My vibrate function stopped working a few days ago and at first I thought it was me changing my profile but when I checked, everything's still the same. i didn't drop it, in fact I've pampered my phone since i got it a month ago. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you fix it?
This happened to me after switching to the 1.33 WM6.0 ROM a while back and hasn't been fixed even after switching to Kavana's WM6.1 ROM. Anyone know of any fix or registry setting that might resolve this issue?
Please, please, please help me out guys! It's driving me crazy!
Nevermind, I fixed it!
I swear, I have already fixed my LCD, keyboard, and now the vibrator on this device. Not bad for a cell phone that has taken a beaten over almost 2 years.

how did you fix it?
I just took the phone apart. Well, basically the back cover and took the vibrator cell completely out, cleaned out the connectors with a cotton swab and put it back. It turned out that by flipping it around it worked better, so I did. Not a hard task at all.

I have P3300 with meschle's 4.02 Vanilla ROM. One One, Quicken, TomTom and Stowaway drivers. 8GB Sandisk SDHC. Nothing else. I have A LOT of e-mails and contacts and music.
It has been working pretty good for me, but lately the Artemis hangs WAY too often. I tried to see any pattern, but it seams that it does it totally random. Sometimes it just hangs on the screen, sometimes the screen goes off. Sometimes the soft reset works, sometimes I have to remove the battery and restarts. I think that I have tried everything, but cannot find a problem. I made sure that the card, SIM and battery are all seated and cleaned contacts.
I used to use Battery Status 0.05 and ran at 247, but lately I removed it (and fresh installed ROM) and still hangs. It is my primary phone, so I need to fix it, because it hangs often on my belt and I have no idea that the phone is not working. Help!!!
Even if you clean the battery contact & other visible contacts, there are some wires inside, which need to be cleaned. It may happen if the contacts inside the phone is not cleaned. You can give it to repair shop and clean all contacts inside the phone with electronic device cleaning solution. Internal battery contact, display to mainboard contact is most critical contacts need to be clean.

Hmmmm, I guess you are right. It is just the cost I am wondering. I am not even sure if there is a place who would take it apart. I am thinking maybe using air to blow it? I can take it apart and blow it with clean air. Gosh, scary idea if something flies away. ;-)
If it is a dirty or corroded contact problem you should be able to generate the fault at will by shaking tapping or rattling your phone. Has it been dropped or do you work in a dusty or corrosive environment?

i never dropped it, but i work in construction, so i guess it is a little dusty. i tried to rattle it or shake it, but it seems solid. I just opened it, blew it with air and so far running without hitch. I will write the results.

OK, after about a day, it only restarted once (before it used to ten times or so) so it helped. I bought a dust spray for electronics (just clean air) and I will try it maybe again. It seems so far that it is the case.

OK, I blew the air all over it and if there was something it has been gone. It still hangs sometimes. Now about 2-3 times a day. I since re-installed the 4.02 ROM but it still hangs once in a while. The bad thing is that it usually does that in the pocket, so I have no idea that the phone is not working. Any suggestions?
i had the very same problem.. hang on pocket, on the midlle of a call..all random.
tryed to update rom after rom and no go.
Sent it to HTC , they exchanged the board and now it runs fine for weeks.
My guess is that it started to fail after charging the battery with a motorola charger (mini usb 5v type)
but is just a guess

How much did they charge for the motherboard replacement? Isn't it cheaper just to buy another one (since it is an older model I saw them around $300). I thought about getting Kaiser instead. Got one, but to my surprise, it is actually slower than the Artemis (even with HTC ROM or cooked ROMs). Plus it's camera really sucks.
Let me know how much you paid.

Hi guys, recently I've been having quite an issue with my Wildfire S. It worked fine, rooted S-ON with CM7.2RC from alquez, until one day.
It all started two weeks ago when I was on one open air party where a thunderstorm overwhelmed me and left me completely wet. I've been terrified of that day before cause WFS is my first smartphone and I've been wondering how would it react on water. Maybe there is no causality between this, idk.
But since then, everytime somebody called me, the display shut off and after the call has ended, I couldn't awake my phone by normal means - the on/off button didn't work, so I started using quite dumb solution - a hard reset with taking off battery and putting it on.
(then I figured out that it could be awaken by plugging it to USB)
quite stange issue, isn't it?
I did a factory reset and flashed the CM again on clean. The frequency of a dead display has lowered down to every two calls appr. but it was still happening. Today, finally, I took off and on the battery again and that somehow did a factory reset... that's it, I have to solve it.
I'm quite worried it has something to do with HW (after becoming wet). However, if I'm not calling, it WORKS FINE!
Anybody can say anything about this?

It sounds like the proximity sensor got wet. Normally, i'd tell you to take the case and battery out and leave it all in a bucket of uncooked rice for a day to pull out the moisture. But beings that this has been awhile, idk if it will help

I was thinking about something like that too (since I have very little expertise at smartphones). Could I disable it for calls somehow? (what would it do to normal use?)
As far as I know there is no actual setting to disable it. If you were a code ninja (or knew one) i'm sure they could. And it would just mean that you would have to manually turn it off to talk on the phone. But, we're not sure that's the problem. So, I personally would try the rice and hope for the best.

Thanks for your help mate. You told me about the proximity sensor - which I googled and this popped out - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951858
"Screen does turn off when holding to face on a call, but fails to come back on, requiring taking out the battery"
I may have found a solution. Thanks again!
I hope so. If not, just come back and light this topic up again
Well, it seems my enthusiasm was premature as the app doesn't work on WFS. I tried a factory reset & flash once again, called from my gfs phone to mine and it happened again:
Even though I didn't put the phone to my ear, the display went black and after the call has ended, it hasn't awaken.
I'll try the rice, but damn, I don't understand it at all.

I don't get it either. The only thing besides it being dead that i can think of is that there's still moisture in the lens or something causing the sensor to trip (or not in this case).
I may have found another solution, but I don't understand it at all. http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f634/solved-wildfire-s-proximity-sensor-problem-1413248/#post8066168 Could you translate it to normal language, if you think it could be the fix?
That actually seems good. It basically says to get JTAG manager, and rewrite the broken nand files with the working ones at the bottom of the post. It IS a pretty advanced operation though, and it seems you would have a pretty good chance to brick your phone if you don't follow it to the letter.
I guess CM has an option to turn proximity off. Try that maybe?
Try a different rom.

Earlier I took apart my htc one x to fix the wifi antenna issue, however after re attaching the the device to the casing I can't get any kind of audio or the lights at the bottom of the phone to come on, I have very small amount of battery power but I assume that isn't the issue and it's more of my ****ing up.
Advice?
You probably messed something up in the process. Take it apart again and reassemble.
Unfortunately this hasn't fixed it, this may be one for the insurance company

Hmm i've tried this many times doesn't seem to work
This is my first thread so forgive if i put it in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where it should go.
So did the usual phone user mistake and dropped (threw) my phone. cracked the screen pretty good. I've messed with phones for a while now so i purchased a new screen and digitzer and tore down the phone. pulled the old screen off, replaced it with the new and everything was good as new. ran some tests with video and quick touches as well as multi-touch and zoom. everything worked great but i have no vibrate. the phone can be put into vibrate mode but it doesnt vibrate. i tried factory reset, though i figured it was hardware and not software. If anyone who has torn down these phones knows anything about the vibrate can you please guide me into fixing this?
On a side note, i also broke a little golden clip off the inside later when tinkering trying to fix the vibrate (im pretty sure it completes the circuit for sound because now i have no sound).
Bump. Sorry but this is kind of urgent. does anyone have any ideas on this?

It is possible that the connector came loose. Try checking that. The motor could have also been damaged so it make need to be replaced.

Joking put aside - which it's VERY hard not to go there with this - contact Tuscani1821 and he might be able to help you troubleshoot it further.

That probably wont help.... Just to be honest, if u had a backup phone i could look at for you but since u dont..... Lol.... I would suggest even getting a cheap blue samsung flip phone (verizon) all models of those have same vibrator as the e4gt

so today I got this strange headphone jack icon on the notification bar for no reason: I hadn't had headphones in the phone for weeks, and it popped up. I tried restarting, shutting down and turning back on, and finally trying headphones and taking them out, and nothing works. What's the deal? I also notice I can't play my music anymore without headphones. Could it also be I might have accidentally gotten some snow into the jack? Where I am now, snowy as hell, earlier I was outside and was cleaning my car off, and had to take out my phone.
Can someone help me!!!! I can't even talk on the phone without speaker!!!!! Pleasseeee
And if that could have been in all caps, it woulda been. I need help quick goddammit!!!!!

Hi I had a very similar problem recently, searched the web through and through but to no avail? It happened to me after the phone took a drop luckily there was no visible damage and I managed to get my carrier to replace it for free. I do believe that will be the only fix for this.
Good luck, if you do somehow find a fix it would be great if you could share.

Luckily, just as I walked into the ATT support center, the icon disappeared. But I still had them use the air can on it. Lesson learned: be careful when taking your phone out if your gloves have any snow on them whatsoever.
