Change keyboard mapping

Hello, i will receive in few days an MDA Pro.
I'm French, and first, i will flash the device with a WWE ROM.
But after, when it will be available, i think i'm going to flash it with a French ROM.
My question is: how remap the physical keyboard ?
I think the keyboard will be a QWERTZ mapping.
But if i flash with a WWE ROM or a French ROM, the physical keyboard will not be mapped correctly.
I've seen the tip for the Qtek 9090 (i'm a 9090 Owner), it was a key in the registry to modify, and it was ok.
but, what is the procedure for the HTC Universal ?

I found it somewhere in the net (may be buzz developers)
Spanish layout code:
Registry\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Qwerty
And the value should be: 68617
Now I only have access to my UNI. Somewhere in my desktop I have codes for other layouts too; I'll post them when I find them again.

Keyboard - please help on Scandinavian settings

Hep. Have been looking around the forum to find a way to change the keyboard layout (Hardware), to Danish.
I simply cant make it work. I have the Live 0.2 rom, and have tried the reg. editing as written in the forum..but no go.
Can someone please give a guide to which rom that I can use if I want a Danish Keyboard - or can someone do anything about the Keyboard issues. (Make some kind of a cab or??) I cannot do it myself, but would really be thankfull.
And - great thing with all this rom biz. I know nothing about it - but loves to jazz up my phone...hehehe

I'm using LVSW version and somehow every softreset reverts \oem\qwerty registry back to uk mapping, manual edit and/or nordic keymapping.cab is useless, it have to be something with LVSW version, because xda live was working with nordic cab...

I have tried to change the registry, but i does not seem to do anything for me. I wonder if the settings somehow can be extracted from wm5?

Look at this post Norwegian Keyboard on WM 6?, it has the cab file for the keyboard attached, this is used for all nordic tytn.

I've just installed xdalive keyboard fix cab-> softreset -> nordic keymap cab -> softreset and now the mapping is correct!

I am wondering the same thing, have tried to search the forum with no luck

are there some who got the xdalive keyboard fix cab and nordic keymap cab?

when you guys find all the solutions to the mapping add them to the wiki, or pm me the list of fixes all nice and neat and i will put them on there

This works on XDA-Live & Black (at least)
Here's the one I use and it works on most of them anyways. Remember to soft reset afterwards.

Whenever I flash a new ROM or do a hard reset I just change the following ONE registry setting.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"=132116
Why not make a fix_my_qwerty_mapping.reg file and save this on your storage card, content like this (I have no idea how to make a .cab file, but this works fine for me):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty\]
"Layout"=dword:20414
This is the Norwegian settings, but it doesn't matter for Finnish, Swedish and Danish users - it's all the same mapping. I got a TyTN/Herm 200 and for all I know this could be firmware dependent.
The number "132116" is decimal and found by:
20+countrycode, country code for Norway: 0414. That will be 20414. Converting this hex to dec gives 132116.
(When using the .reg file it writes in hex and therefore 20414, but you can manually enter the number directly into the register using hex if you like.)

Remember to power down/up after applying this registry change - not just a stylus soft reset.

Keyboard issue

hi everybody, i've just updated my ROM to WM6 Dopod WWE 3.54.707.3 posed by mrvanx, a big thanks for the sweet release, however im experiencing a kinda unique issue with the keyboard. whenever i press 'y' on the keyboard it types "z" and vice versa. I've already tried to google as well as searched thru the forum but i haven't find anybody with this problem. i was wondering if there is any way to somehow manually fix this issue without installing any cab files because everything else are working fine. i also tried to change regional settings but no luck so far. i appreciate any comments !!!

Using X01HT ? I faced the same problem before . It is the keyboard layout problem . Use HTCustom to change the keyboard layout to Japanese will work fine after setup and reset .

ohhh is that what he is using? Well, that explains why the keyboard fix didnt work

im using O2 xda trion

Keyboard Layout
If you had google for it you would have found it also, I have an x01ht (softbank) hermes
so I have to do it after every rom update. anyway check to see the the keyboard layout setting is fitting your needles
I use the jpn layout:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hex) (this is for the keyboard itself, try changing this first and soft reset, remember to exist the regedit first)

German didn't fix it for me. I used HTCustom and changed it to Japanese..
I'm happy now

what a good software!!! I flashed Dopod 838Pro CHT WM6 and do this app to change keyboard to english

I had a similar problem on my Dopod. It has a 'bad' keyboard with the X and the Z keys swithched: XZC instead of ZXC.
I 'fixed' it with an application called AEK mapper, that loads at the start up and bypasses the problem for all the programs.

Does anyone knew how to disable the XT9 for Asus p750, im using WM6.1 by sorg I just want to change the default to ABC when Im writing an SMS.

Hi there, really nice forum, I'm happy to have found it!
I recently installed the 0.19 version of the Sorg VGA ROM and I must say, my P750 is working much more stable. I didn't notice any problem with the memory.
The main problem I now have is the following: I tried to disable xt9 functionality that was really annoying me. I found a site on this forum telling about a registry tweak. I tried it, but unfortunately the xt9 is still present. So I tried until I was able to disable xt9 and word suggestion feature. Now my problem is, that I only can type numbers!! With the virtual keyboard it works, with the physical one, it doesn't. I'm really desperate, I tried to revert my changes but nothing seems to happen. Even when I reset the device (after appyling registry changes) nothing but numbers!
So my question/request to you:
could somone out there make a screenshot of his registry (ASUS P750), of course not of the whole one but only of the following path, since this is the one I messed up:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME

Yes im having the same issue.. people say there are fixes via registry... but i dont know how to access them.. if someone can either tell me how to get it done via regedit or setup a cab file for me.. it would be much appreciated..

Fix for Igo8 on Rhodium based roms "find Address"

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.- After Hard Reset
2.- Install Igo8
3.- Go to settings, Device, Power Management and set to "Backlight Always on"
4.- Go to "Find"
5.- go to Address
6.- select a city
Can you write something? I get an "Á" that I can not delete..
If you change the power Management to "Use Device Settings" then you can write the city name.
Solution:
For users having this problem with Rhodium roms and IGO8,
[device]
Type="ALIAS_TOUCH HD"
sdcard_dsk_num=7
This fix the problem

Thanks for your solution. It works very well.
At first I realised that I had the issue when I used the new keyboard so I disabled it (just using the standard one).
After your solution, I just noticed that I have another issue with the sound volume that I can only change with the screen slider, the physical volume buttons are not taken into account.
Is that the same for you and if yes do you have any idea of a trick to solve it?

no problems with igo8 and duttys 2.2 / DD 2 HP / leos vers 9
dont have any problems with igo8 and the latest roms!

I had the problem with MaryOne v1.3 and here was the fix i used (with mortscript and VJSipSwitchII) :

I'm now using Dutty V2.2 but did not change my script, so I don't know if the problem accurs with my new rom

Now, There is NO Keyboard visible and I cannot choose anything.

Just a question:
- why reinstall IGO8 after flashing the device?
If you installed it to your card, it will work normally after hard-reset or flashing new ROM. You simply have to copy a shortcut to lead to IGO8.exe and copy it into Windows\Start menu\Programs. It will even show up under All applications list.
Run it, and that's it.
Same goes for Ndrive, TomTom and pretty much any other program you install on your card. I got some programs running from the card I installed the very first day I got my HD, and I changed like 6 ROMs so far.

easy fix...
change your soft keyboard to "keyboard" the default old keyboard (not the new from manilla) and it works...
atleast for me
