I have upgraded my wifes XDA orbit to WM6 downloaded from O2 website and the battery status icon that used to be at the bottom of the Today screen has disappeared (along with the other 2 icons ). Wife has also just taken delivery of a new XDA with WM6 and the icons are present. O2 CS cannot assist and I can't find any other posts. Any suggestions?

Do you have TomTom installed on the SD card. I had this problem and it was TomTom automatically starting up on reboot which then upset the customisation routine that adds the icons.
If you do have TomTom on the card, then just take the card out when you do the upgrade and all should be fine.

Thankyou
no problem, I had the same problem and so search on here only a day ago and found that thread. the other reply seems to fit my situation also as I did indeed have tomtom on a memory card, when I removed it the icons came back to normal.

Thanks for that as well. I just spent 2 bloody days searching internet and ringing O2. Just taken the storage card out (with Tom Tom on it), done a soft reset and they've appeared
Just for info when I tried to upgrade from WM5 to WM6 it wouldn't go through the process. I discovered that by reverting to activesync 4.2 (I had already updated to 4.5 when wifes new orbit arrived last week) it then upgraded. I have now re installed AS4.5 of course Don't you just love MS compatability

topic title kinda gives you an idea of what im on about, no? ill explane...
its looks good, verry good in black (O2 XDAIIs) but it dont work propperly.
now im shure the HW is good, but the crap Microsoft put on there is a big let down.
im no expert on SW, im just a plane old end user and im not happy
how can the XDAII work 100% (for me) but the XDAIIs not ?
for example. i had tomtom3 on the xda2 for months, not one, i say not one problem.
but after finaly getting it to run on the xda2s it worked ONCE but no more.
the timer comes up for a few seconds then tomtom flashes up at the title bar
then "puff" its gone ?
goto "running programs" in the memory manager thingy and its not there.
the xda2s slows down nealy ALL the time to a crawl so much so that
i lost count of the resets i have done in the 2 days i had it for.
i even had to do a hard reset this morning thinking that may help.
sorry guys i think i will give it a few more days (ive got 14 home aprovel) then i will send it back.
maybe whate for the xda3 (will it have wifi?)
the MAIN reason i got the xda2s was the WIFI, i would get a SD, WIFI card but i keep my tomtom maps on the SD card so i would need
a SD card WiFi with memory on it :S
is there such a thing, or better still a GPS/WIFI/MEMORY SD card ?
(pushing it there i think lol)
oh well, the looking forward to the XDA2s was better than haveing it (so far)

Interesting. I was getting this exact problem on my XDA II when I first tried to use it a couple of days ago. Worked fine in the house as I was playing with it (new toy ) but as soon as we went out in the car it stopped with the same symptoms you describe.
In the end I hard-reset my XDA II and it seems to be fine now.
The first time I installed the TomTom software I used the default (non Win SE) disk, but second time I used the 'Update' disc. Perhaps the update disc is better for Win2k Phone Edition devices...
i'm new to the pocket pc arena and was looking forward to *using* my new xda iis... i'm now *working* with my xda iis, trying to make it reliable and actually useful.
when i first got it, it ran a movie for 2.5 hours perfectly while on my train journey, syncronised my files perfectly, except it refuses to backup my text messages (a feature, not a bug apparently) and redraws the interface and programs very very s l o w l y.
i was appalled that they'd even release this half-finshed software. And am now looking for a newer/better/faster ROM... Might as well use a pencil and paper.
Hello All,
I installed the SPB GPRS Monitor on my Qtek 9000 and was wondering why is it that the icon on my today screen has disappeared and cannot be traced in Today option of settings?!!!!!
It was there for a while then when I stated the device after an hour the icon from my Today screen along with all it's features disappeared. Any reason why? How do I get it back? I don't want to lose the charges I already made and recorded on the program! Fido is a ripoff in Canada.
I installed Dinar Soft's MemMaid on my SD card. Does it have anything or a relation to the disappearance? Mind you it works per fectly fine from my SD card. Any help?
Thanks,
Gilbert
I had the same problem yesterday. Remove some today plugins....

Have you installed in the SD or main memory? It ONLY works if installed in the main memory. This is confirmed with their support.
I hope it helps.
Hi all
I got a O2 orbit. It is ok for everything, but Valid time in QuickGps was not updated when i connected to PC or WIFI, it updated only Download Time. I tried to many time by installed Copilot6 first or after...as the same results. Another point, I did the hard-reset to be back manufature system, Quickgps give me the same result. What is the problem with O2 QuickGPS? (normally, QuickGPS is always updated itself when it is connected to internet connection)
......Help me......
thanks all to read and help me to get a solution

Hi
i have the same problem.
I can connect and download, The download time is updated but the vald time shows EXPIRED.
i have had to disable the reminder..
hi
i have just set the date on my Orbit to the 7th december and quick GPS downloaded and showed 3 days on the valid time..
reset to correct date ran QuickGPS and valid time has reverted to EXPIRED.
Yesssss..indeed
......... WHY? it works when the date is not real......why?
thanks.....
Yep,l I have the same problem, I turned the notification off until I find a solution.
Have you installed the TomTom desktop on your pc? If not do it and then put in your tomtom sign-in and password. It then opens everytime you connect your Artemis
Snap - same expired message (and over enthusiastic startup of Copilot).
So, not having read this thread I've already done a hard reset on my XDA Orbit on the basis that there was an error in the ROM. (I sought a ROM download in another thread)
but... At the moment I have not loaded Copilot... and I'm assuming it's not just diue to that!
Also, based on the feedback others are giving (not TomTom's advice) I'm probably going to get TomTom6 and ditch Copilot. Probably flash and copy flash onto my 2gb mini sd.
HI
well HAPPY NEW YEAR just fired Orbit up to go out for a hike and QuickGPS now functions correctly can only think there must of been an issue ith the received data. i guess time will tell.
FYI i've been for a small hike using Memory map on the Orbit, been there done it and the Orbit still shows 50% batery left so i have left the application running to see how long i can get with the GPS running alongside memory map very impressed so far..
i'll post a note how long it lasts..
Hi
Well with memory map running and backlight set to dim after 3 minutes i received low battery warning 10% left at 7 hours 45 minutes. device switched off after approx 8 hours and 15 minutes.

My QuickGPS wasnt working either so I turned notification off. But got TTNAV6 working today, went to check QuickGPS for first lock on and it had already updated earlier today! Maybe it was an issue with HTC's / TomTom's server. Anyway appears to be working now.

I have the same problem , since 28 Dec. 2007, and need a help
I noticed something peculiar today and wanted to know if anyone else faced it...Tried searching forum on this...but not seen..
I have an O2 Orbit with Bepe WM6 no fancy apps except Tomtom.
Today drove appx 40x2 miles return - the GPS worked fine, battery was great. But when I started off I remembered my Program memory was appx 24.8 free and a soft reset maybe a day before - by the time i returned home in evening - it went down to 13.2MB free - there were no programs running - i had closed tomtom and anything else that was running and still did not get my memory back.
I noticed the memory was low - coz once i returned home and switched off tomtom - i received a call and found the keypad very slow and barely unresponsive...so checked running programs and found calender running...shut that and still the mem was low...no impact !
then when i did a soft reset - voila! it was back ! the memory came back to 24.6 - so where did the memory go?
Is tomtom causing a leak???
is is windows itself?
any thoughts?
I am having a similar problem with both B&B Rom (v3) and the official HTC ROM.
After soft reset the phone has 24mb of program memory. I have the X button set to close apps on press of X so I know that programs are not left running.
After about 24-36 hours I have 2mb left. This is happening every soft reset.
I only have the following installed if it helps:-
WM6 HTC Rom
Phoneweaver (on today screen)
TodayAgenda (on today screen)
pTravelAlarm (on today screen)
TomTom 6 (installed but not used yet)
VJDevicelock
BatteryStatusExt 1.04
oxiosmemory
WindowsLive (on today screen) - ROM built in version set to sync with hotmail "as items arrive". I do not use Messenger
I hope that this can give some insight as I am getting fed up with having to soft reset every day or 2!
Pretty sure it's a windows fault. I also saw that using the first versions of WM6 we had, and it didn't tally with any application use.
I no longer see it using the same applications in a WM6 v3.7 environment, so my advice to you is upgrade that OS.
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I am using ROM version: 3.7.707.1 which is the official "HTC Asia" release, and the problem still exists.

I am using the same version and I do not have any problems, no memory loss, nothing.
Are you using Tomtom/GPS also? Maybe it has something to do with the GPS?

I am using Tomtom 6, Pocket informant, Resco explorer, Resco Radio, Core Player, Resco Audio, Photo viewer, Style Tap, Spb Brain evolution, and Virtual pool mobile. All with no problems.

Please see me previous post "TomTom 6 (installed but not used yet)"
Maybe...
Hey.. maybe it works, kind of like the RAM in a computer. when you use your com. it also fills up your ram.
Maybe the phones just dont discard the temp info in the RAM as well as our computers??
...Just a thought
I've just received mine this morning and want to upgrade it to WM6
as my house mate has wm6 on his vodaphone pda & his g/f had a small htc thing from orange. both on wm6.
I've used meschle's guide to putting USPL Software on.
But I'm extrememly confused as to what software rom I've got to download to install
on my device.
and quite importantly as a new person to this device some good pointers as to how to go about it.
Many thanks
Steve
I cant believe so many people have looked and not one reply ...
can someone please point me in the right direction to an answer ....
My advice is to look in the "Artemis Upgrading" forum
You will find a few guides at the top explaining; why, how and where from.
Right I've managed to upgrade to WM6 using the unlocking CID section too.
My problem now is that the GPS Icon in the control panel is now external GPS instead of INTERNAL GPS like it was before and my tomtom software will not see the internal gps now.
Whats going on ?
if it's anything the same as I had ( newbie too ) goto start/settings/external gps and set the port to 4 then change tomtom to this port.
Hope it helps worked for me
P.s. as for rom I spent a couple of days reflashing but I stuck with Bepe full cube cause I like it, only draw back is that it has tomtom 7 built in and I haven't located the correct maps for it yet
HI,
at "external GPS" on the last page activate the checkbox (should be GPS automatic configuration) Let the other options unconfigured.
than at TomTom's GPS Options, choose "internal GPS"
I have the original HTC WM6 installed, and it works perfectly.
