The Start menu pops up as and when it feels like it. It normally happens when writing sms. While writing, the start menu just pops up and it's bloody irritating.
I've tried hard reseting without any additional softwares on at least 4 different ROMs from here & the problem still persists. I'm convinced that it's not a hardware problem cos Karmba 7.2 Non-Touch ROM does not have this problem but the ROM is way to heavy which causes the PDA to slow down.
Is anybodyelse facing this problem? Is there a fix or something to this? Appreciate any help & advice i can get. Thank you.
P/s: I don't get this problem on my TyTN II, Dopod 838 Pro & Touch on custom ROMs

Well, there has been a number of posts on this known Trinity weakness.
I also experienced quite an irritating behavior as well some time ago.
Look through the threads, you should find them. Personally, I do have the impression that since I use FTouchFlo, it is far better. However, this only is an impression ... not sure it helps,, but at least you should not feel like "I am the only one with this damned f..... thing" !
same problem
I have the same problem on my phone! specially when writing sms with phonepad and no stylus. You are right. It`s unbelivable annoying. the problem seems to dissapear when you are using the stylus and not flabby fingers..
Me 2 :'(
I am also having this problem.
I've noticed that it only happens when i press lightly on the screen, not when i press hard.I Suspect that it is a fault in the digitizer, and somehow it signals to the device that the upper left corner of the screen is pressed.
My suggestion for a possible solve is to write a little program that prevents the user from clicking on the start menu on the screen, by introducing a "non-click" zone where the start menu is on the today screen.
As i allways use the "windows" button i can always access the start menu. This, i think, will prevent this fault from happening.
My only problem is that i don't know how to program native C.
I have not tested my above mentioned theory, but i would wery much like to. So if there is anyone out there that can do this program, i would be very gratefull.
Scann69,
I would hate to make you nervous, but when I encountered the same problem you are havin it was the start of somethign terrible. My Trinity was back and forth from repair for over 6 months!!!
They replaced the screen, it worked for almost 2 days. They replaced the screen AGAIN but when it came back the 'vibrate' function of my poor Trinity didn't work. They then replaced the mainboard and now things appear to have settled down (but i've only had it back for a couple of weeks now).
My suggestion would be send it in for repair. Good Luck

this problem have been there since i bought the phone a year ago. Htc replaced my mainboard around 5 months ago because of some cameraproblems. I think Beebo has a good point about the digitizer. that would surtenly explain why it dont happen to me when i use the stylus. the problem mostly occur when i use my fingers on phonepad while writing sms..
i also got this problem...quite frequent
first, the changed motherboard, nothing solve and still happen quite frequent
second, changed lcd screen, happen less around once a day or 2 days once
i found this problem quite easily by using finger but now even using stylus it also appear....
how u guys solve this problem? got send to service center or just leave it?
Yep this isn't a WM6 issue
Yep it is a Trinity issue
Yep it is a hardware issue, something to do with the LCD screen. Some have said it gets worst if the phone is heated.
You might have seen improvement after installing touchflo because of the increased reaction time to touch.
No I don't know a solution

but this not the way to solve it. this is the trinity's hardware problem. why need us to bear this problem.
what the technician do is change lcd touch screen. it will not solve becoz after a while it will come back. i go to service center until i tired
after monitoring, it still popup at least once a day....
i really don't know how they solve the problem....damn frustrating....
i have this problem too, but only recently.
who gonna be help?
first prob is the start button popping up, next step is that it continually does this and infact will not allow any screen inputs....as in total piece of #$%(ing crap. I have a dopoid d810 in canada , started 2 months into owning the phone , htc will not service it, and pretend like they dont know why this is happening ( there is info all over the net about it, many people think it is the chip that is improperly mounted to the mouther board that controls screen input). AS Dopod has the service contract on this phone htc will not service it for me and of course dopod does not have international warranty. HTC screwed me hard and long.....I have never been so disappointed with a product in my whole life ( even cereal box xray glasses were better than this)
i had this too on my m700, i think it is an issue with the screen mounting, certainly heat and things may well affect it. Possible the casing pushing the top corner of the screen or something.
I had mine replaced by orange.
rjefferis,
what did orange replace for you? touch screen or whole unit pda?

Yes, all you said are right.
the trinity, there are two problem:
one is the LCD mounting, if you touch the LCD slightly, it will push the screen to the corner as click start menu. for the people who met the problem once in few days, it is all right.
the second problem is serious, as you said "worse when heated", that is because a resistant near CPU is designed in wrong place. the problem will happen freqently everyday and worse when phone is hot (cuz the NTR resistant). once it happens, it will get worse and worse till the motherboard breakdown.
i know some people they replace the resistant to fix the motherboard by them self, and they write down all the progress. if some one really handy and insist to fix the problem, i am happy to translate the progress in to WWE
that day i asked staff at service center, they said never occur this problem so far
i asked htc staff(my friend), he said don't know got this problem. seem like htc don't know this problem....

Hi,
For two days I have had a serious problem with my HTC P3300 Artemis:
There are actually 3 different things that happen:
1. The phone freezes while working. No idea what causes it. Happened at different occasions.
2. The phone doesn't wake up when I hit the wake-up-button.
3. Often while rebooting the screens whites out or whites out and gets green or purple vertical lines.
In each case only removing the battery helps.
I use Mossisrom as my OS.
Can anybody tell me how to fix the problem? Is it a hardware or software problem? Please help me!!!

I get the problem about waking up too. Sometimes it won't for a while. I leave it a couple of seconds and then try again which usually works.
Have you checked how much free internal memory you have. WM seems to still be very sensitive to low memory.
Hi,
I am rather sure that it's not a memory issue. The system freezes completely, not just for some seconds. I can't call the phone either. I think its either a SW or a HW problem and hoped, someone could tell me what to do.

I can only suggest resetting the ROM back to a standard one and seeing if you still get the problems. If you do, it is probably a hardware problem and you should get the phone replaced.
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
Wow, you had a great experience from HTC . I didn't. I had the exact same problem as posted. HTC claimed I broke the phone myself and wanted to charge me. They claimed something broke behind the screen and that I must've pressed it too hard, despite the screen still being intact. After three months of phone calls to the UK and a lot of empty promises (promised to get a manager to call me back, never got them. promised to discuss with repair dept and call me back, never got them) I finally got my phone back , fixed. No explanation as to why they changed their mind. I had asked them to take a picture for me of what was broken and to how they came to the conclusion that I was the one who broke it. Maybe they were too lazy to do it.
Hi All
I have had a Telstra Touch Pro 2 for around 2 weeks. There a lot of things I like about this phone but there is a really annoying bug in mine...
It intermittant does register screen taps/touches. For a while I thought it was me but I have found, to prove the bug, I have gone into the Notes program and started writing and it occasssionally misses letters.
The fault was so subtle I thought it was me the first week and the second week I tried various things (short of a ROM replacement) to fix (ie: turning off Telstra/HTC crap). I've done a hard reset and it is still there.
It's going back to the Telstra Shop and I'm back to my Touch HD for now.
Disappointed.
...just replace it!

please tell us how telstra handles returns on these devices! mine has a very wobbly screen, so much so i dont tilt it anymore, and im thinking its almost replacable.
Ok, so I returned my phone still in DOA period.
My problems were the glitching all over the place, and not just once a day, but it kept on getting worse, youtube, camera, browser, status bar, apps, multitasking, scrolling, keyboard, jumping white line in messages,etc...
Mine also was creaking arround the front camera and part of the corner of the screen there too.
My battery was displayed wrong all the time, so I couldn't see the right %.
Yellow bottom of on the screen.
Games were lagy, Tegra 3 and normal like teeter.
1 dead pixel.
Probably forgetting some problems now.
Somethings will be software, but because I(and most of us) don't know what is software I preffered to send it back before the doa period was over. Also some posters stated htv told them to send it back, witch problems same as mine.
Also if this is software for most of the part, than why isn't everybody getting the problems.
So I made this topic so you can tell what the problem was with your first device, and if you allready had your second (or third, etc) and what improved and what stayed the same... So you can we get a better vision on that.
My first phone arrived yesterday and is getting swapped out by a currier tomorrow for what will then be my second device.
The problems I am having is the jumping/bumping at the bottom of the screen; this is very inconsistant but does happen more often than it doesn't. For instance I was using the phone for 40 mins earlier it was happening, then for 10 mins it wasn't, again it happened for 5/6 mins and then didn't happen for around an hour but again its happening as we speak.
I've also had the problem whereby you can't unlock the device by pulling up the ring, and I have to shut down and startup the phone for this to be fixed. This has only happened twice so far; but again should not happen at all.
Lastly I have had the problem that when you lock the device the screen turns back on, even when you only pressed the lock button once.
I think thats everything... I do believe its software problems more than hardware, however as you have said why isn't this happening to everyone if that's the case. I guess you could look at it that maybe it is but they are either living with it or reporting it direct to where they purchased it from; either way they are not posting it on here. Who knows?
Now I do understand bugs are there in just about every phone and to be honest they are normally bugs you can live with until an update; the problem here is that the bugs are completely preventing the use of the device and/or making the use of the device very difficult. No phone should be released with this being the case.
One thing I do know for sure is that its happening to those who got the phone from a network (mines from Vodafone) and those who got it SIM free; in all areas or the world. This means they (Vodafone, Orange, O2 etc...) have not caused these problems so it eliminates any tweaks/software they may have placed onto the device meaning the problems do entirely lie with HTC to resolve. Lets just hope they do; or more importantly lets just hope its a small number of phones that are affected and that our replacements are okay.
I will let you know tomorrow what the second one is like... (sorry for the long post),
How did u notice a dead pixel
Sent From My HTC sensation (desire with rcmix s )
Phone turning back on after i pressed power button to lock the screen, got that too. But happens at random, so not always.
I saw a very tiny shiny spot when in a complete dark room, on a black background. Dead pixel i suppose.
Im considering getting it online but not sure what to do if i get a dead pixel
Sent From My HTC sensation (desire with rcmix s )
Send mine back because one of the 2 yellow spots didn't go away after 10hrs screen on (5 days) and I had some random restarts.
I don't want a faulty device, some devices will keep giving problems while others have no issues from the start.

You would be able to send it back if you bought it online, just like buying it from a shop. They have to give you the same period of support...

Have you had the replacement device; how is that getting on?
Hi everybody! I have been reading here that some people had this issue, but I don't see how they solved it. I've had this issue since the beginning.
Basically, screen sensitivity is very bad when the device is unplugged, only when it's plugged in or holding it with both hands it responds correctly.
This is a problem for me, because for studying, i put the a100 on its stand case, and only need one finger to slide a word or ppt. With this grounding issue, i have to touch the a100 with both hands to make it react properly, it's very annoying and uncomfortable.
Should I take it to the technical support? it's a hardware problem? I tried the build.prop from crossix and still the same. And tried the recalibrate.apk without any success. I don't know what else I can do.
I'm still in guarantee, i'm thinking seriously to take it to SAT. But i have unlocked bootloader, how can i revert it? How should i prepare the device to keep manteining the guarantee?
people who sent the a100 to SAT with this problem, it was solved?
thanks, I really need a fix for this
I have installed the official ICS rom and now it seems locked again, and I'm not root anymore. I think it's prepared for SAT, so I've called acer technical support, they will take the tablet for repair on tuesday 15.
I will post the results when they send it back to me, if someone is interested.
Did you try it after the update to ICS? the OTA ICS updates did wonders for the sensitivity of most of our tabs.
Yes, this is happening since the beginning when I bought the tablet with honeycomb, and still happens in ICS. Let's see if the technical support can fix it! because I really love this a100 thanks!
it makes any difference to upgrade by OTA or by flashing the rom that's here? I have flashed ICS, not by OTA
Is your build .14? That's the one that seems to fix the touchscreen problems.
I have had the touchscreen issues since day one also. Same issues, works fine without a case in two hands, one handed or laying it on a table/couch the screen is jumpy, random touches, and glitchy multi-touch. I've run 3.2 gen2, ICS .014, and ICS .017. I've even popped it apart looking for something simple (and to take a look at the wifi antenna), but nothing obvious found. I would have to guess it is a manufacturing defect.

Yes it's that build (downloaded from the russian link)
This happens also in the a100 of my uncle. He has not yet the build .14, but I'm starting to think this build won't work to fix that.
I thought this build would fix the problem, but...
I want to believe it's a problem with some tabs and I had bad luck, and that technical support will fix it.
I've made this video showing the problem.

Definitely a problem with your tablet, mine is perfect.
I have similar problem but not bad us yours .. but iam out of luck because i buy it from ebay with no gurantee
I will send it tomorrow, we will see what happens xD
today my dear tablet have been sent to be repaired. I hope it will be with me soon again! xD I'll keep informing!
I've just received an email saying that my tablet is repaired! they will send it to me in the next days, very fast! I don't know if this is good or bad... xD

Well about all I can do is wish you good luck buddy
I just got a refurb off of ebay and it has a 90 day warranty thru Acer, and the fella I purchased it from.
I am not having any issues with the screen even using the stylus they sent with it.
I tried the stylus to see what the hype was with a stylus and found it to be just that hype.
Do you have any type of screen protector on your tab?
Sometimes certain ones can cause issues.
If your device is under warranty I would let them fix it.
yes I have a screen protector, but the issue is there even without it.
I will tell you when i recover my tab and see if it's fixed xD
yea its the device itself i had problems with mine.. it had become completely unresponsive after i rooted it and installed ics i sent it back to the factory took almost a month and got a new one i suggest u do the same
How do I get a new one? today I have received mine and the problem doesn't seem fixed I wonder what they did to think it was resolved

To be honest I didn't think the problem would be resolved. Contact them again and tell them the problem is not resolved; I'm sorry to say this seems like a design issue.
On the other hand, maybe you are being overly critical? My tab works well, but if I want to make the touchscreen seem less than perfect, then I would have no problems doing so. However, in practice this is a non-issue, and I have not had a problem with either my previous tab (which I sent back because it stopped charging) or my current tab (which I've had for 5 days). Of course, this is after upgrading them to official ICS releases.
I don't think I'm being critical, the fact that I can't slide a document properly without having to hold the tab with both hands is very very annoying for me, since I want it to study and the idea was to keep the tab in a stand in the table and touch it only for sliding for example. I stopped using it for this purpose due to that.
Moreover, my mother has another cheaper tablet and tactil control works so much better... In the same situations that my tab. I envy her for that, cause my tab is over 200€ more expensive and it's suposed to be better xD
I have an exam today, i will try to find time to call acer to tell them the problem is not solved.
Hey all, I've had my G2 for over a year now and I love it. A few days ago, the phone started going haywire. The screen has become unresponsive in some cases, while in other cases, it seems to have a mind of its own. It literally starts typing and keeps typing by itself (it seems to like typing the number 4 a lot). I tried installing another rom (CM7), but to no avail. Sometimes if I have the keyboard open, it helps a bit, but it doesn't totally stop the phone from doing things on its own.
If anyone know why this is happening and especially how to fix it, please give me a heads up.
Thx

Lets just say your device has come to an end or you probably overworked it during its "youthful" days is quite common but for the time you have used it, it should still have alot of life in it i've had mine for over a year and its still cool. For the solution i think you should send it to the technical guys maybe an HTC service center or any good mobile service center cos i totally think this has nothing to do with software its hardware.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED

It's very likely that the screen digitizer has been damaged somehow, as this random touch signal behavior is a typical telltale. As you have verified that it's not a software issue by testing it in another ROM, a screen replacement would be likely needed. Send it back to HTC for a repair/replacement if yours is still under warranty, otherwise there will be third-party repair shops that you can consider.
Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like dtt hit the nail on the head. I'm gonna look into replacing the digitizer myself. I think I can do it without a problem, and I don't have much to lose anyway if it goes wrong since the phone is unusable right now.
