How do I Get a New SIM for Used SX66 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi all. I bought a used SX66 without a SIM card. It works great but I want to be able to use it as a phone, email, internet, etc. It is still locked to the Cingular/AT&T network, which is fine. I have a current AT&T account with a Treo 750. But when I put that SIM card in the SX66 it doesn't work. Is that because of the newer 3G SIM card? Everytime I ask the knuckleheads at the retail stores I get a different answer...variations on "yes, you can do it" to "it's not possible with that old phone".
So is it possible to resurrect this as a phone? And if so, do I have to get my hands on an old non-3G SIM? And then how do I get my account/phone # info on that SIM? Ugh.
Thanks.

I put in my new 3G sim and it worked fine. I had some trouble with it not recognizing it, but it turned out it was just a little loose inside the SIM holder. Im not sure why your BA doesn't like the SIM.

Go to the Mall to buy one!

Using MDA 111 without a sim card

Could someone tell me if this is possible ,
My friend has recently acquired this phone and has found that he would
prefer to keep his smaller original mobile phone for calls and to use his MDA111 for internet/gprs access etc and as an organiser.
I did a search and found a thread which said you could do this with the XDA11,but don't know if it applies to the MDA111.
Thanks.
You can use the MDAIII for internet using wi-fi without a SIM card, but you MUST have a SIM card to use GPRS
Personally I chose the XDA2s specifically because it had ALL thing in one device. That way I don't need to carry two or more pieces of equipment with me; its all in the one bit of kit
Many thanks for the reply,
Unfortunately it's the gprs that he needs,
The only other thing would be to have two sims the same(multiple sims)
but according to the girl I was speaking to she said t-mobile don't do them
But the same girl also told me that the mda 111 wouldn't even start up without a sim in it.
Any ideas about which companies let you use multiple sims.
Many thanks.
Check out this guy on ebay for device that allows you to use 2 SIMs on your XDA2s
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43805&item=6395920753&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
As per phone not starting without a SIM card, that is incorrect, when you start-up, it defaults to the phonepad, all you have to do is to click cancel and it gives you access to the PDA part of the device.
Goodluck!

T-Mobile do offer 2 SIMs with the same number (one for MDAIII, one for small phone) They can both receive incoming calls and only one at a time can call out. One of the SIMs has limited functionality. The service is called MultiSIM and you can actually more than 2 devices with the same number. I was quoted £30 set-up charge and £12.50/month for the second SIM on the same phone number.

As a variation I have an XDA IIs and I only take it out of the house when I'm on trips and want all its pda and other options. The rest of the time it's just used around the house and it bumps calls on to my old phone which now has a pay as you go card in it. This doesn't cost me much because I receive many more calls than I make. Doesn't help with GPRS though ... Cheers.

dual sim software change you sim cards on the xda2s

iv been waiting for this for ages.
http://www.wivit.com/products/downloads.shtml
its only just come out. iv been waiting so long i no longer use a dual sim :-(
Just installed this software... It works great... so much easier! A must have to all XDA users with dual sim!
DUPLICATE POST... PLEASE DELETE!
WIVIT SIM Status Switcher
I tried to install it to my IIs Rom 1.40 with Radio 1.13. I use a GHOST DUAL SIM ADAPTOR, the one where you have to cut the SIM CARD. At present, I switch SIM thru FLIGHT MODE on/off.
It will appear as installed program when I check the REMOVE PROGRAM but I could not see how to use it.
I also reset it after installation and still the same.
I also tried installing both the .exe and .cab and both don't work.
Waiting for any advice on what I am doing wrong.
You have to add it to your today screen as it's not activated by default.
Caught me out too!
Go to: START/SETTINGS/TODAY
Select ITEMS tab at the bottom
and then check the box SIM STATUS SWITCHER
Et voila!
Good programme. But for 15GBP and possible more USD I think this is an attempt at armed robbery. It is people like this that encourage software piracy. This thing is not worth more than 5GBP at most.
Meanwhile for those who havent bought their sim adapter, please look out for those ones that come with STK programme that allows you to switch SIMs.
Here in Nigeria there is one that has the STK programme and cost less than 15pounds.
Installed in my M1000 this morning it's brill as i change sims about 4 times a day to send text's. But £15 I dont know as you can do it for free with the flight mode. I will have to see when my trail peroid runs out.
Definately faster than turning flight mode on and off though.
Also good that you can see on the today screen which sim is currently active... had a few mishaps making calls on my "pay as you go" sim draining the credit etc.
Check toosten SIMname V1.3.4, much cheaper (6.95 €)...:

German software... I won' be able to understand it... plus I can't read how to use it.
Anyway, for some reason my trial of "Sim Status Switcher" doesn't seem to be running out! It's still on 15days (The full trial period), installed it nearly 2days ago!
A possible bug? Well if it continues I'll be saving myself £15!
Does anyone know if their are any other dual sim holders for the blue angel that don't require cutting the sim card? Don't really have to cut the work mobile sim card!
got mine here.

Got mine here:
\windows\stk.exe
My card is this one:
http://simemu.gsmhosting.net/6.01_Eng/
And i can have 10 different sim's in one.
and you've not had to cut the sim cards?
Just wanted to tell you all how pleased I am with Wivit dual sim program.
Works very well.Just one touch to switch sims, displays sim number in use. Have missed calls because of wrong sim in use. Finally the support answered in 2 mins.I was shocked!
I had probelems with the trial version
It wouldn't display my phone number alays shows "unavailable"
It wouldn't properly enter my SIM password
when I tried to fill in the support form on the web site, I was told that my IMEI number was incompatible.
Nice idea, and if I can get a working version, I'd probably pay the £15 as I will be needing to switch SIMs regularly & it's a nice thing to be able to easily see what phone number is currently active
[problems sorted - see below]
Got it working with a quick exchange of emails & I like it. It'll remember my SIM passwords & correctly enter them when I switch SIMs 8) , so for my £15 its worth it for ease of use

its just software, or am I wrong? I cant find a link to buy a card or adapter? Or a SIM cloning thing?
Does it works on O2 XDA IIS?
I would like to know if it works with O2 XDA IIs and what this soiftware does?
The WIVIT solution is a piece of software that you use in addition to a DUAL SIM card adapter available elsewhere. I bought my dual SIM adapter on eBay for about £10. Most dual SIM adapters simply switch from SIM to SIM each time you switch the phone on, so you could simply turn flight mode on and off to switch SIMs.
I use WIVIT simply because in addition to quickly swicthing SIMS it displays the phone number of the active SIM in the Today screen, and also automatically enters my SIMs' PINs for me when I switch. I think that this is worth paying for
PS - I use the "King of Double Card" SIM adapter & have an O2 XDA2s

I have the same problem. When I was running WM6, I would get this error multiple times throughout the day and I'd have to turn the PHONE function off then back on or sometimes I'd even have to do a soft-reset to get my Dash to recognize my SIM. Now that I have flashed my to Kavanna's WM6.1 I only get this error once a day, but I'd like to know how to stop it from happening.
Network: T-Moblie
Bought From: Ebay
Branded: Yes
Sim Unlocked: No
App Unlocked: Yes
WM 6.1 Standard
Radio Version 4.1.13.51_03.07.90
RIL Version 2.002
CE OS 5.2.19700 (Build 19700.1.1.0)
Thanks in advance.
If you have not exchanged your SIM in a while it could just be that the SIM is old, yeah it happens. It is free to swap out your SIM card at any T-Mobile retail store. I had this problem about a year ago and I simply went to T-Mobile and they gave me a new SIM (they just copy the contents of your SIM to a new one and program it with your number. Solved my SIM error message.
Also your SIM may be inserted wrong, it could be dirty (the contacts can 'gloss over') or there is dirt / dust in the SIM holder.. blow it out.
If all the above fails then it is the device, if under warranty have it replaced.
I had the SIM card replaced by T-Mobile about a month ago and that solved the problem for a couple of days, but now it's back. I made sure it is aligned right and clean.
Any other ideas?

Tmobile Compact IV big trouble!

I got a Tmobile compact IV (diamond) sevral weeks ago in nerthlands. and flash the rom successfully.
However ,there is a boring issue that the machine always went to death when the TMOBILE sim card inserted in. while i use other sim cards it can work!!
I really dont know what is the hell going on with the fuking machine. I even unlock the sim lock and pay for 15 euros!! The mater still exist~~
forgive my bad english . and anybody can help me ?
maybe you have a faulty sim card?? try another t mobile sim card - if you unlocked it and all other sims work it should be fine
Up to what state it boots up before dying.
i also got my t-mobile phone recently.
when i inserted the t-mobile sim card in, it froze the mobile while searching for network...
t-mobile told me that is because my sim card from t-mobile is not activated yet and it usually takes 48 hours before I can use it.
when did you choose to "activate your contract"? did you choose to activate it immediately?
you can try the t-mobile sim card on other phone. it must also show "limited service".
I guess the problem is not your phone.

Weird situation: No service after installing Lovebabyjing ROM

The reason I say this is a weird situation is because I'm actually using an old Suncom SIM card. My girlfriend's phone finally died after going through numerous drops/abuse for the past few years, so I was going to give her my old Dash. Now, the official ROM does that "network is locked" thing, so I figured I would a custom ROM. Well, I was able to start up the phone successfully and use it fully with the Suncom SIM inserted, but it does not find the T-mobile signal.
Is there a way around this, or is she going to have to go to T-mobile and have her SIM converted over to a T-mobile one?

is your phone sim unlock? In order to use other provider< you phone must be sim unlocked>
good luck
That's the thing though, it's not being used by a DIFFERENT provider, but actually by the SAME provider. The only problem is that the SIM card is from the old company before the two merged, so I'm guessing that makes a difference.

Maybe as we have company's that use same carrier yet the sims can't be used without unlock phone.
Eg: BT, Asda both use Vodaphone yet can't have a Vodaphone or Asda SIM in a BT phone without unlock...
