Hi all dear masters,
I was trying to upgrade my Imate PDA2k, it was failed and now it's not booting.. In the screen, just a "SERIAL" appearing and changes to "USB" when connected to the PC... I tried to upgrade again but now, it says "COUNTRY ID ERROR N-N-12-12-12" and aborting...
Is there anything that I can do?
Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks...
Sorry, I found WM6 upgrade and mtty1.2 and process brought my PDA back... Thank you..
I have the same problem
My mda compact 2 starting playing up yesterday, rebooting on its own, so I tried to install the upgrade from tmobile (ruu charmer). The upgrader stopped and my mda now has a screen that only either says serial v1.02 or usb v1.02.
I've tried rebooting it several times in several different ways without any joy, the screen just remains the same. I tried connecting to my laptop via active sync, but its like it doesn't exist anymore!
In simple terms, could someone please explain how to fix our problem.

Dear Fellow Forum Members,
Followed instructions as per Xda_II_Upgrade.pdf, during installation got to a section where I got a message saying that the current rom is being erased a task bar was displayed which increase's in percentage as the job goes through. However the job was still at 0% completion when an error message was displayed saying the job had failed and the device needed to be undocked and a soft reset performed and then re-docked and to restart the process again. After performing the undocking of the device and software reset I get a message on the screen serial V1.0.1 when connected to the cradle the message changes to USB 1.01 and I cannot do anything else the unit does not boot into pocketpc, as you can imagine this is very frustrating as I depend on my xda2 to receive and make phone calls I would be very grateful any members know of any way to get around this problem. I must say I am a bit concerned a try and tested xda2 update has led to this problem.
Just run the update .exe file again with the XDA docked and it should just install the update again. It happened to my mate on Saturday with his XDA II and he just ran the program again.
Dave,
done as you said and all went thru fine you are a star thanks mate.
No problems it's good as a newbie to be able to actually help people.
upgrade xda2 rom ver 172187 dead os--connection error
i was trying to upgrde the rom from o2 website when error occured at stage 19% completed asking me to reset the xda2 . when i am trying to reset the xda 2 it does not boot it just shows the o2 screen with red letters of the version and does not even charge. my laptop cannot connect to xda2 and as a result i am unable to upgrade when i tried to run the 172187 .exe again it gives error 101: connection error
please help me out of this? thanks
Hi everybody,
i´m an spanish guy who owns a BlueAngel (exactly a TMobile MDA) thas was functioning properly, without problems.
Yesterday, after releasing the PDA from its cradle, I started to have this error message: "UNKNOWN CARD IN SOCKET 1 - Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer´s documentation"
And the message appears even if there´s a SD card inserted or not... and I´VE NOT WIFI. You can try so much times and nothing happens... the icon shows no wifi, and no dialog box appears, as it was usual.
It seems the PDA don´t recognize the wifi module... as if it was turned off...
I´ve updated to the latest ROM, latest radio etc... (i´ve not tried with WM2005 yet) and this happens again and again...
And in the spanish SAT they have not idea of why this is happening!!!! :?
Please help me... i´m getting desperated...
Thanks so much in advance!!!!
Un saludo
I've searched through the forums and can't find reference to anyone having problems upgrading due to their PC.
I've upgraded ROMs many times before but the most recent venture on my MDA Pro to WM6 (hemi 1.1) has been unsuccessful.
Basically starting 'ROMUpgradeUt' brings up, 'Device Software Update Utility' then clicking next starts the sofware search for the device but then it shuts down with no error message!
I've noticed other ROMs to give me the same problem now (eg Helmi AKU 3.5).
Tried:removing SD card, removing SIM, 'device upgrade mode'(light, power+reset), unchecking usb connection, hard reset, computer restart (XP),
ActiveSync 4.5 5059 working fine, country id error upgrade, tried another MDA Pro same problem.
I've run out of ideas guys.
PS last time i tried to upgrade to WM6 i got stuck on boot screen and had to use the mtty tool to reboot.
I think you should try an other mashine.
SOLVED !
Universal didn't like the different USB port at the back of the computer i was using. I had connected an external hard drive to 'its' port.

ROFL It's sometimes scary how much I compare my PC to my ex lol...
Newbie loses always the active sync connection just before updating its hermes from WM5 (OS 5.1.195 Build 14955.2.3.0) to the new WM6 (ENG Vers.). It's a MDA Vario II from T Mobile Germany (SIM unlocked!) and I have no clue what I am doing wrong - As soon as the progress bar starts to indicate the update my active sync connection goes down and of course I get the error message "failure connection".
Thx for any help! GeHu
I had the same exact problem. I can't pinpoint what exactly is going wrong (i just got my 8525 a few days ago, and decided to mess with it, so I'm a complete noob at this) but what I did was just use one of the repackaged versions. That did the trick for me D:
I am confused. If you mean you run a rom upgrade and then plug the phone in, then it is doing what it is supposed to do. You should fully sync your phone then run the rom upgrade. The upgrade will disconnect activesync and then put the phone into bootloader and run the upgrade.

It's an activesync problem. Either delete activesync and re-install it and then, try it again and it should work or try it on another computer

Also make sure you have installed HardSPL first.

ok people notice how gehu0003 states "SIM unlocked!"......thus he most probably has a different bootloader.......1.40.olipro im willing to bet.
gehu0003...please do the following:
update to HardSPL v7 : This will make sure your SPL is up to date.
then
go to THIS THREAD....and download the DOPOD WM6 ROM. Use this repackaged ROM since it has CustomRUU which will recognise your updated SPL version. Enjoy.
thank u guys. i am fine now with the new HardSPL.
hey guys,
i'm having problems with this too, it disconnects me while i try to update to the hardspl.
any ideas?
thanks
how it worked for me
i had the same problem, while flashing rom, just before entering bootloader mode with some rom's it would disconnect and drop the usb conection. to fix it, now i enter the bootloader manually : press and hold (on) and (ok) buttons and reset with the pen. it should enter bootloader mode and in my case it doesn't drop usb conection to PC and allow me to reflash
cheers
Any help would be great....
I have a MDA Compact III issue when trying to upgrade to the ARTEMIS TOUCH 2.1 or 2.0 software
Unfortunatly, my pda was at 49% charge when i first tried, so stage one got to the end, then told me to charge my fone more and ended.
Thus i charge the fone to 75% and re-started. However, upon reconnecting the fone to commence the restart, the USB device was not recognised.
After removing the Active Sync and indeed the USB Driver from the PC and re-installing it, the conenction was re-established, however, it now often drops the connection. Plugging away, i tried the install Step 1 once more, and upon getting to 100% in the cmd part, and then progressing through the wizard, whereby the PDA displayed the progress bar reachinbg 100% (of the unlock stage) the PDA then reboots, and the connection is lost...and doesnt re-establish itself....and then the wizard reports Error [270] : Update Error The image file is corrupted. Please check your update Utility
Now, i have tried various sources for the software, and indeed tried both 2.0 and 2.1.....
Now i have a PDA that intermittantly drops its USB connection (and needs the USB removed and re-added on the PC) and is now slower than it was, plus never got to step 2 to get the software on iot.....
Can anyone help? Else i have a broken phone so to speak.....
Thanks alot in advance

well, I'll just try to give you some suggestions as I don't know much about MDA Compact III ,it does not fall in the category of wizard,it's a Magician device and I'm a wizard k-jam user. anyhow as a general of upgrading is to have your battery fully charged or atleast must have more than 70% charge.cuz during flashing in RUU upgrade mode,it does not charge,so if while during flash something goes wrong or it takes more time to flash,it shud have enough power to go through the whole process.if it does not have enough power to complete the process,it fails to flash properely and thus have a bad flash creating problems.so same has happened with u, you have a bad flash
well in wizards we have certain methods to revive the device or recharge the battery,i have no idea about your device, but can only suggest get the battery charge, secondly your usb connectivity problem is also due to the bad flash, cuz as there is no OS info on the device,it wont be able to establish the connection, which windows are you using, try to upgrade with winxp sp2 and active synchronize ver 4.5
as i have no idea about Magician upgrading method so wont comment further, but advise you to look in the below thread,it might be helpful, cuz its about Magician MDA Compact III
As your posting in the wring forum you might not get much help here,ok

good luck
thanks
thanks for the reply. Got it working - used 2.0 to unlock it, and 2.1 for the actual rom upgrade...
