Short answer: No
Long Answer: The ARM chip in the Hermes is to old, it doesn't support some of the instructions needed, also there are no drivers for the chipset ect in the Hermes, so someone would need to go to a lot of trouble to write them all.
(As far as I know)

Well try this link, the ARMv5 instructions of Android have been recompiled for the ARMv4.
Let's see if the Hermes has a Pinguin future

What tools do you need?
I am guessing that an obvious one is Visual Studio 2005, but I know that this alone is not enough? Can you guys fill in the blanks?

you couldn't be more wrong
Visual studio is not required and even if you had it it wouldn't be any use at all
every method i know is based around maimach's imgfs tools, and some also on Bepe's ROMKitchen. there are also quite a few variants of these floating around with .bat files written to help automate things... Ivan's and Tuatara's are examples of this. Basically you NEED IMGFS tools and ROMKitchen is optional. personally I just use IMGFS tools with Ivan's automators, and occasionally one program from tuatara's pack as it is not in ivans (but it is buggy too )
If you want to get into ROM building the best advice i can give you is to offer to help a current ROM builder, an apprentice if you like, it's how I learnt the in's and out's (Thanks Ivan).
Hope i was some help.

So, so basically - the following tools should be enough:
1. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMkitchen
2. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5EditROM
3. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...roductID=F8AF6708-EDCB-472A-829D-F73D951C35A1
4. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6c-168b-474d-8a27-59b30b769402&DisplayLang=en
5. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...42-ca77-42f5-a076-f1fd8bbe79d4&DisplayLang=en
However, I fail to understand how you believe that Visual Studio 2005 is totally irrelevant. The following should disprove your view:
1. http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/06/12/windowsce/
2. 20 Minute Video - http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/media/tutorials/IntrodutionToPlatformBuilderWithCE6Beta_300k.wvx

what he said, it IS useless unless you have access to the highly secret BSP from HTC AND the Windows Mobile (also unavaliable) Source files. However if you have access to either of these please tell me

Sent you a PM saying that I didn't get the PM you are referring to over here. Can you mail your message to me instead - to nvatvani|at|gmail.com
And to Midget - No, I do not have the secret HTC and Windows Mobile items you are referring to ..... sorry.
Are you talking about modifying a ROM or building a new ROM by youself?
Modifying a available ROM is easy because of mamaich's IMGFS tools and hv tools.
But there's no WM6 ROMkitchen for Universal.Anyone have released it yet?
By the way,Helmi's WM6 ROM is still the best.

Well, I was talking about "Building a ROM" .... as in building it from scratch. Modifying a ROM isn't exactly, well .... helpful to the PocketPC Community at large since there are already A LOT of people who modify ROMs of other people/companies.
Since you have Heli's ROM, can you describe how the battery performance of your Universal with Helmi's WM6 is?
Hi at all
I'm italian...

I'm with you my friend!
he he.. most of our developers have switched to other forum, got newer devices & developing android for other devices...
Now you still with trinty and please BE one of our the developers... now i'm still learning about compiling/ tweaking kernel & stuff.. so will you, learn..
kinda gotta agree with u there.. my Trinity's been collecting dust on my desk ever since I got my Blackstone...
...that is until I flashed it to WM6.5 today and put it on-par with the blackstone (on OS anyway)...
I say wait for Android to get a bit more mature first on other HTC devices...it's still such a young OS, it's fast because it has practically nothing yet compared to the current gen WM OS.
Yeah, I want Android on my Trinity as well Hope some developers start working on this...we will be very grateful
I hope to try android on my trinity too. Please mention the good and bad if anyone had tried the rom especially memory after first boot. thanks.
Well, android on Artemis seems to be moving very well

It seems to be harmless to try running Wing Linux (and Android) on any OMAP850 device
http://apps.sourceforge.net/trac/wing-linux/wiki
Welcome to our project wiki. We aim to bring Linux and Google's Android operating systems to the T-Mobile Wing, HTC Herald / Atlas platforms and many other OMAP850-based devices.
Nobody tried it on Trinity?
androkkid worked well on my htc trinity
hello to everybody..i tried firmware called androkkid developed by Simosoft (windows android emulator) and it worked very well...
Androkkid is just a new Windows Mobile interface, but not the ROM
So it's irrelevant
It's much more interesting to start a real Android on HTC

hi dude!
i'm too interested for Anroid(Linux) OS!
and i tryed running this OS in HERMES device, but nothing happened .
well, in current time for our HERMES nothing .
i'm soo glad with Windows 6.5.1
Android is built for ARM5 processors and the Hermes has an ARM4 processor, so it would have to be ported first and also have drivers written for the Hermes hardware. I think the OpenMoko phone uses an ARM4 processor, so that might be a good place to start.
Who knows from where WM 6.5 OFFICIAL can be downloaded?
Official for the hermes? Nowhere. WM6 is the latest 'official', it's an older device.
no official but stock like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526236 but this is without 3g dialer
every device deserve stock like clean rom

If it will not work, how did all of the 6.5 cooked roms manage to run? The hermes just barely meets the minumum specs.
Actually it's not going to be released "officially" because it's an old device, and support is going away for it.
6.0 is the last official release for our device.
The information written above we have from HTC E-Club.
When I asked when will be the official wm6.5 Hermes.
Ahh, ok. That must be their way of saying that they aren't going to make it for the hermes lol
I've trying to follow the instructions to flash my TyTn II.. to android
Do I need to have a WM6.1 ROM before proceeding? I'm currently running 6.0.
I've searched all over the place, 6.1 is no where to be found.. the link in this thread is broken..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332246
in how-to thread for replacing Windows with Android there is step where it says that you should have HardSPL that matches your Windows ROM...
...maybe that's true, but i managed flashing my Kaiser with Hard SPL 3.25 on WinROM 6.0...no problems...and also flashed succefully radio, to version that matches my operator...also no problems...
...after that it's easy job...kernel and selected build.
so, try downloading HardSPL you want, and radio you need...flash them. I can't promise that it will work but it did job for me

No, you do not need 6.1. All you do is essentially flash the android kernel over WM. So essentially you just need hard spl and you should be fine. You flash it by going into the bootloader (multi colored screen)

Disagree. If e NEVER flashed a 6.1, he's using a very old Radio. At least a radio update should be made.
But you still don't NEED wm 6.1 to run android lol. Radio update is seperate.

True indeed. He could be running CE 0.0000001 for the matter
But you got my point If he doesn't flash a decent RADIO, tomorrow he'll be here saying that his kaiser running android is talking elvish to him and asking to fry eggs. Ah... and wifi doesn't work also, along with GPS
