I've flashed many ROMs from many chefs, so (for me) I think this was more of an issue on my PC (ie. this is not a ROM bug)
I've got:
- Windows XP
- SP2
- fully doctored/multilated by corporate IT installing who knows what modifications to meet their security concerns
what I would see is that my Activesync connection would drop at seemingly random times.. sometimes I'd stay connected for hours, sometimes only minutes.
Sometimes I could just unplug/replug and it would re-connect. Other times it seemed to crash something running on the PC and I'd have to reboot, and often the reboot was not clean (since some driver crashed/hung)
My solution? most ROMs seem to have
Settings->Connections->USB-to-PC->Advanced Network Functionality
on... I turned it off. I haven't had a random disconnect, nor PC crash, in over a week now.
This fixes my issues too - thankfully... was ready to smash it. haha - till I found this fix from another thread..
Definately a good thing to know though.. and you dont have to search through lots of posts to find it - yet
Thank you for that. It has fixed my drama aswell.
This has been a bug in WM6.0 too. I always have to uncheck that in order to sync with the work pc. Never had any issues with home pc though!
Unfortunately, I'm finding that with the 20270 based ROMS (CRC 12.4 and PDA Corner V16), I can no longer use Activesync when I un-check the box. I get the error message:
Connection Not Valid:
Cannot open the connection '`57600 Default'. This connection is no longer valid or does not exist. Select a different connection and try again.
Click to collapse
So in order to use these ROMs I have to leave the setting checked and now am losing AS connections randomly and hosing up my desktop PC I have not been able to convince either chef to look into it much.
i had the same problem and softreset solved it....

Please don't think I haven't both soft-reset the PPC and rebooted the PC. It does not the problem for those of us that have it.

Bug?.. I'm not sure... seems like a FEATURE
The same situation: under W2k (at work) preferable is uncheking, but at home (XP SP3) - works with on-checked without any problems.

No worries.. I realize this is not a problem that affects many people, since most folks are ok to leave Advanced enabled, and its more important to fix the bugs that affect more people... (and chef's have to have a life too)
I think I have found a solution: from http://www.xdaflameusers.com/viewtopic.php?pid=6202#p6202
change
HKCU\ControlPanel\Comm\Cnct = `57600 Default (string)
to
HKCU\ControlPanel\Comm\Cnct = `USB (string)
EDIT: I found another post suggesting to not use a `.. but the ` seems to work for me.. so try it both ways if it still gives anyone trouble.
Now it seems to work.

Same here, but I did have trouble using AS with the advanced mode turned off. At least the first sync anyway. I turned advanced mode back off and now it seems to be working fine. Odd!

I only started getting the AS error message with the 20270 ROMs that came out recently (when I unchecked the "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" box.. as I had been doing on all recent ROMs)
So my original hint (to uncheck the box) broke on these ROMs (for me)
I could always check the box and AS, but that was not stable (for me). I did try and doind several syncs and then unchecking the box to see if it would work then, but it would not.
What error message do you guys get on the PPC when AS fails?
Update, the "fix" (in post #10) allows me to A-S With ANF disabled, but I am losing my connection now (after random periods), just as I do when ANF is enabled
just something wonky about these 20270 ROMs in this particular area.
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Comm\Cnct = `57600 Default (string)
to
HKCU\ControlPanel\Comm\Cnct = `USB (string)
work for me

IIRC, none - simple AS get disconnected.

So there are 2 problems that I mixed in to this thread
a) folks get random disconnects when using ANF for AS. The 'fix' for this was to disable ANF. For ROMs previous to 20270 this cured all my ills. I got a rock solid AS connection that never dropped randomly and did not make my PC cross-its-eyes as would happen when AS dropped when ANF was enabled.
b) but with ROM 20270, the 'fix' for a) stopped working. When I disabled Advanced Network Functionality, I got the error message about 57600 default... the only way I could AS was to leave ANF enabled. A partial 'fix' for this was to make the registry change. However I am finding that while it will allow me to AS when ANF disabled, this connection will randomly disconnect... tho so far it may not make my PC quite as wonky when it does.
Hope that summarizes things at least from my end.

Some little questions...
1) What are these modifications?
2) What are these registry settings (from raphael)? Share please.
3) Connection is stable using W2k on BB? (using XP here is no problem - by me )
In addition to problems by zim2dive:
- possible reason is wrong registry key (`57600) in ROMs, that are inaccurate ported from other devices.
And - chiao! Next week I'll be on vacations and completely without Internet!

Ok I searched on the forums hard for this one so forgive me if this has already been answered. I see to find people with Windows Mobile 6 and Windows XP or people with Windows Vista but Windows Mobile 5.
Since I'm running Vista, I use Windows Mobile Device Center instead of ActiveSync. The functionality of the program is fine, so I have no complaints. However, to upgrade ROMs or anything...I use an XP Machine as it seems Vista seems to think the device disconnects upon the loading of the bootloader. I've read somewhere in the forums that there is a driver update to fix that, but after applying...WMDC doesn't work properly...so I'd save the trouble and use a machine that has XP running instead until a better fix comes along.
My 8525 came stock with a program called Wireless Modem as of ROM 1.34.502.1 shipped, which seems to have been replaced by Internet Sharing.
The Wireless Modem application worked fine after setting up the modem with the Vista driver also found in the forums. I also tested the bluetooth connection and set that up to tether as well and it worked fine.
I finally decided to upgrade after days of reading and I tried to use the Wireless Modem feature. I noticed it wasn't there and tried to use Internet Sharing. The layouts are similar...but when I hook up the phone under USB, my computer doesn't even recognize it as a new device (modem) as I did uninstall the last driver.
When connected via Bluetooth, it recognized the device and installed the driver as Windows Mobile-based device support by default. Under services, only Active Sync is only available...as opposed to before when I had Dial-Up networking available. When I set up a PAN, the computer and device are connected together, however I do get the same problem as some others with a connection that is limited or local only. So the tethering is unsuccessful.
I recently upgraded my Cingular 8525 to WM6BE v1.2 (Cingular Edition)...which I can't seem to find in the threads anymore. I'm also running Radio 1.38.00.11...but I don't think that would affect anthing. I reverted back to my shipped ROM to check for alternate settings that might have helped...then I was going to revert back to WM6BE v1.2 Cingular...then I realized I accidently deleted that custom ROM and I couldn't find it anymore. I was stuck putting on the WM6BE v1.2 on the sticky thread after which forced me to reinstall the data settings/keyboard fix from the cab files. Haven't had problems with them but I did like that customized ROM for Cingular a little better considering I really like "clean" ROMs.
Anyway, I'm attempted to connect via MEdia Net AND Cingular GPRS settings provided by the Cingular Data Settings cab floating around the forums. It works fine it seems...it just seems like the problem is getting Vista to recognize the device as a modem, or at least having modem capabilities.
I guess thats as detailed as I can get right now. Hopefully someone can help now ^_^
You are right. I tried updating rom on Vista's Windows mobile Device and end up damaging my xda2i. The device displays "USB" when connected to cradle and "Serial v1. 01" when not. Do you have a solution apart from upgrading?
Solution on Vista
Hello Guys, I'm running vista too and I bothered 2 hours before getting it done.
So this is one of the "Step-By-Step Instruction Guides".
0. Extract the attached file into a directory of your choice
1. Disconnect your Device
2. Goto Settings > Connections and choose "USB To PC"
3. Uncheck the option there
4. Reconnect your Device
5. Goto your DeviceManager and search for "HTC USB Sync", double click it and choose Drivers
6. Click on the "Update Driver"-Button and choose search on the computer
7. Click "Choose a driver from list..."
8. Click the button to the right (Open from Media)
9. Choose any INF File from the extracted ones.
10. You're done, upgrade your ROM.
11. To Rollback drivers, use the "Automatic Update" instead of Manually selecting (it will choose the newest ones)
12. Recheck the option of step 2 unless you're planning to use the slow variant.
Have Phun and Good Luck
Have I understand right? With this tweak We will be able to applied ROM upgrades to our HERMES from windows VISTA?
Confirmed.
I did already update my ROM in this way.
Cheers,
soniX
EDIT:
Please use HardSPL or something equal to be sure the risk is at a minimum.
And I can not be held responsible for any damage to your Hermes or your Brain
But as I said, for me it worked perfectly, remember to Restore the new Drivers or the Mobile Device Center will not work.
Hmm I don't think you people understand what I was asking...
I already know about that method to update with Vista...I actually tried it yesterday and for some reason it didn't work so I just use an XP Machine for now...but I was just asking merely about TETHERING.
I already have the ROMs of my choice loaded on my device.
In simpler words: How do I go about tethering (Running Internet Sharing) when my computer does not recognize the device as a modem...through USB or Bluetooth.
I'm running WM6BE v1.2 and Windows Vista Ultimate.
Maybe its Wm6BE, but I have used all the other roms (xda live, des, lsvw) and all I do is plug in the usb, start internet sharing and it connects no problem. Have to start internet sharing before wmdc starts. Internet Sharing works great, better than wireless modem. I was not able to use the WM6be due to problems with sbp pocket plus. I am currently using XDA live .30 and Vista Ultimate.
Does the technique in the post above work??
Also once that procedure is carried out can rom updates and RUU programs be used exactly the same as on XP??
If anyone is available to do some screenshots for me for an updated GUIDE, please PM me (i dont use or have a copy of vista )
I enjoy the community so I think I'll do my best to contribute to it. When I get the chance, I'll try to make a guide with screenshots on using Windows Vista and loading WM6.
I'm going to try to switch to LVSW build with his new update today and I'll see how that works out.
I REALLY like the one custom build someone made (I forgot who) with the Cingular connection settings defaulted from the Cingular Shipped ROMs...I wish I can find those files again.
It seems like the people developing the new Cingular data connection cab files are really working hard at getting the default settings as if they just bought their phoes straight from Cingular.
I'll let you know how LVSW goes with Internet Sharing and Windows Vista

Also, I've seen this guide posted twice...yours missing one step where I was supposed to "End WMDC.exe Process in Task Manager"
I still can't get Vista to run RUU...do you run the RUU with your device in Bootloader? I think I even tried that once and and still couldn't get it to work with the older Driver.
Not exactly sure what I'm missing or doing wrong...but its definitely after I install the driver. It acts as if I didn't install it at all, even if I check in drive details and its all correct in there.
i tried the method above for upgrading in vista and it didnt work for me...
what am i missing?
Where is it stopping?
Because I did it once, it has to work.
Where is it stopping? - At the bootloader (LSD-Screen with psychedelic colors ?) - or before ?
I will do an upgrade in the afternoon again and this time i will record ALL of my steps.
Hopefully I'll find the recept for the cake.
Cheers,
soniX
Yea it gets to the bootloader screen and I'm stuck as if I never loaded the AS4.5 drivers.
Sorry, too less time today for a screenshot-decorated guide.
I just upgraded my device again (only to proove it does work).
So here is again a guide, which differs to the first one.
I guess there are two ways to do this...
Prequesites:
- Search my previous post and download the USBAS.zip-File
- Extract it into a directory...
- You'll need your device and it has to be connected, too
The first approach:
Change the Serial-Driver
- On the device click Start > Settings, choose "Connections" there and click on "USB to PC"
- uncheck the item for "Enhanced..." there
- Click on OK.
- Now goto your Device Manager.
- Search an Item named "HTC USB Sync".
- Right-click it and choose "Update Driver".
- Choose the second option, then select to choose manually
- Select the directory where the zip has been extracted to and choose any inf file.
Start the Update-Tool
- After the driver-update you need to set the device back to RNDIS-Mode (follow Step 1 and recheck the option)
- Verify that you're running the correct drivers for the RNDIS-Device, the date in the device-manager has to be around January, 17th 2007.
- Start the ROM-Upgrade.
- It should work now.
For me it did not really work to switch from RNDIS to USB-Serial drivers in my localized (thanks bepe for the great work!) german WM6.
So if you have a problem with the first method use this one.
- Start your Device-Manager, we have to be very fast.
- Start the ROM-Upgrade as you've probably done before
- If the bootloader starts up, you'll notice a device/dettached,device/attached sound, this is your sign, goto to you Device-Manager.
- Search for the Entry "HTC USB Sync".
- Update drivers like it's written above.
- If it won't work and the upgrade tool dies with "cannot connect", don't worry. Reset your device (soft) and try again, this time you should not need to update the drivers.
Cheers,
soniX
I'm using XP and a USB cable. USed to work OK before upgrading to WM6 Black but now I get Error 797 on the PC saying modem not found or busy!

For Vista guide with screen shots, so far i've only flashed HardSPLv4 from inside Vista, but it worked i'm still plucking up enough courage to do a full flash of WM6
Nic
I do this (for Hard-SPL, don't know for other):
I have made what it was written on modaco (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=252977), but
1) I was not in bootloader.
2) While active sync try to connect (but it does not succeed because they are not its driver) I've stopped WMDC.EXE and now hermes is connected.
3) NOW I do a flash.
If there is something that is not clear you say it to me.
My method also works (for me)
Can somebody confirm that my method works for vista?
soniX
I'm based also to your method, but it would be more complete to integrate it with the method on modaco.
It seems that most people didn't get the point of this thread...weird considering I put TETHERING in the subject line. However, it is nice to see people trying to help others with Vista to flash. I have the same problem myself but access to machines with XP nullify my real need for flashing on Vista for now.
I'm about to reinstall LVSW's latest ROM set for the billionth time and I'll try out tethering on that. It seems that people who were on WM6BE were having a hard time with Internet Sharing. I'll load a new rom and let you know how it goes.
Hello Everyone,
There is a very excellent forum topic for Linux on the Universal (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251584). I was wondering if we could start a similar one for the Blue Angel. I recently installed Opie II (Qtopia) on my Blue Angel from http://www.linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/ and it looks good, I was just wondering what the status was.
Thank you,

Hmmm, this looks interesting.
So from my reading of the Universal thread and the scant txt files I have found do I take it you copy the Haret and image files to the root of your sd card and then run haret?
Looks easy... too easy!

I have tried to start linux with different linux images on my blue angel but without success.
Maybe linux couldn't run with windows mobile 6 pro on blueangel ?
harat cans start but X-Windows (and Opie ...) freezes. Does anyone have the same experiences ?
Which files do I need to copy to the SD card? There is a .rar.gz file, do I need to extract that file in my computer? Thanks.
i haved used some images from here:
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/htcblueangel/
zImage-2.6.21-hh20-r6-htcblueangel.bin
and it works.
But there is no wifi driver loaded.
My question is how can i insert/load wifi driver to this image ?

it works.
But linux seems slower as windows mobile.

The same happens to me, but phone works OK for this build whith GPE "http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/an.../htcblueangel/"

i already tried booting with haret while playing a sound or maybe its a wm6 problem?
maybe anyone knows?!

newest gpe based soft doesn't allow calling. Starting gomunicator it says 'cannot open connection to phone module in /dev/ttyS0: permission denied'.
I've been trying and searching for the correct /dev/ttySx, but none of them seem to work.
Anyone using a working gpe setup, where gomunicator works?
Can you let me know where to set what config option?

/dev/ttyS0 is correct for the GSM
You need to apply some patches and changes that you can see at http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/BlueAngelHowtoInstallLinux , section "Some setup hints"
See below ...
The phone speaker will be silent during calls until you set the mixer settings of "Output Mux" to "Mixer", either via alsamixer or by using a proper /etc/asound.state file (eg. http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/angstrom-ba/asound.state).
Even with a correct /etc/asound.state file you have to restore that state before running the phone application (tested with gomunicator):
/etc/init.d/alsa-state start
It seems that after a suspend/resume cycle the mixer value needs to be set again.
If you dont run gpe as root (by creating a user on the first startup), you have no access to the serial device /dev/ttyS0. fix this by adding group "dialout" to addgroups line of /etc/gpe/gpe-login.conf so that it contains:
addgroups audio,video,dialout
Please, let us to know if it works for you.
I'm considering to prepare an installation with the Albrecht's patches ( http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/angstrom-ba/images/htcblueangel/ ) and put it on some server. It's the BA Linux that worked better for me.
Searching posts, it seems that cr2 and goxboxlive has more experience on this port.
Hi,
I just upload a new version with phone support + some tools. Phone support is still in developpement ( phone call/receive works, but only sms receive works ) GPRS is working too. Just change your current GPRS profile password and DNS.
I'll try to upload later an image like it is done on HTC Unviersal with an autoinstall.
http://linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/htcblueangel/Qtopia.
Notice that actually this works fine on Blueangel Board ID 5.
To remember what is your board id please look here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelBoardIDs or just start linux image and look at cat /proc/cpuinfo.
And to finish Qtopia is faster than Windows Mobile
Good luck

Hi Fabrice.

I have some questions: when I make/receive calls I can ear the other part but I need to cry to the microphone if I want that the other part ears me. You noticed something similar?

I think qtopia is not sending some AT command to the phone which adjusts the mic gain.

Yes, microphone need some attention, need to look at it. Have to look like cr2 say around AT command.
For your suspend issue it is because Qtopia is set to shutdown alone after some seconds by default, just look in Settings-> LIgh icon -> battery and set greater value.
Actually i don't know why power button as no effect for suspend. Anyway it works to power on device after suspend just press it and be carefull to check if your backlight settings are ok ( i do this mistake many times ).
In next version i just add support for messenging system and try to look at power button too.

Fabrice
I'd love to try Qtopia on my BA, but I'm running Vista on my laptop...not Linux...is there any other way to do this from Windows?
Hi folks,
I am constantly running into problem with activesync no matter what ROM I use. It appears to be syncing, but it doesnt change anything in the device! And in the end it gives an error code 86000107.
I have searched everywhere, and I guess a lot of us have encountered this problem using WM6.1, and I believe this used to be an issue when WM6.0 came out! But I never had this issue with WM6.0 until i upgraded to WM6.1
Here is my setup.
OS: XP
ActiveSync: 4.5
ROM: WM6.0 (back to the basics!)
I sync at work and also at home!

Sometimes I get this error message at home, and sometimes at work! So i really cant say this is machine, that is causing the issue!
Solutions that worked for me to fix this!
Uninstall and reinstall ActiveSync
Delete the error showing computers sync partnership in both device and also computer, then resync again
Some people say hard reset works for them, but I think its the same thing as above steps!
Anyhow, if anybody else has any other solutions please post your results! Or maybe there are some ROMS out there that doesnt do this, I would like to know them as well.

I currently sync with activesync 4.5/XP at home.........and WMDC/Vista at work.
If I reinstall either existing ROM or a different ROM....and I want to keep the same device name......I have to delete the existing partnerships on each machine before the first sync after reinstalling the ROM........if I do not delete the partnerships first then it will automatically rename my device to something like WMxxxxxxxxxxx.
This is a little different than your situation since I do not get an error message.............but I have found that when activesync or WMDC get flakey....I just reinstall the application and start over.
After I flash WM 6.1 CRC , activesync seems don't detect phone .
Temporary solution : hardreset phone + reset pc .
Now I am Shadow CE fan . Same bug . Same solution. I guess it's WM 6.1 Bug.

I agree, I have to do the same thing too after fresh ROM install, or else it will pick its own name
I had that error earlier today when I was trying to sync my work email to my device.. I unchecked the box in activesync and let the device delete all the mail... then I checked my email box again in activesyncs settings and everything synced normally again.. it might be a windows 6.1 issue since I too have neverhad this problem before..

So is this connected to email syncing? This would make a lot of sense as WM6.1 ROMs have had other problems involving MMS, as well as some problems restoring emails and SMSs from backup files. My bet is that in making the threaded SMS, Microsoft messed with some part of the WM messaging program so that everything that touches it is having trouble.
Is everyone who has this problem trying to sync email?

Nope, I don't sync email at all on either of my PCs. Same error. One thing of interest someone pointed out, perhaps it has something to do with the MMS in wm6.1. I will try to flash my phone with wm6.1 no mms over the weekend and post back here (will be using PK9)
Try this.
disable "Advanced Network Functionality" under Settings->Connections->USB to PC to get the ActiveSync client on the PC.

I dont sync emails, but i get the same error! I am thinking it might be calender or something, I remember having lots of issues with syncing when WM6.0 first came out, but then it all went away for some reason.
Oh I always uncheck that adv network thing, it doest fix this error!
Try this.
Whenever I encounter ActiveSync syncing issue,
I rename PIM.vol file to something else (e.g. PIM.bak) and sync again.
Never failed to disapoint me yet.

Ok this thing is frustrating. I didnt get the error over the weekend as I was syncing only with my home computer. Now back to work again, and get the same god damn ERR msg again!!
Changed to schaps 4.40 beta, still the same if not worse!!
Ive tried everything. Syncing with two computers on 6.1 just doesnt work all together. The code happens one way or another.

I know its pain. But here is what seems to help!
Uncheck contacts from activesync options
let the pda sync
disconnect the pda, and connect and sync again
After it synced, check contact back again from sync options and allow it to sync
It wont show the error message now.
Now, if you go sync again with another pc, it will show the error message for that pc. Just have to follow the above steps again, until the error disappers.
Cheers mate,
but sucks to have to do it all the time...
Seems to be coming from certain roms only 'cause I don't have it with another WM6 ROM on an Elf... oh well guess I'll just have to be patient

Yup it works for that time, and then when you sync again, I have to do it all over again! Its pain, so I gave up on WM6.1.
Everyone's having problems lately with the new Roms and sync w/ Vista. I've used this on my last 5 Roms and it has worked every time.for WMDC (vista activesync) to work go into the device ID and name the phone "Pocket_PC" exactly how I typed it........no qoutes. ....oh and BTW make sure your Schaps Config also names the Device Pocket_PC
Let me know if it works for you
UPDATE!!!
ADDED: remove the advanced config program from your phone that works also!!
Any luck anyone?

I don't have anything running vista, but it's something nice to put in the memory banks just in case I ever run across the problem.
Maybe someone will give it a whirl.
Thanks for the tip!
Don't have a Vista box here @ work, but will try it later tonight. I wasn't having as much as an issue with it as some people. Sometimes I would have to kill mobsync and restart it for it to work.... I'll give this a try and see
Haven't had any problems synching with my Vista 32bit but if I do I'll try this..thanks
No Problem with Vista64 SP1
I have my 8525s named as such and have not had a problem synching or flashing with either my Vista64 SP1 desktop nor my Vista32 SP1 notebook. Thanks for your post, however!
This is weird because i have been having this issue lately too. Also my father with the same phone and different computer is having the same issue.
Seems to happen when im switching roms. FYI iv tested many Minella2d roms.
questions from a noob
I just got this phone, and my only other ventures into ROM changing was a Motorola ROKR E6 seems similar but I am trying to figure all of this out without a users manual, software disc, just by reading and trying to download.
My questions are how do I change the name of my phone. When I power on it says that it is pocketpc I already went to microsoft and downloaded the info for viista wdmc but I don't think that the computer recognizes the phone other than the auto play feature.
THanks
Tried your fix and, I am afraid, it didn't work for me. My Hermes still fails to sync after the intial setup.

if your phone is connected your good to go another way you can go to activesync is in Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Sync Ceter
I am not sure if I should post here or under Schaps' rom thread. I have Schaps 4.31 rom. For 4 days now my 8525 stopped syncing with the computer, but in the same time my contacts and my events/calendar on the phone disappeared. I reinstalled the rom again, I reinstalled the Windows Mobile 6.1, with no effetcs. When the computer odes the first sync and set-up it says that I don't have the outlook installed. I have it on the computer, and on the PDA I have the office. So I am kind of stucked. I tried the Pocket_PC ideea, but the only thing now is that the Windows Mobile Center stops working in the middle of syncing, and ... no results.
Thanks for help

it connected once and only once. After that i have to uninstall the device in device manager, unplug the phone, soft reset the phone, plug it in, and let it reinstall the driver. this happens every single time i need to connect to my PC.
VERY frustrating
Vista and sync issues
I have two 8525 phones - under Vista, one would sync, one would not. I kept getting the RNDIS error and unrecognized device. I connected the one that was good, and went to the device manager to get details about the drivers used.
I connected to one that did not connect, and got to the point where I could specify the driver location, pointing it to C:\Windows\WindowsMobile worked for me.
Some Spreadtrum android phones are not very carefully tested ... They don't even check if the microphone is loud enough ...
And the fun fact is that it's very easy to fix !
WARNING: May only work with Windows XP 32Bits.
You just have to download the Spreadtrum drivers here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2tyg0k2xp3ejgyg and there: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c5nf3rlhxmxhu4x
Then download the Spreadtrum debug tool: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rngukh111vqfr8h
Now plug your phone (turned on), and install the drivers.
Open Channelserver from the tools.
Then open Audiotester
Click on "Connect" from channelserver (the connect on the top)
Click on "Get Audio mode information"
Go to the handset tab
Click on "Volume config"
Now you can change "ul PGA" from usually 10.5 to 12 or more. Change it on all the lines.
Now you have 4 little buttons on the top-left corner of the window.
The first one is write to ram (to test if it work before changing the settings permanently)
The second is read from ram (to load the actual settings)
The third is write to flash (to permanently change the settings, so the phone can keep the settings after a reboot)
The fourth is read from flash (to load the permanent settings)
You can even change the settings while you are in the middle of a call !
So it makes it easy to test.
Just call somebody with a lot of time and patience, then change some settings, load them to ram, and shortly after this person will ear if it is successful or not.
If everything seems fine, click on write to flash, so theses settings will be made permanents.
You can now unplug the phone from your computer ^^
Great thanx!
Thank you very much, because I think maybe it is the problem what I had. Nobody was even able to help, but the information and the drivers you provide maybe I will be able to solve the problem. THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU!
Yet I just tried with the drivers, I have Win7 - and i was able to install the first SCI-android-usb-driver-jungo-v4 driver. Now, when I connect the phone via USB, my computer finds it as Spreadtrum phone. I started with turn on usb debugging on my phone, and it worked. I started with the channelserver, and i found a problem. Channelserver had a lot of options (UART/Winsocket), Port, Baud rate, endian, winsocket. I tried to leave the options as default, and i checked the client info, but i cannot see my phone as a client. I tried to find, what's the problem, and I realize, that i have only one option to choose as a port: COM1. But my phone was connected via USB, so there must be a problem. And because of this problem i cannot use audiotester. Now I try to figure out, what is the comm problem.

O.K. I tried to figure out:
My settings with channelserver:
Type: Winsocket
Port: 36667
Adress: 127.0.0.1
Endian: little endian
Winsocket server port: 36666
Then i see in the client info:
client counts:1
IP: 127.0.0.1
Host: T-PC
I tried audiotester, I choose te top connect options than the get audio mode information. I get this message:
Get eq mode count from phone
Execute command time out! (CMD: AT+ SPEQPARA=0)
Read Untunable EQ (8800 G) mode count name from phone
Execute command time out! (CMD: AT+ SPHENA =0,0)
Read audio_dsp mode count from phone
Execute command time out! (CMD: AT+ SADM =0)
Unfortunately, I don'tknow what does it mean...
Round 3 - Fight
After changing the Win7 Os to an another computer, which had XP, i was able to use the channelserver and audiotester. I installed the drivers, and i was able to choose between SCI-DIAG (COM4) or SCI-VENDOR (COM5). With choosing the SCI-DIAG option I was able to run until the get audio information, and the computer has done the task, without any fault message. I try to find the handset tab, but I don't know, where can I find it. In the audioserver, thera are just only one settings, and I can choose from this options:
get audio mode information
get music mode information
make call
hang up,
export
import
control bye (I cannot choose it, bacause it is gray, and I cannot choose it.)
Where is the handset option?

Hi ElectronikHeart,
I'm having the same problem and I've been looking for a while for some solution so I was very happy when I saw your post.
I've followed your steps (on Win 7) but I'm stuck on step 4 (Get audio mode information).
When I press the button I get a lot of messages saying: Can not get endian mode from the phone.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but I'm totally lost.
Any suggestions are welcomen
Thanks

The original instructions contained an error (or were unclear)
I did this on a windows xp machine. I'm guessing it would work on a windows 7 machine.
Open Channelserver from the tools.
Then open Audiotester
Select SCI-DIAG option in the UART section
Click on "Connect" from UART section
If setup correctly, you'll get a number of status updates on the bottom.
A number of new tabs show up
Click on "Get Audio mode information"
Go to the handset tab
Click on "Volume config"
Now you can change "ul PGA" from usually 10.5 to 12 or more. Change it on all the lines.

Yes you can also change the speaker volume, it's on the same place just some other settings.
Try it in ram before flashing the new settings in rom. and use the try and guess method ^^

Yes I was talking about this one, It's exactly in the same place as the microphone but another setting. You may not be able to rise it a lot, but I already done this on one phone I had (Feiteng HT-G2), and it made a pretty good difference even if it was a little quiet for my taste even after this.

Hi,
thanks for this manual, but I've problem - I successfully connect to phone and retrieve data (via AudioTester), I changed in volume config "ul PGA" attribute from 7.5 to 12, I wrote to flash successfully, but problem is the same. Microphone is too silent...
Is there any other solution, or can I change some other attributes in "handset" tab to resolve it?
Please, help mi.. I have two phones with the same fault.
Photo in attachement.
I had factory value of 7.5, I changed to 18 and now it works nice with my wife's voice.

I did same thing with values, they were 7.5 and I tried 10.5 - 12 - 18. In every case, the only thing I could hear loudly, was that noise. It is the same noise that GSM lines do when close to non shielded speakers. Is there anyone who knows if it can be fixed? I hope so, as Audiotester has soooo many configuration options.
Thanks in advance!
