HELP for my Xda Orbit - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Since yesterday and suddenly my handset (XDA Orbit) can´t work. The reason is that a white screen has appear, with the red led switched on, on the top of the PDA and the vibration activated (This 3 elements appear at same time, together).
It was running under WM6. I tryed hard-reset with any result because at a low time this 3 elements appear and only stopped when I take of the battery.
Any one knows what is happening???
Any solution???
Thanks!!!

Seems like a hardware fault..... you should contact the supplier

sounds almost like my problem. I will ship mine in.
This is why I'm looking for the original ROM.
Do you use the original ROM?
This is why a opened a new thread and asked for it.
White screen..... I have that too!!

I reinstalled the original rom and it seems to be fine.

P3300 goes black??

Hey.. kan anybody help me?. My P3300 goes black several times a day?? i have flashed it back to its original ROM to check if that would help, but i didn´t.
The phone just goes black and i cant turn it on again without soft-resetting it. Sometimes the screen flicker and some stribes are showing across the screen before it turnes black??
I hope you can help me
Best regards Michael
i had the same problem, i send it to repair by t-mobile and they changed the lcd screen problem fixed
Seems to be a common problem, as I have exactly the same with my P3300. Send and email to the HTC customer support to ask if it could be a software issue (no reply yet) - but now that I read this post I guess I can send my device for repair right away...
I don't think the LCD is to blame for this issue. (why would the phone firmware "crash" - and unable to reboot ? )
@MicTh : those updates you've installed ? were they recent Mobile6 (B&B > 4.1, Vanilla 2.0,.. ?) from this board ?
I've got the same problem, T-Mobile replaced my handset twice (new IMEI) - reason "motherboard replaced" ???
I DO believe that USPL unlock is causing this problem now - too many MDA 3c's failing - while HTC 3000 / Orbits seem to run fine.
No.. I run the original WM6 ROM
No.. I run the original WM6 ROM, and I have also switched back to the one it came with, but i does not help
I'm getting this problem too... screen fades to black, and only way to re-start is to soft-reset. I have had two new motherboards in my original, and now HTC have replaced with a new unit, with factory WM6 and problem is the same. I was wondering if it was anything to do with software, as i do have a number of applications installed - but which one is to blame?
After I removed Spb Time, my P3300 works fine (for a week now)
pnyg
do I have sbp time? (is it "standard" or 3rd party s/w?) if I do, how do I remove it?
no, I've not got spb time, so its not that in my case....
I also experienced this problem when I installed Meschle 3.01 ROM. Cant remember if its vanilla or full version as I installed both.
I am now back to Original WM6 WWE from HTC. No problem at the moment.
first hang-up end with black scream
I have the same problem..I think
started with WM5 ..but even with WM6 is the same!

some time the black scream is flashing
can any one help me?
i don’t know what to tray anymore? I think is some Hardware issue?

I've had at least 3 separate P3300s with this problem. I'm sure its a hardware issue, and I have finally persuaded my supplier to refund 75% of my purchase price, so I can buy something different. I am sure HTC must know this is a problem, but the uk repair centre seem unable to fix it, presumably as its a batch problem, and all the boards they have are faulty.
i have exactly the same problem with my Dopod M70 (Artemis300). Maybe it have some problem in the motherboard design which HTC should let us know
My orbit do the same, when it boot win everythink is working fine. Someone did say: When you apply pressure, it fade to black. I think it maybe have something with the housing design or battery.

I think i solve my own problem, after hours, i found out when we press in the back phone, near the display cable position, the screen become black and hang immediatetly. so i try to open back cover, remove cable and motherboard. Use alcohol to clean the contact display cable then put its together. Tighten motherboard, and wow, my Dopod M700 are back to life again, now how hard i press, everything stay fine. No strange behavitor for 5 days. GREAT!!!
Hope everyone think my experience useful
Sounds great but...
Hey.. sounds great.. but i´m affraid to take mine appart.. i think it is very difficult to take the cover appart without ruin it

No it is easy(much easier than TyTN) to open Orbit/P3300, you have intructions in the wiki. First you check if you have right tools...

I find that if you apply pressure on the outside casing at approximately where the simcard would be it switches itself off....
Yes it's your post. I have same problem. My orbit is working fine all day, but it is on the desk, didn't touch it. I bought P3300 housing, so I will change it, maybe it fix a problem.

white screen non stop

hello to all,
I've searched many white screen problem threads, but didn't find any similar.
i am sorry if I missed one.
I am asking you for help.
I have spv m3100(hermes 100)
I bought it used and it had instaled htc europe wm6 rom. after few days I decided to flash black x rc.
before i did this, I made super cid with RUU_HERM_Unlock_v3a.exe and than also flash hard spl v7. everything was fine until few days ago when butons stop working. and at the end the green led was blinking all the time and green and red phone light was on all the time as well (also if phone was in flight mode).
I decided to flash official rom and I checked my bootloader it was showing ipl 1.04 and hard spl 2.10.
I flashed WWE 3.54.255.3 with radio 1.48.00.10 and everything went just fine at the end was written congratulation....
it costumized and make one or two soft reset and than I start to instal my favorite programs (few spb, smartmovie, dictionary...).
I do not remember why but after I set regional settings I did not soft reset with stylus but I put out battery when phone was stil on.
after that screen is white all the time. I made many soft resets, hard resets, try to enter bootloader but screen is all the time white.
when i turn it on and it is white I connect it to computer and it connects normal and i can also explore my files, but screen is all the time white.
I left it more than 20min without battery and try again but is stil the same.
after that I keep battery out of phone and leave it sop over the night. in the morning was stil the same.
i do not know what to do.
please help.
thank you and best regards
miha
since you mention a problem with the buttons, it *could* be hardware related. There is a thread up here where those problems (connections usually) are explained.
would you be so kind and tell me which thread you meant.
it seemed nothing wrong is with my phone only colors are missing (everything is white). i think also touchscreen is working. if I turn it off with power button (holding for few seconds), it beeps and you get message if you realy want to turn it off. because I know exactly where yes button is, the phone goes off.
I apreciate every help I can get.
thanks
I had a white screen issue .. do this in this specific order
1) make sure you have olipro latest version (use the search)
if problem persists
2) Use an WM5 rom and see if the white screen is happening
if problem perisists
3) Replace the battery (cheapest option)
if problem perisists
4) Its a hardware fault and you will have to send it off to get fixed or replace the unit .. sorry
alive again
I solved the problem.
thanks to this thread

XDA Orbit keeps crashing

Hi, I have a problem with my XDA Orbit. It works fine for some period of time and then starts hanging up. Usually before the phone hangs, the batery status on the today screen dissapears. I have tried hard reset and different ROM instalation. After a new ROM is installed it works fine for a day or two and then starts hanging. After a soft reset works for 1-2 hours. Sometimes needs several soft recets to start. Any ideas? I was suspecting a faulty phone, but after a ROM update it works so fine!!!
P.S. I have tested several ROMs but never tried to go back to the original one.
Hi
How much memory do you have before the phone crashes.
Are you changing any of the advanced settings for the file system and glyph caches. Both of these will use up alot of memory and would causes phone chrashes similar to what you have.
have you tried Toms new oops Black v1.0 on a 4mb page pool. This alone would give you a little over 1/2 memory free and then in the advanced settings making sure that the caches are set to file as 4mb and glyph to either 16 or 32k
Cheers Dave

i found that the original rom had issue with o2's today plugin
soon as i disabled it the freezing and error messages stopped
I had the same problem with my origonal XDA, I returned it to O2 and they eventually gave me a new one, I think i killed the old one from over use haha
i had the same problems, my phone died today.
having the same problems changed rom loads of time but it will work for a while the the phone stops working followed by a white screen. i think my babe might bedead
Unfortunatelly it seems to be a hardware problem. I have tried all software reccomendations. Nothing works for more than a few hours. Then crashes again.

I thought the same...take the bugger back to where you got it from and get it replaced for a new one!
O2 did have two versions of this device, i only just noticed this but my first Orbit had a white tracker ball that glowed blue, about 3 months later i dropped it in a bath and got it replaced, only this one had a jet back tracker ball, i dont have version numbers or anything but it has changed at least once on the hardware side
you think battery status blew your processor/mainboard? you can't disable batterystatus? or put it back to original speed: 201 mhz?
what speed were you running? i'm running 247 mhz constantly.
good luck.
Orbit problems
Sounds like it could be your motherboard. I had a similar problem with my un-modded orbit where it would hang and stick sometimes as receiving a call and would constantly vibrate until I took the battery out as I couldnt turn it off it eventually died O2 repaired it under warranty. Sorry this post is a while after yours but hope its helpfull.
O2 hanging with white screen
Has any solution came up within last few days for 'O2 hanging with white screen' problem.
My phone recently started behaving like this.
Please help as phone is out of warranty now and cant claim the new set or something like that.

Freezing problem

I have a problem with my Artemis. I'll try to decribe the problem and if anyone can help me i will be thankful.
When is Power on it works few minutes than it freeze and screen desapears. After that I try to power but it doesnt work. It needs time to accept the Power comand and I don't know where problem is... (i thing that it's about temperature but i'm not sure)
I tryed to flash with later software and win mobile 5 but the same thing happens.
Any help?
Please specify which applications you have installed and eventually which ROM.
I strongly recommand you to flash your device with latest ROMs like Black and Blue one or others (see the Windows mobile 6 section of Artemis)...
A hard reset would solve your problem anyhow I suppose.
Are you overclocking your CPU with some software? like BatteryStatus for example?
Please let us know...
Gues i fixed the problem
It not was about ROM... I have tryed flashing with Black & Blue, Vanilla etc. but the problem was the same. When I put the Phone in the pocked it freezes. Meybe it was problem with cooling.
Anyway I used a tutorial how to upen the phone, i opened it, cleaned it (using spray for clean) and now it works fine i gues.
Thanks a lot...

I had the same problem with mine....
The phone is fecked take it back to the makers and get a replacement..
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
Had the same problem.
Power was on, then de screen went black and stayed black even after pushing the right upper side button. Had about 4.90mb free storage memory on the phone and 200mb on my card left.
Soft reset didn't work but a hard reset did!
I have the same problem for the last week
I tried to change Roms to original and back to manila, the same problem.
the artemis freeze suddenly without ant reason. after calls, before calls..
it's not wake up and it's show a blank screen. after few soft reset and battery replacement is wake up and work fine till the next time.
for now , I'm work with doppod original rom wm5 but no WIFI.
I think it started last week when I installs "B&B 5.0 love" rom, before that It work fine with pdviet manila2D.
problem upgrade my rom
I'm now have a O2 UK roms on my device.
I try update it to Touch 4.02, with the UPSL but it no working.
the bar with percents jump from 0% to 100% in sec. and I still having the same rom.
I read the uspl guide.
can yo uhelp me ?

XDA Orbit not running right

My XDA Orbit went crazy today, first I couldn't start him at all, he wasn't react on "power button". After few attemts he finally started. I connected him to PC but he turned off after couple minutes. From this moment I can't start windows, it stops at starting screen (with IPL, SPL, GSM, OS). After a while screen starting to quakes (like a low frequency on CRT). I tried hard reset, it won't help and run it in bootloader mode but Orbit just reset.
Additonal info:
IPL 3.04.0001
SPL 3.04.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.4.0.0
ROM: Original WM6 from O2
Can anyone help me?
Have you tried a different barttery?
No, I didn't. I don't know anybody with artemis to borow another battery.
EDIT: I checked battery voltage, it's about 3,85V and now i noticed something, on battery sticker is printed it is for ARTE160 3.7VDC-1200mAh but on the phone it's printed ARTE200 5VDV-1A. Is that can cause the problem?
Finally I forced it to run in bootloader mode and flashed with the same O2 WM6 ROM. He started and I was abble to flash USPL and other ROM. It's better but still sometimes phone just poweroff with no reason

Hi
Had a similar problem!!! Try reflashing the rom....It worked for me..I used the o2 stock rom found on the the artemis wiki in the ftp section.... Can also highly recommend the Touch rom found in the windows mobile 6 section of the artemis section here..

I bought a new battery but phone still turning off and freezes. Now I can't even turn it on, sometimes it starts but screen slowly fades away and after few seconds its only black screen with black light. It's propably a hardware problem but what?
EDIT: I started it, working fine when it's connected with pc but when I disconnect it freezes after couple of minutes.
flisak
open the device and check the screen is connected propperly, piss easy, just be very carefull.
if this does not work buy a new LCD.
Hi, I have the same problem with my Artemis, did anyone find a solution? Can be a problem with the LCD?
And plus one here. The device always turn off, and is difficult to turn on again. Rplaced battery and is the same.....
I've got an XDA Orbit that periodically hangs (full black screen and occasionally this seems to drain the battery very quickly). I've taken it apart and reseated the connectors and these all look ok.
Seems to happen when you're taking it out of a pocket to answer a call etc. Sometime it just requires a soft-reset but occasionally it just doesn't respond. In these instances I have found that twisting it slightly across the diagonal (top left to bottom right bending back slightly) and then resetting the device seems to bring it back to life and it's ok for a few hour/days again. If I leave it alone, i.e. not in my jeans pocket - it's fine, so think it's hardware related but not sure which bit is faulty - screen, touch-screen, mainboard etc.
If I bend it the same as above when it's working the screen goes screwy and causes it to crash so think it's definitely this is what's causing the device to crash. However, the clock seems to keep going (I'm assuming so as in most incidents it doesn't seem to lose the correct time - although I might just be seeing the problem the instant after it has crashed) so don't know whether the mainboard is still ok.
Just thought it might help some if you try the slight twisting described above to see if that helps with these to get them working and if anyone has any ideas how I can work out which bit of mine is faulty I'd be grateful.
when I try to flash the ROM 6.5 for my HP3300 after 4% flashing it restrats again. Pls help me out. I think this problem might be with my Ext_ROM. How to unlok EXT_ ROM

what is the best touch rom to use for my xda orbit. and where can i get it
Well it seems that I'm having similar issues with my Orbit.
I've been having problems with it for a few weeks and they seem to be getting much worse now.
Occasionally it would just lock up and freeze, but after frantic tapping it will unfreeze itself and continue working fine. But over the past few days it's been locking up regulary. Removing the battery was the only way to get it going again.
But now it just won't do anytihing. As soon as I start it up I either get a white screen (it phases in during the splash screen), or it'll start up, freezes after a few seconds, then eventually switches itself off. Hard resetting it makes no difference at all. Changing the battery didn't work either. I always keep it on charge overnight, could that be the problem? Maybe I'm just overcharging the battery (if that's even possible).
Note: As I've typed this, I've switched it on again only to find the battery's flat, even though it's been off for most of the day (I gave up trying to start it up). The battery usually lasts for the whole day - maybe even 2 days if I don't use it much. I had it on charge overnight as I said.
I'll try another battery to see if that works. If not then what can I do?
