could upgrade my ROM without
activesync, but i couldn't find any threads about how to HARDSPL without activesync.
My ROM version 1.93.479.3 WWE / 07/25/08
Radio version 1.00.25.05
Protocol version 52.29.25.12H
SPL 1.93
Yes you are right, Rom's & Radio's do not require active sync but I'm afraid that Hard SPL is required to go the route of active sync.
Why what's wrong with your computer?
I can't make an activesync connection...I think is from the USB in my phone, because i tried everything....
With the original ROM (1.37.479.3 WWE) my PC didn't saw the phone at all....
After i installed 1.93.479.3 WWE my PC sees my phone sometimes, but says "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED"....
i have XP sp3, activesync 4.5...i disabled my firewall and antivirus, but no luck...
I wanted to avoid to bring it to service, because from what i heard the HTC service in ROMANIA is really bad...and if i broke it, at least i do it with my own hand...
try to hold volumedown and then click reset. continue holding volumedown until appear a screen of three colors on your diamond. Connect the USB cable and wait for the device appears on the screen usb. then do the hardspl normally.
I've seen the same msg a few times myself and thought 'uh oh'... but not too worry, my USB cord was the cause.
So, my suggestion - try another cord and if this makes no difference - try disabling the "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" option under settings>USB to PC.
Good luck...

I tried 2 more cords and i disabled the option, but I receive same error "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED"... So i think the USB on my phone is broken....
Thank you all for trying to help.
I think that i will go to HTC service afterall, because now it disconnects me while i am talking on the phone....and sometimes restarts while i am on the internet....
Think you have tried everything you can mate, I have had a go at my device to see if I could find a way to replicate it but have no problems with USB Connectivity.
Just get HTC to fix it, as you say it's likely there is some kind of fault, and with the other symptoms you are now getting it sounds a lot like the mainboard is on it's way out. First your USB goes, then you have Radio issues (calls disconnecting) and now random power resets, sounds like it's a bit FUBAR'd for want of a better word.
hello
i have a uni who stuck on bootloader (BL) bl- v2.01
i use tomal 8.7, browsing aplication and find storage manager (some with partition program... ) and my uni was frozen after reboot ... (long story)

I think if you look on HERE the all will be there for you to sort out your problem
Regards
Jay
hmm ive read many times universal wiki and i dont find there a solution.
i think when i "using" storage aplication in tomal 8,7 i delete a partition then it "stuck"
uni in bl mode when plug usb cable don't change to "usb" stuck on "Serial"
if usb cable is pluged in when i turn bl mode when "usb" shows but dosent react with pc ... don't recognize it, active sync have unmarked 'usb connections'
Do you have your SD card and Sim card out of the PDA??
If you cannot see
Serial changing to USB on your device, I say your USB port is damaged and that prevents you from flashing any ROM or device being recognised by PC.
hmm so my port in uni is dameged? ok its software damage or hardware damage ? 10 minutes before uni was stuck i change rom few times.
I don't know what happened but after I turned off the phone for a noon nap, I turned it back on after 1 hour and found my Zinc stayed at welcome screen (first screen, before it detects anything else), and nothing happened after that. I tried many times and it does not get over that step. I tried to flash another ROM, but seems cannot get in.
First I tried to flash with MARSII_G4.ABI from the miniSD card, but when I pressed right button (on the D-pad) and push reset, the screen flash and go back to the welcome screen, nothing else happens. I tried many times with no succeed.
Then I tried to plug into the computer with a hope to flash a new rom through Active Sync, but it only remained at the boot screen (tri-color), with the following information, and no more, and the Active Sync did not recognize (did not connect to) the Zinc mobile, though Windows did install the driver, and recognize that it's an XDA Zinc.
MARSII EBOOOT Ver20070711200506
H/W version v4.1
****** USB Loader *******
DiskOnChip G4 128Mb

Please plug-in USB cable...
AC Adaptor/USB Cable Plugin.

And the only way I can turn off my Zinc now is by pulling the battery out. Only the reset button can reset the PPC and return to welcome screen. No other button helps.
So, what happened with my Zinc? Can anyone help? Thank you very very much.
"Please plug-in USB cable...

Yes, of course I plugged the USB cable in for syncing with laptop, that's how Windows recognized the PPC but the Active Sync did not.
And I also connect to Wall Charger but it did not work.
That's why I think this is a wied problem.
