Can anyone get me a link to a description of how to get into an MDA Exec? I have just been given one with a broken usb socket. I have taken out the four T6 screws under the battery but I cannot see a way into it without forcing/breaking it. Can anyone help or describe how to get the *@$%ing thing apart?

I have bought a pair of faulty backpacks on ebay for my XDA IIi.
One of them is totally shot, the other kind of works but there is a bad connection on the connector that attaches to the XDA.
Does anyone have info on the pinout of this connector please?
I checked the XDA II service manual to no avail.
Hi Mr Fusion
I'm afraid not an answer but a sharing of problems - I have lost my backpack lead and can't get another. Did you find the pinout? Any ideas where I might get the connector?
Cheers
Jon
I was just looking for the pinout when I saw this post! amazing coincidence.
Anyway, I was wondering about making my own Wifi backpack, or possibly squeezing an sdio wifi card inside the case on this connector.
But, I need the pinout before I can even hope to try.
To the guy with the dead backpack, how much did you pay? want to sell it cheap to me to experiment with?
Any of you who wants the complete kit plus 1Gb compact flash pm me.

I am trying to find a cradle for my xda2s that will allow me to plug in a GPS reciever and use the phone functions as well. The spotty oiks I have asked in various shops can't help and email help at various websites isn't particularly knowledgeable. I already have a nokia kit in my car from the previous owner and intend using the wiring from that if possible. I particularly like this one:

but the details are scant on the site.
Anyone out there recommend anything to me???

I've been looking for a similar thing and came across this:

I don't think you're obliged to buy it on eBay, but it's a start. What I'm wary about is that the microphone on the M2000 is on the bottom of the unit, so by plugging in as suggested in the picture on eBay would cover the microphone, and from memory the cradle uses the mic in the m2000. I haven't had the time to research this any further, but I hope this may help.
Hi there - I'm new to the forum.
I own an Orange SPV M1500 which I think is what you'd term a Himalaya here.
My partner bought me a great new car kit which has the typical thin xda connector port in it, but now the phone is behaving badly. The screen is wonky in several places and is not responding to taps.
My dilemma is this - Orange do not provide these phones any more and they don't provide phones with the same port connector on the bottom either.
So I either have to get rid of the cradle or somehow get another phone with this type of connector.
Does anyone know the current list of phones with this kind of connector? Or where I might be able to get hold of a replacement?
Thanks in advance.
I'm not too sure, but with most car kits you can buy replacement cradles, which i believe are relatively cheap compared to replacing the whole of the car kit, what car kit is it? perhaps a quick google search along the lines of replacement cradles might turn up something
Hi
I was wondering if the connector located under (not behind) the battery works for upgrading Pocket pc (PDA2) like the usual one, because it has broken tracks.
Also if anyone knows where to get that alternative connector, or at least what's the known name of it.
cant renember what htc model pda2 is
but if it's himalaya it's the backpack connector and i doubt it can be used to sync
also it could be an external antenna connector in which case it also cant be used to sync with
clikc XDA-wiki and find your device it could be that it have a hardware description where you can find info about the connector
I've googled for the Himalaya CF backpack, but drawn a blank... Are there any peripherals actually available that use it?
...or any more tech info on its pins so that we could develop our own?
Just replaced my XDA2i with an orbit and am trying to find a lead that will allow the orbit to work with the O2 speaker kit thingy. Looks like it's made by Ora / safe2talk and that they are standard things but you then buy an end cable to suit your phone. I have the Brodit mount, and the mic is wired behind the upholstery, so this seems the best solution, but if there is a better one I'd be grateful to know
Thanks
Mike
