I have been having some issues with my keypad, whenever i press CAP to change case i have to wait like 3 seconds before it actually changes. Also half the time i press it just once like normal it stays in caps lock? These problems happen with xt9 or abc mode... this i really slowing down my typing, thanks to anyone who ha a suggestion.
also isn't xt9 supposed to capitalize names, i, and the first word in a sentence? mine doesn't and i have had plenty of t9 phones that did?

The clearance between the buttons and the screen slide is very tight. Any variation in the key's fit/finish/installation or just being defective could cause it.
The keyboard is a "touch membrane" type, typically found in cheaper keyboards (or in this case - low profile). Each key has a retainer to prevent it from popping off. It's possible that this retainer has been "stretched" or damaged, allowing the key to remain in a higher postition relative to the other keys.
No real solution unless you want to try and remove the keyboard and figure out what's different. However, more than likely something else will be damaged from trying, and may not be worth the trouble.
i understand the cause of problem, thanks for your explanation, but this becomes a couple weeks ago, when y bougth my tytn this problem wasnt here. why is now touchin the "y" the screen?
thanks
Is there any way to turn off the predictive text thing?
It is mad annoying and always puts words I dont want.
Also, some of the symbols are mixed up. For example, when I hold down the M key trying to type a !, it puts =, and i have to press Q which should be %.
Anyone else have these problems?

you have two different problems
1) hit alt and space.. and just turn off the predictive
2) download the new eT9 from my signature and copy to your phone and install the cab and that will fix your keyboard
Thanks!
Both of those worked and I also hit up your Vista steez start button.
Looks good!
when I enter words in non-XT9 mode, I have to wait some time when entering letters on the same key. The cursor just takes 1 full second to jump forward, otherwise I would alter the already typed letter. Its annoying.
I take it you want to lower the waiting time when holding down a button until the alternatives pop up. It is a bit difficult to understand though.
I personally prefer the htc ime mod keyboard found on this forum, which have several very useful modification options. You also have the ability to set the delay you are talking about

f.e. I use the phone keyboard with 3 letters on one field. Now typing "abc" i have to wait 1 sec. after the "a"until the cursor moves on. If sooner, the letter gets still modified.
The detection that I am done with one letter is just too slow
I think he is referring to the phone keypad or compact qwerty keyboard.
If you want to type ace on the keypad you have press 2 once, wait 1 second, press 2 three times, and then 3 two times.
The "wait one second" part is the problem, and if you don't wait you would end up with à or something, because it wouldn't recognise the c as the new letter.
How to help this? I only know you can move to the right(with the trackball) but that isn't much faster.

ahh i see. Just tried those keyboards for the first time never been needing them. But that is probarbly not as easy to fix.
This is a minor annoyance which plagues me now and again.
On a fairly regular basis, I manage to hit a key combination that deletes the whole line I've just typed. It must be SHIFT + something, or FN + something, cos I recall it happens when I'm trying to enter a special character I think.
Can someone tell me what the key combination is that I'm hitting when I don't need it, and more importantly, can I disable it? I NEVER need to delete a whole line, and I want this annoyance gone!
Any help appreciated!
This just happened to me tonight while emailing... it seems to be the combination of ALT and DELETE. I don't know how to disable it (I doubt you can), but knowing what keys you're hitting by mistake might help.
It's been that way ever since the G1. I hate it sometimes, especially after a long sentence and you didn't realize that it happened.
I've never found a way to stop it.
I would love for a way to disable this as well. Really annoying and I still make the mistake every now again.

If you change your keyboard you can get rid of that option I use ultra keyboard. It is a payed app, but well worth it.
I use the samsung virtual keyboard and i turned off all the predictive text and autocorrect because they annoy me. sometimes when i use spacebar, the phone vibrates but does not put a space in what i am typing, i have to press it again to put a space down. i cant figure out why this is happening and also dont know when it happens.
anyone know of this problem?
