[Q] Best Finance app.............. - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Whats the best finance app? I need somehitng that keeps track of my per diem. I did see an app called PerDiemFY09 on the Iphone. http://www.appsafari.com/finance/8425/perdiem-fy09/
Something like that would be great. Thanks

I use SPB Finance for normal finance tracking and per diem. It can synch with MS Money and Quicken, although I haven't done that before. It also keep tracks of several (bank) accounts and can work with different currencies.

Yeah, I have that but have not explored it yet. Can it automatically sync with my bank account? Also, can it keep track of all my expenses? I travel 97% of the time & need to keep track of per diem, fuel, meals, hotel bills, etc.

The website of SPB (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/finance/) does mention that it supports OFX/QFX file. It hasn't worked for me though yet and this needs to be performed manually so far I know.

I can recommend IneSoft Cash Organizer 2008 Premium.
It has OFX file import for bank synchronizer NEW for the latest version.
I don't use the Bank sync feature but have used the program for years.

only for online banking but that can this tool perfect.
my personal choice is
Subsembly Banking

I'm REALLY interested in this, as I'm a long time Quicken user, but I'm reluctant to splash out £35 without being able to trial it first.
Does it integrate well? Is it easy to use and see?

Good news ! Free IM client for Cingular users

Instant Messenger Application Now Available for Cingular 8500/8525 and TREO 750!
START AND END DATE:
4/23/2007 - Ongoing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW:
The Instant Messaging application, currently found on the E62 and Blackjack, is now available via download for the Cingular 8500/8525 and Treo 750. Customers will be able to enjoy access to Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messaging (AIM), and Windows Live Messenger communities through one user interface. In the future all new PDAs and Smartphones will launch with the Instant Messaging application preloaded.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY SELLING POINTS:
· Mobile IM from AT&T Mobility offers customers a familiar desktop-like IM experience with features that include existing community user names and passwords, a chat conversation window, buddy lists, presence status, and emoticons.
· Mobile IM offers an immediate, yet informal communication option that other communications cannot provide (e.g. voice, email, text messaging). Consumers can extend their desktop IM community to their mobile device and vice versa (Mobile-to-PC and PC-to-Mobile, and Mobile-to-Mobile IM communications), enjoy 24/7 instant connectivity to their contacts, and communicate in environments that are not conducive to traditional voice conversations.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMPETITIVE INFO — THE CINGULAR ADVANTAGE:
T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel and Verizon all offer an Instant Messaging application on select devices:
· T-Mobile provides an IM application for select PDAs, BlackBerry devices. The client is pre-loaded, and supports AIM, Yahoo!, MSN and ICQ within one application. Customers are charged on a per message basis, or can use from a variety of messaging packages and bundles which include messaging.
· Sprint/Nextel provides an IM application on select “Power Vision” capable phones with support for AIM, MSN, and Yahoo! using separate IM applications. Customers are charged by kilobyte (kb) usage, and can choose from a variety of data bolt-ons that include unlimited IM.
· Verizon provides an IM application on select BlackBerry and “Get-It-Now” capable devices. The application is available via a download, and supports AIM, MSN, and Yahoo! within one application. Customers are charged on a per message basis, or can use from a variety of messaging packages.
Do you have a link to new IM? Or can you tell me how to get it?
thanks
no link as yet? or will we have to wait till the 23rd.
Maybe I'm missing it...
Is this application using sms for IM or data plan?
Does it charge the messages as a text message, or as data?
In other words.. If I have the unlimited DATA plan and NO SMS, will I get unlimited IM or would I need to pay per message sent via. SMS?
Most likely text, I believe that is how the blackjack works.
if this is true, then i'd guess the release of the IM app is related to the expected friday (4/20) announcement for unlimited SMS/MMS on cingular/att. the existing $19.99 messaging extreme 3000 package will apparently become messaging unlimited.

Here is the link that showed me how to download it. Basically you need to download the file through MEdia Net from your phone. It's a cab file.

here is the 8525 aim cabfile... Its the one from cingular.. it seems like a nice app but for some reason i am not unable to receive ims from ppl when i tested it... also maybe someone can hack it and MAKE IT USE DATA
i know someone here can do it so there ya go
to answer your question.... there is a program that u can use that does just use your data plan, its called imov messenger there is a free version but I would advise you to pay the $20.00 for the enterprise version......
http://www.movsoftware.com/products/imov/imov.htm
if you need help finding a free version just let me kno
This is the Instant Messenger that I use. I've used them all from IM+ to Verichat, etc... Mundu is very nice. The full version is only $11 USD. It says for smartphone, but it works for WM5/WM6 just like it should. You also have the ability to send files from PPC to users as well.
There is a 5 day free trial if you wanna check it out first...

I use IM on my phone when I'm in a meeting and need to touch base with other techs to get them to fix a server or something. But it doesn't seem real easy to use, and i'm concerned for my battery.
Which IM client seems to have the best interface and battery usage?
Thanks,

well i have this program running while im at work all day and it doesnt really drain m battery that much... it also depends on of your in a 3G area or not... when you are using HSDPA/UMTS it consumes alot more battery life than when your you just on an EDGE/GPRS network.... just a thought

Yes I have noticed this and I doubt the enterprise version is any different however its a small price to pay for the program using data instead of sms so in effect making it free for me to IM as much as I want.

yea i hear that there are problems with the aim program.... but i havent really tried it out that much, i jus try and live with imov messenger.... if i had the know how or the time i would make an IM client that ran off the jabber service (like imov) but make it a little more user friendly... maybe someone can decompile imov and the IM client and make something miraculous out of it... hmmm. I'll start reading.....

Taking little notes on S620

k, so we all agree that this phone does quite a lot,
but I often find myself wanting to take a few notes, just a line or 2 and I couldnt find a program in my phone that does it...
Is there some kind of notepad or sticky notes for this device on WM5?
Thanks for the help!
Install OneNote. You can install it if you have MS Office installed. Just open up OneNote on the desktop and go to its options and you will see the option to install OneNote Mobile.
Its great. It lets me attach recordings, pictures to notes, as well as jot down quick ones.
There's also PhatNotes for smartphone: http://www.phatware.com/phatnotes/index.html
It's $40, but I've heard it's not bad. I use OneNote Mobile, since I get it free with my work copy of Office 2007. OneNote 2007 costs quite a bit (over $100) to buy separately.
If you can wait for a 1 week, I will post a note application I am currently working on. It will synchronise notes from outlook using active sync. And it will be free

No, it syncs with OneNote on the Desktop.
C.
Smartphones do not have Notes built-in and all the 3rd-party solutions (such as SmartpHoneNotes) suck because they cannot sync over the air.
My solutions are:
1) Do notes online. If you have a free Yahoo account, you can use its online Notepad, not bad at all, just it does not support SSL. If you have an ASP web hosting, you can install my XinNotes:
http://www.fixup.net/download/XinNotes.zip
2) Use PocketNotepad. If your phone does not have an Internet, then the best way to do notes is the free and great PocketNotepad from Tillanosoft. You don't need to sync it with your desktop as you can open the notes files directly via ActiveSync with Windows's Notepad. As it does not use a special file format but in plain text, it saves you all the troubles of sync and your dependance to a specific software. Peace of mind from now on.
http://tillanosoft.com/
PocketNotepad is also the best and only text edit tool for you to view/edit any text files on your phone. A must. Make sure you also install the tGetFile.dll which allows you to browse/open/save in all folders (without this dll PocketNotepad can only access My Documents folder which is enough for notes function). No need to mention its full features: copy/paste, search/replace, insert date/time... everything you've dreamed and beyond.
Notes App.
For my S620 I copied HTC Quick notes app. from the S710 and it works very well. It allows you to store notes on the storage card but it does not have the aibility to sync with Outlook.
Playing a bit with my SGH-i600, I noticed that they have an app. called Notepad and the i600 ships with an add-on to sync notes on Outlook called Notepadsync. I copied it on the S620 and installed the software on my computer but Activ Sync does not recognise the app. on the smartphone whereas it would detect it on the SGH.
I guess there must be some registry hacks to do to allow it to sync on the S620.
If someone the binaries I can send them, as I have very few spare time to dig on this.
I'm been using SmartphoneNotes from Syncdata and it works great (syncs wiith Outlook also).

IE problems

So more or less I enjoyed the WP7 browser.
But than I experienced annoying limitations:
1. It doesn't support my banks online banking! Opera Mini can do it, Android browser can do it but IE can't!!
2. IE cannot open this page, what a fckn letdown:
www.kueng-blockfloeten.ch/en/index.php
I don't know if it supports your country and bank, but I use PageOnce for all my financial tracking on the phone. It's much nicer than fiddling with a mobile site.

Ok I tried to use this nice app.
It even found my bank but first asks for my ID and password what is something
I don't get because things I use to login to my bank are different.
But whichever option I use it tries to connect but than asks me idiotic questions like my first schools town. I give the correct answer but this crap says it is wrong.
So how to use it?! Looks as useless as IE in this regard
Another IE letdown:
I doesn't display my private messages on this forum!
I start to be more and more disappointed.

This is definitely a nice and entertaining commercial. Microsoft should come up with more of these.

What all does a person need to utilize this feature? Do you need to buy the overwhelmingly expensive desktop software? What is it...MS Exchange or something like that?

If you already have a windows phone, your OneNote files sync to Skydrive so you can view and edit them online via http://office.live.com. If you have Office 2010 desktop software, OneNote also syncs there.
I use it extensively to manage my college life.
Not bad. But I consider that with my web-based notebooks I can sync to all of my phones, even iOS. I use Evernote and it does the same thing as well as providing access on my other phones.

Onenote on the desktop comes with certain packages of Office 2010 (or 2007) but not with the Mac version.
BUt you don't have to download it.. just use the Office Web Apps from your Windows Live account.

What do you mean? If you have a hotmail/live account, you have Office Web apps.. you don't need to download/buy anything at all. It's like google documents but infinitely more useful and functional.
I don't see how evernote is better in anyway.. (except that it is available on android ..not sure onenote is yet..)
(as you can tell, I'm a huge fan of onenote.. the main reason I will be sticking to WP for a while)

Enjoy, mate. I use Evernote, which gives me access on all of my phones, not just my WP7. And Evernote updates faster.
Evernote syncs, but the app sucks compared to onenote.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
While Evernote isn't the best web-based notebook, it's at least easier to figure out than One Note. It took me a bit to know how to make a new note and all of the things relating to it. And One Note isn't as intuitive as the web-based variety. Catch Notes is the best web-based notebook. But there isn't a WP7 version yet, so I went with Evernote until Catch Note makes a WP7 version.
To be honest, I don't like it how OneNote HAS to sync to the cloud (unless I'm doing something wrong). Sometimes I seriously have no reception - what then? For this reason, I actually use Word for note-taking.
Evernote is better.foe organizing.notes anyways. OneNote had this forever in the iOS version..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I will give you the ONE very good reason why I use OneNote and not Evernote.
Because OneNote is built in- it's made by the same people who make the OS, meaning I'm guaranteed compatibility whatever Windows device I have, and there is much more chance of the online services being reliable going forward.
I HATE third party software on mobile devices. It is the absolute bain of my life, it's very rarely done well and 90% of it is utter crap. This is why I chose Windows Phone.
I can see why you might want something that syncs to 5 different OS's, but in reality 99% of the population are very unlikely to need, care about, or have, three mobile devices, so for them OneNote is an excellent option (and the desktop software is immensely powerful, too)
That's fine many people prefer that convenience. However I'd you need superior note taking and organization tagging etc Evernote is far ahead of one note. One note still isn't really optimized for mobile yet, but it will get there.

Looking for a password app

I got too many damn passwords at work. I would love an app that I can use to put in my passwords, that is itself password protected.
Hopefully something that can backup to dropbox or something like that.
Any ideas?

Loaded up Pocket, which seems really nice, even has a desktop client I can use. Stores the encrypted file on dropbox and can sync between the two.

I pay for Lastpass. $12 per year. I use it on all my desktops and mobile devices. I like the lastpass dolphin browser plugin and it autofills user name and password for me.
At work, IT uses keypass for all of their secret data so I have that on my phone too and and I keep the database synced up with a file syncing program.
