AT&T SX56 w/XDA-dev Special Edition ROM v1.2 HOW UPGRADE - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have an AT&T Siemens SX56. I used the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 to get my SIM Lock disabled. I have T-Mobile service and my T-Mobile SIM now works, hoooray!
However!, The version of Pocket PC on this ROM is not to my liking.
I went to siemens site and they offer the latest Windows Mobile 2003 for my device, however I can't use it becuase my ROM versions don't match.
IS there any way I can upgrade the latest Windows mobile 2003? What would be the recommended method?
My current SX56 info:
Rom Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version: A.33.02
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Model No. says: PW10a1 (even though it says on the back PW10b1)
MS Pocket PC 3.0.12039 (build 11178)
Any help or advice would be appreciated. I scared to do anything for fear that using a ROM kitchen might toast my ROM
ANY advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Brock

the rear sticker is THE right one .. your device is B and it works on 900/1900 MHz.
As long you don't touch the RSU part and you are using the SD method for ROM flashing, there is almost nothing can go wrong for using the kitchen for ROM cooking. I can't remember how many times I flashed my ROM
You can get more details by reading through this forum carefully.
Good luck

Hmm... So what version of ROM on this ROM kitchen website would be most recommended: http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ ?
Also is there a reason why you are only allowed 3620kb of ROM space? I thought my device had 32MB?
All I would have to do is create the ROM on that site save it as a .exe and then it would do everything else?
Thank you for the quick reply!

I forgot to mention that I have the Wallaby Boot loader version 5.22, if that makes any difference.
I also was wondering if the newer radio versions make any difference on reception/clarity/availablity of a signal????
Another thing I was wondering about is... How come on this ROM kitchen website http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ I have to e-mail information and await instuctions to proceed? Does he have to give me a special number that is generated to make the ROM I downloaded work w/ my IMEI or device?? Or is that totally not right???
Thanks again,
Brock[/i]

Install WM2003

Hi:
I am not a developer, but have a few questions regarding installing the lastest ATT WM2003. I have a Siemnes SX56. I used the XDA-Developer's edition to unlock the device - so thats what is installed now. I would like to install the WM2003 instead.
Here is what I have now:
ROM: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date: 05/15/03
Radio Version: A.33.02
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Is there is any special procedure to do this, or I can just flash the WM2003 that I have downloaded from ATT's website? You can email me directly at [email protected]
Thanks for any help in advance.
Dave
please read thr the forum, all answers are there!
The only thing you've got to know is don't use the .exe method, use the .nb1 method with the SD card method. All the info is available in thousands of posts.
If you're installing an official ROM including a radio upgrade you need to use the .EXE method or the radio upgrade won't go in. The SD method doesn't update the radio.
I'd be more willing to do the .EXE method for an unadulterated ROM from AT&T than a cooked ROM, but that's just my opinion
Installing ATT WM2003
Thanks to everyone's responses, and special thanks to Nerrdo for taking the time to write up the details. I have successfully installed WM2003 using the .NBF file method.
With the new OSImage Tool you really do not need to use the SD method anymore. You can do it directly through ActiveSync as long as you have the .NBF file somewhere on your hard drive.
Thanks to everyone again! I am enjoying my WM2003!

Sync Error on ROM Update via ActiveSync

I am currently trying to upgrade my Rom from the standard O2 version to the XDA-DEV Special Edition.
I have done this many times before on other XDA 2i's however this one doesn't seem to like communicating. Activesync with syncronise all folders and connect quite happily however when i try to run the Special edition Rom setup MS-DOS box appears verify version and reports unknown internal error. then when the setup software starts it verifies your system requirments, you select next and then it reports the following in a GUI Box.
Cannot execute the remote communication program.
Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is connected properly.
To try and get arount this i have put the XDA in Bootloader mode and then run setup but still comes back with the same error.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated
ROM Version 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date 01/27/05
RADIO Version 1.00.00
PROTOCOL Version 1337.39
ExtROM Version 1.11.171 WWE
XDA-DEV Special Edition is a rather old rom only! for wallaby devices
Thats weird as i have had it running on a himalaya in the past. Is there a ready made upgrade rom for an XDA IIi available. Bored with the O2 one, to many restrictions.
then you are the first i ever heard about who have portet a rom from 1 pda device to another
Thaks for that, I have found one of PUGS with the O2 stuff stripped out.
See how it goes with that one.
Many Thanks

Reverting back to ...

T-Mobile UK Vario II HERM300
IPL - 1.04
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Rom Version: Black Satin
Rom Date: 07/10/07
Radio Version: 1.41.00.10
Protocol Version: 32.74.7020.18H
I have searched and as you can probably imagine any people have done neraly the same thing, but i cant seem to find one exactly the same.
I am in need to revert back to the original WM5, but to keep the phone unlocked with SPL 2.10.Olipro. I used the Hermunlocker.
Beleive it or not i have a backup rom.
Is there anyone that could help me step by step on what i need to load into the device and in what order.
My need to do this is to sell on and move onto the next Vario.
I see there being a problem if i sell it on, in the way that someone will probably get confused without the original O/S on.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Sorry if i have repeated myself over another post, but im being honest as i have been looking from work and home today.
Again thanks in advance.
In my current position can i install rom
RUU_Hermes_TMO_UK_3.60.110.4_6275_1.50.00.00_108_Ship.exe
Thanks again
If you've got the original ROM or a provider supplied upgrade then rolling back to that should not be a problem. Have a look at MrVanx's link in my Signature.
erm, this probalby isnt the place for this
you didn't hear from me, but there is an official t-mobile wm6 for hermes on the t-mobile.co.uk website.
a few small issues with it, windows live is not supported neither is blackberry connect. oter than that it seems ok.
you may need to change your voicemail number from +44 to 0044 prefix
it may not be up there for long tho

All device info gone ???

Hey,
I'm pretty new at this, so I'll explain how i've gotten in to this.
1. Bought a HTC tytn UK and I wanted it in dutch
2. Since I couldn't find an original rom i flashed it to the dutch rom from shap's (wich is actually great)
3. Then i did find an original rom but wasn't able to flash it so i used "HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3a"
4. The original dutch rom works fine now, except when i go to device info
Rom version: empty
Rom date: empty
Radio version: empty
Protocol version: empty
CPU: 8 squars
speed: 6 squarsBe...
No imei number and so on.
Can someone please help me, maybe in the future when i try to sell the phone this must be ok.
Thx a lot to all xda developers here !!!
edit: original bootloader and ipl were: SPL-2.05 IPL-1.04 (maybe it has something to do with that?)

Click to collapse
1) you need to flash HardSPL
2) make sure you have flashed a new radio after using the CID/SIM unlocker, due to the fact that it downgrades it to a very old radio for it to work.
I had this issue when I tried a version of HTC Home Customizer that I found somewhere on the net.
To make it all come back, I had to hard reset, and not reinstall the program that caused it. I'm not sure if any other programs could cause that issue, or why it was caused.
I've flashed my device to HardSPL. now wich radio rom should I use?
I've found several radio rom but I don't have a clue wich one is best for me (Belgium, Mobistar)
flash a shipped ROM from here, there is a dutch HTC from there. get to boot loader, pressing the ok on the left, power on right, and stick stylus in at the same time. plug it to active sync, and run the exe file from the WM 6 rom upgrade/downgrade.

Help Problem with Switching On the 'Phone' GSM Radio After ROM Upgrade

Hello,
I have a question I would appreciate your help. I have a loaded this ROM i.e. ROM PDAVIET WWE BLACKSTONE WM6.5 ROM V65 21859 yesterday. Its excellent and thanks for the good work.
My problem is that the phone / GSM is off and stays off even if I select to switch on the phone. WIFI works well and I have connected to internet etc ok. Bluetooth works well also. The only problem I have is that I cannot use the phone to connect to my providers GSM network, the in the settings when I select switch on the phone, it indicates that it is processing something but it does not come on. I would appreciate any help/ideas.
I have Blackstone (Touch HD) - (Bought in Dubai and it was NOT sim locked - I have used it before with the stock ROM with several different providers SIM cards without any issues.)
Currently I have:
- OS version: 5.2.23053 (23053.5.3.0 PV)
- Manilla version: 2.5.19183726.1
- ROM version: 1.59.841.64 WWE
- ROM date: 09/21/09
- Radio version: 1.14.25.24
I noticed as well that when I go into 'settings' then 'system information' and select 'phone identity' that the Model No, Platform, IMEI and S/N Number information is missing.
I used a HSPL - 'HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex' and all went smoothly, and while still on the stock ROM all was ok including the GSM/PHONE. The problem started when I flashed to newer ROM's.
Also I do not have a backup of my stock ROM.
I would really appreciate any help, suggestions.
I have also read the FAQ's and the wiki on xda but the only thing that I can think of is that I need to do some sort of SIM/CID unlock? But I am not sure as I was already able to use my phone with the stock ROM with any providers SIM card.
Thanks,
Rmwanga.
I have the same problem
Hi Rmwanga
Were you able to solve this problem? I have the same problem with my BlackStone. I bought a Unlocked version of Blackstone and was using it without any problems, until I "Stoned" it by flashing WM6.5 ROM.
Please get back to me if you found a solution to this ?
Thanks
