I Have screwed my MDA!

I bought a MDA2 off ebay and it said in the ad it had WM2005 on it, i figured it was a typo so i went ahead and bought it. ANyway i got the MDA and it has WM2005! The main reason i bought it was to run tomtom navigator 5, now i managed to install it but the backlight refuses to work. I just want to know where i can download the original rom from as i dont want WM2005 because its not designed for the phone....
Tried to be clever and i downloaded a rom from the o2 website and tried to reflash the phone with that rom, it came up with some error message and it totally crapped out my mda. My mda is now on a dark screen that says serial v1.02 and when i put it in the cradle it changes to USB v1.02. Tried running different roms but its not accepting any. Activesync is not picking the device up anymore...
can anyone help?

OK so you want an official rom?
1) What is the HTC anme for an MDA2?
2) What carrier are you currently on?

i dont mind what rom it is...as long as it works. Carrier? I am on the o2 network if that helps. HTC anme? I have no idea what that means. If you could tell me how i can get this info for you i will

Well its a T-Mobile MDA (what it says on the device itself but i beleive its the same as an XDA2). I am in England and i am on the o2 network.

I dont mind at all, anything that makes it work.

ok, try hard resetting your phone, it should boot back into WM5, you will then need to download a wm2003 rom (check the WIKI for options and choose one) and install that (again the wiki should hold all the information you need)
( i didnt tell you this in the first place because i was looking to find an official o2 uk rom, however you need to give them your imei, and o2 phone number to do that, somthing i dont have )

Ok firstly, hard reset (holding power whilst placing stylus in reset hole) is the first thing i tried, its not having non of it. Just shows USB v1.02. I was able to download the rom from the o2 website by giving my IMEI of this tmobile phone (how? i dont know). There was an error durin the installation which caused my mda to crap out. Its not going past that screen at all.

during the install? as in while it was actually copying the rom?

k, this hapened to me earlier todday as it happens (i was testing ivans new rom)
the reason it was caused is that the operator ID is set wrong, to fix this follow these instructions:
go to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp" and delete everything there.
run the origional o2 upgrade DONT PRESS NEXT OR ANYTHING, JUST START IT.
go back to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp"
there should be a new folder created, copy this to a tempory location.
extract the contents of this attached zip file into that copied directory.
double click on setoperator.bat
run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe in that folder to put your phone back to the wm2003 os.
if this doesn't work then i'm stumped, sorry

when i run the o2 upgrade it just shows a plf183.tmp file, no folders... ill try afew more things

after the upgrading with different type of mobile Rom , the mobile was unable to turn on . i just see the black screen without anything .. i try to restart it but still black screen .. when i try to connect it via USB my Windows wouldn't recognize the mobile ..

have you tried to boot into bootloader mode and reflash an o2 rom from there?
(can be found on the ftp )

what do you mean by bootloader mode , if you mean to press the two butoons to format the phone and install new one , then yes i tried it many times but nothings comes in the screen just black screen and sometime i have seen a version number like v1.0 ..
do you have the original ROM from the o2 via ftp ? post it please ..

You should take a kook at the wiki. There's a link at the top of the page.
Bootloader mode is accessed by pressing backlight, power and reset and there is no backlight, so take a close look...

EvilJogga i did that many times but nothings change just black screen with above USB written and bellow v2.10 .. just like this ..

that is bootloader mode..
means you can reflash etc.

did you CID unlock your device?
if so then i suggest installing ranjus v7.4 or similar if not get the original o2 rom from the ftp and extract it, in there it will have the application to run
it wont try to flash unless it can recognise the device so have a play around
i had to replace all the original flashing utilities with the "unsafe" MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
as mine kept failing with the other :S
however i got your problem once, edited ranjus to include that utility and run it.
if that made sense?

and they are not currently on xda-devs ftp (my mistake)

you may need to download the launch rom then the update

let me know how it goes

i installed the original ROM , when I finish the ROM processer said i have to disconnect from usb then open it ... I have been try it many times I got a message on my mobile with white screen and black written said "
press 0 to restore
factory default
press x to exit "
When I press 0 or x it comes screen with different color such as red, black and green. I have been waiting up to 30 mints put nothing change.
I tried it many times with different preening from 0 to x but still the same.
I thought I have to install the upgrade when i connect to the pc it didn't recognize the mobile.
I am sorry to bothering you guys.

what utility did you use to boot?
and leave the screen open whilst booting (it shows a percentage on the screen )
and press 0 when it prompts that

Hi kingsizeriz , i used the O2 Xda Exec Launch ROM v113139 ROM.
I did as you said, but i didn't see the percentage on my screen. I was waiting for the restore then I pressed 0 but nothing change. Then I wafting now for 1 day and the mobile in the charger but nothing change just screen with mixed colors

everything is ok but at the align screen i stuck up. i'm tapping the target but it's starting over and over at beggining. Please help me.

This happened to me a long time ago and solved it by changing the ROM and then going back to the one I wanted
Hope it helps,

I fixed it by reseting into bootloader, then hard resetting, then re-aligned 4 or 5 times and it finally worked.

i tried everything. i changed the rom then i restarted it. i do hard reset but anything can not solved problem. wich rom have you tried?

i'm trying the mtty but i'm taking an error. You can see it at the picture. please help help helppp!!!

connect your htc to pc when align screen appears. then, using pc explorer delete folowing file on htc: \Windows\welcome.exe
this can solve your problem.

go back to previous rom.
or change to another one... maybe there was some incompatibilty with that one

i can't delete the welcome.exe becouse it is read only. How can i do?

ок man. I will try to help you. there are two ways: simple (the 1st and crazy - the 2nd). So..
1st:
simply delete this shortcut (file) Welcome.lnk from this folder on HTC: \Windows\StartUp
note: after the 1st successful startup system will delete it independently, so you just skiping this step
2nd:
if You like to overcome difficulties like Armenian Komsomol member this way is for You!
Install on the personal computer the program pocket controller (like so is called), then connect PC to HTC for let pocket controller donloads cab file to HTC and then reboot HTC. The personal computer hooks control and already from the personal computer you can pass wellcome.ехе procedure and delete it using total commander if it present in your ROM.

Thanks for trying to help me but i'm stuck at the roms setup beggining align screen! Becouse of that i can't install soti pocket controller. and i can't find how to delete welcome file becouse it is read only still!

Yes i tried but i can't do it. Becouse the file is read only the device don't give me the permission for deleting it! Help help help! How can i delete it ?

what do you mean saying "can't install soti pocket controller" ?

I think for the Pocket Controller to work it needs to be installed on both, your PC and the device. Could be mistaken, it's been a while since I used it last.
I'd re-flash and see what happens.

i mean. i have to install it pc first and then xda. But i can't install it to pda becouse i'm stucked at align screen. i can't do anything! How can i install a program without skipping the align screen!? i have to find a program wich gives me chance to delete "welcome.ink" file from xda.

Try hard reset. If no joy - bootloader + reflash.

create blank file called "WELCOME.NOT" (without the quotes, for example you can use notepad) and copy it into the root of your SD card (card reader required),and soft reset. This way the welcome screen will be bypassed , but you have to allign the screen to make it usable from start=>settings=>system=>screen

If all fails, could it be the hardware problem, rather than soft?

Mi 9 SE bricked after successful MIUI 11 Update

Hello everybody!
I have a problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. This is what happened:
Few days ago I updated to MIUI 11. Everything seemed to run smoothly.
2 days ago I noticed a huge battery drain during the day. I finished my day with my battery @ 10/1% with my usual daily use.
Yesterday I was using my phone normally while it was charging (watching a video on Youtube). The phone became unresponsive to everything: the touchscreen was not working, the buttons on the right were not working.
I decided to "hard-reboot" my phone. I pressed the on/off button for a few seconds.
The screen turned off.
From this point on, my phone was completely bricked. It does not turn on in any way possible: I tried also pressing the on/off button + volume up or down but nothing. Nothing happens even connecting it again to the power cord.
I tried connecting my phone to the PC via USB and this is what my PC recognized:

I suspect some bug related to battery mgmt in the MIUI 11 and I personally do not suggest you to update to it right now.

You're on edl mode. I've been there. Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn't allow us to recover our phones on edl mode, which is a shame. So, there are two options:
1 - Send it to the seller and try a fix/replacement.
2 - Pay someone with edl authorization to unbrick your phone.
If you want, I'll give you the contact of the person who did that for me. But I had unlocked the bootloader and flashed several ROMS. I bricked the phone trying to restore a full backup. Your case is different and, for what you described, you may be experiencing hardware problems, so I would go for option one.

Thank you very much for your reply! I really feel disappointed because I never messed up with my phone. I always used official releases. Since I bought it in Italy and now I'm far away from my country, I would go for option 2. Do you know if it is possible at least to recover my photos? Honestly that's the most important thing for me right now and unfortunately I forgot to enable the backup (my bad!).

Just to update everyone on the status: my phone is still bricked. I contacted the guy suggested by elpaablo but he just suggests to re-flash my phone while I want to recover my data first. I will leave my phone in the closet for 1/2 weeks and then try again to turn it on because I read on other threads that this worked for other people.
I will update this thread later on. I want to highlight again that I did not do anything weird with my Mi 9 SE: no twrp, no custom rom, no weird flashing, nothing. I just updated successfully my phone to the global stable using the official update menu in the settings.

Use your warranty. Your phone should be replaced. As for your photos, didn't you use some kind of backup, like google photos?

Yeah I already contacted my seller and I'm going to ask for repair/replacement. Unfortunately I was not using a backup solution (my bad!).

Redo the hard reset and try again. Also, I suspect that your screen is frozen (watch for changes in dot view mode, like time and battery percentage). It might also be that your tactile screen isn't working anymore and requires a change.

Sorry, this is completely unrelated from the current topic but I reallly need help..I tried to flash a rom on my HTC but thr preloader got corrupted xo my phone go hard bricked. Pluging the phone into a computer just shows a red led and the computer shows nothing in device manager.
I tried uninstalling the MTK Preload VCOM driver and reinstalling it but that still didn't work.
Even pressing volume keys while connecting still gave nothing.
I also tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the phone to the computer but still nothing.
If there is anyone, please help me.....

When my E9 got hard bricked, I sent it to a repair shop. They took a long time, but they brought it back to life.
