can USB A/C connector in TyTN be used out?? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

hi!
When I plugged my TyTN into PC via USB or to A/C charger I found that LCD is not displaying properly the today screen, it was getting white and some colour lines showed for few seconds. It was randomly changing and showing and hiding... and caused that I can't work with device.
What was diagnosed by me that when I move the USB jack fitted in port to left or right it helped to come back to OK status.
So I used (in anger) my strenght and fixed my machine for longer time (don't ask how but i'm curious if usb port located in TyTN can be used out???
someone any experience??

As with any device, the hermes will get to the end of its life. And usb ports can break quite easly if your not carefull or unlucky.
Thats why I never use the wired headphones, dont want to kill my port.
Glad to see you got yours working again though! (your lucky you didnt break it fully, by using to much strength )

+1 on the kaiser for the next phone man... i'll be around for a while in hermes though

You can always buy a new usb port, but make sure you have a good soldering iron, and very good eyes. The 5 pins on the base of the port are extremely small and close together. If you don't have a magnifying glass, it could be a nightmare.

If that's the case, I'd just snap that port off now.

Kaiser is a mess I think, with all the non-accelerated video etc problems.
I'm eyeballing with Sony's XPERIA but only when it becomes $300-400 and only if no Android will match it by then - because XPeria's initial $1k price won't go down in less than 6-8 months and most like by then (practically next Spring) the second wave of Android-based phones will be arriving, beating XPERIA in everything at less than half the price...

The Omni software driver and HTC class action drivers do the job fine I dont even use any D3D stuff.
The extra ram and the faster cpu sound good to me.

Car Charger Problem

The description of WM6 new releases by Faria stated that finaly he solved the annoying car charger disconnection problem.
I think this has been one of the major isues of the Hermes, and until this moment nobody has been able to solve it without tweaking the conectors.
Could somebody explain how to "export" the Faria solution to any other rom (reg change, cab file...).
At the moment I'm with the last Elf rom and don't have time for a new change.
Thanks
(I have made this question on Faria's post but no answer at the moment)
I dont have that problem with my hermes, maybe because Im using the i.Trek semsons automount

Hi.
I solved this problem time ago buying a new car charger for my Hermes, and issue dissapears, no matter wat ROM i use
Not all car charges are the same, take a look and buy one specifically for Hermes...
bear in mind that there are also two different pin configurations for miniUSB connectors.
my father has one miniUSB connector for his GPS and another seemingly identical one for his hermes. one works on the hermes, the other does not.
Thanks for your comments.
I know that there are special chargers that will work, but I use one with 2 USB female connector in wich I can conect at same time an usb+psp double cable (for my Hermes and my Creative Zen Extra) and a single usb cable (for my Leadtek GPS).
I prefer to avoid more gadgets arround, and if there is a free software solution....
I had the same problem. I found a way around it, it's not elegant but it works.
Disconnect and reconnect the battery while the car charges is connected.
It works every time.

There is an easier solution, but not always works. Just connect the hermes while it is in standby.
...
Regarding the real solution announced with the new roms, it should be the chef secret recipe....
I used to suffer from this all the time, now it works 100%. I am running Black 3.5 but I think it was fixed back in Black 2.0 / XDA Live 0.2 time. I am using the same cable I used back then.
The workaround I used to do was, if it didnt start charging, to just soft reset the device and it would charge every time.
-- Phil
im guessing with the faria solution it only sends 500ma to the phone still, but yes working great so far with the Faria rom.
I did have the correct charger cable but then it got mixed up or broken and have not found it since. (it had the correct pins and thus charged at a much faster rate the the usb sync cable rate.
My interest in this is improperly designed devices, such as the Garmin Mobile 20 GPS receiver. It has a method of powering the connected phone/PDA by means of a cable, but it doesn't work on the TyTN (although it does work with a friend's T-Mobile SDA).
The unit clearly gives enough power to charge the TyTN, as connecting it then doing a soft-reset works. I just have no hope that Garmin will fix this issue, even though I have pointed them to one of the larger threads on car chargers, and what has to be done to make them work (I suspect that a new charging cable on their end would be enough to make it work). Thus, a software fix that works with the various ROMs out there would be a good thing.

I would also like to know this.
my sister and father both have hermes i would like to implement this change which has caused my dad MANY porblems without havnig to upgrade him to WM06 and invalidate his warentee.
I bought some cheap no-name USB car charger labled for Motorola Razr I believe... I was confused as to why it seemed to work intermittently. I recently found the answer - you must have the car charger live before you plug it into the Hermes. So I:
1. Plug in the car charger to the cigar lighter
2. Start or turn on the car
3. Then plug it into the Hermes.
Works 100% now.
everyone keeps missing the point...
there are several work arrounds!!!
BUT somone has managed to work out how to get the software ROM to behave properly.. this is better than ANY work arround or special adapter....
this software is what we require. (please!) stop explaining you special connection methods its not what is being asked for...

Audio fans- Suggest waiting for 3.5mm jack version

Seems like everyone but the first runners and (Tmo) are getting the version with a 3.5mm jack. I think Tmo will also get this version too once they bleed out stock. My guess is the next production runs of TP2's will have the jack for Tmo.
Makes sense from a production standpoint in regards to sub-assemblies. HTC's decision to finally bail on usb audio happened during TP2 production.

Eh, I'll just get my 1st gen TP2 replaced under warranty or something when the new 3.5mm one comes out for T-Mobile. Until then, I'll be perfectly happy with what I have.
I really don't get this whole 3.5 debacle. HTC has been making devices with their proprietery USB audio connection for years. All of a sudden some high profile blog sites start clammering for 3.5 and everyone feels they cant live without a 3.5mm headphone jack.
I'm not trying to rant; I rarely use my phone for audio since I have a Zune. Could someone please explain to me why this is such a big deal. They way I see it, if you are buying a WinMo phone purely to listen to music you are wasting your money.

Just because you listen to music on your Ipod or whatever mp3 player you have doesn't mean that we all should do the same. On a side note, I think everyone has the right to spend on things they want.

My biggest reason for wanting a separate headphone jack is so you can plug your headphones in at the same time as a power cable, so you can listen to your MP3s on power while keeping the battery fully charged.

I have to carry a cell phone. I need to carry a PDA. I want to carry a music player.
I don't want to carry more than one device and besides, wearing more than one headset at a time makes me look strange.

That's why A2DP is soo great. I love using it especially since cables always die out on me. My headphone jacks used to get caught on whatever and I'd be buying a new set of headphones for my discman back in the day at least once a month (one month I actually ended up buying three pairs). Which is why I don't care about the 3.5mm jack.
well .. first off bluetooths great but i get iffy reception sometimes when attached to my body lol and of course the sounds not great good but not great... also i personally did not buy this phone just for music because then ide get a feature phone .. but i love music and require it a standard in a 600$ phone. second you can use the adapter but.. it sticks out of your pocket and when you whip the thing out youve got this glorious phone with a hideous alien brick sticking straight out the side ... and last note... in my experience with any form of mini usb, it wears down and pretty qick dep. on usage .. if i constantly plug in and disconnect for charging and syncing thats bad enough but many many times a day when you using headphones and this usb port will be lose in a few months where you haver to wiggle it to make it work . this happened on my kaiser, mogul and a blackberry i had (on kaiser i had to eventually use a piece of folded tinfoil in the port just to get it to charge under a year old..) ... on topic- i really hope us t mobile users can eventually get a 3.5 mm like through warranty/insurance because i am PINING for it! lol

Wow! If everyone is planning on replacing their TP2 on warranty then it might make monetary sense for T-Mob to stick to only the USB versions. wow! wow! wow!
Sure, you get a built-in headphone jack, however, from what I read online, CDMA versions will not allow phonecall + data at the same time. Only once the 4G network comes out will this be possible on a CDMA phone. So all of these CDMA touch pro 2 future owners are giving up simultaneous DATA + voice for a headphone jack. Then again, those that are already on a CDMA network will notice no changes from before.

This is all a non-issue to me. From what I recall reading it is Tmo that specified they wanted their TP2 to be 3.5mm-less to HTC. So that is what HTC built for them. I wouldn't hold my breath for a TP2 from T-mo being 3.5mm inclusive at any point.
If I am in a location where I can charge my phone, I'll play the music through the speaker. It'll go through a headset if I'll be away from a power source (aka desk). And I have two options there, either the RC E100 remote (from my Kaiser days) which has a 3.5 jack or via A2DP with a Sony HBH-DS220 (3.5 jack), feeding a pair of Etymotic ER4P's with a 5" lead. Both have built in mics, keeps the phone holstered and out of sight.

Mozart my first 48hours.

I have a touch HD for the past 2 years and still have at present.
Anyway Orange offered Mozart as a new 18M contract as it was up for renewal.
First impressions are:-
BAD.
1) No standard Mini USB connection.(I though all phones were standardizing)
2) Why have said connection in side off phone. (This means no neat cradle on desktop)
3) No Mapping software. Also my Memory Map will not work.
4) No easy way to SD card.
5) Contacts transferred but lost pictures?
GOOD
1) Screen and colours are excellent. Better than Touch HD.
2) Software is brilliant so fast and slick. I really like it. (Wish my PC had this front end).
3) Zune works OK.
Nice to have:-
1) Memory Map.
2) Windows 6.5 apps could be recompiled to run on Windows 7 phones.
3) Clock was bigger on front screen say a block with a clock.
4) Enlarge text option.
Will I keep it?
Still thinking of trading both in for a HD2. But if software I need was coming I would stick with it.
PS Anyone know how to get video recorder just keep getting camera.

i assume he means the USB connection is either on the top or bottom of the phone as opposed to the side. therefore, a phone cradle for the phone is unlikely of being produced since it can't be slid into the cradle sideways............is my guess.
Don't see how this is a phone negative...someone will make a cradle for it eventually

Ah...okay...the Xperia X1 also had the USB port on the right but there have been cradles eventually. There is an extra cable to plug into the USB port after sliding the phone into the cradle. In my opinion this is a benefit because I do not want to charge the phone everytime I place it into the cradle and with this extra cable I can decide if the phone should be charged or not.

If it's anything like the HD7 he means that it isn't in the centre of the phone which means generic cradles can't be used.

Yes; annoyingly, even though Mini-USB emerged as a standard over the last few years, and even though the reasoning behind the formal standardisation was to reduce the number of chargers that had to be produced and which ended up in landfill, the companies involved decided to use variant of the standard Micro-USB instead; dismissing the opportunity to gain a head start in their quest by utilising the enormous number of phone already out in the world towards their goals.
And that was all one sentence.
However, the decision was not voluntary. It was requested by.. I forget who. Some governments I think. So, why would they want to use an existing standard when they can sell more accessories by using a different one? Apple are in on the deal too, so the next iPhone should have a Micro-USB connector.
In their defence, Micro-USB is probably a better choice than Mini-USB as devices are sure to get thinner and the Micro-USB socket has a narrower profile.

[Q] Captivate has no front side camera.

I've been looking to see if there was a front loading camera, using the usb connection. It seems logical, that an add on camera to the Captivate, exists. And using it to film, on a usb wired connection, makes sense. However, I must not be able to correctly identify what I'm looking for. So far, a cheap, small wireless security camera, is the best I've found at Amazon. Does anyone know of a product that exists, that would be an add on, to let you communicate with others, face to face, from the front of the Captivate? I love the camera, it's just not too handy, not having a front facing camera. Thanks.
The captivate doesn't support being used as a usb host, and there is no phone addon cameras, I've looked. But google "one more face"...looks promising if some one would buy the"project"

No. You need a jig to hack otg. You short pins 4&5. That says to the phone, "this is an otg device". OTG is a usb standard for mobile devices to communicate with other mobile devices... camera to phone, or phone to thumb drive.
oh so the usb device would have to be otg compatible.. right?

adam you are just full of knowledge aren't you? well i hope a mobile usb camera becomes a reality even if i wont need it.
I just got to thinking about the USB port and cameras. I realized that it should be possible to rig a flash by using a 619kohm resistor across pins 4 and 5 on the USB port, and an LED between tx and ground, then sending 0xFF repeatedly to the /dev/ttyACM0 ( you have to mknod that device and reboot for it to work). Just thought I'd share that. I know it's a bit off topic, but hey.. it would be a cool addition to the camera.

i actually was thinking of that one stoney night, googling around looking for just a flash, it wouldnt be hard to rig up, the hardest part would be getting the timing down, unless its used as a "back light" rather than a flash.

I too would love to see someone rig up a flash or a camera for the usb! it seeme illogical to me that mobile devices dont have more use for micro usb ports, seems easy to imagine a whole host of different attachment devices.

I guess when you search for things, sometimes you find a 'maybe'. Looking on Amazon for some type of add on camera, to make up for the non front, I found this. It's called
'Mini Wireless Color Camera with Microphone', and sells for $31.35, and acts somewhat like a security camera, but it's small, wireless, have 150 foot range, built in mike, and has full color full motion, and a few other things as well. It says can be used for presentations and interviews. That said, isn't a front facing camera, used for that purpose, as well? I have an expensive network security camera, that I use to protect my belongings, and in truth, I can monitor it very well, from my Captivate. So, if this little fellow I found half way works, set it near by, and when you feel like chatting face to face, go at it. No need to hold your cell phone up, to do it with. Without trying it, it's hard to know the quality resolution you'd have, but for less than $32.00? Might be worth a shot. It's on Amazon, made by Generic, if anyone wants to look at it.

you say wireless, is it wifi? bluetooth? or radio frequency? if it is wifi or bluetooth we might have something.
The camera I was speaking of, is found here, along with others
http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Wireless...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305632158&sr=1-1
and it's the first choice, which I noticed was about $1.50 less, than I noticed it was. It comes with what is mentioned, and the third, for a little over $50, has more to it, than the cheaper one. Basically, these are security camera systems, but are so small, could fit into the front camera strategy, for those like us, that bought a great smart phone, that WAS BUILT DUMB, without a front facing camera. Devices like these, open areas that might benefit us, if we think on it.
That camera is not designed to hook up to anything besides it's base station. The base station provides an incompatible A/V output. You'd have more luck with a webcam.

leaving all voltage/current/temperature issues aside, if u somehow do make it work, ur tab's gonna turn off every time when u switch off the ignition (at traffic lights, jams etc).
why not just buy a dashboard dock for ur tab, and a car charger(which is connected via the cigarette lighter outlet), u can leave tht charger connected if u wish.

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about, so please refrain from shedding your "brilliance" moving forward. This is nothing new, and people are doing this all over the place.
There are applications to allow the tablet to remain charged while in ignition->off mode, while not draining the vehicle's power (read: trickle charging, essentially). Who the hell turns off their car at traffic lights/jams? I don't know a single person that does this.
There are TONS of advantages to installing a N7 into your vehicle as your primary audio/nav/etc. source. Internet radio, hands free call/SMS over stereo, navigation, etc. all in one for a mere couple hundred dollars.
Do some research before you just slam someone's idea.
OP: Check out an app called Tasker. It allows you to configure the tablet to see vehicle ignition and at that condition, brighten the screen, turn on WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS/etc., and then turn all that stuff off, and go into a low voltage mode. This will take care of your battery concerns.
tasker
Yes I know about tasker and I am sure I can get that to work for ignition on and off. Maybe I need to rephrase my question and shed some more light. What I am wondering is if there is a good way to run it with no battery and use the car completely for power or if it is even possible. I know that tasker will get its info from it if there is power on the charge port but what if I don't use that? What if I give it power directly from the car where the battery should be. Is it possible for me to do that? The only reason I was thinking of doing that is because it would be permanent and I do not want the battery to explode in the summer heat. Could I run the tab with just power over USB and no battery? So that ignition sends power to the Tab and it has no tablet battery ? I have not purchased the tablet yet and was hoping to figure this all out before I start hacking it to pieces. I am not scared to solder or do any of that but I do not know how the tablet will work with no battery so I was hoping someone else would. Thanks

I do not shut off my car as I do not live in a big city with traffic jams or any of that. I am not worried about voltage/current as I am sure I can figure that out or modify a current 12v to usb charger. Temperature I am also not worried about as I can add heatsinks to everything and fans if needed. I am a little worried about the battery sitting in the car in the heat and that is why I am asking these questions.

either u (and the people you know) r very rich, or u hav got a SUPER eco friendly fuel saving car that i dont know about. everyone turns off their ignition when they are stuck at jams n lights.
my guess, u own a normal run off the mill car. so switch off ur engine when required, it'll save u abt 800-1000$ worth of fuel in a year

not to mention the laborious process of rewiring ur car's electrical systems, dashboard trims etc...........
my process will cost a maximum of abt 10-15$, and at max 2mins of install time. (use a "line-in" cable to route ur tab's audio via the cars existing stereo system)

??? Heat on the battery will do what ??? I have had a GPS on the dash of my car solid, parked outdoors, for 2 years. Still works fine when plugged in to the 12v adapter, and even holds a charge. Heat may shorten "life" of battery, but if it is also connected to a power cource of the car, should be FINE.:good:
Well from the looks of it no one has a real answer so I am just going to mess around with one when I get it and see what works best for me. I do not mind rewiring the entire car as I planned to do that with new speakers and an amp etc. I have done many car audio installs and I actually enjoy doing it. I think what I will probably end up doing is keeping the battery in it and if it does go bad I can just replace it. The way I see it is it is a pretty cheap tablet to mess around with compared to the thousand plus I would spend on a double din to do the same thing. Plus if I don't like how it works on my test bench then I will just use it as a tablet and not put it in the car. Thanks for the help. Also I don't know a single person who shuts their cars off at stop lights. I am sure it is great on the car to start and stop the motor every 2 minutes. You do realize you use very little gas when at idle. Anyways, thanks for the ideas.
Is this a serious post? Obviously if I am looking to hack a 200$ tablet I am not worried about cost too much. Also your idea is easy but I want it to be integrated and clean. I want it to look nice and not just have wires and mount sitting there.

You should have to pass at least a 4rd grade grammar test to post on this forum, because posts like these are just embarrassing to the forum.

2001 Corvette, I'm not rich, I'm a DIY'er. Isn't that what this forum is for? People that like to do projects and things themselves? Are you not from the US? Literally, no one does that but you. It doesn't take much fuel for a vehicle to sit at idle. In fact, it generally consumes MORE fuel to start a vehicle rather than let it idle for a few minutes rather than turn it off, wait a minute, turn it on, drive a bit, repeat, etc. Care to argue with me about this? I'm an ASE certified technician and will teach you a thing or two.

Rewiring my car? Haha. No. There's no rewiring involved other than adding an adapter. I think even a 4 year old could handle that task. Dashboard trims should not need modification on most newer vehicles, as most newer vehicles come with a double din or larger console that will either allow for direct fitment, or fitment with a simple install kit. My car requires modification, but it's easy work. It's not for the average Joe when it comes to modifying plastics, no, but you can hire people to do that. Also, again, this is a PROJECT. If you don't like it, shut up about it and don't post. The OP wants to do this, let him do it. Congrats on your cool 2 minute idea, but guess what, it's going to look stupid compared to an in-dash installation. Don't believe me?

Awesome post.. I see you went the whole nexus dash route, did you end up going with a permanent solution or is the tablet just hiding in there? I wanted to do this for my wife and make it as friendly as possible. I was looking at using the ElementalX kernel so that I could add usb storage while charging, is that what you did? I would also be using co-pilot for gps since I can just download the maps. Did you add a usb-dac to yours? I figured if I am going to spend some money on nice speakers and an amp or two I might as well get the best audio quality. My biggest concern is that this project will be wife proof and it will work well for her on a daily use. I would love to get her steering controls working too but that may be a stretch. I actually love to tinker with this stuff so if it takes a couple weeks to get it working with ignition on off etc and music, gps, etc etc I am totally cool with that. I have done 4 carputer intalls before this but this will be my first tablet job. I figure if it goes well and I really like it then I will do the same to my car.

Actually, that's the build I'm basing mine off of. Mine is going to be very similar, though I did have to do a bit of dash modification to make it fit (I should be done this week and will be posting pics/build thread). The one in the photo is "permanent" (though he simply hot glued brackets to it and it could easily be removed), and mine will be permanent. For $200, I have no issue keeping the thing installed permanently. My current 2013 has CM11 on it, but I haven't tested it with USB OTG (waiting on another cable to arrive), though if it doesn't work, I'll just use the ElementalX kernel with a stock ROM, since I'm sure that will work. Timur is working on a 2013 ROM as well. However, that's exactly what the plan is. 1TB external HDD with the accessory wire switching on a relay to engage the charging/screen on profile for the tablet, then upon key off, kill relay, and switching profile to off profile. I'm using a ByByte QUAD 7850 mini-amp to power everything. (LINK)
Regarding steering wheel controls, though I hear it's possible, I'm told it is a MAJOR project. I'm not going to bother with that, myself.
Sounds awesome, I will be excited to read your write up. I am curious to know how good that little amp will be. I was thinking of doing a 5 channel amp but I really didn't want to tear up the interior to run all the wires. Will you be using stock speakers? Are you using the 3.5mm jack or going to move toward a usb-dac? I will probably just go with a 64gb usb pen drive since my wife will only be doing music and very few movies if ever. I will also be adding fm to mine. Seems like all of this can be easily tested before it is in a car so I might have to take the plunge and start tinkering. Hook me up with a link when you get your write up going. Thanks

The guy who's build I'm replicating used the mini amp, said it was just fine. It's basically the same as the built-in amps on a regular head unit. I may switch to aftermarket speakers/amp/sub in the future, though, so stock speakers for now. Since it has a factory Bose setup, I had to buy a PAC ROEM-VET1 adapter to lower the frequency, which allows me to use the factory speakers.
Yup, definitely can mostly be bench tested first. I haven't done much research on FM. Have you? Any thoughts on how to accomplish that? I really don't care if I never have FM in my car again, but I'm curious to know how people are accomplishing that.
Will do on the link. :good:

I looked into it and people have used something like this DVB-T Realtek RTL2832U Elonics R820T 50MHz-2200MHz HD TV DAB SDR RTL-SDR Project and used it for radio with SDR TOUCH I ordered one already and will see how well it works on a PC before I get the tablet. You would need to get a usb hub working in order to plug it in and your hdd. I learned a lot from Nexus 7 clean car install with backup cam. He is using the older nexus but I am sure a lot of the same stuff applies as long as you have a kernel that supports it which there is now. My wife could not live without NPR so she has to have radio. It is also nice to have radio and not need data, then you know if there are any weather events or crazy things going on.

Search YouTube. Some really cool in dash tablet setups out there. They even have modules avail now where you can use your steering wheel controls with the tablet. For a 200$ tablet, N7 not a bad deal for an in dash car setup. There is a great market out there for supplies and Installers on this exact topic!! Some make them removable, some pop into sight when you turn the key.!! I would love to have the time to take on an in dash Android setup, fun project to say the least.
I suppose it would only be a stupid idea for the non Android lovers and boring dudes lacking the love for technology. Negative kids these day

He is trolling.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013) using Tapatalk 4
Yes, it's possible, but has some side-effects
Edit: Sorry, didn't see this whole forum section is about the 2013 Nexus 7. But it still might be relevant if anyone dares to do the same hack on a new Nexus 7...
To answer the original question: Yes, it's possible to power the Nexus 7 (old) without battery, but it involves sending power directly to the battery connection inside the Nexus 7, and it seems to have some side-effects.
The battery is a one-cell lithium polymer, which has a max charge of 4.23 V. I hoped the Nexus wouldn't fry when connecting 5 V, and it has worked fine the few minutes I've tested it. No smell of burnt electronics
Here is what I did:
Tear off the tape around the battery cable. You'll see it's soldered to a pcb-board, and the two black and two red wires are soldered together. The two wires in the middle is probably some kind of data-connection to the battery. Will investigate this further later.
Then I soldered loose the cables, so I could use the battery-connector, and soldered both red and black wires to red and black wires in a USB-cable. Drilled a hole in the back-cover right below the NFC-antenna. The back-cover is filled with all sorts of antennas, so scratch carefully with a knife before drilling. Attached some pictures of the process.
Side-effects I've noticed so far:
- It thinks the battery is at 0% and not charging.
- The clock is reset when you turn off the power. But if you have internet it will update from NTP within a minute or so.
- My computer (OS X) can't detect it anymore. So I suspect it doesn't work in USB device-mode anymore, but I'm able to connect a USB-keyboard with an OTG-cable, so it seems to work in host-mode.
Does anyone else have any experience with this, or any ideas why it doesn't work in device-mode? I'm considering adding a small connector so I can use the two extra wires from the battery to the data-wires of the USB-cable (and disconnect when not in use), and then solder a USB female cable to the original battery. That way I can (hopefully) connect the Nexus 7 to my computer when needed, and possibly analyze what the two extra wires is actually used for.
I have CM for Android 4.2, and Timur's USB-rom, but it's probably not needed for this hack, and I will probably install a stock rom if I get this working properly.
Be careful, and don't blame me if you fry your Nexus (or anything else). Be sure to turn off any fast-charge hacks when the battery is disconnected.
You've done some more testing?
I am also trying to connect directly to the car my nexus.
Thanks for the reply
