If you have set up your network connection via Connection Setup then it will use GPRS or EDGE or what i do is turn off the auto update and update via Wi-Fi.

generally if you want to use a service such as the data service that provides you internet, you need to pay. duh
using the phones wifi on the other hand, is free.
Haha this dude should be pancaked lol...
centennial huh ? , blue nation pda connections ( edge / gprs ) have two flavors .
$24.99 for 20 meg a month , and $39.99 for 250 meg.
@ this time they only offer an unlimited data plan for the blackberry .
however , i have been told that they have no way of tracking usage .
when you sign up they give you a username and password to access the settings page on their website which guides you through the setup.
and NO i cannot give you the u/n & p/w . sorry

if your phone has the ability to track and log usage, what makes you think the provider cant? thats like saying a gas station has no way of tracking how much gas you pumped.
Ha Ha welcome to the club Travisc.
Unless you can be like me and figure out a way to get free EDGE from your provider, ur gonna have to spend your money like everyone else. Now i know ur all wondering how thats possible, but i used my provider's blackberry APN, UN and PW as a connection and viola. Bare in mind that u have to have someone on the inside to help you. We all know alot of ppl viewing these threads, soem might even be from my network(laugh), so PM me if u have any questions. Remember dude its this or $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

this info comes from ( a reliable source ) . dont see what he has to gain by disinformation .
he also stated that he has yet to see anyone have to pay for overages , and knows several people that are surfing excessivley .
it is odd that even on my itemized billing , that there is no data usage figure nor is it available online when i log into my account .
im not saying it's impossible or will not be implemented soon, just that they currently are not keeping track .

all im saying is you are assuming "they have NO way to track it". thats silly. they provide it. how on earth could you think they CAN'T track what they provide? using free software you can monitor edge data, your home connections data, my data, stylez data (totally all porn..email for the data logs).......thats all im saying...whether they charge you for it or not, im sure you are telling the truth. but when its something untested and something "a good friend told me", dont go telling people to do it...what happens when this poor kid does it and gets a data bill for $600? you gonna help pay cause your advice was hearsay and ill informed, in turn ****ing this kid? im gonna guess "no".

I 2nd that, Man I've had to wait like 5 times in a row for a download, because I couldn't get the kitten encryption answer correctly, I mean can you guys ALWAYS tell what the hell is behind each letter/number?!?
Thats why i uploaded most ROMS that i can find to MediaFire.

go to search on the top button and type in OZ Messenger and you'll get the thread you're looking for. You def. need a data plan though.

They won't let you out of a contract that easily. They make too much off of you. But they might work harder at approving an across-the-board usage cap for everybody and/or throttle our connections. And we'll have fools like you to thank. Maybe you should just learn to manage your finances if you signed a contract you couldn't afford just to get a new phone. Or do you just not like the phone or Sprint?

A guy mentioned he had done over 100 gigs with 3G...so good luck. Also I can't remember if it was Sprint but someone just recently changed their contract and people were mentioning it would be a way out...you might look into that. Or find someone to buy your phone and take over your contract...they're still hard to find.

Ok, so my wife claims to have installed ClubMz's Extreme Cell Phone Spy Gear 2010 Platinum on her laptop and cell. She claims to have been watching me for the last 5 months. I know I havent done anything wrong but find this creepy. I'd rather save the fight and not get upset or call her a crazy %$^ch. Is this legit? And how can I block her from spying on me? lol
looking at their website i would say it's not going to be very reliable software.
i've always found that if they need flashy graphics and they SCREAM at you what they do, it's probably crap.
here's a better question. if your wife is saying she has it on her laptop...why not look at her laptop and see what it does/doesn't do?
Use your own laptop and phone?
EDIT: So wait, how does this even work? Do both devices need Bluetooth enabled to get the data or what? And it doesn't look like you put it on your computer, so I'm not sure what she means by that. Looks to me like you'll have to have Bluetooth enabled on your phone and be close enough to hers for it to get the data. I wonder if just turning it off on your end will hinder her efforts.

I think you're right. It may only install on the laptop then you transfer it somehow to your phone. From what I read, it does require bt. But mine is always off. Did it only require bt to be enabled to install some hidden spyware on my phone? Maybe she turned bt on my phone while I was sleeping to get what she needed? I have no clue.

Wow. This app extremely blurs the line between overprotectiveness and outright 24/7 monitoring.
But won't they notice when they stop receiving the logs of everything you do? I mean, even antivirus programs will notify you once the online service detects that you haven't used the app in several days and such. I'm fairly sure this app would have some sort of safeguard like that.

I was thinking the same thing with regards to both parts of this post. However, I hope this brat teenager does flash this "fix" and get in trouble. If he thinks he is so wise to the ways of the world and is so capable of taking care of himself, he can feel free to move out/get kicked out and then:
Pay rent/mortgage
Pay utilities/electric/water/etc.
Pay for groceries
Pay for car/insurance
Pay for TV/internet/etc.
Cook/clean/do laundry for himself
And oh yeah, presumably attend high school every day.
What an ungrateful little punk. He needs to understand that parents have the best interests of their kids at heart, and parents have already gone through teenage life themselves.

Not sure how it's illegal as it's an unlimited data plan. As far as carriers monitoring usage to effectively kill an unlimited plan they profited from by advertising it is probably actually "illegal" or misleading advertising. I really think these carriers should be pressured to change the wording of their "unlimited" plans through the CFPB or whatever they are calling themselves these days. Unlikely nthis will happen due to the current political atmosphere.

how is it misleading? it is in their TOS when you sign up for whatever plan. I know that if I use over 50GB on tmobile i can be throttled, i still can use data even if it is slower, so therefore it is still unlimited. Their plans are't titled UNLIMITED HIGH SPEED DATA. It's not illegal but does violate the TOS agreement from the carrier. At the same time hiding a tethered connection is futile. It's simply impossible to hide as carriers have at least half a dozen different ways of detecting it.

This is not unlimited. Carriers are spinning the meaning of the word. We saw this before the prior net neutrality laws were passed several years ago. Unlimited to start, then so slow you think the website is down, or it just times out all together.
I do agree with others that the carriers will know if you are tethering or not regardless. The real question is if you root and unlock native tethering, will they force a "tethering fee" assuming you didn't have such fee when you signed your contract.
Don't make analogies. They're never 100% equivalent to what you're trying to compare it to.
Throttling ≠ data cut off. It sucks but it's still unlimited data.

@EeZeEpEe: The guy is trolling, and the facts you have provided he will ignore as they don't fit his narrative. The main reason I haven't replied to him is because he is being intellectually dishonest. He knows full well that the carriers aren't abusing the definition of unlimited like they did in 2010.

I don't see above where anyone provided facts to back up their argument. Since u mad, (The main reason I haven't replied to him is because he is being intellectually dishonest), here is clear evidence of abuse. I would also argue that this is the worst case of throttling ever and the next closest is the AT&T/FaceTime fiasco. All under the guise of various tiers of 'unlimited' data. Check out the wehe app. It helped with studies on this exact topic, including Senate oversight committee sending questions to the major carriers.
@cedargreen: Mad? That would mean I had feelings on the topic. The reality is I just call it as I see it. Your first post in this thread is nothing but a strawman argument, thus you are being intellectually dishonest. Now, you clearly must be bored if you have to respond to a post that as of this writing is four months old. I don't go out of my way to feed trolls, so we're done here.
