This is a minor annoyance which plagues me now and again.
On a fairly regular basis, I manage to hit a key combination that deletes the whole line I've just typed. It must be SHIFT + something, or FN + something, cos I recall it happens when I'm trying to enter a special character I think.
Can someone tell me what the key combination is that I'm hitting when I don't need it, and more importantly, can I disable it? I NEVER need to delete a whole line, and I want this annoyance gone!
Any help appreciated!
This just happened to me tonight while emailing... it seems to be the combination of ALT and DELETE. I don't know how to disable it (I doubt you can), but knowing what keys you're hitting by mistake might help.
It's been that way ever since the G1. I hate it sometimes, especially after a long sentence and you didn't realize that it happened.
I've never found a way to stop it.
I would love for a way to disable this as well. Really annoying and I still make the mistake every now again.

If you change your keyboard you can get rid of that option I use ultra keyboard. It is a payed app, but well worth it.

Hi,
I've been looking for an application that would enable you to select which buttons should be locked when the device is off. Right now, the only options are "none" or "all but the power button".
I'd like to lock all the hardware buttons except the "record" key (which I have mapped to MS Voice Command). That one isn't easily pressed by accident, so it wouldn't turn my device on all the time and waste battery life, and I'd be able to start MS VC without pressing the power button first.
Any ideas?
Don't want to be pushy but... *bump*!
Anyone heard of an application that does this? Or any developers interested in making one? I'm thinking... Vijay?
I think it could possibly be done, using a low level keyboard driver hack, but I'm thinking it'd be a little bit messy to program right now, I've got a few other things to finish first.
I'll try to test some ideas, but can't promise to release anything very soon

Hey, thanks for your reply! You don't have to promise anything... I was just trying to inspire you. But you have to admit it would be a useful app!
The keyboard on my TP2 (Verizon) intermittently stops working (no key press registers, however the buttons on the face of the phone still do). After soft reset it works again. This is with different ROMs. I'm thinking, perhaps, there is a loose connection internally. It also has odd crashes, but this might only be a ROM problem as it is much less pronounced with the latest ROM I'm using (Elite team ROM).
Diagnosis? I'm reluctant to send it into Verizon for just this, as its only occasional. Wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing
I'm having this same exact issue. I'm using the latest ROM from HTC. Sometimes when I open the keyboard in an app, like texting or email, the keyboard is genreally non-responsive. When it's in this state, the enter key goes to windows Apps but all other keys failed to work. I also test by pushing the FN to see if the FN light tunrs on.
What's strange with mine is the keyboard will work when it's open like for phone use, but when open with an app like text/email/bing, it doesn't...
Like previous poster, not sure if hardware ro what...
This may not have anything to do with your problem, but..
I have the PTT button on my tilt2. I have a case that wasn't designed to encompass that button, so it gets covered up (I had a find time finding a case that did actually fit!)
I have the PTT button assigned to do nothing, but with it being pressed down, it makes my keyboard non-responsive as well as disabling the arrows keys on my touchscreen. It will however work for a while after restarting my phone, but it always goes back to the same thing.

Thank you very much for posting this. I do have the same exact setup, I have the PTT button unassigned and I too have a cover that covers it. So maybe it's pressing it down causing the problem.
I hope this is it and really appreciate your post...
UPDATE:
Sweet, I just checked things out. removed the cover and it would the keyboard doesn't go non-responsive when I push the PPT button, and works when I don't...
By George, I think you got it!!!!
GREAT!!!!
Well I had an incident with my phone last weekend and now my physical keyboard doesn't work properly. None of the keys really work and the G key is stuck at times and even when phone is is closed will type GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Is there any way to disable the physical keyboard, basically start using this it like a Pure.
Would like to do this with software rather than opening up phone
bumping once for last ditch effort before taking this thing apart
hmmm, ill take a look at the registry later, you may just be able to take off the keyboard driver, ill check back in a few hours
<_<, well i guess im back already lol.
1. open a registry editing program
2. go to HKLM < HARDWARE < DEVICEMAP < KEYBD.
3. There should be a key named "DriverName".
4. Change its value from "KpdNopAll.dll" to 0, or anything you want, just as long as its not pointing to another driver i guess. then you may have to hard reset the phone because mine froze when I did it.
5. let me know how it worked!
\\ The phone still registers some keys like the arrow keys and the FN key, but none of the letters work
Thanks.. I'll try it and see if it helps
your welcome
I have a verizon htc xv6800. I was using my phone and the keyboard got wet and now my phones keyboard doesn't work in some areas. it keeps getting stuck in the down and up direction keys even if my phone is closed. is there a way of fixing that?
Okay so recently I scored my G2. Had it about 2 weeks and then I rooted. I have my long hold search key set to quickdesk. It works perfectly while my physical keyboard is closed and slid in using the touch search button(the last one along the four touch keys at the bottom of the phone near the trackpad). One day I wanted to try holding the search key on my physical keyboard to see if it would pop up still. It didn't pop op. I then tried to do the long hold search key on the touch search button while the keyboard was still open and it didn't work either. I even hard resetted my phone to see if I could return the option to have long hold search work whether my physical keyboard is opened or closed. I don't even remember if it ever worked like that in the first place. I was wondering if anyone other G2 owners out there have this feature. The feature being to use your long hold search key option when the physical keyboard of the phone is slid out. Thank you for reading. I apologize for the length but I wanted to be detailed in hopes that someone could try it out themselves.
umm that was pretty confusing but I'll post my results...
I'm running stock G2 rooted.
Keyboard out = nothing.
Keyboard in = speak now voice search thing that I never use.
I've noticed ever since I rooted that my swype no longer works.
Never used it either so I really don't care for it
Hmmm, still confusing? I tried my best to explain. I think the biggest part was differentiating between the touch search button and the one on the physical keyboard. Nd yeah, I think it might have had something to do with my root because I'm almost positive it worked before. Its not that big of a deal I guess but if I could have the feature back, I do have a few uses for it.
tried physical and touch key when slid out.
Only opens up the voice thing with touch key when closed cuz I can't really try the physical when it's closed XD
Cool, thanks for replying back so fast. Hopefully someone replies that isn't rooted already, which would suck for them of course ; ), but I just want to know if my root process caused me to lose this feature
on my tp2 i have the energy rom installed and set keyboardconfig to set the send key when held to go to a task manager the vol keys to scroll and hold to change volume but the send key just stopped working. it feels like im chacing problems round in circles with this phone where its one thing after another. i have advance config to have most things set to "recommended" re performance bu re the send key i disabled the kbdconfig and set "buttons" as none so theres no chance of a conflict but it just wont work. the best i got was sitting it for 5 mins without the battery in one time and it worked on a restart for a while. is there anything i have set wrong that im just not seeing?
im not getting to the bottom of this in fact the problem is worsening. menu and back key no longer do what theyre supposed to and they dont register in kbdconfig either. only the hangup button functions. i have tried memmaid in case it picked up a bad registry entry or something but nothing. Please help someone i am at a loss as to what else to try.
