I have an SX66, and I have no idea why I can't send any outgoing e-mails through gmail's SMTP. I've tried a multitude of different settings (there aren't that many permutations), and none have given me much luck.
Will conduct further testing. In the meantime, if anyone's got any insight, or have it verified and working, please let me know.
I've heard that there's a registry tweak that may have turned off SSL for connections outgoing, which may be why I'm unable to send (without SSL it wouldn't work). I bought the phone used, so I don't know (the rom and radio's like way upgraded, though, 1.4 or something).
Works perfectly via Wifi/GPRS on my O2 XDA iis as per

Worked ok with me too...send and received
Hi all,
I have read through some threads and performed a few searches. Everything in regards to this seems to hover around MMS. I dont really care for that but do need to SMS. As I am a phone newb could someone tell me with the softbank setup would I still use MMSLite for doing SMS after slapping on one of the new WM6 ROMS?
Or, can I just dump a station setting somewhere in WM6 for Softbank that will allow me to do SMS.
Thanks,
I to use an X01HT on Softbank and have tried almost all of the WM6 ROMs and SMS works normally. You don't need to do anything special or load anything extra it just works.
Correct, SMS just works. Just pop in your SIM and that's all you need. MMS is a different story.
Thanks guys,
I worked it out now. I was not aware that Softbank could only send SMS to other vodafone/softbank users. It seems we cant send to anyone else on docomo etc. Well, at least I get an error when I try to send an SMS to anyone else on another network. How stupid is that.
Does phone to phone email work? What I mean is I used to be with vodafone and had one of their email addies for my mobile, kind of like push email I suppose. Is Softbank doing the same thing and does it work after flashing or are we stuck with just SMSing to mobile numbers on our network.
Thanks again,
Japanese telco companies are not really friendly, and tend to jealously hold onto the features/etc on their networks, so they will not design their systems to allow cross carrier SMS... it would save you too much money.
Sending SMS's to carriers abroad from Sotbank phones work, but be prepared to spend about 100 yen per message (outgoing or incoming).
Also, the "normal" mail that you were sending was MMS, so you would need to get a hold of MMSlite or the setting for Softbank MMS to get it up and running. I personally use my Gmail and a push-mail account from Mail2Web instead... it cost me $2 a month for the pushmail, but it allows you to sync you calendar, contacts, task as well (works as a backup) so it is worth it to be able to change phones, phone numbers, carrier, etc without changing my e-mail or losing my data! Also, I can check any big message/attachments on Gmail. Works out pretty well.
Hi!
I'm subscribed to weather forecast that comes in 3 text (SMS) messages every evening @ 10 PM.
When I swiched from wizzard to hermes, I noticed, that I got only one or two messages instead of 3 every night. I thought there has to be a problem with the device, so I changed it.
== BUT==
Now I have a brand new Hermes - and with the same problem!!! It just looses SMS messages. Several people have been complaining to me that they sent me SMS which I did not receive.
What would be the problem?
the first hermes ran WM6 black 3.01 with 1.41 radio and the second one runs WM6 black dymond with 1.40 radio. The only common thing is that both devices were treated with Oli's HardSPL 7.
p.s. when I put my SIM card into a nokia, I receive all 3 messages as normal.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I dunno if this will help at all but...
...try going into start>settings>phone>services(tab)
click on 'voice mail and messages' then tap the 'get settings' button.
It should get the SMS and voicemail numbers from the network.
Might help...but its a long shot.

That actually helped me in the past. For some odd reason my SMS's would get stuck in the outbox and not send, so upon advice like above, I clicked "get settings", and all was well. It hasn't happened in a long while, but it was solved by doing that.
it actually may be your sim card similar thing happened to me got a new sim card fixed it.
I had a very similar problem with normal ssmes not coming thru and smses being held in the outbox. The problem started when I changed to an AKU3 Rom. The old South African 1.35 Rom worked perfectly but as soon as I changed to their new AKU3 the sms problem started. I had also upgraded my Radio to the 1.41 Rom.
How I solved the problem was I got my sim card replaced (which I found didn't solve the problem). I then only installed the apps I really needed and didn't upgrade the Radio.
For the past 2 weeks I haven't had any problems, so maybe try hard reset your phone, and start by only running it as standard and see what happens, also maybe try downgrade your radio.
Ensure the you have a message centre assigned in the phone settings. If you cannot get it automatically, call your operator and enter it manually.
Hi rebel I have noticed the same problem...but it is regarding the SMS and MMS...so could be some operator incompatibility or sth...will try the"get operator settings" thing...but I think this won`t solve our problem, cause not receiving all SMS/MMS it is a thing...but not receiving just some SMS/MMS is another problem...

Primoz
Hello to all!
I tried "get operator settings" and will report if there will be any progress. But I doubt, because if settings were wrong, than I wouldn't receive any text messages. But I can receive SMS, just not all of them.
It just makes me crazy.
@PC78: we're both using same network (Mobitel Slovenia). If you had exactly the same problem, than I guess it has to be some incompatibility between hermes and operator? I will contact them and ask for explanation.
In the meantime, I will flash my hermes to some old ROM with stoneaged Radio (1.03 or something). Let's see what happens ...
Greetings,
Robert
I have the same problem, could it be the HardSPL?
gh0st, where are you from? Till now, only users of Mobitel Slovenia reported this problem.
I don't know if it's hard SPL. But it's possible. Can it be removed from the device? I'm willing to try. But I need some instructions on how to remove it and bring the device back to the "factory" state.
regards,
Robert
...Hard-SPL?...what have the Hard-SPL to do with SMS/MMS?...I think it could be only an OS/Radio ROM problem or operator incompatibility but not Hard-SPL...

Primoz
same problem here...
delayed texts and no sms recieved...
i found out that even i have signal on my cel, im out of coverage when contacted.. but this is intermittent
there are times its ok.. then not.. then ok..
this happens only when i upgraded my dopod 838 pro
thats why i ask experts here on other thread how can i roll back the original
setting of my cel.. specially the radio..
im from asia region... can anybody help me too..
i upgraded to 1.40 radio which i think suited only for cingular network or other else...
Hard spl olipro 2.10 etc...
I had problems with SMS wneh using Black 3.0, using LVSW (latest) now and have no problems.
I suggest you try using one of the LVSW roms instead of Black - try Elf's or Sleuth's variants as they are the most complete.
Also, the most popular shipping "new" radio out there is 1.38.00.10. Try that radio as well.
Hello guys,
A bad news, really.
It's confirmed: Hermes has some serious compatibility issues with certain mobile operators (networks).
I contacted a company that imports and repairs HTC devices in Slovenia. Technician told me that they are aware of the problem and are solving this "missing SMS" issue together with carrier (Mobitel) and manufacturer (HTC).
They didn't yet solve it, though.
This technician also told me that this problem is ROM-independent, so it does not matter if I'm using june 2006 stoneaged ROM with 1.03 radio or newest cooked WM6.
Greetings,
Robert
go into start >> settings >>> phone >>>services >>> click on voice mail & text messages and click on get settings
it will show you your settings for text message service center. Make sure there is a "+" sign before the number. for example + 1 (312) 314-9810 >>> this number is for cingular message center anyways "+" sign should solve the problem
cheers
thesame problems with sending sms or replaying and reciving.
even on orginal Era's ROM
Sometimes everything is perfect but when I tap replay, sms stucks in outbox.
Or sometimes when just wanted to write new sms.
Only SR helps.
my operator: Poland - Era gsm
Thanks for the replay Rebel...so my concern was [email protected] incompatibility problems...doooh...

Primoz
I have had my hermes for only 1 week on T-mobile uk PAYG. Everthing works cool, but I have had a couple of calls from people why didnt you respond to "x" text message. they just did not ever come through at my end.
Guess this is the price to pay for having everything bar the kitchen sink in your pocket.
I can comfirm that I had this problem on Black Dymond (3.5) with certain type of sms.
with elf 2.1 crackberry all works well.
So it Is rom dependant.

I Recently took ownership of the O2 Orbit aka the Artemis.
This is a continuation of an existing contract and instructions are to place existing sim into phone and switch on whereby it will I assume perform the necessary configuration. When I done this I received a txt message from O2 informing me of the following:
O2: Sorry your handset does not support automatic settings. Please call our care team on 100 for further assistance.
So as the msg goes I called the care team. They then asked the Orbit team who informed them that the handset should be returned, as it is faulty. They will arrange the swap. Phone appeared to function okay but who am I to question why. Phone swapped and new phone up and running…I have received the same message again! Now the phone appears to be working okay so not sure what to do next. Has anyone encountered this type of error before? And if so does anyone have a solution/suggestion as to what this exactly means? Thanks JD76.
I get this Error Message every time i order a configuration SMS for my device. I dont know if you know, but on the O2 Website, you can request a text message which is supposed to setup your device for different Services, e.g. MMS or Wap...
Well everytime i ordered such an SMS, my device would not get configured, reporting the Error "Your device does not support automatic configuration" which is not that bad at all i think, because everything works just fine, without any limitations and the Settings you need for Wap or MMS or other stuff can also be found on the O2 Website and can then be set-up manually.
So if you do not feel like replacing your handset again, i would just leave it, i am not experiencing any problems (I should mention though, that i run a CID unlocked T-Mobile MDA Compact 3 with german O2 Windows Mobile 6 ROM) but i guess that makes no difference.
I had the same problem and was able to solve it by downloading this configuration .exe from HTC. Get the one that is regionally applicable to you...
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html
Although it 'says' it is for the 3600, I used the German o2 setting without issue on my Orbit.
Hi all, I am not familiar to forums and I ask for help because searches are fruitless.
The story is: I cannot send/receive SMS. It appear to be set correctly with telephone provider but when I open send message it takes me to Messaging which appears to be MMS (see accounts, tools configuration). Anyway I click send then it tries to establish a GPRS connection which fail because my modem is not set up? I do not have and do not want IP provider contract. I rely on wifi as much as possible but not everywhere.
The problem is: I would like to send and receive phone message only every so often.
The question is: is it possible? Is there any difference that I do not understand? Did I loose some software features?
The features are: MDA III originally from Germany, now upgraded to English with ROM 1.42.00 WWE from 09/05/05, Radio ver 1.13.00, Protocol 1337.42, ExtROM 1.42.119 WWE
I would appreciate your help because I am really embarrassed, in the lost...
Thanks
It shouldn't redirect you to MMS messaging, as this has nothing to do with SMSes.
1. Try to open messaging, select Menu->Go To->Text messages (or similar, this is from messaging on WM5). If you now press New, it should start writing normal SMS.
2. If this won;t help, you must have installed something, that took over SMS messaging and now lead to this problem. I propose backup&Hard reset and try again.
All the configuration you need is stored on you SIM card and you don't need to configure anything - in all WM5 roms SMS works always out of the box.
Report effects.
