Please Help. I have had my Inc for about 3 months now and have tried different ROMs. Today I noticed that my phone was not connected to my Wi-Fi at work. When I try to enable Wi-Fi the only thing it says is "error." At first I thought it was mabye the ROM, restored from a back up from a different rom a couple days ago, still get error when enabling Wi-Fi.
CWM 3.0.0.8
hboot -0.92.0000
radio-2.15.00.07.28
ROMS Kingdom Stock Sense 3.0 Rls 1.1 and IncRom 1.6
Do you think my Wi-Fi is broken all together or should I try to upgrade my radio, or try some other solution?
Can your phone not connect to ANY wifi network or just this one in particular?

Will not connect to any. Wi-Fi can will not enable. Every time I try it says "Turning on..." for several seconds and then says "Error" and Wi-Fi is still unchecked. When I try to enable Wi-Fi Tether for Root is fails and instructes me to check log. The log is as follows:
Loading bcm4329.ko module (fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin from /etc/ firmware)...failed
Starting access-point...failed
Activating WiFi interface...failed
Enabling NAT rules...done
Enabling IP forwarding...done
Tethering now running...done
My laptop can not connect or see my phone to tether to it. Yes it has before.
I'd think that it sounds like a hardware issue if it was working before, but it can't hurt to try a different radio. TBH I haven't really heard of many other situations like yours, wish I could think of something...

Thank you for the help. I think I will restore it to bone stock, take it to Verizon and see what they can do. My last Inc thay would not help with but sent to PCD where these phones are refurbished for HTC, they replaced the mother board and sent it back. Took 4 weeks though.
Well just restored phone to complete stock, still no Wi-Fi. Looks like I will be visiting Verizon on my lunch.
Well after several minutes at Verizon and them determining that yes there was indeed a problem with my Dinc, they warrantied it out and sent me a new refurb. Got that one yesterday. Got the phone activated, played with it for a while. When I went to lunch I really put it to use. Watching a short 15 min video the phone got warm and rebooted. And then rebooted again. When the phone finally powered up to a workable state I let it sit and cool down. Today for me lunch I decided to get it to reboot cycle again. Yep it did, took to Verizon which is about 20 min away and the entire trip it would keep rebooting. By the time I got to the store it would only boot up to the HTC Incredible screen until I pulled the battery and tried again. Still only HTC Incredible screen. Showed the sales rep, another one on the way. This will be my 4th phone since March of this year. I love the phone but if I can't get one that works it doesn't do much good.
This has been happening to me for the last couple of days. Out of the blue my phone will pop this error: Data call failure. Error code 128. Unable to establish wireless data connection. I have done some research on this error message and most of the things I found had to do with using the phone as a hot spot. I am not using that feature. I am using a custom rom that I have had on for a couple of months now. Nothing has changed on my phone. I have tried updating the prl and then updating the profile. I have pulled the battery and left it off for half an hour. None of the other phones on my account have this issue. It is particular to my phone only. Is it this something I can call sprint about and they can reset or do I need to flash my radio again or take it in to sprint?
Had the same thing happen to me today. Called sprint and they said there was a data issue going on in my area. I say its rubbish but whatever.

That's been happening to me all day today. I thought it was maybe the kernel I installed today (more freedom) but after seeing this maybe it was the earthquake on the east coast causing problems with the network?
I have been getting these errors all day today as well.
i've been getting it all day... I thought it was kernel
I keep getting that error to. Thought i messed up my phone. Guess it was the earth quake, That **** was crazy though, never felt one before. Anyway after it happened i lost service on my phone for like 2 hours, kept getting beeping noises when i would try to make a call.
Sorry to hear others having this problem as well but I am glad that it probably isn't my phone. I would hate to get my evo replaced with a newer one that can't be rooted.
I know running CM7 right now and getting no 3g speeds right. Lame. But I got wifi though.

It can be rooted! These Dev's don't let us down, come-on man.
This started happening to me after the earthquake. In NYC
you mean Virgina? But yes, the last few days especially today after the quake. Ivebeen getting it alot.
I just had to reinstall synergy because it started freakingout saying that my andriod process had stop working, and a media process stopped working. was driving me insane.
Yeah know issue with Sprint call tech and do ctms ticket and maybe prl update or maybe * 18. The issue may be cleared by now .
Just the last couple days? I been getting these errors on and off for months now... before I rooted, and bricked my phone, so I'd say it has something to do with sprint not having enough bandwidth... or something like that anyway....
data call failure error 128
My Evo 4G started getting this Data Call Failure Error 128 last week (Wed), also only when I unlock... It is only a message, but everything works fine afterwards. It would happen about 5 times a day.
Then I went to Mexico for the weekend (3 days) and was roaming over there. Not once did the message pop up. Everything was fine, roaming data, text messages, phone calls. Thought everything was fixed. Came back on Monday and once I was on the Sprint network, started receiving the messages again on unlock.
I updated PRL and Profile and everything. That didn't stop it. Tried changing from Sprint to automatic roaming and that didn't really do anything. I thought it was a couple of apps i had (like Green Power that turns off data and turns it back on) but uninstalled it and the messages kept popping up. Tried enabling always-on data and that seems to work but that drains the battery faster than usual. Been searching all android forums looking for others in this situation and it seems like only a Sprint/HTC issue (Evo 4G, 3D and Shift). This is getting very annoying. It happens about 5 times a day.
My wife thinks that it's Sprint fixing and adjusting their network getting ready for the iPhone rush.
Wow, glad to know that I'm not the only one. I think that I had somehow did something wrong with my phone. I keep on getting these Data Call Failure - Error Code 128 messages several times a day. I tried reflashing a new rom, then doing it again. Must not be the rom, but Sprint. Annoying!!!!
it was just a sprint issues
Also cannot call the *2 or the *4 automated lines to sprint, get a busy signal and pop up saying "network is busy try again later", but can get through to sprint on a landline just fine. Apparently I cannot connect to what the sprint tech says is the "automated lines". I continue to get the error code 128 repeatedly, whether on wifi, 3g or 4g, and Sprints only "remedy" is to do a factory re-set which I have read has not affect.
Like the title says, I just started having the dreaded data connection issue. I never had it before, updated my 900 the day the update was available. Then today, out of the blue, my Lumia 900 isn't picking up any data. It says LTE, but can't pull up ANY web pages, even simple mobile sites. Won't update stories in my wpcentral app, or any other apps, at all. Going to try calling at&t and Nokia to see what the problem could be. Anybody else having problems with their updated 900 or on at&t?

Data Issues
Oddly I wan't getting email or anything this morning. After awhile I am now getting data for email and most apps although some are complaining.
Right now though IE doesn't work at all. Kicking back a 502 Bad Gateway.
Anyone else seeing this. I wouldn't have noticed since I usually have Wi-fi but had turned it off. About 1AM MST time is when it seemed to keal over.
Op, interesting that you are in Vegas. I was all last week and it worked like a charm but first thing this morning back home no go just like you. No email, no weather tile update, no web pages.
I turned on WiFi and was able to get data.
My phone was a pre-order, my wifes which was bought on launch day worked fine. Both are patched via Zune.
I power cycled my phone and it started working.
Hard reset your phone after update. If you haven't yet, that's what At&t/Nokia will tell you to do.
If this helps there are 7 reported users having the same issue all at about the same time, this morning, having issues.
Here is the post: http://forums.wpcentral.com/lumia-900-ace/190736.htm#post1654488 Sorry if we are not supposed to link to thers. I will take it down if that is the case. I just want everyone to be able to see the status of what is happening.
Once upon a time back in the Tilt 2 WM 6.5 days I had a problem with data/talk ONLY at my office.
AT&T wanted me to send in the phone to fix it but I insisted that it couldnt be the phone because if I left work it was all fine.
In the end I switched sim cards with my wife while at the office and I guess the IMEI/SIM combo on the network gets stored because when I did that all was fine, then I switched back and all was still fine.
If so many people had trouble at the same time I don't see how it was the phone.
I've done the hard reset after update & it was fine up until this morning. Tried soft resetting this morning. Mine was also pre order online, maybe that has something to do with it. I'm going to try connecting to WiFi see if that helps. Maybe it'll jog it somehow. Hoping to avoid hard reset, hundreds of apps to re-download, just doesn't sound like a fun morning, lol.
Thanks

I am having the exact same issue.
Exactly the same time as mine. And the 502 gateway thing is frustrating, but at least it's good info to learn that it's widespread, not just mine.

Mine tanked this sometime this AM as well. I set my phone to airplane mode at night, want the alarm but no other syncing happening. When I get up I turn on wifi and get ready. Got to work this morning and nothing. No cellular data.
No hard reset after update. Cyan lumia, bought last week.
Power cycle
It seems like it's resolved. Try power Cycling your device. After I did that when some were saying it was working then I was able to get full access again.
You're right tsmorty, mine's working fine now. I'd had my 900 running off of my Radar's WiFi. Once I disconnected it was working. At first I thought this had done the trick, but after seeing it's working for all now I see it was a coincidence. Thanks all!

problems in Ecuador
Liitle late to post in here haha, but....
I have been having the same issues since day 1, I havent tried to replace or return my phone because I bought it from an ebay seller and I am living in Ecuador, so its kind of expensive just to try to send it back and possibly with no response or telling me that is a network issue of my country.
Each time I go to a place with a weak signal, the phone will go to "E", and the connection wil drop, after a few minutes return to "4G", but the connection won't return at all, the only way to restore the connection is by rebooting.
By the way, I have done like 10 hard resets, and even reloaded the firmware with nokia care suite, and nothing, the problem persists.
My wife is using a Lumia 710, and it works perfectly.
I am using an unlocked lumia 900 from rogers
To start off, this happened maybe a month ago. I was on my phone just listening to pandora and for some reason the WiFi shut off. I tried going turning it back on but it got stuck on "Turning Wifi On". I was on EliteMod ICS. I thought maybe it was just an app or something, so I superwiped my phone to start all over again and flashed a new rom. For some reason when I went to this new rom "CM10 Flinny" I honestly did all I could. I have tried every rom. I even took off root and s-off and started from a "New out of the box" state. And it still won't work. Could it be an error within the phone? Or does it have to deal with hardware? I don't if this helps but when i check out a logcat of the phone, it says like wpa_supplicant not found and the javastate or w.e it is can not be started. I never play with the wifi too, barely use it and it just happened out of nowhere which is leaving me confused.
And also if it does have to be with hardware. Can anyone tell me where to get the tools to open up the phone? And the certain items I need to get it working again. I'm already ordering another part since my phone's home keys don't work either. Weird that many problems came up all at once.
Similar problem here except my WiFi stopped working on mimcry 1.5 I also get the WiFi error cannot connect to suplicant

POCO F3
Suddenly, The mobile data connection started to fail.
It suddenly disconnects, and I have to turn airplane mode on and off to get it to connect again, but it doesn't take long, it varies, and the connection is lost again.
And when it's connected, it's very slow, but a lot, it went from a 15mbps connection (before the problem), to a .3mbps connection. I have installed several ROM'S, and nothing fixes it. Another thing I've noticed is that suddenly he also started using Roaming when he didn't have it before.
Update: Testing with another mobile, with the same SIMCARD, i can connect to my red 4G, but in this POCO F3, when i tried connect to 4g cant, I get a notification that the selected network cannot be connected, The only one that accepts me is the one with 4G R (I think it's roaming).
UPDATE: Also I think that is a problem of crash of the Band 28 LTE
My modem often crashes too, since I bought the phone last year. Standard ROM, no unlock/root, updates when FW goes out.
I mostly see modem crash when the phone switch from wifi to LTE to wifi to LTE etc when I go outside. At one point I notice I have no data connection, sometimes it displays the "no SIM card" icon, the modem program loops and crash and the phone becomes warm because of this and lose its battery real fast.
Only cure is to reboot the phone.
Hi, my phone just started having a very similar issue after working fine for almost two years. I am on T-mobile in US, where are you? Did you find out any more info on this?

The truth is that I never found out, what I did find out is that my IMEI of my cell phone had a report of theft (I bought it second-hand) and only 2 networks (from my country) grabbed me: "telcel and altán", of which altán only got roaming and only telcel got the original 4g, on the other hand "at&t and movistar", nothing, only the company detected me, but they didn't get a signal... No way, I gave up, I switched to the only one that if he caught me it was Telcel (even if he didn't want to).

A lot of people complain about modem crash since the beginning, Xiaomi never fixed it. It seems the problem is happening when switching cell towers/wifi. At one point you notice you have no data or the "no sim" icon, you have to reboot.
I was experiencing that a lot when I was on a MVNO for the major networks (Mint Mobile, Google Fi, etc.). Upon switching to AT&T Prepaid, I am experiencing far, far fewer disconnects. Some particular locations will give me the exclamation point, but by and large it's much better.
It seems everyone is torn in half, between this glitch being software related, or hardware related.
I have tried everything to blocking out certain bands with network guru, to taking my phone apart and looking for some kind of issue. Been through countless roms, and firmwares, and kernels. I've gotten a new Sim card too. Have tried Compressed air. with nothing seeming to solve this issue permidently.

For what it's worth, I'm also using a custom ROM (Arrow OS 13). I recall a while back there being kernels people developed that attempted to address the phone restarting issue.

Phone does not restart. It's just that at one point, you notice your data are not working, you cannot enable them, nor make phone calls, you may have the "no sim" account, your phone may go warm because the modem is constantly restarting.
In the end, you have to reboot your phone and everything is normal again.
As it about always happens while outside, I cannot connect a usb cable to dump logcat or others.

Try to put some pressure on the phone screen, not too much, push down slightly or press it together in your hands while holding volume up volume down and power button. Let me know if this helps

Were you listening to something on Bluetooth via mobile data?
were you driving?
What was the ambient temperature in the room or outside when this occured?
Just trying to narrow down hardware or software.
My poco f3 likes to reboot with the no Sim error, when I'm driving around on mobile data, listening to Spotify via Bluetooth.
I'm curious what circumstances other users have encountered this error in, or what they were doing at the time when it occurred
As it happens about only when I'm outside, I can be driving (phone connected in BT) or walking.
But my phone never reboots, never.
