Few crossbow issues - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

After upgrading my exec to latest PdaViet rom I've noticed few annoying things.I looked for the solution but couldn't find any.
1)How to permanently turn off word completion suggestions?Every time I turn it off, after a soft reset is on again.
2)Green and red button on the side don't work properly. For example I can answer the phone call but can't hang up using them.
3)Has anyone found any solution to the decreasing memory?
I'm back to the universal forum after a year of using a Wizard so please forgive me if any of these issues have been addressed before.I've spent last two days reading the forum and couldn't find the answers.

Have you tried disabling the world suggestion and sof reset?
Also I know that it starts with 28MB but try to check it after one day of using without a soft reset...

The only thing in my startup folder is Pocket Outlook...
With the world suggesting, I just want to turn it off permanently. But everytime after soft reset is back on again

Sorry, duplicate post.

I have voice command on my startup folder and I don't have the memory leak. Actually, I have a total of 8 apps already in there.
small menu (modified to launch from windows folder)
handy menu (modified to launch from windows folder)
spb services
voice cmd
poutlook
BTIcon
Start Menu Cleaner
X-CPU Scalar
I also have a total of 6 today plug-ins:
Phone Alarm Lite
SBSH Clock
Pocket Weather
iLauncher
Windows Media Plug-in
Calendar
The last time I performed a soft reset was yesterday after installing some apps and making a backup. I'd say I used my phone for 2 hours, listened to music for 1 hour, watched a short movie, browsed the net for 30 minutes, updated Eggress, and used Pocket X PDF. Tonight, I left active sync connected via BT so pocket weather will update every 3 hours. Always after a soft reset my total memory is 24.7MB, with all the activities I mentioned from above, my total memory was down to 19MB. I used MemMaid to Restore RAM and I recovered only 200kb. I then used Hibernate, and I got more than 1.5MB. So right now the total memory for the whole day of use is 21.1 MB.
I agree that some apps are memory hungry, but I always get a huge chunk back after Hibernate was activated. I always get back up to the upper 20 MB.

HELP!!! TYTN put to sleep and wont wake up unless reset

Hi, i have a softbank verision of the tytn....running faria version of wm6....now when i switch it off to sleep.....i cant switch it back up to wake the phone up....i have to poke the reset button to start again.....anyone know the reason to this.....this also happen to my wizard before.....
Hi
I've had exactly same prob running Black Shadow
I believe mine was caused through adding some themes onto device that it didnt like - once removed all was well. Have you added any ?
Try removing them all then adding them gradually - do the same if running any 3rd party apps.
regards
Jon
Experienced exactly the same issue with the latest Shadow and radios both 1.40 and 1.43. Hang-ups were happening only after any media/audio playing application was ran before (tested with Pocket Player and WMP), in 10 out of 10 cases Hermes wasn't coming back from sleep. The culprit was (tadah) Bluetooth Explorer, after getting rid of the bugger I haven't experienced any freezes or hung-ups at all and my device is rock solid. Just the heads up.

i wonder if its any of my app that is also causing the problem....
I think is one problem with this name STD (sleep to death). Read about this on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-256494.html and I post the file. Read also this:
- Backlight light can't turn on after sleep mode
- STD
About DisablesyncSchedule:In WM5/6, activesync connects automatically time to time (even if device is turned off), and would cause STD, specially with SD Card inserted.
DisablesyncSchedule.cpf Install procedure:
Copy DisablesyncSchedule.cpf to your device
Run DisablesyncSchedule.cpf (using File Explorer on your PPC). It will show:
"Device Settings Changed".
Then Soft-Reset and verify if the STD is gone...
I hope help you

hmmm....dont know if it work....i click the file....only flashes....no other indicator that it ran.......
dont think it work....cuz it just die out again
It will show:
"Device Settings Changed".
Click OK on the message (to go out... and another OK on the X button) then Soft-Reset.
I have in the past this problem with WM5 (Eten M600 device) and with HTC WM5 but with this method no more STDs on this devices.
Look if your battery is under 20%. With the ROM you flash I have an STD also and I see my battery is low when I do a Soft-Reset. So... when charged up >20% never more an STD.
Regards
*** maybe you need try a CUSTEL ROM (cingular or standard version) or Schaps ROM no problems for me with this two. Now I stay on Schaps 3.30b WWE but I wait for the upgrades Schap's and Custel (maybe to this sunday). I try also Faria ROM but I have problems (I dont remember) but I remove on the day after... like Shadow (very nice the aspect but for me no video-call and I dont like the combination sms/mms so... I reflash with Schap's and I wait to compare the new upgrades promised for this week-end).

dont do a Soft-Resets... LOL try this... upon click on the file I post... move to your sms inbox...one click on the message to open until display the message "device settings..." then click on the OK button. Now... dont do a Soft-Reset but... press 3 or more seconds on the Power-off button of your device until appear one warning "Power will be turned off, and you may lose data if.... Do you want to continue?", Press YES. Your device power-off and save your settings.
ok... wait a litle and press the power button 2 or 3 seconds and you see the startup OS (like you put your stylus on the whole when you do a Soft-Reset) but is different.
My friend... make one more try and if no have a good result now... buy another device, LOL, sorry... change your ROM.
I hope @SaarAvigour say something about your experience upon a Soft-Reset.
will try....i flash the custel rom.....havent std on me yet.....but....i think all device will have the same problem if microsoft dont fix this.....lol.....i just bought this tytn....used it for less than a week.....
std is kinda gone.....std on me this morning.....but less often now.....another problem now is that the phone freeze on me if i click too fast or sometime when syncing with the comp....have to be very careful now.......

Self Reboot? Food for thought

Was just wondering - with all this memory leak issues cropping up - not that I have complaints 'bout it - as mine barely goes down below 20MB...but still...
I would like to have a feature/scheduler - which would reboot my Orbit - when :
a) It reaches a threshold - like 15MB memory or lesser !
b) maybe a time bound schedule - like 1am every morning !
Is there any software I can use to do this?
Nice thought but there is an issue.
What bout pin request? After reboot you have to enter pin for mobile to work. If you don't, you will have no mobile.
I do not think is clever to disable pin request either.

I've heard that one of the backup softwares (maybe SPB) can do a scheduled SR. You can set to 1am to do a SR every day.
You can do a scheduled backup with SPB Backup everyday at 1am.
After that SPB Backup automatical restarts your device...
I dont use a Pin - so thats not a problem....
Well my soft reset issue seems to be resolved...I can use psShutXP to set a Timer schedue and it reboots fine....
Now to find a solution whereby - when the memory goes below a certain threshold - it reboots ! that would be a killer !
Will liv with the self reboot - once a day for now...

As far as i could see, you have to enter the schedule evertime again....?

I just tested and the setting went off after reset ! Back to square one !
Well my problem resolved...the scheduler is in XDA-Dev site itself !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294575
This utility RunEveryDay.exe can execute any exe file based on schedules defined...quite appropriate for my case...
I set up a couple of schedules and they executed all in order one by one...the softreset you will need a different exe which does not ask for a prompt...and is attached...

Hey dev...looks nice...i was also searching yesterday, but the one i've found did not work....thanks for sharing the link!
I have been using SKSchema, a commercial app, to soft reset my artemis at 6.00am every morning. It is a really cool app but a bit hardcore for my ability. You can make it enter your pin or watch for any event, I think even a memory threshold, but you have to use scripts, which I am finding a bit hard, you guys would not. It can even emulate screen taps or keyboard entries to a schedule. I sound like a crap salesman, But it would be good for my karma if I persuaded someone to buy it!

Try shutting down the system by hilding the power button. This should allow the system to save all changes to registry and free up resources. If you hard reset, it's like resetting your PC, you loose all unsaved data. You should try it once!

I just tried the same. I guess I never noticed this before, since I always Soft Reset by software. However, if you Soft Reset with stylus, the device lock password is not lost. Wierd!!!

At least part of the problem was solved by the replaced XIP part...
Hello.
That's true. This is a bad thing. I've tried with SMS and Email, and I've lost both. I haven't had any problem with email counts, passwords, ...
FInixNOver, just a question. Have you got the same problem using Soft-Reset by program ?
Thanks
Ok. I've done a test. And that's true if you do a soft-reset by hardware just after you receive an email, sms or mms. But, time after (I don't know when) all data are saved. I think we just have to advertise this fact to the users. We can't do anything else.

some rom has still the lost of settings issue
Some rom like the last pdaviet rom, has still the issue of loosing Mail password, connection settings and luetooth paired devices informations on reset.
You are right, there is less and less rom which has this bug, but there or some.
Unfoirtunately for me, the rare ones which have this pb, are the rare ones where the A2DP is working fine and is not too much solwing down the phone.

Soft Reset can be done in 2 ways: with the stylus or by software.
The power button is used to shutdown the device.
If the device stops responding or hangs, you may not be able to shut it down or reset it by software.

Very good news. Happy to know that some knowledgeable guy will look for A2DP.
I don't have technical knowledge in this domain but had done a lot of test.
There is 3 categories of rom:
1- There is some rom which do not even has the A2DP sound with good quality. Sometimes they can be fixed by reducing the max bitpool to 30and installing sleuth A2DP fix. Some times I didn't succeed to fixe the sound A2DP quality.Sound is very skipping. For example the Akeo rom is in this category.
2- Some of them have good quality but when A2DP and music is runinng, you can't use anything else. For example the netdrg or your rom are in this category. sound is very good but impossible to use music thru A2DP and at same time, use tomtom.
3- Rom where sound is not skipping or at least skipping very rarely and the cpu is still available for doing something else in the same time. The only rom in this case are pdaviet roms and the WM6 Schaps rom.
some example of mesure of time (in second) to lunch tomtom when A2DP is runing:

Save Battery Life registry into cab fix

In light of this post Battery drainage tips&tricks How to Increase Your Battery Life I have created a cab with the registry suggestions..it is the same cab that has been around at the Juno section of XDA and the same one that is on allshadow.com both phones share similar Smartphone registries and so the cab should work just fine on the Excalibur.
Here is the download SaveBatteryHTC_Juno.cab
Its a simple step... you install and that is it.. it will just work.. if for what ever reason you don't like it simply uninstall it and your registries should go back to what they where before you installed the cab.
Great post, I would recommend people try this because I tried this myself and noticed much improvement in battery. Also, its a .cab, therefore, you can always uninstall if your phone gets unstable for any reason. Hope this helps everyone and thanks again for this post.
I just installed it, i'll try it out. Thanks for the post.
im going to try dis out cuz i need it
I just installed in on my Excalibur, what exactly does the cab do, I'm just curious

Did you read the first post completely? there is a link to another post of the registry entries info..
Haha its so funny how people install things that they do not know what it does on their phone... Anyways it seems to work excellent. Thanks for this.
I know what this does
but can someone tell me if they actually saw the difference, and i know it basically disables Activesync from syncing automatically but what if Activesync does not sync automatically (atleast in my case, I don't see anything on the task manager)
can someone better explain how it does what it does and correct me if i'm wrong.
on the other hand, my battery sucks - it dies with 1/2 day of use i.e. all i do is make phone calls/maybe use palringo but checks email every 5 mins but now i changed that setting to 2 hours so it doesn't use data that often but so far, it dies pretty soon.
Would I see a difference using this .cab? (to the people that have used it and have seen a difference)

There has been many "tests" done on this by many ppl www.allshadow.com most agree that it "adds" 3 hours to your battery life..
You can try this yourself.. turn on your bluetooth and wifi and use your phone on a normal day... remember when you turned on the phone and remember the time you are done for the day and see how much battery life you have left...
then
next day install my cab and do the same.. turn on your bluetooth and wifi and use your phone on a normal day.. remember to start at same time of day you started to track the day before.. and end at the same time.. at the end of day at same time as day before.. look and see how much battery life you have left.. you should notice a difference...
although some say that this hasn't worked for them to where they see an improvement most have said that they have noticed an improvement as I have.

No problem I, as well as other im sure, look forward to entertain your results.
Simply touching basis on the results of my simple test I have conducted..
I have uploaded to the post the screen pics of the power consumption the battery underwent while it had the cab installed..
Please keep in mind that this test went for two days.. one day(thumnails) with the cab installed and the next day (look at the links) with the cab removed..
On both days I did the usual.. made calls and texts till my fingers got numb..
On both days I started at 0320 and on both days ended at or about 2123 (923pm) on the same day respectfully.
You will notice that the screen caps done withing the phone which had the cab installed that day shows I had a reasonable amount of battery life left at the end of the day..
On the second day which I didn't have the cab installed you will see on the pictures of the phone I took with my camera (windows crashed and it messed up my linux partition.. just fixed it ) it will show you that there is an exclamation mark where the battery meeter is and you will see the battery consumption lower..

No problem at all..
Hey when I tried installing this .cab(and other cabs) after I flashed my dash to the Rogers rom it says "...cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permission." I assume I have to unlock something? I already tried SDA_ApplicationUnlock unless I didnt do it right? help please!

When I had the Dash I used Ricky's Kavana version ROM i believe it was V24, it didn't have any problems installing cabs.. and yes it seems like your ROM is still somehow locked..
do a search on the forum for networkunlock cab
here is the cab i was talking about.. it also helps to unlock your phone..
I am using the version 24 and it seems to work just fine even with out the application unlock program...
Here's my dumb question for the week... would this work on my moto Q9h??

[Q] Alarm clock broken?

I seem to be having a problem with my Alarm Clock for some reason and can't figure out what is happening.
Last week I had to get up @ 7:25AM so I tapped the clock on the home screen, set one alarm to 7:25 and one to 7:30 so I would not oversleep. Worked flawlessly all week so no worries there. This week, I don't really need to get up since I'm off from work, so I went to the home screen, tapped the clock and not only slid both sliders to "Off" for the alarms, I also made all alarm-clocks show 0:00.
Surprise surprise; for 7 days straight, my phone is waking me @ 7:25AM and then again @ 7:30AM.
Looked up the registry setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Clock and check the 3 registry-keys for all 3 alarms. All seem to be set to NOT wake me at all.
Getting quite tired of this; anyone has any idea to how to solve?
What ROM?
Have you tried rebooting after you made the change?
WinMo is quite dumb at times.
Forgot to mention indeed but using the Energy-ROM.
Rebooted my phone both after changing the alarm-time and after changing/checking the registry. Both failed coz I woke up 7:25AM again today...

Sorry, I haven't used WinMo in ages. Random weird issues like this drove me batty. Android has gotten to the point where (for me) I can use it daily. Good luck.
You may just need to clear your notification queue. This has been a long running bug in WM since PPC 2003 was out. The simplest way by far is to use SK Tools. If you are a WM user who doesn't own this, then something is wrong with you!
The other, much longer, option is detailed by JVH3 in THIS POST.

Ditch WM .
Rebooting was obviously a bust...
Late update but it seems to have solved itself...
Well, not completely without a hitch; I started with cleaning out the registry. Then I disabled all push-updates to the phone (weather, mail, gps mapping and so on). Set all alarm-clocks to 0:00 and rebooted the device a few times. Next morning, the alarm went off again so I rebooted it again.
And ever since, not had this problem again... And yes, people saying to ditch WM, I might but in a month time I can get a new/free phone from my provider but unsure if I will go for Android or WM7.5.

I posted the known solutions a few posts back. SKTools is the simpler one of the two. If you can't get your hands on a copy of it, there was an alternative in that same post. All you have to do is clear your notification queue.
