Building a backup Rom for the T-Mobile Compact IV - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi there,
I've bought a Diamond... But then its "looks and feels" are pushed by t-mobile.
Of course i wanna try an other Rom from a good cooker or build my own Rom.
Testing and testing till i drop #@%!.
Unfortunalty there is a little problem involving warrenty.
When you flash your Compact IV .... well you know the rest... goodbye warrenty.
So, i took some time and browsed this form for my answers.
The trouble i ran into is, the original Rom T-mobile uses for the compact IV is no where to be found.
Currently my Mobile uses:
Rom version: 1.37.114.3 NLD
Radio version: 1.00.25.03
Protocol version: 52.26a.25.09U
When I read the treads "on how to backup / build your dumped Rom" with ROM Kitchen and xda tools, you also need an RUU_Signed.nbh, which is located in an Original Shipped Rom.
I read you can't build a Baserom of dumped Raw files with a higher or lower Original Rom. Is this true?
Now the real questions:
1) Can someone provide this Rom version. I don't have got a clue where to get it.
2) If there is some one who has already done this. please help me! and all other T-mobile Costumers... (Please don't hesitate).

AT&T SX56 w/XDA-dev Special Edition ROM v1.2 HOW UPGRADE

I have an AT&T Siemens SX56. I used the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 to get my SIM Lock disabled. I have T-Mobile service and my T-Mobile SIM now works, hoooray!
However!, The version of Pocket PC on this ROM is not to my liking.
I went to siemens site and they offer the latest Windows Mobile 2003 for my device, however I can't use it becuase my ROM versions don't match.
IS there any way I can upgrade the latest Windows mobile 2003? What would be the recommended method?
My current SX56 info:
Rom Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version: A.33.02
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Model No. says: PW10a1 (even though it says on the back PW10b1)
MS Pocket PC 3.0.12039 (build 11178)
Any help or advice would be appreciated. I scared to do anything for fear that using a ROM kitchen might toast my ROM
ANY advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Brock
the rear sticker is THE right one .. your device is B and it works on 900/1900 MHz.
As long you don't touch the RSU part and you are using the SD method for ROM flashing, there is almost nothing can go wrong for using the kitchen for ROM cooking. I can't remember how many times I flashed my ROM
You can get more details by reading through this forum carefully.
Good luck
Hmm... So what version of ROM on this ROM kitchen website would be most recommended: http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ ?
Also is there a reason why you are only allowed 3620kb of ROM space? I thought my device had 32MB?
All I would have to do is create the ROM on that site save it as a .exe and then it would do everything else?
Thank you for the quick reply!
I forgot to mention that I have the Wallaby Boot loader version 5.22, if that makes any difference.
I also was wondering if the newer radio versions make any difference on reception/clarity/availablity of a signal????
Another thing I was wondering about is... How come on this ROM kitchen website http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ I have to e-mail information and await instuctions to proceed? Does he have to give me a special number that is generated to make the ROM I downloaded work w/ my IMEI or device?? Or is that totally not right???
Thanks again,
Brock[/i]

Overhaul XDA2i - Any suggestions ?

Hi Guys !
I've been going through this forum since I got my XDA2i a couple of months ago. I have the following config :
ROM 1.10.00WWE
ROM Date 12/24/2004
Radio Version 1.00.00
Protocol Version 1337.39
ExtROM Version 1.10.124 WWE
Model No PH10C
I wanted to know if there is a possibility of better versions of these, even if they are of other models/manufacturers, to be put together on 1 XDA2i and make it work like one helluva machine ?
Can you recommend / attach the files to this question and tell me a little more about it as I am a non techie !
cheers
Prattz
you can get the new rom version off the o2 website .just follow the links
My extrom is blank should there be something there ?- it seems to work ok.
Guys,
Thanks for the inputs, the reason I have put the question up is that I have seen people having higher versions of the various stuff. They've got ROm from somewhere and Radio stack from somewhere else etc.
1. I wanted to use your expertise in creating an all powerful tool.
2. Add Blackberry functionality as was advertised earlier by O2, what
a let down now that they've removed all mentions of the blackberry.
Would really appreciate help in this regard.
cheers
Prattz
There are two upgrades i know of ... one is the new I-mate upgrade, which came before the O2 one and has a newer Radio version .
BUT
the newest upgrade is the O2 upgrade, even though it doesnt have an upgraded radio.
A solution is to use the Rom "pug" posted, which uses the O2 upgrade but also includes the i-mate radio version.
You get the latest, and best of each so .... heres the link ... ftp://xdaupload:[email protected] XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162 Radio_1.3.rar
I suggest you read through this 3 page thread first though as it will give you all the advice you need.

Rom Dumping: please clarify ...

Hi to all!
I'm a new qtek 9000 (dangaard) owner, and i started one week ago to look for tweaks and so on.. so here i am! i red every forum and many, many messages, but none gave me an answer...
Special attention (and thanks) go to buzz for his deep knowledge and tutorials.
My actual goal is to FULLY backup (dump) ALL that is needed to FULLY restore the ORIGINAL (warranty not voided) firmware/software.
To do this i tried 2 methods:
1) task32, d2m from boot loader : NO SUCCESS , usual "not allow operation" message; i have bootloadr 1.0 , so i think is not possible, BUT CAN I DOWNGRADE the loader, dump, and then RESTORE my 1.0 loader ? how to do it (if yes) ??
2) the "pdocread" method: ok, but in the qtek.raw there is NOT MY radio, and so on.... how can i get MY original ones ?
p.s. there is no official upgrade for my qtek yet... so i can't' use it only wity my pdocreaded os...
Thanks a lot to everyone!! and please give me answers )
rom dump
I too would like a simple walkthrough on how to dump Radio , Rom and Extended rom.
Hats off too Buzz and many but I have tried to make sense of various posts and all seem to go off abit for us simple folk.
Does someone out there have answers please to:
1) Can a rom back up (dump) be done.
2) When dump has completed does original rom stay on device or does dumping it mean it's gone from universal completly.
3) Can you save these images and install them back onto universal at a latter date.
If this is possible how? What software do we need to do it?
I want to update the crapy slow rom on my M5000. But to cover my arse I would like the option to restore it to it's factory shipped state if it all goes belly up!
so folks ??
does someone takes care to give us an explanation of all this ??
Hey guys, just PM me... I'm now at work but have made a word document on how to do this adn it's at home.
I also had this dilema... I have a Spanish QTEK and no official ROM so here goes....
1. If you want the .DOC, pm me where to send it - i take no responsibility for the results but will help if you get stuck somewhere or need clarification on the steps.
2. I got the my radio (1.03.00) from the english qtek ROM by copying the radio_.nbf file as radio's are not language dependent (as far as i know). The OS, i created the QTEk.RAW with pdocread, the Extended_ROM i just copied and pasted. That's how I backed-up my device that I can restore again still "under warranty" so to DUMP/BACKUP
2.1 OS : Use pdocread
2.2 Extended_ROM : Just copy and paste
2.3 Radio : Get it from a ROM update with same radio version.
Hope this helps
Hi guys,
I have a newbie question, please.
I read something about ROM is language dependent.
My O2 XDA2 has a ROM version 1.03.00 USA, can I do an upgrade to a 1.72.187 UK version? If no, is there an US version upgrade available? where can I find it?
Thanks for any help.
Alex,

Reverting back to ...

T-Mobile UK Vario II HERM300
IPL - 1.04
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Rom Version: Black Satin
Rom Date: 07/10/07
Radio Version: 1.41.00.10
Protocol Version: 32.74.7020.18H
I have searched and as you can probably imagine any people have done neraly the same thing, but i cant seem to find one exactly the same.
I am in need to revert back to the original WM5, but to keep the phone unlocked with SPL 2.10.Olipro. I used the Hermunlocker.
Beleive it or not i have a backup rom.
Is there anyone that could help me step by step on what i need to load into the device and in what order.
My need to do this is to sell on and move onto the next Vario.
I see there being a problem if i sell it on, in the way that someone will probably get confused without the original O/S on.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Sorry if i have repeated myself over another post, but im being honest as i have been looking from work and home today.
Again thanks in advance.
In my current position can i install rom
RUU_Hermes_TMO_UK_3.60.110.4_6275_1.50.00.00_108_Ship.exe
Thanks again
If you've got the original ROM or a provider supplied upgrade then rolling back to that should not be a problem. Have a look at MrVanx's link in my Signature.
erm, this probalby isnt the place for this
you didn't hear from me, but there is an official t-mobile wm6 for hermes on the t-mobile.co.uk website.
a few small issues with it, windows live is not supported neither is blackberry connect. oter than that it seems ok.
you may need to change your voicemail number from +44 to 0044 prefix
it may not be up there for long tho

All device info gone ???

Hey,
I'm pretty new at this, so I'll explain how i've gotten in to this.
1. Bought a HTC tytn UK and I wanted it in dutch
2. Since I couldn't find an original rom i flashed it to the dutch rom from shap's (wich is actually great)
3. Then i did find an original rom but wasn't able to flash it so i used "HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3a"
4. The original dutch rom works fine now, except when i go to device info
Rom version: empty
Rom date: empty
Radio version: empty
Protocol version: empty
CPU: 8 squars
speed: 6 squarsBe...
No imei number and so on.
Can someone please help me, maybe in the future when i try to sell the phone this must be ok.
Thx a lot to all xda developers here !!!
edit: original bootloader and ipl were: SPL-2.05 IPL-1.04 (maybe it has something to do with that?)

Click to collapse
1) you need to flash HardSPL
2) make sure you have flashed a new radio after using the CID/SIM unlocker, due to the fact that it downgrades it to a very old radio for it to work.
I had this issue when I tried a version of HTC Home Customizer that I found somewhere on the net.
To make it all come back, I had to hard reset, and not reinstall the program that caused it. I'm not sure if any other programs could cause that issue, or why it was caused.
I've flashed my device to HardSPL. now wich radio rom should I use?
I've found several radio rom but I don't have a clue wich one is best for me (Belgium, Mobistar)
flash a shipped ROM from here, there is a dutch HTC from there. get to boot loader, pressing the ok on the left, power on right, and stick stylus in at the same time. plug it to active sync, and run the exe file from the WM 6 rom upgrade/downgrade.
