New to upgrading on Hermes - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi, im new to upgrading on hermes but not wizard, switched from wizard to hermes.
i could read all tutoria;;s and stuff but..just dnt want to...yet.
so, need to know some basic things like..
its gonna be an untouched phone, (windows mobile 5, cid&sim locked)
do i need to CID Unlock my phone? (probably yes)
do i need to find a stable Radio version...like the wizard?
if i do, can u recommend one?
and what else do i need to know?
thanks.

i think u just take some times to search in this forum the way to flashing your rom. (sorry, bad english..)

you dont have to read all the tutorials..
you just need to read the wiki...
as for not reading and just asking its abit lazy and frowned upon but:
you need to sim/cid unlock,
hardspl
flashing radio can be very dangerous on the hermes so read the wiki..
i recommend 1.47.30.10
all information can be found on the board or wiki so get reading before posting in future its alot easier.

I would stick with the orginal radio came with the phone. It usually dont make much difference to me where i live! Also I recommend flashing radio if you have to using SD card method.
Always read wiki, and good luck flashing!

What the man said, excelent advice. Use POF unlocker to sim unlock your phone and also make it SuperCID, that way you can use the MicroSD card method with any ROM (NBH).

Need to downgrade from WMIV Black 1.2 to Original DOPOD ROM

I need to downgrade my rom for warrany purposes (the OK key is stuck) But when I load up my Original ROM when my unt goes to the bootloader tingy, it disconnects from activesync and just well.. does noting.
Please help, anyone?
Thnaks
Execute SSPL and then run the RUU.
EDIT: Note that Hard-SPL (which I assume you have installed) will not protect you from failure because the original ROM has its own bootloader that it will put on your device, which is a good thing in terms of warranty, but a bad thing in terms of a power outage.
Original rom
Did you manage to do it and revert back/
look at this guide http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/
Yep, the guide will help you through doing this. It takes a slightly more time consuming approach but you are almost guaranteed not to permenantly brick your device doing it this way, as the last thing to be flashed is the radio, then the SPL.
Ive read the guide when i wanted to upgrade and its very helpful. Did'nt notice there was a segment on downgrading which i believe will be helpful as well. Thanks for your patience and answering, you guys are kind, for pointing me in that direction.
HArd SPL? Uh, no I didn't install that.. should I?

@ Deadman
I would suggest you start reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
Then go to the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and do a lot more reading before you really do something even more seriously seriously nasty to your phone.
You should have installed Olipro's Hard-SPL before any kind of rom upgrades.
There is also a complete guide on the wiki to unbricking your phone.
Got it, thanks.
Thanks

huh? where abouts on there does it have a link for a download? or tell me how to download it?
Try one of these, which one you use it up to you they are all different and its an individual choice which is best for you:

where is the guide to tell me how to acually flash my phone?
i havent a clue how to flash it!
ahh no ive worked out how to flash it, but it says i need some framework or something to run the program#?
On the PC or phone?
its ok , ive found thre framework now... i didnt read the writing your right, so just downloading that right now..
then the setup should run!
Good luck with the upgrade. Don't worry if it seems to do nothing for quite a while thats normal, don't be tempted to unplug or reboot the device. I'd recomend flashing it with HardSPLV7 1st just in case, see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
ok im confused now...
ive read and done everything it said on that guide.. but how do i get black majik onto my mobile?
ok ive got to the bit where it says
The thread concerning this ROM contains the latest info provided by users, testers and the developers (Jasjamming) and I recommend reading through it even if you encounter no problems.
Hopefully you will have carried out the housekeeping and HardSPL steps of this guide before upgrading to Black Majik as the flashing process WILL wipe all data on your device, and by having HardSPL on it you safeguard against a corrupt CID if the process if interrupted.
Firstly download the file and run it.
i click the link to download it and it tells me its not available yet?
black majik is quite and old rom now, I recomend using a newer one. However I assume you have downloaded it to your PC and unzipped it. There should be a file called RUUWrapper.exe which you will need to run. As I said thought I would recomend flashing HardSPLV7 1st, this will help if anything does go wrong upgrading the OS.
Flashing most roms is pretty much the same as another so once you have read the guide for one you shouldbe able to flash any.
Try one of the links I first gave you to download a rom

JasJam

Hey,
I have a JasJam with the following current versions,
ROM: 1.31.305.2
Radio: 1.20.31.10
ExtROM: 1.31.305.103
And I would like to upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6.0 or above, i do not know what is the last ROM update i should install, can anyone help me ?
Thank you.
First thing to do is to check your SPL by pressing POWER+OK(button near the scroll) and then reset. You should now see the 3 color screen showing your IPL and SPL.
Make sure your are using Olipro SPL,
If not then download HardSPL here and install it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
After installing you can now find any ROM you like to install.
Some link for Cooked ROM (Unofficial ROM)

Just a reminder for ALL noobs out there, you take flashing your device into your own hands... There are no guarantees you will flash successfully and no blame is to be laid at anyone elses feet.
So saying, there is an awful lot of info available here and we do say to read first before flashing so you have at least an idea on how to fix the problem if something goes wrong. WE were all in your shoes.
Do some research, ask questions if you need something explained (we don't mind answering if you've done some research) and have fun.
1st thing to do though is to install Hard SPL from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
I'd recommend the sd card method on page 116, post 1160. I find it safer than using the PC. Just make sure the sd card is less than 2Gb, formatted FAT32 and you make NO spelling mistakes when you rename the .nbh file to hermimg.nbh.
Happy flashing...
Hehehe thank you guys , i appreciate your help

Is there USPL for htc diamond?

I've been reading and I see there's uspl for devices, for upgrading a rom without the need to upgrade to hard spl,
Is there uspl for htc diamond? Is it more dangerous for use?
Im asking because everything I found is related to hspl only.
I need to keep the option for restoring everything back for warrenty reasons, but I see its not possible to flash back to stock spl from internal storage, so I'm afraid one day maybe my usb slot will stop function and I wont be able to flash it using AS.
It may sound dumb, I know, but I want to make it carefully.
Is there any risks involved in using uspl instead of hspl?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I did found SSPL, though only for very old versions of radio and rom, Mine is 1.93 and radio 1.00.25.05

Hahahaha, hi eranyanay, your worries have come true for me.. Couple of days ago, my Diamond stooped recognizing the usb port, and all the syncing and transferring have been done through bluetooth..
Now i can not revert to factory SPL, thou i have flashed a stock rom and put some of the original parts (bootloader, splashes and OS) back, just to try and make the warranty work (if they accept it )... we will see in the end
And, btw, i have been flashing and using HTCs for 3 years intensively now...

Oh I know!
You're one of the reasons for my question.
Its just that I couldnt find any attention to sspl around here, only to hspl.
