Disable "Threaded sms"? and force to only use 3G? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi! i have been trying to disable the threaded sms omn my Rhodium, but without any luck at all...
here is what i tried so far:
Using "advanced config" and disable threaded sms. no result...
going to the regedit and making: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled tried values 1 and 0 both with no result at all...
am i doing something wrong here?
Could someone confirm that they have succeded in disabling threaded sms on Rhodium/TP2 ?
Also: is there a way to ONLY use 3g/hsdpa and not gprs/edge ?
becouse i have hsdpa coverage in my area, and even thoug it has weak signal it is still much much faster than gprs/edge...
on my old phone the ASUS P750 i could those between 2G and 3G and i really liked that!. But i haven't been able to find such a funktion on my TP2/Rhodium.
Tanks!
Peter

Are you talking about the original WM Messaging application or the one in TF3D?
Advanced Config is definately working on the first one but with the second one i think you'll just have to live with it.

whats the advance config? i want to disable the threaded sms in windows messenger, not fussed about the sms in manilla,
also is anyone else having issues with some text messages not sending? then having to soft reset the phone to get them to go. never had issues in the same areas with same sim on my kaiser. i also have full bars hsdpa single at some of the time when not sending

How to Turn OFF 3G & only have Edge?

Whenever I travel abroad and turn off my connection, my battery lasts for 48 hours without any problems vs 8 in the UK.
I use push e-mail, so I really do not need the 3G speed, they just drop in fine.
I googled all over the web I've not been able to find a auto turn off program yet?
I am on ROM Black Magic
Thx
I use Bandswitch on both my 8525s..
do a search and you will find the file.

Hi,
"Schaps 12 buttons with 3G band switch button" Works fine for most ppls.
Before you can install it you should study his thread a little bit, you may need too kill a certain registry string berfore.

pronor
this wil do the trick
Even better, you can do this without third party tools.
Just go to your phone options.
Select the tab "band" and switch the network type from "auto" to "gsm".
Did this help you?

make sure you kill your data connection before hitting ok to make the change..
That's exactly what I do. Start-Settings-Phone-Band-GSM.
what do you gain with just edge vs 3g?

My reason ist to save battery consumption
edge vs 3G
The main reasone i upgraded from the 8125 to the 8525 is so that while my phone was getting push updates from my exchange server callers would goto my voicemail without any warning. This is a problem with Edge voice or data not both...
OK, Scnapps does work w/ BlackMagic Roms
So I'll use the manual switch, it sounds fine
Thanks for the help, this 3G has been a total waste of time for me.
the only issue, I think all my GSM types have 3G:
GSM (900+1800) +UMTS2100
OR
GSM (1900+850)+ UMTS (1900+850)
OR
gsm (900+1800) +UMTS850
OR
GSM gsm (900+1800) +UMTS850+2100
Nothing without UMTS?

Not possible to switch bands by shortcut on Samsung i780 (wm6)

I would like to be able to easily switch from 3G to GSM on my i780. The problem is that no applicaation that I tried including various versions of CommManagers, phoneAlarm etc. is capable to make the switch. The only way is to go to the Phone settings menu and do it manualy which is really a pain. Anyone knows an easy way to switch bands? Maybe a shortcut? Thanks.

You need to switch off any live packet (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA) Active connection first.
When you go to start -> settings -> connections you can click on HSDPA. Here you switch from HSDPA to GSM.
Good Luck

Cannot select manual network?

Hi,
I've purchased an unlocked TP2 from Clove and it seems to be working well, except for one irritating problem. I cannot select a network operator manually. I have the tab available but everytime I click on it, it gives me a 'device.exe' error.
I have been experiencing a lot of missed calls and my network operator suggested that I change the automatic settings to manual. This obviously did not happen and my callers continue to get a 'customer not reachable message'.
I tried calling HTC (India) and they had no idea on how to resolve this issue, partly because the TP2 hasn't been released here as yet.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
had the same missed calling problem, but it lies on the EDGE network where i always ON, change it to 3G and problem is gone. however, battery life decreased significantly
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the 3G selection tab. I wonder if it's because the one I have is a Euro version? Will dig in deeper.
Thanks

Look under start\settings\phone\band change it to only use GSM and it will stop switching between bands, however data will be much slower on GSM than UMTS.
Cheers,
Beasty
Still no luck. Will keep on pegging at this.

What kind of TP2 do you have? The GSM versions (i.e., non-Verizon/Sprint) support simultaneous voice and data while on 3G.
This functionality gets broken if you set the data connections to time out. The default registry setting is to leave data connections open, and this is usually viewed as a battery killer, so some opt to set an auto-disconnect after X secs or mins.
\HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume and CacheTime are the registry entries that should be left at default in order to do what you're wanting. And like MCbrian stated, you have to be on the 3G network for this to work (no "E" or "G" on GSM phones).
My phone is singapore SEA version, but using it in USA. its an unlocked version with unbranded.

LG G8 Problem with MMS

Hi - Never done this before, but I am having problems with MMS using my G8 (LM-G820UM) and hoping someone out there might be able to help. You will have my eternal gratitude. At this point, I would even consider rooting if you think that would help.
The current issue: I mistakenly bought a US/Sprint phone and am in Canada. It appears that cross-flashing on a G8 is verboten, so that's not an option (please correct me if I am wrong - the threads I have read seem to be several months old). Everything seems to work properly, no problem with voice, Internet, and SMS... but I cannot send or receive MMS. My APN appears fine... though I cannot edit it. But here is what makes me scratch my head:
Available network modes are Automatic (what I use), LTE/CDMA, CDMA, GSM/UMTS. If I switch to LTE/CDMA then MMS works fine, but SMS and voice disappear.
So... the solution I've come up with, which *sucks*, is to swap network modes whenever I want to send or receive MMS... which isn't very often, but does come up once a week or so.
I have tried changing to each of the "Preferred Network Type" options within ##4636##, but none of these worked for both SMS and MMS at the same time.
Reading the forums, I found a solution involving ##3282# and performing a "reset"... which appeared promising... but there does not appear to be an edit or reset option when I enter the menu.
Thank you!!
And also... live and learn... one more thing to check/test when I buy a used phone...
You can use google messages it works perfect mms i have a sprint g8 also on movistar carrier from mexico.and i use google messages for the same reason.

I've had the exact same problem, and the reset option within the ##3282# menu is definitely the solution. You have to go to apn settings, view, 3 buttons at top right, and reset. If you had the right sim in of course, mms should now work

You are a lifesaver! Yes, that was what I was missing - now everything appears to be working as expected. I believe it was your post in another thread that started me down this path as well, thank you for bringing it full-circle.
