2G vs 3G dialers? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

What's the difference between a 2G dialer and a 3G dialer?
Is this what is meant when a rom is released as both 2G and 3G?

they are just a skin/ theme dialers
does not mean if you install a 2g on our hermes the 3g capabilities of the phone is lost

'3g' is usually associated with a video call dialer. It's really a very misleading term and has nothing to do with the frequencies your device can operate on.

Ok whatever 3G represents but is there any difference in dialer speed when using to dial a number or when you recieve call.

None whatsoever

To put it into layman's terms the 3G has a dialer with a video calling button.
2G does not. If you do not use video calling then it is pretty much irrelevant.
Generally, get the 2g as your dialer might seem less cramped. That's it as far as how it would affect you.

Looking for 2G dialer...
Hello all there, I'm looking for some latest 2G dialer with calls list included (when you open keypad, there is a small scrollable call list - missed/received/called). I have CRC ROM with 3G dialer only. Thank you a lot.

I would suggest the current best 2G dialer is the MBArvian OpalCanvas dialer. http://mbarvian.freehostia.com/2008...de-applications-cab-and-oem-package-included/

Disable "Threaded sms"? and force to only use 3G?

Hi! i have been trying to disable the threaded sms omn my Rhodium, but without any luck at all...
here is what i tried so far:
Using "advanced config" and disable threaded sms. no result...
going to the regedit and making: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled tried values 1 and 0 both with no result at all...
am i doing something wrong here?
Could someone confirm that they have succeded in disabling threaded sms on Rhodium/TP2 ?
Also: is there a way to ONLY use 3g/hsdpa and not gprs/edge ?
becouse i have hsdpa coverage in my area, and even thoug it has weak signal it is still much much faster than gprs/edge...
on my old phone the ASUS P750 i could those between 2G and 3G and i really liked that!. But i haven't been able to find such a funktion on my TP2/Rhodium.
Tanks!

Are you talking about the original WM Messaging application or the one in TF3D?
Advanced Config is definately working on the first one but with the second one i think you'll just have to live with it.
whats the advance config? i want to disable the threaded sms in windows messenger, not fussed about the sms in manilla,
also is anyone else having issues with some text messages not sending? then having to soft reset the phone to get them to go. never had issues in the same areas with same sim on my kaiser. i also have full bars hsdpa single at some of the time when not sending

[Q] 3g video calls on desire hd

How to make 3g video calls like regular 2g calls. other than voip softwares (which uses internet to make calls) is there any app or other dialers which enables the video calling option directly from regular dialer screen. I use htc original firmware not yet rooted.

lol if you need an app then it would be through Voip as long as my knowledge is involved...maybe someone else knows if it's possible...also did you try googling? lol
Can u suggest one to make 3g calls that service provider has given
you realize there is no front camera so the video call wouldnt work very well lol. Ya you need to use something like skype. it wasn't built into any of the software because of the desire/inspire not having a face camera, the demand isnt there.
but, where as viber has an option to make 2g calls over network if user doesnt have viber installed in his handset viber will ask us can we make calls using regular dialer mode. is there any thing of that sort for 3g.

OOS 3.2.6 build.prop LTE

I just found this line inside OOS 3.2.6 build.prop:
persist.volte_enalbed_by_hw=1
Should it be "persist.volte_enabled_by_hw=1"?
LTE works fine on mine even with that typo

As it does on mine, but not sure that's relevant. The line surely relates to VOLTE, rather than LTE. As EE haven't enabled VOLTE for handsets they haven't sold themselves, I can't check whether it's working OK.
No volte
No VolTe for me. I can confirm.

VOLTE is not LTE
It's a voice function which run over LTE networks, with VOLTE you can have simultaneous call and data activity. Your download wont cut off when the call coming in
also better voice transfer bandwith for clearer voice,
and ability to swap to video call directly from dialer, if your carrier support it

I was having a blonde moment did not read the build prop properly.
VoLTE (india)
VoLTE
I have a feeling that this will fix RJio's frequent "No Service" issue. I changed it to the correct spelling, it is good till now (4 hours).
Lets see if this fixes the issue.

Question Signal bar changes to zero if i do a emergency call?

Hi, i am using SM-A325FZKGEUC and i live in switzerland. You can't call an emergency if you don't have sim here. so as you can see i can't call. But the strange thing is that signal nar suddenly changes to very low. The phone is receiving UMTS in default so normally the signal bar shoudn't change if you call in UMTS. Does anybody have an idea?
