How to make 3g video calls like regular 2g calls. other than voip softwares (which uses internet to make calls) is there any app or other dialers which enables the video calling option directly from regular dialer screen. I use htc original firmware not yet rooted.

lol if you need an app then it would be through Voip as long as my knowledge is involved...maybe someone else knows if it's possible...also did you try googling? lol
Can u suggest one to make 3g calls that service provider has given
you realize there is no front camera so the video call wouldnt work very well lol. Ya you need to use something like skype. it wasn't built into any of the software because of the desire/inspire not having a face camera, the demand isnt there.
but, where as viber has an option to make 2g calls over network if user doesnt have viber installed in his handset viber will ask us can we make calls using regular dialer mode. is there any thing of that sort for 3g.

I have read all over the internet it just takes a modification to the ROM for the 8525 to enable video sharing on atts network. Me and my wife have two 8525s. First step to making it work is you have to add the plan to your account which is 9.99 a month for each phone for 60 mins of video calls. Once you do that att will provision your phone to make video calls. Called HTC and they said its unsupported for the 8525 because it has no front camera. But they did tell me that hacking the ROM would enable it. Where am i missing this i have the video dial button but still does not work. It tells me failed to make video call. HAS anyone successfully made a video sharing call on the 8525?
Be aware of what you wish...
Old thread, but anywayz
Looks like what you have to do is:
Install one of the WM6 or WM6.1 ROMS.
Enable video call with your operator.
Buy and install the front cameras on your phones (as 8525 doesn't have front camera and the rear camera doesn't work for video call)
I did all of the above, and I can make video calls by now.
The "try again error" when you start a video call, in my experience shows up when:
One of the parties involved in the call dont have video call enabled by the operator.
The phone is not in 3G mode. Use the commcenter and make sure you have the 3G icon at the side of the start button (not E, for edge).
Do people in Canada have that option? I mean, whenever I goto my CM 6.1 wifi calling app, its a t-mobile one and it wont work. I really dont know much about it except that Fido charges an add-on for using it. Isn't wifi calling supposed to be free? Can someone explain what It really means and how I can take advantage of it?
I don't know too much about it, except I presume there must be some sort of support from your carrier on it - e.g. when your phone is trying to make a call via wifi, then somehow the call needs to go from the Internet into your carrier's phone systems.
I know Fido doesn't have wifi calling (at least for free).
Why not get skype. I pay 2.99 a month for UNLIMITED wifi (and 3G) calling to landlines and mobiles in North America. I reduced my phone voice plan but bumped my data to take advantage of this. The only crappy thing is we can't get an incoming number because the CRTC blocked this in Canada for obvious reasons.
But you can use it for all your outgoing calls and you can also set the outgoing caller ID as your cell number so people will know it is you when you call.
does anybody know package name of wifi calling? I'd like to uninstall it, but can't find package name.
I've only found apk name (ms-htcvision-knt20-02.apk)
Download free aps Root System Free, run as root, run Terminal and write:
cd System
cd App
rm ms-htcvision-knt20-02.apk
Reboot system and wifi calling is gone.

You'd have to be in the US and using a T-mobile SIM/Number in order to take advantage of it. Its a T-mobile app to run on the T-mo network.
Hello can anyone please share your experience specifically on the calling and the texting features ?
Maybe even make a video? No one seem to talk about this at all?

Wow no one here have courage? To try this? Lol
C'mon guys pop that SIM card in there and share the experience!!!!!!!!!!
I would like no know this too as I just got the 4G LTE and text messaging works flawlessly, except phone calls as it gives me busy signal on all calls that are made. Don't know what's wrong. The sim card is activated and everything works as it should. Except phone calls..

There's really not a lot to talk about. The SM-P601/5 are just giant phones. Anything a N3 can do, they can do. Dialers and MMS/SMS are pretty much the same on every phone and the SM-P601/5 are no exception.
Here's a screen shot...
P.S. - In order to use the voice and messaging features the SM-P601/5 have to be provisioned by your carrier as "phones." Tablet-specific data plans don't support calls or MMS even though the device is capable.
I was waiting for a response and didn't get anyone to chime in so I finally got my note 10.1 p605 so here goes yes you need to get a sim with voice and data plan it will work. I'm currently using it as my phone at the moment and it rocks!
I have the SM-P605 4G LTE and I couldn't figure out how to make phone calls on this device. Can you help?

Is your SM-P605 from a carrier or Samsung? The U.S. carriers and possibly some others disable voice and MMS and always have in the tablets they offer. If you don't see the Dialer and Messaging apps when you look in the app drawer I'm guessing they've been disabled in whatever version of SM-P605 you have. If you see them and can't use them that means the SIM you're using probably doesn't support voice and MMS. They're either there out-of-the-box or they aren't. If they aren't there's not a lot you can do about it.
BarryH,
I got mine from the Verizon store. I downloaded a Dialer app from Google Play and tried to make a call, but still no go. The app brought up a Dialer, but when I punch in a telephone number, and press Send, it just beeps and does nothing. The Sim card was from my 4G LTE phone. I swapped it over.
I was, however, able to make calls using Google Voice & Groove IP. But man, I would just love to be able to make calls just like a phone.

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.
Has anyone been able to use HD calling & native phone dialer video calling? I have both features turned on through the verizon website/app & also on settings/networks & also on the phone dialer settings but I don't see it when I make calls.

I've had the hd voice calling activate on its own when I call a friend with an S6 on Verizon. There were no prompts but my dialer showed "HD" during the call and the audio was much improved.

I think the "much improved" is very subjective. The person on the other end sounds unnatural to me... Maybe its the years of ****ty audio quality that Verizon has forced on me.... But I'm not a fan. Besides it is fairly worthless as the other party has to be a compatible verizon phone. Most of my calls, other than my wife, are on other networks or land lines, where the HD does not come into play...

HD calling works for me (Shows the HD icon when Codec is AMR-WB). However video calling does not. If I force Video calling provisioning. It turns off after reboot. Works on my buddies Pixel XL however...
I'm on Verizon also and HD calling works for me. I haven't tried video calling but it shows up for some contacts.

I'm in the same boat. All settings and provisioning activated, but don't see the "HD" icon on calls, or anything related to video calling.
Let me know if you figure anything out.

Both work for me. Video calling icon comes up when on call and hd voice icon as well.
I haven't been able to test HD Voice, but I'm finally seeing options for video calls in the dialer.
*I think* this is what fixed it:
-Dial *#*#4636#*#*
-Select Phone Info
-Make sure provision boxes are checked for VOLTE, Video and Wi-Fi Calling
-Reboot, just to be safe
-Go to Wireless & networks settings and select Network settings reset
-Turn off Advanced Calling and turn it back on
-Reboot

When people with Verizon call me, I get HD Voice but when I call them, it's standard quality. Wtf Verizon/Google...

Video calling and HD work for me. I have the Google version, not the Verizon one. It's nice to be able to switch during a call but the quality is often bad even with a good connection. Google Duo seems to work better and works with iPhones and all Android phones.

Dangit!
I thought I was all good, but I have the same thing. Incoming calls are HD, outgoing are not. Or if they are, there's no icon indicating it.
Still can't get Wi-Fi calling to activate, also.

I'm on Google's support chat right now regarding the HD voice with outgoing calls issue on Verizon. I'll post what I find.
Edit: they kept trying to tell me it was Verizon's fault. They said I either didn't have HD voice enabled on my account or I had a service issue both of which are wrong. I've triple checked my account and it wouldn't work when someone called me if it weren't enabled. Also, it doesn't matter where I am, the issue always behaves the same. Outbound calls give no HD voice but inbound do.

HD outgoing and video works for me. Gs pixel on 7.1.1 but it worked on 7.1 too. Works on both wifi and LTE. Wifi calling is switchable also.
I'd say get a new sim card. Sometimes vzw tech can reprovision the card properly. Sometimes it's easier to just get a new one. I've had weird stuff happen where only one side of the conversation can hear the other and only a new card would fix it.

Thanks. Good to know there are some Pixels on Verizon out there without issues.
I'll try the new sim. Mine is at least three years old--maybe four!

Can anyone explain why when I try to Facebook call, video, etc data drops instantly? It happens every time. I have unlocked Google PIXEL xl.
