Hi all, what's the best software to use if I want to create .cab file for installing apps or chaing registry etc on the Universal's WM5/WM6?
I have tried "WinCE CAB Manager" but the cab file failed to be installed on my Windows Mobile emulator for some reason. I know you can use Visual Studio .NET 2005 something like that, but is there any lighter program in addition to VS .NET?
Thanks in advance!

"WinCE CAB Manager" but the cab file failed to be installed on my Windows Mobile emulator for some reason -> u maybe set the wrong version variables?
check it! ;-) i think it workz!!!
I have set it to support all CPUs and on the OS type I have set it to support Pocket PC 2005. I will give it some more go later and see how it does.
Hi, it is still not working, I have attached the screenshot of the configurations in the cab and the error messsage I get. I tried it with my Universal and the Windows Mobile Device emulator and I got the same error.
Can anyone tell me what I have set wrong in this CAB? Thanks!
BTW, I was only trying to add a small .txt file by using this .cab as a test.
I have just got it working now! I installed WinCE CAB Manager on another PC and it is working fine!! For some reason the cab file it makes on my laptop doesn't work.
Anyway, I will use the other PCs to create the cab file then.
Wrong thread... Sorry
hi all,
our company search some support for this scenario:
we use 500 handheld vpa III for our own application.
at the moment we make a backup/restore with sprite software.
we use the restore to prepare the vpa´s for our projects.
so we can replicate our application for example 50 project handhelds.
the problem we have we cant mirror the handheld configuration we need like manuel net selection or keyboard lock.
any one have an idea for a software we can take for that or who is specialist in these questions ?
thx a lot
best regards
userv
By following the wiki instructions I made a personal_settings.cab file that I install after a ROM flash and all my settings are there, including bluetooth pairings and ring tone selection to name a few. Basically all it is is a series of registry entries. Easiest way to test this is to export the registry of a clean unit and then export a copy of a completely modified unit. Compare the two files and extract the differences and use a tool like Win CE Cab Manager to create a cab that you can install via a cooked EXTRom.
This is not a detailed set of instructions but should definately get you pointed in the right direction.
is possible use the Bk100 keyboard with wm6? how?
Hi,
I know you asked about it few days ago, but maybe someone will find this information helpful:
I don't know exactly about WM6, but I am using it without any problems on WM6.1 professional on my HTC Diamond, I just installed drivers from CD-ROM which I found in package
The only bad thing is folded-up stand - it isn't good for holding my Diamond.

Hi tyran666 ,
I had buy one of this BK100 from MSI, but I can't run the install software because it's always stop and send a error message.
I tried install in Windows Vista and XP, and the problem is I do not have the .cab file, only the .exe for PC installation. For and unknown problem, the software stop before extract the drivers.
This keyboard (BK100) do not have support in MSI page (the same in pages from kingman and darfon, where it is referenced as G981). - MSI did not respond my ask for support.
In my research in web, you are the first one with which that the keyboard works.
The install software that came with your keyboard is: /MicrosoftStack/FoldableKeyboard.exe (2/2/2007, 84KB)? Can you send to me the driver you used, or inform where can I get it?
Thanks in advance

How to install the BK100 over problems with the software provided
- this was used to install in X800 glosffish (ETEN)
You need to use the folowing files (I extract those from the original software):
BT Foldable Keyboard.exe and
BT_DKBdriver.exe
The 'BT_DKBdriver.exe' obviously is the driver, and needs to be saved in folder '\windows' in the device.
The file 'BT Foldable Keyboard.exe' should be saved in a folder. This is the application that starts the keyboard uses.
You need start the bloetooth in accordance to MSI manual, before using the keyboard . The keyboard password is 0000.
If anyone needs the files, ask using email.

Hello, I'm new here, and I have been attempting to make two custom ROMs for the HP iPAQ 21x series, and I ran into a huge problem. I have two dump folders, and I can't figure out how to turn either of them into an NBH(or NBF) file. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Edit:Oh, and also, in case anyone was wondering, I'm trying to make them a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM and a Windiows Mobile 6.5 ROM, and they are both(as far as I know) clean, except for the HP stuff.
nbh or nbf... ? for what ? it is inpossible to flash it back, you need bldiag.nb0 and hpimage.bin (foxconn format) but fortunatly pdocwrite works fine, so you need to: dump or download dump of imgfs (part02, os) unpack it via imgfstodump, cook to wm 6,1 or 6.5, then convert back to imgfs via imgfsfrom dump, and write via pdocwrite, xip can be also writed by this way, xip is part01, it works but i'm not a rom cooker so I cant cook it myself...
edit: it is also possible to edit marvell obm's and bootloader, but only via linux
edit2: here is my post about ipaq 214 and pdocwrite http://forum.brighthand.com/showpost.php?p=1762892&postcount=4
edit3: it will also works on any 21x and 11x and as I think on other hp devices manufactured by foxconn
I'm sorry elektrownik, but I don't really get what you're saying, I'm not very experienced with this ROM stuff, this is the first time I've ever tried to make one. But in response to what you're asking(I think), I was going to make them NBH files, make a backup ROM image of the device, and then use the HP RUU, which I have made to look for a file called 'RUU_signed.nbh'(what I will name them), to update the device via Activesync connection.
Update:OK, I've managed to get a little further, and now I have two BIN files, and two NB.PAYLOAD files, and I'm pretty close to turning them into NB Files.
But how do you want to sign it for hpruu it need hp cert and key, or did you cracked it. Anyway here is default rom. http://rapidshare.com/files/2236847...n_marked_internally_with_custom_extra_data.7z
Oh, well I didn't know it had to be signed, but in the ROM files which I was basing mine off of(which I thought you made) was an HP digital signature file(.cer) that said it went an HP 21x Image Update, I clicked on it, Windows said it installed the certificate, and then the file dissapeared. I'm not sure if that will help use the HP RUU or not, but I found it kind of odd. Also, if you'd like to take a look at it I can put it up for download somewhere(there was another one).

What's "parameters", I don't know what you mean. Also I don't remember using NBSplit, I started out with a IMG file which I then dumped.
Edit:Oh wait, I see what you mean. I didn't use NBSplit, I was following the attached directions to reconstruct ROM, except it wasn't for the device the file specified, and instead of 'imgfs.bin', I used a file called 'ipaq214.img', and instead of 'Windows.nb' I used a file called 'flash.nb'. And, I'm pretty sure that elektrownik made both files.
lol why you all dont read what i wrote, i have rom, which was reconstructed from dump, but it impossible to flash it from sd like on htc by flash.bin, ipaq 214 need bldiag.nb0 and hpimage.bin to be flashed from sd, but those files never was released so it is impossible to study format in which they coming, 214 can be also flashed from pc, but it need foxconn application and like before hpimage.bin, and there is official metchod - hpruu, but files which it use need to be signed first, we dont have cert and key to sign them, it wold be possible to patch hpruu to delate sign validation but i dont see anyone who working on this, as i wrote only one working metchod is pdocwrite application, i check it and it works, but i'm not room cooker so i cant cook wm 6.1 or 6.5 imgfs...
I think there are quite few topics about it.
It would be maybe better to have EVERYTHING relevant in one so everyone who posesses knowledge can help.
Now it looks that we (you) are inventing hot water... no offence - i appreciate all the hard work you put into this. But we (you) need better cooperation and clean topic.
I am grateful to everyone who share and try to make something. Respect to you all!
Kind regards,
WODP

Initial Solution
Alright, a kind member of "htcgeeks forum" mzel has pointed me in the right direction of how to obtain a 4pda account.
Best method is to copy and paste small selections of text at a time into for example google translator. So just copy box titles for example to find out which box to type in login name and which is password, etc..
When accessing the create account page I made sure I was in the original Russian version of the website, not translated.
The 'Capthca' authentication test is actually a mathmatical equation. If you look very carefully in the middle of the box you will see what looks like 2 sets of 2 digit numbers. Something like this; sfakdhffdf33dskfjkf44ksdfkd ignore all those other numbers around the box they are just background noise.
In this example you take the 33 and 44 and then add them together. The answer to the 'Capthca' question would be 77. Each time the numbers will be different but you just follow this same method.
Once you have created your account and been through the email verification you can download the files straight away.
The A02 ROMs have an 8MB pagepool which is a lot more than LennySh ROMs. You might like to try different pagepool sizes to find the best for your liking. Here is a pagepool editor that is already setup to work with these A02 Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4780661#post4780661
Also, the A02 RTM Rom is like a "Stock Dell Edition" as LennySh would say. The OS version is 5.2.19965 build 19965.1.2.3 This is quite nice because LennySh stopped creating "Stock Dell Edition" well before this version. Makes things a little cleaner for those users like me who wish to add their own program choices via UC to custom our install.
Cheers,
Dan

Someone else might like to make some more mirrors?
Please, comment on your experiences.

Information about A02 V8.0 Touch ROM
Translated from official site
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=75310&st=520&p=1900015&#entry1900015
FTouchFlo, WkTask disabled by default.
(When ROM first installed you will need to manually enable these)
FTouchFlo before calibration screen unforgettable off.
(X51v will lock up if you run 'screen alignment' program with FTouchFlo enabled. You have to disable FTouchFlo before running 'screen alignment' program. If your X51v does lock up then a normal reset will free it back up.)
In a few words about FTouchFlo, TOOLS adds touch scrolling in all programs and menus, if the program does not require touch scrolling, in settings FTouchFlo can make this program a list of programs that will not work scrolling.
(Can create a list of programs where FTouchFlo will not interfere)
With strokes can quickly launch any 4 programs installed by the user.
Stroke default:
left to right - PIE
right to left - Messaging
top-down - WMP
bottom-up - x50Mix
(I have tried this and it does work. You can change what programs are activated by what movement)
EnlargeStartMenu - increased menus and the Start menu, ie It is possible to dispense almost without using the stylus.
(You can enable or disable large fonts for Start Menu and internal Program Menus, similar effect to WM6.5 in a way)

I think yes, it's possible and should be quite easy. But I think it's almost unneeded, because those ROMs already have GWES fixed that allows OS to work with buggy driver properly. So to have some useful effect (in stability), we should find and embed there original (non-patched) GWES, then use fixed video driver.
This just in...
Here is message I just received from Dynamite:
Quote:
Thank you for using my ROMs and thanks for mirrors
But I have to disappoint: the work on the new ROMs turned off because of outdated drivers, which in fact has not been updated since WM5.
Partly solve this problem is possible if you can find a Board Support Package (containing the source code drivers, and so the hardware-dependent software) for the X51v, but it is practically impossible
That level of help is way out of my league.
Problems with WiFi?
I don't know if anyone has problems with WiFi with these ROMs or not. I had a problem getting a connection but found a solution.
I installed the attached cab file WiFiService.CAB
Performed a normal/soft reset.
Then WiFi connected no problem.
Maybe might help anyone else who notices a problem with WiFi.
This only works for Dynamite A02 WM6.1 ROM!!!
Ok everyone,
I have now tested enough Pagepool sizes with Dynamites A02 ROM to make a suggestion.
*Try setting a custom Pagepool of 4MB*
I tried 8MB, 6MB, 5MB, 4.8MB, 4MB, 3MB. Trust me 4MB is the best option!!!
Performance will not really show up synthetically, ie; SKTools benchmarking.
*But in real world usage it becomes apparent*
I can guarantee that the X51v will feel 2x more responsive and faster!!!
I noticed 3D and software gaming ran smooth even in huge action sequences.
Screen tap response is stellar and you go through menus and file exploring quick as lightning.
File scrolling long lists like Windows folder is nice and smooth and I have not had problems with screen taps registering as double taps.
Hand writing in Notes was fluid and felt accurate/natural. Scrolling while viewing PDF files doubled in performance!!!
Also you will go from 28MB free up to 32MB free which is same free RAM as the older Football A07.
*So give it a go and tell me if you agree!*
This maybe the final ultimate WM6.1 we will see on our X51v?
Pagepool editor
It's pretty easy to do once you get use to it.
Here is a tool that can help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536024
Here are instructions;
1.) Click "Load ROM"
2.) Select the Dynamite A02 WM6.1 .nb0 file
3.) Select the Dell X51v WM6.1 A02 (Dynamite) ROM from the list
4.) Select the 4MB pagepool size from the drop down box
5.) Click the CheckBox "Generate CRC File"
6.) Click "Run!"
7.) After the program has run, Click "OK" in the popup dialog box, then click "Exit"
8.) Transfer the updated files to your (FAT32 formatted) SD card, and flash your device
Simple as that!
Want to try alternate Bluetooth Stack?
I have made some slight modifications to the original Widcomm/Broadcom Bluetooth Stack that is from here:
http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/...widcomm-axim-x50v-x51v-state-development.html
What I have done is modify it so that it intergrates perfectly with this Dynamite A02 ROM. It is not intended to be
used on any other ROM, so if you attempt to use on another ROM and notice problems/errors that is why.
If you want to try this out then here are the instructions;
1. Download the .zip file with 3x .cab files (would not attach to this xda post for some reason) can be found here;
http://forum.htcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=19569&postcount=80 or http://www.mediafire.com/?mgcmbxmez5i
2. Install the AWirelessPower_v101.cab
3. Install the BTSpeedSwitch.cab
4. Install the BBluetoothStack_v05.cab
5. It will ask to reset when completed, just click ok.
6. After reboot just turn the bluetooth on and off once by using the *taskbar tray icon* only, not hardware button.
This is just to activate the change to new Bluetooth Stack.
Need help? Follow these instructions.
01. Click on *taskbar tray icon* and select 'Bluetooth Manager'.
02. Select 'Menu' and then 'Paired Devices'.
03. Click 'Add' button.
04. Now click button to the right of the 'Device' box.
05. Your Bluetooth equipment should appear, select it's icon.
06. Now you should be able to enter a 'Passkey'.
07. Use a four digit number and press 'return' on the onscreen keyboard.
08. For example; If connecting with PC your PC should have a window pop up.
09. Enter the same four digit number into PC pop up window box.
10. It may take a couple of different trys to get that done.
11. Now if we have our devices paired we can click 'ok' to close.
12. Back at 'Bluetooth Manager' main screen click 'New'
13. Best method to create a connection between Bluetooth equipment is to let the X51v explore the bluetooth
device itself!!!
14. Select 'Explore a Bluetooth device' option.
15. Click on the paired device icon that we made earlier.
16. The X51v should now be searching the device for capabilities.
17. You can choose to have security turned off or on, I turn it off myself for a2dp, but if using bluetooth to share
an internet connection or transfering files then you may want to use the security encryption.
18. Sometimes it won't explore the device on first attempt, so just click the 'Back' button and then click on the paired device again.
19. Ok, now you should have a list of services to choose from.
20. For this example, I am clicking on 'A2dp SNK Service'.
21. Now you should be back at the 'Bluetooth Manager' main screen.
22. You should now have an icon for the connection we have just made.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
23. All we do to activate the connection from now on is just hold the stylus down on the icon we have made and
select 'Connect'. Makes it easy to get connection, now that we have done all the hard work.
24. You can click the 'Active Connections' tab to see connections that are currently turned on.
25. Hold stylus down on the icon we made and select 'Status' from the drop down menu. Here you can see signal
strength and data transfered.
26. To close a connection hold down stylus on the icon we made and select 'Disconnect' or you could press the
X51v wireless hardware button to turn Bluetooth off from the 'wireless Power' aplet.
Notes;
To use with UC sdconfig installation you need to modify your sdconfig.txt file to look like this:
LOCK: Disabled
HIDE:Enabled
CAB: \SD Card\AWirelessPower_v101.cab
CAB: \SD Card\BTSpeedSwitch.cab
CAB: \SD Card\BBluetoothStack_v05.cab
HIDE: Disabled
LOCK:Enabled
Of course you may already have other .cabs listed as well, just make sure you put these ones at the end of the
list in this order because of the 'reset after installation' built into bluetooth stack installation .cab file.
Also this line at the top of the sdconfig.txt file;
HIDE:Enabled
And this line the bottom of the sdconfig.txt file;
HIDE: Disabled
Are very important. This is also because of the 'reset after installation' window at the end of the bluetooth stack
installation. If the UC install window is not 'hidden' then you will not be able to see the 'reset' window or click on it.
Also, you don't need to add 'RST: Reset' at the very bottom of the sdconfig.txt file as it would now be redundant.
Extra Tool;
The included BTSpeedSwitch.cab it is just a speed switcher for the bluetooth if you wanted to slow the
connection down to 460800bps. Only needed for troubleshooting purposes if you had an unstable connection.
Which I have never had with this Bluetooth Setup.
*All program icons of these Bluetooth installations can be found in the menu Start/Programs/WirelessPower*
Others and myself have noticed certain bugs and quirks with Makuu's 6.1 A09 523F, some are even noted on the official thread. It is possible for some users not to have picked up on these bug and quirks yet, due to everyone using their device for different purposes. But they are there and have not or can't be solved without recooking the ROM. There is no point working from a buggy base if you have another slightly older bugless base to work from.
At the moment their are no known bugs or quirks with Dynamites A02 RTM ROM. This is why others and myself are tweaking this ROM to create the perfect WM6.1 setup. Don't be fooled by this thread, this is my secondary thread I use to report to another audience. All communication I have with the community regarding Dynamites A02 ROMs are done on another forum elsewhere.
Unless another newer WM6.1 ROM with no bugs or quirks is released then Dynamites A02 RTM ROM should become the perfect WM6.1 ROM. We have already got the performance up on it and is fast enough to play games with no frame drops while sending audio output via a2dp over bluetooth.
Sorry no offense against you or this thread, only wanted to know if this ROM has advantages over the newer makuu release.. Thank you for the explanation!
No worries.
All cool... Sorry if I come across aggressive, I just don't get much luv here on xda. So yeah, I feel like I'm always having to defend myself. Maybe if there was a 'Thanks' system here then people would see that there are some that do know what they speak instead of us all being cowboys. But hey, I cut my teeth here, so I will continue to post here.
Cheers.
Dynamite A02 v8.0 RTM ROM with 4MB pagepool
Due to fact that I am relatively sure 4MB is best pagepool size for this ROM and that some users are requesting an already changed ROM to be uploaded.
Please find attached a Dynamite A02 v8.0 RTM ROM with 4MB pagepool.
Please if anyone would like to add and post some mirrors that would be appreciated.
Wow, your first post!
Anyhow, usually it would be nice to have more/clearer details of your question, or a screenshot showing what you are refering too.
Ok, I think you are refering to the 'softkeys' at the bottom of the screen. The issue you have is nothing to do with this ROM at all and cannot be modified directly in this ROM so either you have modified the registry or you are using a 3rd party software which has caused this problem.
To solve this problem I suggest a utility called "Softkeys Control Panel Applet".
With this utility you can change them to whatever you want.
(How did you know it was my first post? Is there some big red number somewhere??) Yes, I'm mostly a reader, not a poster.
Anyway, the 'softkeys' usually have "calendar" on the left and "contacts" on the right, so I don't know why mine has "contacts" on both sides. This was after the fresh ROM flash. I'll look into the applet.
Thanks. (And a great, BIG thanks to all of you super-brains who like to dig into this stuff and make it great for the rest of us.)
