In light of this post Battery drainage tips&tricks How to Increase Your Battery Life I have created a cab with the registry suggestions..it is the same cab that has been around at the Juno section of XDA and the same one that is on allshadow.com both phones share similar Smartphone registries and so the cab should work just fine on the Excalibur.
Here is the download SaveBatteryHTC_Juno.cab
Its a simple step... you install and that is it.. it will just work.. if for what ever reason you don't like it simply uninstall it and your registries should go back to what they where before you installed the cab.
Great post, I would recommend people try this because I tried this myself and noticed much improvement in battery. Also, its a .cab, therefore, you can always uninstall if your phone gets unstable for any reason. Hope this helps everyone and thanks again for this post.
I just installed it, i'll try it out. Thanks for the post.
im going to try dis out cuz i need it
I just installed in on my Excalibur, what exactly does the cab do, I'm just curious

LMAO you install something on your phone, that you have no idea what it does??
Never do that.

Did you read the first post completely? there is a link to another post of the registry entries info..
Haha its so funny how people install things that they do not know what it does on their phone... Anyways it seems to work excellent. Thanks for this.
I know what this does
but can someone tell me if they actually saw the difference, and i know it basically disables Activesync from syncing automatically but what if Activesync does not sync automatically (atleast in my case, I don't see anything on the task manager)
can someone better explain how it does what it does and correct me if i'm wrong.
on the other hand, my battery sucks - it dies with 1/2 day of use i.e. all i do is make phone calls/maybe use palringo but checks email every 5 mins but now i changed that setting to 2 hours so it doesn't use data that often but so far, it dies pretty soon.
Would I see a difference using this .cab? (to the people that have used it and have seen a difference)

There has been many "tests" done on this by many ppl www.allshadow.com most agree that it "adds" 3 hours to your battery life..
You can try this yourself.. turn on your bluetooth and wifi and use your phone on a normal day... remember when you turned on the phone and remember the time you are done for the day and see how much battery life you have left...
then
next day install my cab and do the same.. turn on your bluetooth and wifi and use your phone on a normal day.. remember to start at same time of day you started to track the day before.. and end at the same time.. at the end of day at same time as day before.. look and see how much battery life you have left.. you should notice a difference...
although some say that this hasn't worked for them to where they see an improvement most have said that they have noticed an improvement as I have.

No problem I, as well as other im sure, look forward to entertain your results.
Simply touching basis on the results of my simple test I have conducted..
I have uploaded to the post the screen pics of the power consumption the battery underwent while it had the cab installed..
Please keep in mind that this test went for two days.. one day(thumnails) with the cab installed and the next day (look at the links) with the cab removed..
On both days I did the usual.. made calls and texts till my fingers got numb..
On both days I started at 0320 and on both days ended at or about 2123 (923pm) on the same day respectfully.
You will notice that the screen caps done withing the phone which had the cab installed that day shows I had a reasonable amount of battery life left at the end of the day..
On the second day which I didn't have the cab installed you will see on the pictures of the phone I took with my camera (windows crashed and it messed up my linux partition.. just fixed it ) it will show you that there is an exclamation mark where the battery meeter is and you will see the battery consumption lower..

Hey when I tried installing this .cab(and other cabs) after I flashed my dash to the Rogers rom it says "...cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permission." I assume I have to unlock something? I already tried SDA_ApplicationUnlock unless I didnt do it right? help please!

When I had the Dash I used Ricky's Kavana version ROM i believe it was V24, it didn't have any problems installing cabs.. and yes it seems like your ROM is still somehow locked..
do a search on the forum for networkunlock cab
here is the cab i was talking about.. it also helps to unlock your phone..
I am using the version 24 and it seems to work just fine even with out the application unlock program...
Here's my dumb question for the week... would this work on my moto Q9h??

After upgrading my exec to latest PdaViet rom I've noticed few annoying things.I looked for the solution but couldn't find any.
1)How to permanently turn off word completion suggestions?Every time I turn it off, after a soft reset is on again.
2)Green and red button on the side don't work properly. For example I can answer the phone call but can't hang up using them.
3)Has anyone found any solution to the decreasing memory?
I'm back to the universal forum after a year of using a Wizard so please forgive me if any of these issues have been addressed before.I've spent last two days reading the forum and couldn't find the answers.

I have voice command on my startup folder and I don't have the memory leak. Actually, I have a total of 8 apps already in there.
small menu (modified to launch from windows folder)
handy menu (modified to launch from windows folder)
spb services
voice cmd
poutlook
BTIcon
Start Menu Cleaner
X-CPU Scalar
I also have a total of 6 today plug-ins:
Phone Alarm Lite
SBSH Clock
Pocket Weather
iLauncher
Windows Media Plug-in
Calendar
The last time I performed a soft reset was yesterday after installing some apps and making a backup. I'd say I used my phone for 2 hours, listened to music for 1 hour, watched a short movie, browsed the net for 30 minutes, updated Eggress, and used Pocket X PDF. Tonight, I left active sync connected via BT so pocket weather will update every 3 hours. Always after a soft reset my total memory is 24.7MB, with all the activities I mentioned from above, my total memory was down to 19MB. I used MemMaid to Restore RAM and I recovered only 200kb. I then used Hibernate, and I got more than 1.5MB. So right now the total memory for the whole day of use is 21.1 MB.
I agree that some apps are memory hungry, but I always get a huge chunk back after Hibernate was activated. I always get back up to the upper 20 MB.

There is a peculiar problem in hermes(the best device ever made). Some times the phone led (green) blinks where as the display is off and it fails to start up even if u soft reset.
in the meanwhile if some one calls u he will get a ring but u wont be notified by ur device
this will make the person calling think u r avoiding him
this is the perfect solution tried on atlest 50 hermes
Plz install the following cab then switch off ur device then switch it on again and wolla the sleep to death problem is gone
Take care

Guess you forgot the cab?
Edit: Ok, here it is now ;-)
Anyone tried this???
To be honest: I find it a little hard to believe: threads all over the place about this SOD. All chiefs searching and searching for the solution.
And now in your first post you have the solution?
Hope it's its true...
Could you please give us some more information than "this is the perfect solution..."?
How does this patch work? any technical detail as to how this fixes the issue?
Great if it does but a little skeptical without any detail?
Cheers

SOD
IN my whole 6 months having my hermes i had never had SOD until i flashed the official dopod rom with matt kitchen. when I traced the source that SOD had came from it was a bad extended rom flash i done. This cause the device to go sleep after the screen time out, and also if i put the phone in idle mode i had to soft reset everytime.
i flashed an original operator t-mobile rom with the extended rom and all my problems went away.
My device has never been quicker no more SOD and battery life is superb with the new radio 1.47 after one whole day with normal use with 3g internet I am still on 70% battery life.
Now I have the perfect device and i think hermes WM6 crave and addiction will be thinned out as there is not much you can do now with the hermes as to wait for PROTON or fully integrated touchflo working ROM.
p.s
TRY FLASHED A AN ORIGINAL OPERATOR ROM WITH THE EXTENDED ROM YOU CAN USE ROMKOCH TO EXTRACT THOSE TWO AND FLASHED YOUR ROM BEFORE FLASHING WM6 AND GUANRANTEE YOU WILL SEE AND FEEL A MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE HERMES. THATS MY 2 cents
Running new official wm6 no more sod here so cannot verify that it works, but I had alot of sod in various other roms and if this is a solution the senior members/cooks should disect it and figure out what is the real cause of them and what exactly this fixes since they are not so forthcoming.
edit, wait reading it again it says that even soft reset fails to start up, if that is true they are not talking about any sod I have ever had soft reset does what it does resets the device and boots up.
There were many quick fixes trying to figure out the sod problem, sd card issues, active sync turning on etc, maybe this is a cab that does that.
Psiodon
I will try this
I have had SOD's several times a week.
Will try this and get back to you in a couple of days
I find that I have to SRS every morning after not touching the device all night. I have installed this cab and will report back tomorrow about the behavior of the device. It would be wonderful if this actually works. I am keeping an open mind about it.
I don't understand why you're being so mysterious about this nittin_sp. From what I can tell using IDA Pro (sorry, but I am reluctant to simply load something on faith based on "100% fix" claims alone), your patch simply sets the DWORD value "DisableAutoSuspend" in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\sys to a 1. Interestingly, on my TyTN running WM6 this is already set to a 1.
Sometimes its easier to just say this rather then create a cab. That way the rest of the community can work off your findings and perhaps explore this SOD issue better.
If your cab does more than this then please share your knowledge so we can further explore this hermes issue.
ok so I installed this. I've not had any BSOD's since doing so in a 24 hour period, when normally I'm getting them alteast every hour, sometimes more than 1 in an hour. Will report more soon. Would be good if you can post what this does though as I'd like the ROM cooks to build it in.

Hi,
Sorry if this is a dumb question - why do you need to extract the ROM and EXTENDED ROM after flashing the original operator ROM and then flash WM6?
Would it be the same if I just flash the official WM6 and reflash with the cooked WM6?
Thanks!
As promised, I am reporting my results. While I have no idea what this patch is doing, for the first time since I have had this device, I have not had a single failure. Coincidence? We will see in 24 hour.

I have not noticed any increase in battery drain, but I did not use the phone much on the weekend. The reality is, the only time I have the problem is when I do not touch the phone and it goes to sleep. When it wakes up, there is an apparent memory issue that SRS easily resolves. But, since I have installed this cab, the issue has not reappeared - yet.
yup over 24 hours and no issue... Its looking good.

Me too. Mine just failed about 5 minutes ago. Too bad.
This rom was working great, the wifi was starting not too work, then BANG, stuck on my windows boot screen etc, no active sync, but managed to hard reset. Too bad, was working great until then..the faint hearted should maybe wait until is tested further....
I had the same problem...but I am a strong believer in the Schap-Man's ROMs.
I am happy to say even though it was stopped at the Green start screen and Active Sync said it couldn't see it I was able to re-run his ROM and it found the phone and rebuilt it.
Not sure if you tried this yet or not but it sure helped me.
That's pretty wierd. Are u using full or lite, the latest 7-28, wwe...? A lot of others are using this rom. I'm not having any issues with 7- 28 wwe lite version.
BTW...you should have 'posted' this on Schap's rom thread.
You could also try a hard reset.
Same has happened to me quite a few times, now running Sleuth's ROM
Can't wait until Schap's brings out ver "b" or 4.x as his roms are usually excellent.
Hope this helps

I had the same problem today.... Hardreset needed (Full installation german)
I also had a problem last night. I had just removed the htc homeplug from my today screen when the whole thing froze. I did a SR and got stuck on the green loading screen, left it all night, still the same this morning, so after a quick search on xda-developers before work,
performed a HR and everything is back up and running, minus all my personal data. good job i use PPCBackup to back it up to my storage card.
Whats happening Schnaps..... ? this is most unusual, 3.30c was a dream to run.....
I have had this happen to me 5 times in the last week. I dont believe it is Schap's rom because it did the same thing to me with Black Satin. I believe the problem is software based.
This has been discussed many times in the thread dedicated to my 3.57a ROMs, it is due to some thrid party softwares which are not compatible with this build, but for now I'm not able to tell you what exactly is the source of this problem since I couldn't reproduce it. I'm using this ROM build since 2 weeks and made load of tests, I never had freeze on boot!
To recover your device maybe you can first install a software like SPB Plus I think which offers a failsafe mode, let me know if it works.
I am working on a new ROM and I hope it will definitively get ride of this problem! For now, if you experienced this problem and want a ROM which should be more stable than this one, I recommand you to flash the Schap's 3.54a as it is purely based on the official ROM.
Yea...
This ROM, with nothing else installed, killed the battery in standby in a much shorter time than normal. It also wouldn't turn back on after it killed the battery for an inordinate amount of time... I don't recommend it to anyone. Sorry.

Schaps for the record. I did a hard reset and and kept all my apps on my SD.
I have never had any problems, however I was playing around and although I cannot prove it, I have a feeling that SBSH's software could be the culprit. Although I doubt just that one.
I will have to change ROM's for the time being as I am leaving on a trip for Europe and can't afford to be down. But your ROM's are always among the best.
I Think some Guys have closed eyes or better sell there device. This ROM is great. Thanks to Schaps

I agree on this one also. With my push email for Activesync/Exchange and my Flexmail set up on two accounts pushed and my GPRS/EDGE connection always on during the day, I have about 40% at the end of the day, (over 16 hours), which is awesome considering i used to get around 4 hours and then i would be down to 20% on all other roms
very great ROM
I have been using the latest Schap's ROM with arabic language for about a week and never had a problem. It is very fast and stable.
MANY THANKS Schap
Cheers,
This is simply the best ROM I have ever used.
I just donated to you Schap.
Thank you.

So make a thread about it.
Still the best rom...
10 days with schap's 3.57a rom and never had a problem.
bricked?
I thought bricked phones wouldn't even recover from hard reset? It seems a bit harsh to cry "BRICKED" when that isn't the fact. Makes me think of the boy who cried wolf.
Schaps has done a very nice job. However, I felt it was a little slow responding. I'm very impatient. So I flashed the Black Satin ROM. The Black Satin worked for a day or so and then it got stuck on the Black Satin Screen.
I had SPL-1.04 so I used a special fix it ROM which is a 1.18 ROM. Even though I could not get to ActiveSync, I've found that the 1.18 Fix it ROM will flash from the bootloader. It takes about 25 min or more to flash and starts slow.
After flashing, you end up with a WM5 ROM.
Then I flashed the new Official WM6 Dopod ROM (It's a little cleaner than the AT&T ROM).
I've been running the Dopod ROM for a couple week. I've very happy with it. No offense to Schaps. The Schaps ROM has all the latest elements like Arcsoft MMS Composer 4.0.
I hope this helps. The 1.18 ROM can be found on or about page 18 of the Bricked Hermes thread.

I'm sorry if you had battery issues with my last ROM but if you read comments you would see that you are the only one who had such a problem, many people reported that those last ROMs have the best battery life and I have the same impression!
If you don't recommand my ROMs to anyone, so I have no reason to continue cooking for the community! People like you really don't motivate me to make so much efforts for people who only complain about my work instead of trying to give me clues to solve their problems.
I seem to be having a problem with my Alarm Clock for some reason and can't figure out what is happening.
Last week I had to get up @ 7:25AM so I tapped the clock on the home screen, set one alarm to 7:25 and one to 7:30 so I would not oversleep. Worked flawlessly all week so no worries there. This week, I don't really need to get up since I'm off from work, so I went to the home screen, tapped the clock and not only slid both sliders to "Off" for the alarms, I also made all alarm-clocks show 0:00.
Surprise surprise; for 7 days straight, my phone is waking me @ 7:25AM and then again @ 7:30AM.
Looked up the registry setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Clock and check the 3 registry-keys for all 3 alarms. All seem to be set to NOT wake me at all.
Getting quite tired of this; anyone has any idea to how to solve?
What ROM?
Have you tried rebooting after you made the change?
WinMo is quite dumb at times.
Forgot to mention indeed but using the Energy-ROM.
Rebooted my phone both after changing the alarm-time and after changing/checking the registry. Both failed coz I woke up 7:25AM again today...

Sorry, I haven't used WinMo in ages. Random weird issues like this drove me batty. Android has gotten to the point where (for me) I can use it daily. Good luck.
You may just need to clear your notification queue. This has been a long running bug in WM since PPC 2003 was out. The simplest way by far is to use SK Tools. If you are a WM user who doesn't own this, then something is wrong with you!
The other, much longer, option is detailed by JVH3 in THIS POST.

Well, not completely without a hitch; I started with cleaning out the registry. Then I disabled all push-updates to the phone (weather, mail, gps mapping and so on). Set all alarm-clocks to 0:00 and rebooted the device a few times. Next morning, the alarm went off again so I rebooted it again.
And ever since, not had this problem again... And yes, people saying to ditch WM, I might but in a month time I can get a new/free phone from my provider but unsure if I will go for Android or WM7.5.

I posted the known solutions a few posts back. SKTools is the simpler one of the two. If you can't get your hands on a copy of it, there was an alternative in that same post. All you have to do is clear your notification queue.
Hi all, heres the story:
At first, I thought I was loosing my mind, I kept checking my phone and the WiFi was always off, which is weird for me.
Anyway I turn it back on and go about my day, check half an hour later its off.
I was like "im sure I turned that back on" anyway same again half an hour later.
So I was watching it this dinner, and low and behold I watch both my WiFi and my network connections restart themselves like someone was switching them on and off, but the WiFi didn't re-connect and stayed off, wereas data re-connected ok.
It goes on ! I then realised that my phone was calling people by itself, which is also weird as theres no buttons to accidently press to call people? (ITS TOUCHSCREEN!!!)
Anyway, today I recieved a text off someone asking me why the heck I'd just sent them map co-ordinates.
So someone or my phone is sending people map co-ordinates....
The ONLY thing I can think of is Cerberus, could Cerberus be causing this?
Is this the phone telling me its on its way out?
Any solutions?
THANKS ALL !
You have kind of answered your own question. Just uninstall Cerberus and see if it fixes it.

Yay yet another completely useless response thanks but I said could it be Cerberus?
Does any1 else have a suggestion I could gain something from?
As stated before, I will try removing Cerberus but would like any information or suggestions please.
Malware? Maybe you installed an app that's malicious.
Hickory, Dickory, Dox...Snowflake approves of my HOX....
try and remember what apps you installed around the time this started to happen and work your way backwards

Thanks for all your reponses, thats the thing I'm really picky over apps, and havent really installed an app for months on my HOX, as I generally do everything on my N7 now.
UPDATE:
I un-installed Cerberus, cleared cache and tried to find any left behind data(wasnt any?)
Also deleted my device off the Cerberus app website
LOW AND BEHOLD THIS MORNING CONNECTIONS TURN OFF AND ON?!?!?!
What can be doing this? I only have apps from trusted Vendors such as Natwest, Vodaphone, couple of games, Tasker etc :/
Any ideas?
Can it be Tasker? It's supposed to automate tasks. Maybe there are some causing all this. Try freezing it.

I also thought it could be tasker, but Tasker has been setup for months and months, and not changed for atleast 2/3 months+
I checked tasker, and theres only 3 profiles, which have nothing to do with any connections.
They're profiles such as, plug headphones in and music player appears.
PS - Cannot freeze, stock and un-rooted.
My mate had similar issues with his SGS2. Upon examining the phone I discovered an app called Blackmart Alpha, I discovered it was a program which downloads cracked/patched apps. Did a hard reset of the phone and all was fixed, well not all, he was very pi$$ed with me for losing a heap of apps.

I know where your coming from mate, but this is not me.
I enjoy supporting the developers that make apps, and if that means buying a paid version of an app then so be it.
I don't download any dodgey things, all my downloads are through the play store.
Bah this is pickling me
Latest thing I downloaded was quadrant benchmark (week ago?)

Try hard reset then load your apps one at a time you will soon discover the culprit.

Nobody, not even myself, likes rebuilding systems from scratch. There are however benefits like having a clean system with no paranoia to name a few.

Decided I'm gonna Factory Reset, as that's what HTC would tell me anyway, so may aswell.
Also its nice to do sometimes, like having your room painted isn't it, feel all fresh and happy haha.
(Blagging myself to do it here)
So yeah, Ima get it done
(Tempted to finally, after 3 years of Android, to download a launcher and use something other than sense )
